Sometimes, we forget

Sleeping keeps my mind sharp,

Designing a tank
And taking measurements

On one side of the country

And installing it on another
Takes some serious brain power.

We've run into about
Every single roadblock
You can imagine

Installing tanks
On location.

So, our plumbing's off
3/4 everywhere.

All of our bulkhead connections
Are wrong.

This ain't gonna hold.

So, that was great, dude.

I admit -- on occasion, we have
Gotten are wires crossed.

Man #2 : wayde,
I got your drawing.

But it's not really
What I envisioned.

There was definitely
A mistake

And a miscommunication
On measurement.

Especially when you entrust
The communications

To a grumpy geriatric.

You want me to skype?

Especially then.

We were in woburn,
Massachusetts, to do a tank

For a high-tech
Robotics company.

And when you're dealing
With robotics,

Attention to detail
Is everything.

[ whirring ]

Louis: three different tanks,
I'm thinking.

So, right here,
Boom, boom, boom.
I got a great idea.

I know you can program
These robots to do just
About anything, right?

Yeah, almost anything.

What about making them
Feed each one of the tanks?

That'd be awesome.

Take the thing,
Put it in the middle,

It zips around, feeds one tank,
Feeds the other...

Feeds the other. It'd be like
The world's largest fish feeder.

[ chuckles ]
We can do it.

Wayde:
The microstar system aquarium

Will consist
Of three large tanks --

One square, one hexagon,
And one round --

Spanning 18 feet across.

The centerpiece of this aquarium
Is a large robotic arm

That will extend out

And be programmed to feed
The fish in all three tanks.

It'll know the right amount
Of food to dispense

At the exact time of each day --
Some real high-tech stuff.

Leave it to brett
To promise a tank

Where precise measurements
Are needed

To program a robot
From across the country.

My biggest mistake was
To ask my dad to skype with lou.

Take the measurements

And map them out
On the finished tanks.

I'm gonna cut these

And we're gonna make these holes
Just right for the robotic arm.

So, I get a call from lou,

And he seems
A little bit short with me,

I guess he wasn't that impressed
With the general.

At this point, we already
Cut out the feeding holes

And packed up the tanks.

There's nothing else to do

So, we hopped a plane
Back to massachusetts

And hoped for the best.

Of course,
We almost didn't make it

Because somebody had to get
Stopped by airport security.

[ laughs ]

So, my man is getting frisked.

He's got raw steaks in his bag.

You're not supposed to bring

And we got the tank installed.

This is a pretty big zebra eel,
So be careful, okay?

That's all the fish.
That's the last eel.

After all the back-and-forth,
It was finally time

To show the world
The first robotic fish feeder.

The tanks looked great,

But we still had to prove
Our measurements for the feeder

Were spot-on.

Yeah, if they were off,

The robot would be slinging
Squid and brine shrimp

All over the place.

Did we build the world's
Largest fish feeder?

This is the moment of truth,
So, vlad, I think it's time.

Let's see if this thing
Really works.

And the coolest part is --

The robot knows what fish food
To put into each tank

For the different species.

Maybe my dad wasn't so clueless
After all.

Guys, we've confirmed we've made
The world's largest fish feeder.

Wayde: each of the three
Geometrically shaped robot tanks

Were stocked
With predators of the sea --

Sharks, stingrays, and eels.

It's 2,400 gallons of water,
Weighing a whopping 12 tons --

All that, and it has
An automated feeder.

When you get on a forklift
On any jobsite,

You better know
How that forklift works.

I don't want him
Hitting the tank.

About the travel that's involved

When you're the number-one
Aquarium manufacturer

In the world.

One of the things that makes it
Difficult on location

Is not having
All of your own equipment.

Yeah. Like when we did
That 35-foot massive tank

For the casino san diego.

Once it's filled with water,

This tank is gonna weigh
Almost 15 tons.

Can your floor
Handle that much weight?

We dug out the floor.
We repoured the concrete.

So it'll withstand any weight
You want to put on there.

It's gonna be more than a tank.

It's gonna be a wall dividing
The casino from the bar.

The main challenge will be
Building it in vegas

And transporting the tank
And the stand into the casino.

The only way in is
Through the front door, so...

Of the casino.

Eh, they're moneymakers for us,
So we can't move them too long.

We can't take a long time
To move them.

Wayde:
The guys got going on the stand
And tank immediately.

Than I had imagined.

Then it was time
To get it off to valley view.

And since this 35-foot giant

Wouldn't fit in my luggage,

I had to get a 45-foot trailer
To get it down to san diego.
[ horn honks ]

We trucked that thing
330 miles.

Since we weren't at home,
We didn't have our forklifts,

So the guys at valley view --
They lent us theirs.

And like the tank,
These things were huge.

Yeah, it looked like

You guys were driving
Transformers out there.

On any jobsite,
Every forklift's different,

So what you have to do is kind
Of get used to the forklifts.

When you're moving a tank
Like this, you better know
How that forklift works.

This is why we put "B"
On the little baby forklift.

[ laughs ]

Brett:
Redneck, let's go.

[ beeping ]

Wayde:
The tank and stand --

They're laying side by side
On the truck.

What I wanted to do
Was grab the front of the stand,

Drag it out so I can get
The forks underneath

To lift the stand off.

Oh!

When you put
The forks through,

I didn't want to hit the tank
And crack the tank.

Brett:
Redneck, down!

Easy there.

I don't want him
Hitting the tank!

The stand wobbled but made it
Down into the casino safely.

The acrylic part of this tank
Is heavy

And not as sturdy
As the steel stand.

We had to be careful.

We lose our momentum
On the carpet, we're dead.

It's stuck on the carpet!

Is a behemoth at 35 feet long,

It's a floor-to-ceiling
Room divider,

It took over 400 man-hours,

And its 30,000 pounds sits
On a reinforced-concrete floor.

They're supposed to be
On the other jobsite.

They shipped it
To the wrong place.

When you're on the road.

And collaborating

What we do is produce
A rendering or a drawing.

A badass 700-gallon tank

That's gonna look like
A headboard over a bed.

The arch is gonna be
Six feet across.

The steel stands
Are gonna be encased in wood

And look like cabinetry.

The trouble is --

We have to make this
All in the shop 3,000 miles away

And hope it comes together when
We install it in north carolina.

We got back to vegas
And got to work right away.

Every aspect of this tank
Has to be perfectly executed

To seamlessly fit before we ship
It down south for the install.

Not to mention, we need to fit
In by acting like gentlemen.

Sharks for the bigger ones.

They don't stop growing.

As you feed them,
They get bigger and bigger,

And eventually,
They'll outgrow their home.

To go there, catch them,

And bring them all the way
Out to the island?

The tank shipped to new york
Just fine, so we're all set.

We'll put them in tubs

The nurse shark
Is so humongous, man.

Are they gonna be able

Wayde: she can probably get up
To about 6, 7 feet max,

And when she gets
A little bigger and too big

And you see her not moving
Around too well,
