We actually look after

The entire collection
Of liberace's pianos.

When someone says "Grand,"
It's this shape.

They all come in
To follow the shape

Of the cast-iron plate

Grand pianos come in
Various different sizes.

It's got to look
Just like this.

Minus the 10,000 crystals.

I know what I want
The outside to look like,

But now I have to figure out
How to incorporate

The mechanism on the inside.

How does this work?

So basically,
When you play a piano key,

What happens is you
Press the notes

And the hammer comes up
And strikes the string.

So you press a note...[ note plays ]

It strikes the string,
Makes the sound.

When you release the note,

The damper goes back down
And mutes the sound.

I didn't realize
How complex pianos are,

And I'm expected to fit
All this inside a fish tank?

We can't have any
Of the inner guts.

That's not gonna be
Good for the fish.

We need to take this out
To put a fish tank in,

But I still want to have that.
I think that's important.

Especially if you
Want it to play.

The strings are
What make it play.

What if we take this,
Get a nice high-def picture,

Print it, and wrap this
Like a mirr--

It looks like it,
But we got rid of this.

How do we get it to play.You might want to consider,

Like, a digital keyboard,
Like a digital piano.

That would be
A great alternative.

The sound is produced
Electronically,

Going through
Some speakers,

Rather than through
The piano action

Of the hammers
Hitting the strings.

And then literally
All you would hear then

Would be the very gentle sound
Of you hitting the keys,

But it wouldn't actually
Make any vibration.

The biggest concern always
Is the fishes' safety.

And an electronic keyboard
Won't harm the fish in any way.

Instead of a steel
Stand and a facade,

Our aquarium will be mounted
On thick acrylic legs.

A small island of coral
In the center

Will hide our interior plumbing

And will send water into the
Filter room located next door.

We'll finish it off with
A colorful school of fish,

Ready to take
Their piano lessons.

True to their word,
Piano action

Sent over a baby grand

For us to use
As a model for the tank.

Now I got to get redneck
On board with the plan,

And off the ivories.

With a radius going in,

And this one loops
All the way around.

So this is gonna be
A tricky mold.

We can do this either in one
Piece, all the way around,

Or we're gonna have to do two
And then bond it.

I'm getting
A little visual.

Now that we have
The template,

We know we have
The shape, right?

We got to get a mold for this.
We'll measure out the acrylic.

We'll get this to the t,
And we'll tank it.

Wayde: this is a completely
Custom shape,

So we have to build the molds
For the piano from scratch.

Once we are sure everything
Lines up perfectly,

We can place
The acrylic piece on the mold

And put it into the oven.

We'll measure it out
So the curves will form

Right where we want them.

We'll put the first panel
In the oven

For four hours at 300 degrees.

Then it should come out of
The oven perfectly shaped.

On the acrylic piece

For a custom piano,

And sculpting the coral inserts
To hide all the pipes

We're planning to run
Through the acrylic piano.

We got to make it look
Like it's floating.

Some of the plumbing pipes are
In the tank and they're visible,

So we're being tricky
And covering them with coral.

We don't want to see
Any plumbing in any way,

So we're gonna
Have to camouflage it.

This is a unique tank. We've
Never done it before like this.

So, we got the plumbing

This is incredible.

A one-of-a-kind aquarium.

The tank is 75 inches
By 60 by 18.

Exactly like
A baby grand piano.

That's incredible.

It's 250 gallons.Oh, my goodness.

After we designed
The shape of the aquarium,

We had to make a steel structure
To support it.

So there's a steel plate
Under this whole entire tank.

There's also steel cups
That are underneath,

That have acrylic legs
That support it.

You have no plumbing
That you can see

'cause there's no filters
Underneath it.

Everything's plumbed out
Through the back wall.

You cannot see it,
Hear it, or anything.

Heather: we have a group
Of heniochus.

Black and white represents
The keys of a piano.

Look at those mohawks.

We also have two different
Types of damsels.

There's a kupang damsel,

Which is the blue one
With the orange on the bottom,

And then we have
A black and gold damsel.

And then we also have a pakistan
Butterfly, which wayde loves.

So, the pakistani butterfly
Has criss-cross markings on it.

It looks just like the strings
And the keys inside the piano.

We wanted to make the piano
As realistic as possible,

So we had this custom wrap
Put on it

So you can see
The innards of the piano.

I think you guys did
A great job. You nailed it.

There is no community that is
Gonna have anything like this.

This really represents
The history

Of this building,
Of this community,

And it's something
That everyone can enjoy.
