So, this tank originally, They were closing down

A science building At my school,

And I managed to snag this.

And it was a snake cage.

-look how big he is! -one guy back there.

-oh, my goodness. -it's his tank now.

And this guy, I got A couple of acara cichlids.

Most cichlids, they're hardy, And they're easy to care for.

Wayde: they got one of The best personalities

For fresh-water fish.

They actually like the ammonia A little high.

They like a little salt In their water,

So they're the easiest fish To take care of.

I'm assuming, since you've Already got fresh-water,

You guys are looking to do A fresh-water aquarium?

Yeah, I think that's the best Move, probably fresh water.

Are you looking to put it In this room?

I think it'd be really sweet To be here.

I think the fish'll love The light.

It'll sort of be like The real world.

You are right about the light.

You know, you have the light On this side,

So I wouldn't probably Put it in this corner

But you got A free corner right here.

Now the thing is, is he gave It up to us to come up

With a different shape than Anything that we've done before.

Let's say this is the tank, Right.

Let's say we do it this way.

And, redneck, The yellow brick road,

I think we can do that Going from, let's say,

We have emerald city.

-munchkinland. -munchkinland.

And what's the forest? Black trees?

What is that one? -haunted forest.

And we have the yellow brick Road going to all those.

And get the shape of this.

Then we got to go to insert land And really hit it

To get all the themeing For inside the tank.

Our plan is coming together.

On top of a steel stand, We'll build a corner tank

With a concave bend -- An atm first.

Inside, the yellow brick road Will travel to munchkinland,

Emerald city, And the haunted forest.

Then after we add 300 gallons of fresh water,

We'll have a mix Of 50 compatible fish

That will highlight The magical-land-of-oz theme.

Brett: the dr. Oz aquarium Is a unique aquarium.

This is something that We've never really done before.

The shop jumped right in To mold the front panel

And to get it glued.

Can't snap that. Don't snap that.

All together, these panels Weigh over 400 pounds.

Redneck: tilt down Just a little bit, chuy.

It's not an easy task To assemble this.

Red, before we glue it, man,

Check sure make sure chuy's Got the angle right.

Getting the angles to glue Just right at 90° is difficult

When working With curved panels.

The pressure pushes them out.

Since the front panel Curves inward,

The seams can blow out From the water pressure

If it's not glued properly.

But after 24 hours, The sides were bonded,

Tested, and fish-safe.

So, now we can start creating The underwater world of oz.

I love getting to shop For fresh-water fish.

Me too.

Good. Long time, no see.

So, we're doing a tank For dr. Oz.

-awesome. -he's getting a 300-gallon tank,

And the themeing is going To be inspired by the book

"The wizard of oz."

-wow. -right?

Well, let's start Looking at some fish.

-yeah, let's go. Let's do it. -yes.

Follow The yellow brick road.

Let's go.

I got one in particular that You guys are really gonna like.

-yeah? -right here.

Ooh.That's pretty.

Look at All the shimmer.

And it's, like, Gold-ish color.

It's called A gold tinfoil barb.

Tinfoil barb.

They're tiny though, Do they stay tiny?

No, they actually can get About this sized.

-wow. -that's big.

And how many of them Could we put in this tank?

-easily a dozen. -oh, wow.

And they will school, As well.

They'll stay, like, In what part of the tank?

Well, these guys Swim in the middle.

Okay.I like that.

I do, too. They shimmer And everything else, like,

Just in the front Will be so pretty.

I love the light gold Around it, too.

Those are very pretty fish. All right, what else you got?

Okay, let's go look At some more fish.

Holy fish!

What are those? -those are discus.

David: Actually, a red pigeon Blood discus.

-they're so beautiful. -they are.

There are so many Different strains of discus,

And they're bred All over the world.

The ones that people really like Are the ones from vietnam.

They breed the prettiest Different varieties.

That's where we got These ones from.

And you should see, they have Ones with, like, blues,

And you put, like, A whole variety in --

It is sick.

Agnes: Those are large already.

Do they get much bigger?

They actually do.

You can probably get A discus about this size.

They're so peaceful. Do they always swim around?

Like, they're just So elegant.

What you see is exactly

What you're going to Have in your tank,

So it's like having Living art.

Wow.Do they get along

With other fish?

When people keep discus, You keep discus

Because of the price, the color, And the amount of effort

It takes To make its environment --

These guys love warm water,

So bath time for them

Is like 83° to 86°. Wow.

People shy away from putting Anything else with them.

Oh, so you would just put The discus in there?

-discus or discus. -that's it.

The normal temperature For a fresh-water tank

Is 76° to 80°.

So, dr. Oz's

Won't be warm enough For these guys.

Wow. Those Are really cool.

So, can we put some of these In dr. Oz's tank?

No! He just told you They have to stay with discus.

I know. I just was still trying

'cause they're so pretty!I know.

They are so pretty.

Okay, well, so, we can't Have these for dr. Oz,

Unfortunately. They're beautiful.

So, what else Do you have for us?

I have one that I think You guys would really like.

Okay, let's go see it.

Check out The black skirt tetra.

Look at that black stripe, Heather,

And the long, flowing fin.

And one cool thing About this variety itself --

It's actually a mutation Of the original fish.

As I'm sure you looked, They have these big,

Beautiful fins That you pointed out.

Well in the wild, They're short.

And so, as people started Breeding them,

They started noticing, like, "Hey, that one's pretty."

And, like, "That one's pretty, too,

And maybe we can make More pretty ones."

So, are there different Types now?

Yeah. There's the high-fin,

And then There's long-fin.

And these fish are produced In asia as well as florida,

Where we get Most of our fish from.

-oh, wow. -well, those are very cool.

What do they eat?

They eat a very basic diet Of flake,

But they like insects.

So, in the wild they'd be Eating on, like, larvae

Or, like, mosquitos.

Well, let's look At another tank.

Let's do it!

I got one more fish

That I know you'll love For this tank.

It's a burmese Boarder botia.

-burmese... -border botia.

-border botia. -and he's yellow.

-he's yellow. -and he's got bricks.

Yes! I love it!

They were discovered Back in 2002.

That's crazy that new fish Are being discovered.

All the time.

And it's a really great fish To have in a tank

Because it doesn't swim In the same tank space.

So, since they hang out at the Bottom and they're scavengers,

They'll catch any food That's missed by the guys up top

As well as deal with Any snail problems

You might have In your tank.

Plus the fact that we'll have Swimming fish

At each level of the tank, Which is always nice.

Absolutely.

We always work to pick A variety of fish

That swim at different levels

To keep the tank Looking active

And full at all times.

So, we look for bottom dwellers Who like to clean and rummage

Amongst the gravel,

Schools that Will fill the middle,

And active, curious fish

Who will explore Near the surface.

This way, all your fish aren't Competing for the same space.

They love To be in schools,

So if you keep Five or more,

They'll actually hang With each other in the tank

And travel In little packs.

And since They don't get too big,

It's like the munchkins.

Ohhh!Oh, I love it.

I do love that.

Well, I think we have A great selection for this tank.

So, let's pack them up And ship them on out to oz.

Yeah, The munchkin houses...

So, this is the entire layout Of the tank?

This is all the bigger The tank is,

Is from right here.

Okay. And what's that?

Well, that's just Some wood up there

To represent emerald city.

-that's emerald city? -yeah.

I got all this stuff -- All these props --

To actually go Inside this tank.

You got the forest, You got the houses.

So, the forest,

You can't really Scatter it all throughout.

It's got to be in clusters.

Even the houses have got To be in clusters.

Right. So, let's follow the book.

So, dorothy lands In munchkinland,

Where the houses are. Okay.

We're following The yellow brick road.

That makes sense.

So, we'll start with The houses on the left.

Munchkin houses.

These are super cool.

And the fish Can swim through them.

Yes, they can. I'm sure a few of them

Will use them For their own homes,

Along with the munchkins.

So, we got a forest Over here.

I'm getting excited. I see it coming together.

These wooden trees Will create a natural,

Freshwater environment For the fish.

Fish love having plants To hide in,

Swim through, and explore.

Okay, so kind of like this --

Where a few Are propped out

And some are in the wall.

Right. And this is supposed to Go in munchkinland, too,

Or somewhere thereabout.

Look at this sunflower.

It's so cute.

Brett: Things are moving along nicely.

Redneck's finishing building up Emerald city,

But it isn't emerald yet.

We have to figure out a way

To make it glow green.

All right, I'd say we're off To see the wizard,

Since we aren't putting Live plants in this aquarium,

We are able to have as much fun With lighting as we want.

Fish don't rely on light Like plants do

Because they don't Photosynthesize.

As a bonus, The shimmery fish,

Like the tinfoil barbs We picked out,

Will look amazing In the green glow.

I like that, too, though.

That's not really lighting At all.

No, but on the canopy, It had that, also.

Put both on them. Put it underneath.

You see, that really glows,

But how do we get More up here to glow?

Brighter light?

Well, the overflow Is what color?

What if we made it some sort Of a mirror or something?

You know what I mean? So it reflects.

Oh, you're saying... I got an idea.

The light would escape Through the backside.

I like it. So, we're going to light it up

On the overflow box.

You definitely got to go To fernando now

And work out The steel stand

Because we're not going to have Enough room for the lighting.

You're going to have to get rid Of that pipe in there.

Oh, there's A support bracket?
