Starting to get into reef tanks,

And what happens is
The tank

With the great lighting
And food,

Then you put
The right chemicals in --

Everything starts
Growing like crazy.

You see the hammer corals?

They're overgrowing?

We're doing this thing
That's called "Fragging."

Okay.

So, we're gonna pull one
Of these corals out, cut them,

And then you plant it and it
Grows, you replant it, it grows.

Corals are actually
Living organisms.

They're animals.

They got to be taken care of,
They got to eat.

Fragging is a very
Sustainable practice.

It helps conserve
Our oceans reefs,

And that's very important to us.

But before we do,
There's so many corals

Out there
That could sting you...

-all right.
-...So get your gloves on.

You see this hammer here?
Now, watch when I touch it.

It's gonna actually curl up
And go inside.

You see how it just
Slowly curled up?

Oh, wow!
It just shrunk right up.

It's shrinking.

Now, this was fully bloomed
Just like this one.

Right.

Okay, so what I'm gonna do is
Put some water in here, right...

-okay.
-...Take this coral --

When it shrinks up like that,
That's actually really good.

You can actually see where to
Cut it and where not to cut it.

You have a hard part
Of the coral,

And then you have the tissue.
-soft part.

-that's the soft part.
-okay.

You never want to cut
The soft part.

All right.

That's really bad,
And it hurts the animal.

So I can cut it here,
Cut it there,

But you never want
To cut it up there.

Okay, turn that off.

Okay, now you got
Two beautiful pieces.

This is
A two-part epoxy putty.

It's adhesive
That's safe for the coral.

Grab a pinch of this.

You get your little pod
In here, okay?

This is called
A fragging plug.

This is gonna be
The base for the new coral.

So it'll just
Adhere to it?

Correct.
Take some putty.

Right.

Place it on there --
Get it on there real good.

Now, you're putting the coral
Piece on here just like this.

Now you take this piece,
You place it inside your tank.

You find a nice little spot
On the top, maybe, like, there,

And it's gonna
Start blooming.

It's pretty cool.

Three grey reefs,

I got a leopard,
And I got several others.

We'll add plenty of coral where
They can feed, hide, and play.

We'll insert a fish-safe
Steering wheel,

Add tires on the outside,
A fresh coat of paint,

And that's our plan
For the van.

Building such a cool tank
Is really exciting.

I didn't want to waste any time
Picking out fish for this one.

Why is this fish so rare?

It's just a little deeper water,
And so they don't go down

Collecting that deep,
You know, frequently,

So far less of those
Are in the aquarium trade.

They look great in the tank,
Get about six inches.

They are fantastic
For community tanks.

You put in a male,
Two or three females,

You're gonna have
A wonderful representation.

I like it.

Yeah, I think

For being a hawaiian fish,
You can't get much better.

These guys are cruising
Over all the rocks in the reef,

And grabbing all kinds
Of little bits.

I love this fish.

I love the fact that it looks
Like it's wearing lipstick.

He's called
Holacanthus tricolor,

And it's because the black,
The gold, and blue.

Agnes: those colors are
Super vibrant, though.

Will they --
They'll stay that way?

Yeah.

You can find these guys all over
In the caribbean area.

They're super, super hardy
And get along with everybody.

That's gonna look
Really nice in the van.

And it's nice-sized, too.

The hardwicke rock wrasse.

They're really neat.

They get about
Six, seven inches,

And fantastic color
On these guys.

This one's a young one.

So the larger it gets,
The better it gets.

These guys cruise over and in

You give them a freshwater dip.

Is to keep your fish happy,

Healthy, and well-fed.

All of the parasites

That the fish would have
On them come off.

Are saltwater fish.

So what you do is you
Take the fish,

And you put it in freshwater
Just for, like, two minutes.

You don't want to take a chance
Of putting a new fish

In an already
Established tank.

Right.

If that has some
Sort of disease,

We could put it in
And it can kill the whole tank.

And they're the first
Hawaiian fish

A scientific name.

Is they can change genders

When you first came to us,

You guys wanted to take
A vintage van

An turn it into an aquarium --
This is what we came up with.

So, you have something here
That's 8 feet long,

3½ foot wide,
A 2½ foot tall, 350 gallons.

It looks
Absolutely amazing.

This really wasn't
An easy build.

We actually had to
Take apart the entire car

And actually rebuild it
From scratch.

If you notice the windshield,
We actually curved the aquarium

And it looks like
A real windshield.

We wanted to keep everything
As authentic as possible,

So we made
A coral dashboard --

Also a steering wheel
That is fish-safe.

And we also wanted to add
The iconic vegas sign.

We put the "Vegas strong"
On the other side.

You know, I knew
You guys could do it,

And you guys nailed it.

Also, too, is working lights
In the front and the back.

-oh, my goodness.
-uh-huh.

I absolutely love it.

It's amazing.
It is amazing.

Inside you have
Over 30 fish.

One of my favorite,
Porcupine puffer --

They like to eat coral.

Crabs, crustaceans.

It actually require certain food
To keep their teeth sharp,

So you want to feed them
Small crabs, clams,

Anything with hard shells.

But the cool thing
About this fish is

It's gonna have
A lot of personality.

When it looks at you, it just
Smiles with those big old teeth.

People are gonna come up
To it, and it's got you.

It's gonna become
Your friend.

The next one --
The humu humu trigger.

It's the hawaiian
State fish.

This fish requires a lot of room
To swim and hide

And actually uses its spine to
Wedge into rocks when it sleeps.

I lived in hawaii for 20 years,
So every day

I'm gonna look at that
And think of home.

Then you have
The orange-spotted tusk fish,

And that one is known to be

One of the smartest fish
For using tools.

So it can actually take a clam,

Throw it against a rock
To open it,

And it can also spit jets
Of water

Into the sand to look for food,
Which is pretty cool.

It's just amazing
How it's turned out,

To get up there,

And then the crane
Has to get in the back,

So it's double the work
And we got to do this right now.
