So we need to have A tank in the arena.

I want something big That's suitable for a shark...

And something that our fans Can take pictures

In front of and distribute On social media,

And all that kind of stuff. I want a conversation piece.

This actually starts out As clay.

What do you do With lighting?

Well, something really cool That we can do

Is you can set it up so that you Can do lightning storms.

So that when They score a goal,

There's a lightning storm Inside of the tank.

That's wild.

Look at the size Of that one over there.

That's huge. Let's go check it out. Come on.

This guy is on stilts.

This is going to be An 11 foot tall aquarium.

So he's on The stilts to walk around

And make it easier For him to work on it.

Is that the tallest you've done, Is 11 foot aquarium?

No, no, no. The tallest one we've ever done,

I think, was in scotland. It was 32 foot tall.

Let's check out Some of the acrylic.

So first we get an order.

Then, we determine Thickness and size.

So thickness is based upon The size of the tank, correct?

Well, the taller you go, The thicker it has to be.

This one is almost Ready to go out.

We've got to put A coral insert in it.

Anything over an inch and 1/4 Is bullet proof. Yeah.

Bullet proof, but the larger Question is it puck proof?

If it can withstand a bullet

I think it could Withstand a slap shot.

So we wanted to put the shark Tank in the chairman's lounge.

We're taking our formal Dining area called the grill,

Transforming it into A chairman's lounge,

Which is down on the club level.

Nice. Are you going to give us A tour of this whole place?

Absolutely.

This is our iconic, Signature statement

For our game presentation.

We lower this down prior To every home game,

Skate through the shark head.

We could do, like, a shark Head inside the tank.

That's a great idea.

Right. I'll give you an example. Like, you see that shark head?

So if you were a player... Yeah.

And you had to go through,

It would have to be A whale shark.

The big opening over here Is for our stages

And for the zamboni To come through.

The who? The zamboni.

You know what a zamboni is? I love the zamboni.

It's the thing that Goes around the ice.

It makes the ice, You know, actually smooth.

Man, it's always been my dream To drive one of those.

We're about 2 months Into construction,

But this is a huge space

That we're going to have For our glass seat holders.

An exclusive dining experience,

A place to meet In between periods,

Pre-game, post-game,

But, ideally, we would like The shark tank right here

In the middle, Centrally located,

So that you can see it From no matter

Where you are in The chairman's lounge.

For a shark tank you want To make it really long,

So what we would like to do Is if you have all this space,

Make the tank go Right to the pillar,

And instead of doing A cylindrical aquarium,

We could do a racetrack. Make it longer. That works.

That works. No racetrack, a hockey rink.

Yeah. We could do a hockey rink. That's right.

Right to the cement, there.

You got about 14 feet... Okay.

Which ain't bad. All right, cool.

So we could do something 14 feet, and 3 to 5 feet tall,

You know, extending All the way across.

Put it on a nice, tall stand So you can see it throughout...

The more people to see it. The whole restaurant.

We already talked About the shark head

That we're going to Put inside,

But is there anything else

That you might want Inside the aquarium?

Other things we want is The sharks logo in there.

We want hockey sticks in there. We want pucks in there.

We want the color teal, coral, All that type of stuff,

To make it really shark themed.

You know what kind Of sharks you want?

I have no idea.

Okay. We could do some bottom Dwellers, which are cool.

We could do a epaulette shark. We could do port jacksons.

We could do, you know, banded Cat sharks, marble cat sharks.

I mean, there's so Many different sharks.

How many species? 440 species of sharks.

We'll just Take a handful of those.

Those species work.

The most important thing for me Is that the sharks are safe.

So in addition to sharks, Can we do other fish?

Yeah. You definitely Could do other fish.

You definitely can Mix fish with sharks,

But it has to be the right ones, So we'll make sure

That you get the right ones With the right sharks.

Well, I want to introduce You to three sharks.

Let me ask a question. How fast does a puck go?

90 miles an hour? Yeah.

Fastest guy, probably 100, 105.

Around the ring, here...

So, first of all, It's called a rink.

R-I-n-k. Ring. Not a ring.

A ring is where You go like this, box.

It's called a rink, A hockey rink.

For 51 years I've been Calling it a ring.

You used to go to The ice skating ring?

Ring, yeah. That's bad, I know.

Please help this guy, Somebody.

Around the rink, here, They usually use poly-carb.

It's different than acrylic. It's a lot stronger,

So it's usually thinner Than you would have to use.

This is acrylic. Let's give a try, then.

It's a little small. You think they'll hit it?

Get it tight. Yeah.

All right, fellas. Let's see what you got.

Yeah. They're professionals here.

Oh, man. I can't watch this.

That acrylic is my baby. What is wrong with you?

On our way back to vegas We came up with our tank plan.

In the middle of Their chairman's lounge

The san jose sharks

Are getting a 16 foot long, Hockey rink shaped aquarium.

We'll fill their tank With 1,900 gallons

Of salt water And hockey themed props,

Including their Signature shark head.

We'll add in vibrant Coral inserts,

And then top it off With a team of fish and sharks.

And one we complete the tank With a sleek, metallic facade,

This aquarium Will be cool as ice.

We hit the ground running Because hockey season

Is right around the corner, Starting with the acrylic.

You know we have to incorporate All this in the tank,

That's what They said, right?

Yeah. All right. So we got pucks.

What is this made Out of, rubber?

Rubber. Rubber could be bad.

It could leech out. It can kill the fish.

This could be a problem. It could.

Leeching out is when water Passes through an object

And causes it to erode.

It can release toxins into

A tank that could be Deadly to the fish,

So before putting Anything into a tank

You want to make sure It's fish safe.

So I think what We should do is, probably,

Make this out of black acrylic.

Do we agree? I agree.

So can you get all this texture

And everything on there And make it look real?

I can make it look real. Next thing.

Let's look at this helmet. What's that made out of?

Plastic. Metal. Plastic. Fiberglass.

It's got Other rubber in here.

We're not sure what That could leech out.

Pull it out. I'm sure it has glue in here.

That could be bad.

We don't want any of the glue Contaminating the tank.

We got metal, that's not good. Metal screws. Metal face mask.

Metal, no. Fiberglass, no.

Glue, no. And rubber, no.

And you promised we would put This exact helmet in the tank.

No. I promised you would.

I only think it's going to look Real if we put this on there.

Can you make this?

I can probably make the mask Out of some acrylic rods.

I'll figure it out. We're gonna make two of these.

We're going to Put one on one side

Of the overflow, It's a racetrack.

One on the other side, Like, here.

And then the shark Head in the middle.

That big shark head?

They want us to, actually, Make it on one side of the tank

That you see it, And then on the other side.

But I'll take care Of that with denny.

Don't worry about that. So now we have the sticks.

All hockey sticks Are out of wood?

No. Some are out of fiberglass.

Fiberglass is no good.

I'm going to make These out of acrylic.

It's a little bit more work, But I can handle it.

All right. I'm going back to work.

We got to go in there And, probably,

Saw cut the cement to waterproof It first, then set the panel.

What about the top of the panel? [ cellphone ringing ]

Hello, this is wayde. Wayde, how are you?

It's john tortora At the sharks.

Hey, hey. What's happening?

I actually got brett In the office, what's going on?

Johnny, what's going on, buddy? We have one problem.

Oh, boy. What's wrong?

The weight. Yeah.

We need to lose about 500 pounds off the tank

Because the building, The lounge,

Needs to be able To support the tank.

Right now it's too heavy. It's a risk hazard.

Oh, boy. Well, I mean,

The only thing We could do at this point

Is bring down the height.

I don't know exactly how much,

But if we cut some Of the acrylic out,

That will bring down the water Weight and the acrylic weight,

And we should be able To get the 500 pounds.

As long as you're on time.

It shouldn't be a problem. That sounds like a plan,

Provided the sharks Can still fit in the tank.

Yeah. We're not going to change The length or the radius ends.

It will still be fine.

We're just going To bring the height

Down whatever it takes To make 500 pounds,

And then you should Definitely still be able

To have sharks no problems.

We're binding up a little bit.

We're building a massive tank For the san jose sharks,

And we just got a call With a major design change.

They need to take Some weight off,

And that means cutting the tank.

The tricky part is Cutting these curved ends.

Joey, you ready to cut it?

Yeah.

Cutting a tank this shape Is very difficult.

We need to mark it exactly

And make two clean Cuts on each side.

Then we'll use The forklift to raise

And lower the tank While we're cutting it.

If the blade goes off track It can ruin the whole tank.

We're using an air hose To blow the debris

Out of the way While the saw cuts the acrylic.

If the saw gets jammed It can crack the tank.

Binding up a little bit.

We're in the home stretch, but The saw keeps getting caught.

Good job, boys. The cut looks great.

Now that we have The kinks figured out,

We can cut the Remaining three pieces

And get the tank Ready for gluing.

Denny's been busy Sculpting the shark head

That's going to go Inside the tank.

It had time to dry and harden,

But we still have some work To do to get it just right.

What are you doing? Making shark teeth.

That's what I was hoping.

How we doing? Good? Yeah, I think so.

Let me see that bad boy.

You got the ripple. Look at that.

I like the ripple of the mouth Like its opening.

It looks tough.

So there's one here, and then There's another one here, right?

Right. All right. So, listen,

You got to understand,

This thing is like, it.

You know, when you Go to the game,

And it's there, And all the players,

They come running Out of the mouth.

You know that, right? Skating.

Skating. True.

I brought some surprises. You know me.

Hold on, I got a whole bag.

I got teeth.

This is from brett's dentist. Okay, wait a minute.

You have a bag of shark Teeth in your pocket?

Listen, I collect a lot Of things, all right?

Those are awesome. Right?

This has to be as Realistic as possible.

You see all the little Cut marks in here?

They're all serrated. Feel that.

That's, like, a knife That you cut steak with.

Look how sharp that is. It slices it, bro, like a razor.

I want them To look real, serrated,

But be soft so the sharks Don't hurt themselves.

So what I'm hearing is you Want soft, sharp shark teeth.

What if we use, like, The coral material?

It's a hard plastic. Like this stuff?

Yeah.

This won't hurt the sharks. That'd be good.

Why don't we mold it, Cast it, sculpt it down,

And then, somehow, make it sit In the exact and perfect holes

That I made for my clay? Exactly.

Now that denny and I Are on the same page,

We're creating a mold Using the real teeth

I brought I in to cast new Fish-shaped teeth out of epoxy.

Is it hard? Yeah.

Wow, that was quick.

It's fast, huh?

So let's see if we can Pull this thing off.

Look at that.

Nice. You didn't even damage it.

Oh, wow. It's all serrated. Its got the lines and all.

Look. It looks like The real tooth.

So something like that?

Yeah, and we shape that In there, like that.

Dude, that looks real, And it won't hurt the sharks.

We are doing a 2,000 Gallon racetrack tank

For the san jose sharks. That's massive. Wait a minute.

So you're going to put A shark tank in a shark tank?

Absolutely. Exactly.

We want some bright fish, Obviously, some sharks.

Okay. Sounds great. So wow us.

All right. This fish Is a red tang.

This is a thompson tang.

Thompson tang? Yes.

It doesn't look like you're Average tang, is that right?

Like, it's not The same shape.

The body shape is different. The colors are different.

Got a blueish gray color

With a little bit Of metallic touch to it.

It's got a lyretail, So you see it's like a "C."

It's a crescent-shaped Tail that they have.

This fish, actually, in the wild You can find it everywhere.

It's from the east africa All the way to hawaii,

So it's got a big spread.

It's just that we don't get it For the aquariums that often.

So being that this tang is A unique shape for a tang,

And tangs are known As surgeon fish,

Do they have, like, The little scalpel?

Yeah. Just like any other tang,

The thompson tang Does have a scalpel

In the back Near the tail, as well.

It's a small, little knife that They take it out, flair it out,

Whenever they want to Show their dominance.

Not that much because It's a friendly tang,

They like to stay together, but Once in a while they'll do that.

It reminds me of the blade On the hockey skates.

Right? That's true. Yeah.

I love it. Yeah.

I think it will fit Great within their tank.

What else do we have To go with this beauty?

The harlequin tusk.

Ooh, orange.

It's a fantastic fish. It's one of my favorites.

It's from the wrasse family.

Got those red, bright red, eyes.

They look very intimidating.

If you look at it, it's got These red eyes and big fangs,

Teeth, that you can see from Outside, but very docile fish.

Where do they come from?

They come from two different Parts of the world.

There's the one variety That comes from indonesia.

There's another variety That comes from australia.

The colors vary, that's how you Know which one is from where.

Wow. Well, what's The difference?

The australian ones will have A little bit more red to it,

A little bit more blue to it,

And the indonesian variety

Are the ones that we are Seeing, right here.

It's got more...

The white doesn't have The blue background, like,

The borders to it. It's very subtle difference.

I like it.

You can't have a shark tank Without a shark,

So we have the horn shark.

Oh, wow. I love the horn sharks.

They're so cute. They're a cold water species.

These sharks have A blunt face, bony head,

And they have These little ridges

That run Around their head.

That's why they get the name.

Are these super aggressive?

They are very, very peaceful Bottom-dwelling sharks,

And they don't even Get that big.

They get about a foot long, Or maybe a little bit more.

What do they eat? Crustaceans, sea urchins.

Oh, that's the interesting Thing about them,

That when they eat Sea urchins,

They get blue teeth Because of that.

So that's one thing About these sharks.

Why do they get blue teeth?

The urchin's blood.

Oh. Really?

That's interesting.

Perfect. I think we've done well.

I think the sharks are going To be happy with the sharks.

Brett: and now it's time For a quick fish fact.

The bull shark is diadromous,

Meaning they can swim between Salt and fresh water with ease.

Bull sharks live Mostly in salt water,

But migrate to have their Offspring in freshwater rivers,

Where other sharks cannot enter.

So building this tank Was very difficult

Because you made Multiple changes,

So we made a custom Aluminum stand

So we could have The exact weight

That was needed for this area.

That's fantastic.

At least we got one of The weight issues fixed.

We actually got a box Of props that you sent us.

You sent us the helmet, You sent us some sticks,

You sent us some pucks as well.

Yeah. So everything that you see In here is actually artificial,

And it's been replicated By our fabricators.

They got the goalie mask, too.

Yeah. We got the goalie mask.

And doug murray's stick.

That's where all My goals went.

Shark head, there you go. You guys wanted a shark head,

So we made it so you can See it from both sides.

So when you're on this side, you Can see the mouth open one way,

And open on the other side.

So it's like the skaters Are skating through,

The fish are going To be swimming through.

I think it looks fantastic.

They got the red eye, Got the colors.

Tell them what you Did with the teeth.

Well, what we did is We actually took real teeth

And measured it up,

And we casted it to fit In there to make it soft,

So when the fish Swim through it...

They won't get cut. Correct.

We didn't have To hurt the fish,

So we had to custom make Those teeth from real teeth.

Oh, wow. Wow.

That's amazing.

Very creative.

One of the most important Things, obviously,

Is the sharks, obviously, You guys, being the sharks.

So inside here you have Multiple species of sharks,

One of them being A banded cat shark.

These guys are Night dwellers.

They're going to Come out at night.

They're also very Sensitive to light,

So at night time when the Lights actually come down,

That's when these Guys can come out.

You also have A horned shark in there,

And in the wild these guys, What they're famous for,

Is catching their Prey in low tides,

Not like you, eating sandwiches Up in the concessions.

I know you.

In low tides, basically what Happens is these sharks go out,

They catch crustaceans In the low tides.

Sometimes they get caught,

But they actually use Their fins to walk.

So they can actually walk back On the sand into the ocean.

I see. Yeah.

Also, in here you have Something called a mimic tang,

And these guys are In the surgeon family,

And the reason they call them In the surgeon family

Is because they actually have These little things in the back

That look like scalpels,

And they use them For protection.

Like the hip check.

Now all these fish can Coexist in the same tank?

All can coexist In the same tank.

And, last but not least,

Is a fish that everybody Says it's hard to find.

It's called a unicorn tang.

Everybody is looking For the unicorn.

And you found one? I found one.

So we have a fish in there, It actually grows a horn about,

I would say, an inch Or two out of its head.

You can see it right there. Oh, wow. That's pretty cool.

You guys did great. We asked for a lot.

The big thing is we wanted a Centerpiece for our fans to see,

And this shark tank nails it. Our fans are going to love it.

It's going to be a talking Piece, a social media piece,
