That will house their favorite
Critters, sea horses,

Just like in their shop.

To really turn some heads
At macna,

A fully functioning
Soda compartment

Will dispense ice-cold beverages

When customers
And fish fans alike

Deposit money into the machine.

While roger tries to figure out

How to get the fizz
In the vending machine,

The l-shaped piece of acrylic
For the law-and-military tank

Is being pieced together.

Now wayde and I can start
Planning the coral reef.

Keeping corals alive and growing

Is a delicate mix
Of art and science,

So since this live-reef tank
Is so deep,

We need a lighting system
That's powerful enough

To reach the bottom and keep
These corals healthy.

So we've called in a couple
Of experts to help us out.

So, what do you got?

What we brought
Is the apex system here,

Which is a controller system
That's used on most reefs,

'cause it monitors everything
In your reef tank --

Ph, temperature, salinity,
Everything.

Since we're putting different
Varieties of coral in the tank,

We need to be able to meet
Their different needs.

For the corals to grow.

Regular fish lighting, you put
It on once, and that's it.

Live-reef tank.

And reef-dwelling sea life.

We'll top the aquarium off
With custom lighting

To keep this reef growing strong

Master, to make exact replicas.

The problem is, the metals
Are made from...Metal,

And they can't go
Inside the tank

'cause over time,
Salt water will corrode them

And release toxins that will
Be harmful to the fish.

Yeah, but our boy denny,
He got ways around it.

So, I went out and I found
This stuff. It's mica powder.

And it's basically
Crushed-up rock.

There's no metal
In it whatsoever,

But it has a metallic look to it
When it's done.

So it's gonna look like metal?
Exactly.

All right,
So, what are we gonna do?

I want to focus on this one.
This one's gonna be pewter.

I got some silver here, and I've
Got, like, antique gold,

And I want to mix these two

To get a little bit
Of a pewter color.

Okay.

And mix these up,
And then the idea...

Is we're gonna take
This brush.

And we're gonna brush it
Into the mold.

And then you pour the smooth-on
Product in there?

Correct. It's an exothermic
Product, so it uses heat to set.

Look at that.
It's like liquid metal, dude.

The first one is a tank
Called law and military.

It's a 400-gallon
Live-reef tank.

Yeah.

A really cool tank.

It's a vending-machine tank.

The top -- we're gonna do
A mini reef tank.

And on the side,
We're gonna do a sea-horse tank.

For law and military, I figured
Since we're at the coral,

I mean,
Why don't we start here?

Corals are an actual animal

That have tentacles, a mouth,
And a stomach.

They grow as polyps

And attach themselves in groups
To form colonies.

Why don't we start off

With some of these brain corals
Right here?

See the brains?
Cool brains.

You know what's really good
About propagating corals?

It's saving the environment,
It's helping the industry,

And we're learning.

We're learning each day now
To actually grow corals

Instead of taking it
From the environment.

Every single cultured coral
That we sell

Is one less wild caught.

We need fish to work
With the corals.

So, what about

I like the fact that the males

Also keep the babies
Inside their pouch.

They're actually great
Camouflage guys.

They can eventually change
To match that environment.

Sea horses change color
As a defense mechanism

To hide from predators.

They also use color changing

To communicate emotion
During courtship.

We usually keep, like,
Yellow chain inside the tank

For them to hold onto,

And that helps them
Actually keep their color.

We have tank-raised clownfish,

These are black ice clowns,

And you notice that they have
Some crazy markings on them.

The cleaner shrimp --
I like the way they set
Up an actual station

And they're able to go around

And clean different parasites
Off of fish.

Then over here,
We got sea horses,

And look, they're hooking
Onto the live gorgonias.

I mean, it's pretty awesome.

It was imperative that it looks
Like one of your tanks.

So we made lady justice.

So we actually had denny,
Our prop guy,

Re-create some
Of the medals.

Sergeant major, combat infantry,
Bronze star.

That is perfect.

We have all kinds
Of little critters.

We call those guys
The cleanup crew.

There's mexican
Turbo snails.

There's all kinds of things
That are in it

That do well
At cleaning the algae.

They sift through the sand.

There's also a diamond goby
In there.

The diamond goby is so cool
Because what this guy does,

He actually intakes sand
Into his mouth,

Eats whatever's
In the sand,

And then spits sand
Out of his gills.

You have hammer corals.
You have branch corals.

You have brain corals.

You have clams.

Those guys are great.
They're filter feeders.

The great thing
About a reef aquarium

Is that whenever
You look inside this tank,

You're always gonna see
Something happening.

And in six months
To a year from now,

Every coral is gonna be
Three, four times the size.
