Reef aquarium

To make room

Of ultra luxury
And rare cars.

It's thriving.

Clownfish like,

Constantly hiding
In that anemone.

That's so cool.

So, they don't get stung
By that, right?

Nope. They've developed
An extra slime coat,

To where they can live and --

And thrive in 'em,
They don't get stung.

The clownfish will actually
Feed the anemone

And then the anemone
Gives the clownfish

A safe place
To hide in the reef.

It's a symbiotic relationship.

They're best friends.

Heather: mike,

So, the owners want to move
The tank from here

Into, like, their waiting area.

So, what do we have to do
To make sure everything is safe?

We've got
A big water vat.

We'll transfer all the water
Into that, move the aquarium,

And we'll take that water,
Fill it right back up.

A lot of those corals
Are attached to the rocks.

Mm-hmm.

-they're not coming off.

So, they have to stay
Where they're at.

They will keep
Themselves wet.

They've got a natural
Slime coat to them.

There's corals in the wild
And they'll stay out of water

For 45 minutes
To an hour at a time.

It's going
To be real quick.

We've got to remember, too,
This is glass, so it's heavy.

And then if any of the rock

While we're moving,

Height and length of our tank

Will work for
The client's space,

We'll start prepping it
For some serious modifications.

Brett: we'll start with
A 32-inch steel stand.

For the tank itself, we'll
Repurpose a massive aquarium

That we'll cut in
Half longways to create

A new 14-foot-long,
6-foot-tall rectangle.

One end will extend
Past the wall

To make it viewable
From the next room.

A coral insert will cover
Most of the back of the tank

And we'll highlight
Lusso's logo in the center.

To match the sleek cars, we'll
Frame it in a shiny gray facade.

Since the tank will clock
In at nearly 1,900 gallons,

We can add up to
100 colorful saltwater fish,

Giving the showroom visitors
Some underwater eye candy.

Before we cut the tank to size,
We have to disassemble it.

We'll save the coral
Insert pieces for a later job.

Brett:
He's gonna cut it in half.

We're gonna use
One side for one tank

And we'll have
An extra tank left over.

Chuy?!

This is a big challenge.

This aquarium is
3 inches thick

And probably weighs
About 4,000 pounds.

So, we cut it in half.

You've got 2,000 pounds
Each half.

There's a possibility that it
Could fall, fold, who knows?

You've got the big saw
Today, chuy, huh?

We're using a mighty,
Mighty big saw.

This saw blade is like
15-20 inches.

I don't even know, but it's
Like a half a pizza pie.

So, they've got to do
Two different passes on it.

One -- first pass is to score
The acrylic, the second pass

Is to actually
Clean cut through.

Now they're getting ready
To do the same thing

On the other side.

Now, when this side
Comes apart,

If they're pushing
Together a little bit

Or pulling apart
A little bit,

That last
Little bit could snap.

Pop!

Yes, it could.

So, all we do is hope
It's a nice clean cut.

Make sure
We're looking good.

It's got to be cleaned up
A little bit.

Is get the back
Ready to be put on,

Get the top and bottom,
Check on the inserts

And, uh, this thing's
Ready to go.

Now that everything
Is cut to size,

It's time to glue
On the back and sides.

First, we need to line
Everything up perfectly.

Then we lift the panels back up
And prep the area to be glued.

It has to be clear
Of all debris.

Chuy mixes our secret glue
Concoction,

Which he always insists
On pouring himself.

Then ever so carefully,
We lower the panels back down.

The weight of this tank
Is probably enough,

But we clamp it extra tight
To push out any bubbles.

Even the smallest air pocket
Will compromise the seam.

The glue actually chemically
Bonds the two panels together,

So we let it sit and meld
Together for over 24 hours.

In the meantime,
The team has started

On the huge coral insert.

Everybody knows that
Wayde loves his parrots,

But we have so many now,

That we're always advertising
To get them good homes.

Adopting one of our birds.

A parrot fish right here.

And those guys, at nighttime,
They actually sleep.

They're actually one of
The only fish that lay down

And spin a cocoon
Around themselves, um,

At nighttime when they sleep.

Also, too, you have
An orange spot tusk.

Now, this guy's actually
Really cool and really rare.

They actually take
Their crustaceans,

Their food, they pick 'em up,

And they actually throw them
Against rocks to break them.

Nobody knows why they do that,
