And everybody's been working Really hard,

So we got something That we want to cool you Guys off a little bit.

Brett: we're meeting With their marketing team

To go over a tank they want.

This tank is gonna be A big addition

To their newly renovated bar, The black & blue lounge.

This is the spot right here. This is it.

Wow! This is huge!

This whole length?

Oh, yeah, whole length.

Wall to wall, About 35 feet.

Separates the casino From the black & blue lounge.

So you're gonna see it From both sides?

Yeah.

Brett: when I walked in And saw the space,

I mean, it was huge.

This tank is gonna be Absolutely amazing.

So, tell me A little bit about

What you guys Were kind of thinking.

We want a nice transition

Between the casino And the lounge.

People will be coming Just to come see the aquarium.

Eric: we have a million-dollar Display in the front,

But we want this To blow that away.

35 feet's Definitely a "Wow" factor.

That's why we called atm, man. You guys make it happen.

Brett: a huge challenge With this build

Is gonna be Seamlessly integrating

The mammoth 35-foot-long tank Into a pre-existing space.

It's gonna be more than a tank.

It's gonna be a wall dividing The casino from the bar.

And since it will be so massive,

We'll fill it With huge coral inserts

And extra-large Eye-catching fish.

Jackpot, baby!

I'm gonna need a steel stand At least 48 inches tall

To get all that filtration Equipment in there.

Okay, well, obviously, Whatever you guys need --

You're the experts, so...

Yeah, the tank Will go from here up.

Perfect.

Brett: Once it's filled with water,

This tank is gonna weigh Almost 15 tons.

Can your floor Handle that much weight?

We dug out the floor. We repoured the concrete.

So it'll withstand any weight You want to put on there.

It's a very large job. It's not One that you do every day.

I got to figure out how we're Gonna get this thing in here.

Well, the only way in is Through the front door, so...

That's it?

That's it -- right through The front of the casino.

Can we move any Of this stuff, maybe?

Eh, they're moneymakers for us, So we can't move too long.

We can't take a long time To move them.

The problem here is That this tank's 35 feet.

It's a casino That's running 24 hours.

We got to move this tank Off a truck,

Go through Glass front doors here,

Then we got to make turns,

Move these tables And slot machines.

It's gonna be rough.

We got a lot of work Ahead of us.

The tank is the size Of a greyhound bus almost.

It's huge.

Wait a minute. Where are we Gonna put something that --

We got five jobs right now

That's taking up Most of the space now!

We're gonna have To make room.

I got to figure out The steel stand with him.

That's where we start.

Brett's gonna take care Of all the fish

And all the coral inserts And theming that's Going in the tank.

Then we got to make room. We got to pump this out.

It's a bar that's basically Made out of ice.

A whole bar made of ice? This is gonna be fun.

The minus5° bar is located

In the world-famous Monte carlo resort and casino

Right here On the las vegas strip,

Where temperatures Reach 110 degrees.

It's too cold in there to wear Your typical desert gear,

But they offer you some pretty Unique options to keep warm.

Look, I got little paws.

Wow! It is an ice bar.

Everything is.

Brett: they want a tank In this cold?

We don't do frozen fish.

We've got 90 tons of ice.

90 tons of ice?

Wow.

It took us weeks To build this whole thing

With chainsaws, Blowtorches, and chisels.

Brett: nice.

We got to make sure these guys Like the tank.

They spent weeks carving This place.

Yeah. You don't want to piss off These chainsaw experts.

True.

It's amazing What we can do,

But I am really ready to take it To the next level.

I need the "It" thing that People are gonna talk about.

I think a tank encrusted in ice Would just be amazing.

Our key is gonna be Making it so it's not A fish tank ice cube.

There's a lot of Challenges here.

I mean, don't get us wrong. This thing's gonna look great.

I called you guys For a reason.

You got me thinking. Good.

We have all this equipment. What are we gonna do about heat?

I'll tell you guys, Heat and ice do not mix,

And we have to be very careful, You know, how we do it.

You got to promise me you're Gonna be incredibly careful.

We've got a lot of money Tied up in this ice,

And it takes a while To build.

The smallest amount Of heat,

Even if it's from one of Your tools or something,

You set it down, it burns a hole Right in the ice.

I think It will be no problem.

What kind of fish You thinking about?

That's where you guys Are the experts,

So I'm gonna trust Your opinion

To come up with something Really spectacular.

I'm thinking, maybe -- What about jellyfish?

It kind of fits in With the ice bar theme.

They're kind of clear,

And they'd be a perfect fit With the ice.

Jellyfish? Bring this wall to life for me.

Jellyfish aren't easy To come by,

So we're gonna have to use A special supplier

In the philippines.

Why don't we get a little Drawing going first?

Let's get out of here And warm up a little bit.

It's cold!

I can't feel my toes.

Brett: the minus5° ice bar tank Will sit on a stand

At the perfect viewing height For customers.

We'll fill it with jellyfish

Because they can survive In cooler waters.

But cool for jellyfish Is still hot for an ice bar.

We need the water To stay at 60 degrees.

Heating the water Without melting the ice

Is gonna be very difficult.

Wayde: hey, hey. What's going on?

We have to build a tank Inside this ice bar.

And we have to keep The water warm

And work with the temperature That's 28 degrees.

So we have To perform a test

To see if the water's gonna Freeze in a cold environment.

We got to control That water.

Okay, and this has to do With me why?

We need to actually rent A walk-in freezer,

Like a big one, Like the size of this room.

We need you to call up To rent one,

So you got to call Like a morgue

Or like a meat market Or some storage place.

I'm not going to a morgue.

Just get online a place You can rent a freezer.

I will get it done. I will take care of it.

When it comes To the casino tank,

We're pretty pressed for space In the shop.

But somehow we managed To make enough room

To get the 35-foot Steel stand done.

Now we're gonna jump On the plumbing.

[ telephone rings ]

Atm. It's wayde.

Are you kidding me?

That's a problem.

Now it sounds like all that work Was for nothing.

[ sighs ] Man.

Brett is not gonna be happy To hear this.

Brett: hey. What's up?

Not good.

I was on the phone for The last 20 minutes with them.

It's got to get done.

Ridiculous!

Wayde: we just finished The steel stand

For the 35-foot-long Casino tank.

It's looking great.

Then I got a call From the client.

Brett: hey, what's up?

Not good.

We got to cut this stand.

We got to what?

We got to drop This whole thing 6 inches.

But it's already done!

They think It's gonna be too tall now.

We originally planned For a 48-inch steel stand

To accommodate All the filtration.

Then the customer calls,

And they want more tank, Less steel stand.

6 inches is the most We can lower it

Without compromising The plumbing.

I was on the phone for The last 20 minutes with him.

It's got to be cut, Re-powder-coated.

Let's get fernando To cut the steel stand down,

All of them, right now.

It's got to get done.

I don't care who's back here. You get them all on it.

Ridiculous!

We had to lug the steel stand Out of the shop

To have it cut down And re-powder-coated.

Now with the extra space,

We had room to work On the actual tank.

Now that we could see The true scale of the tank,

We got to figure out The theming.

And lord knows We need a lot of it.

I'm big. I'm a big guy.

Inside this tank, dude, I disappear. Look.

Look at this. Look at me.

How long this tank is? It's long.

Wayde: man, I feel tiny In this tank.

Now I know how your brain feels In your skull.

Brett: Obviously, casino --

The first thing you think of Is poker chips.

Make stacks of them and put them Inside the coral insert.

Playing cards, the ones that are Made out of all plastic --

We could fan them out.

Oh, like, if it's a full house Or something.

You find plastic big dice, Colored dice.

I always like to take 5 bucks And put it on 25.

What does that mean? Roulette wheel.

That thing that spins?

I like to spin A roulette wheel.

Yeah, The thing that spins,

Like the pie case At the diner.

Maybe put, like, A wheel in here,

Bubbles come up And it spins.

You could do that.

Maybe.

This thing's 35 feet long Of theming.

If you can do That roulette wheel,

I think that would take it Over the top.

Where's the enthusiasm?

I thought all rednecks Were supposed to be excited

About getting her done.

They need a walk-in freezer So they can do a heater test

On the jellyfish tank For the ice bar.

Wayde's suggestion -- The morgue.

Sometimes I wonder about him.

So I went to the place that Actually makes the sculptures

For the minus5° ice bar.

Their whole office is a freezer,

And they gave me souvenirs To bring back to atm.

Hey. I need you to come out To the shop.

There's something wrong.

There's a situation. I need you to go out there.

Who else is out there?

Ooh. I missed him.

I seen better aim On a blind person.

He's so big, And you missed him completely.

Oh, my god. I am in so much trouble.

Brett: Heather hooked it up,

So now we're gonna Head across town

To test the heater For the ice bar.

We're meeting with The ice occasions owner, ryan,

And his master sculptor, kurt.

They had these Huge walk-in freezers

That get down to 20 degrees,

Where they create these Incredibly lifelike structures

That they're known for.

These freezers should mimic The conditions at the ice bar.

We make ice blocks 24/7.

We probably make close to 900 To 1,000 a month.

You sit here day and night, Make these blocks,

You bring them Into the freezer,

And then you guys do your crazy Sculpture and all that stuff.

You good at it?

I'm no good. This is what I have him for.

So, tell me What you got going on.

We're doing a project In the ice bar.

We needed like a freezer

We can actually put the tank in With the water,

Get it cold like where We're gonna be putting it.

And then we have to Regulate it inside

To make sure We keep the fish alive,

Without melting The surrounding ice.

Do you have Any ice cream?

Uh, no ice cream.

Our hope is that we can use The submersible heater.

We want to keep the water About 60, 65 degrees

To keep the jellyfish alive.

We also don't want the heat

To radiate through the Inch-and-a-quarter acrylic

And melt the ice on the outside Of the tank.

You guys, I think we'll be okay In about an hour.

We'll know if this works Or not.

Since we got some time To kill,

Why don't you show us Some of your carvings,

And maybe we can get Some inspiration

On what we're gonna For this tank?

Of solitude Type of looking thing.

So, it would be a little Something like this.

That'll give you your depth.

I was adding Some texture.

You ever carve A jellyfish before?

Can we do a jellyfish on the top Of the tank?

The design is great and all,

But I'm anxious to get back to The tank to check on the heater.

Ice.

This ain't gonna work.

This heater is strong enough To heat a 200-gallon tank.

That's twice the size Of our aquarium,

But it appears to be no match For the frigidaire.

Look. The heater's freezing up.

Everybody, Get your hands on the tank!

All right, bring it down slow. Watch your fingers!

The top don't match up With the bottom.

Brett: are you kidding me?

We're at ice occasions In their giant walk-in freezer

To test our submersible heater For the ice-bar tank.

Since the tank will be In a room made of ice,

We have to keep the jellyfish From freezing

And the surrounding ice From melting.

Let's just say that melting Isn't our current issue.

Wayde: This ain't gonna work.

Man: it's not good.

How's the heater on there?

Look. The heater's freezing up.

Dropping heaters Aren't gonna work.

I'm thinking definitely Like an inline heater.

So am I.

Plumbing Underneath the tank.

We'll constantly Keep the water going,

And at least We'll get a lot more heat.

Let's go back to the shop.

Wayde: we're gonna have to add An inline heater

To our plumbing under the tank.

It's definitely gonna get The job done,

But it's gonna cost 10 times More than the submersible one.

It was the cost I was hoping to avoid,

But we got to get This job done right.

The valley view tank Is 35 feet long.

I walk out to the shop,

And I realize there's a wave In the front panel.

This wave will distort The view into the tank,

And I'm not about to give them Something that's not perfect.

When we bond two sheets Together, there's a seam.

Where that seam is, Sometimes there's a wave.

We have to do a lot of sanding On both panels

To make sure there's no wave.

It's not easy to do.

Redneck.

This whole tank's Got a wave in it.

We still have to sand And polish it.

I got guys on it.

We got one guy Sanding this now.

It's gonna take days To sand this.

We need more guys On this right now.

We got multiple things Going on.

Everybody's working On this project, though.

All right, look. We got to do "A," "B," and "C."

Tank is "A," okay?

The inserts are gonna be "B," Top/bottom "C."

Whoever's doing the top And bottom now,

Get them on this tank.

We got sanding And polishing.

There's hours here, dude.

I know. I'm working on it, though.

Right now It's getting real serious.

We're definitely behind.

We got to sand this thing And get it just right,

So we got to get all men On deck.

This job could have taken days To get done,

But once everybody was on board, We kicked ass.

Now, that's up to my standards.

The 35-foot-long casino tank

Is sucking up a lot Of the shop's resources.

But since the sand got redone,

Fernando was freed up To work on the ice bar.

Noel from minus5° warned us

That people in the bar Might get a little "Handsy"

With the tank After a few drinks,

So we created a lip on the edge To keep the tank in place.

When this thing's done,

The likes of charlie sheen

Couldn't knock this tank Off the stand.

[ laughs ]

Look at this guy.

We walk out to the shop And redneck was sleeping.

He must have had Another long night.

Redneck doesn't have Any set hours.

He works whenever he wants,

So he can take a break Whenever he wants.

So we never really bust His chops.

But right now we really got To work on this ice-bar tank,

So it's time to wake him up.

[ air horn sounds ]

Brett: time to get up!

Come on, we got work! You didn't hurt him, did you?

[ air horn sounds ] Doesn't even hurt my ear.

Dude, why would you do that To your own ear?

Huh?

[ laughs ]

Come on, red.

He wasn't so happy.

Dude, let's just check out The ice-bar tank.

Come on, redneck.

You got to remember, This is a jellyfish tank.

The issues That we're gonna have

Is to make sure The jellies

Actually go in a circular motion In this tank.

Jellyfish are very fragile.

They can die if they come Into contact with the corners

Or get caught In the filtration system.

So we need to create a current

So the jellyfish move In a circular motion safely.

So, what I'm thinking Of doing is,

We put a diffuser plate.

We'll put that on an angle here, Like a 45-degree angle --

One in the front, I would say.

So this plate's Gonna diffuse the water.

We'll put a diffuser plate

With a bunch of tiny holes In the bottom corner

And another In the opposite top corner.

Jets on the bottom of the tank Will shoot water right up.

It'll bounce off The top diffuser plate

And then will be sucked down by A pump behind the bottom plate.

This will create A constant circular current,

Making sure the jellyfish Will never come in contact

With the corners of The tank or the filtration.

We got to make sure That those jellies

Don't actually get caught On those holes,

'cause those jellies Will turn to jam.

I like jam. It's got more chunks In it than jelly.

Well, that's good for you,

But it's not good For the jellyfish.

I think this is Gonna work great.

Okay.

Wayde: I'm really proud Of this shop.

They worked their rear ends off Through the night

To get the inserts ready On the casino tank.

That tank's 35 foot long.

Now comes the tricky part.

We got to make sure all hands On deck and it goes smooth.

This tank's 35 feet long.

These inserts weigh 6,000, 7,000 pounds.

It's easier to take the tank And slide it over the inserts

Than putting the inserts Into the aquarium.

Everybody, Get your hands on the tank!

Let's do it.

Bring it up.

A little more, chuy!

Straight up!

Bring it down slow. We're good.

This process is very tricky.

As we're lowering the tanks,

We can actually damage The inserts,

Or we can scratch the tank, So we got to be very careful.

Nick. Look at the other side.

All right, bring it down slow. Watch your fingers!

We got the tank lowered On the 2x4s.

Right now it doesn't line up. It's cockeyed.

I want the tank Completely down.

The top don't match up With the bottom.

That's a big issue.

I don't know If the tank's too long

Or the bottom's too short.

I don't know if it's not sitting On it correctly,

But this is a problem.

Are you kidding me?

Brett: now it's time For a quick fish fact.

Find out after the break.

Brett: the answer is...

Jellyfish may lack a brain And a heart,

But they sure are eager eaters.

A small mouth on the underside Of the jellyfish

Swallows and digests food whole.

The prey is broken down In this cavity,

And nutrients are delivered Throughout the body.

Then the same opening is used To release waste.

Now, that's what I call A real potty mouth.

Wayde: all right, Bring it down slow.

Watch your fingers!

Keep going.

We lowered the valley view tank On its face,

And it's not lining up.

We can be dealing with A big problem right now.

First things first -- Let's get this squared up.

You got some room, Twisting room -- not much.

If the walls of the tank

Don't line up With the bottom perfectly,

We can't guarantee A perfect seal.

Straighten the tank out. Let's go, guys.

And when you're dealing With 3,000 gallons of water,

You need a reliable seal.

Since the lift straps Are off already,

We're gonna see if our guys Can lift almost 2 tons by hand.

One, two, three!

[ groaning ]

That ain't going.

More.

[ creaking ]

This ain't working.

Hey.

Line it up!

[ groaning continues ]

Down!

Good. We're good.

We're good.

I'm real happy.

We got this thing down. We maneuvered it in place.

You know what? It does line up,

So all we got to do is glue it And move forward.

Now that The heavy lifting's done,

We get to fly to l.A.

To exotic reef imports To do my favorite part --

Theming the tank with fish.

Look at that -- a huge naso. Look at the size of those fish.

All kinds of stuff.

This tank is 35 feet long,

And little schooling fish Just won't cut it,

So right off the bat,

I'm thinking we go check out Some sailfin tanks.

All right, here we are, Right here, guys.

There's two types Of sailfin tanks.

This is the desjardini.

They're beautiful.

Far and away The most beautiful of the two.

They can get up To dinner-plate size.

They can get a good size, And they school.

35 feet long, Going up and around --

That would look Unbelievable.

Wayde: what's really cool About these guys --

When they're on their side,

They look like a spade On a playing card.

This is perfect For a casino tank.

How about a pilot fish?

You got the gold fish.

You got casino.

You're chasing That pot of gold.

Brett: everyone wants to win Gold in a casino,

And, yeah, This guy may be small now,

But he'll grow To over 2 feet long.

All we need now is something To represent the high rollers,

The big fish.

Easy. The emperor angel.

Wayde: they're like me. He's the boss.

They're mutually aggressive, You know?

We can only add one In the tank.

So we want to make sure

It's gonna be the nicest one We can find.

Dude, He'll run that tank.

So we're definitely Getting one of these.

Every big tank -- you have To have a big trigger.

Love those fish.

They got the beautiful colors, Pastels.

Kind of looks like paint On a canvas.

You know what I mean? It does.

And he's got a lot Of room.

35 feet long -- I mean, He can swim constantly.

What size do you think You can get that for?

Oh, I'd go with at least A 12- to 15-inch one.

So you're thinking One at least this big?

And they get Real thick around, too.

I think we're good.

The hardest part About this install

Is working With you boneheads.

He looked like the baggage Handler at o'hare airport.

And look at redneck -- "Dancing with squirrels."

Dude, I think he's got rabies.

Wayde: the tank's been In the freezer for a while,

So it's real cold.

The water we're gonna put in's Gonna be a lot warmer.

So we got to fill it up Nice and slow.

Because if we shock the acrylic

With too quick of a jump In temperature,

It could crack.

You know, It's 42 degrees.

It's 42 degrees?

We have to come up Another 18 degrees.

We got to get this heater Cranked up.

What's that's saying?

It's saying 47.8.

And I don't know how long It takes for that to kick on.

It just popped The circuit.

We're down.

All the lights Are going off over here.

Right now all I know is We tripped the circuit.

I don't know what else Is on that line.

If it's the freezer,

We could find ourselves standing In a room filled with water.

Go find the breaker. I got to get this back running.

Wayde: It went out again.

Redneck: It just popped the circuit.

We're hooking up the pump And the heater

On the jellyfish tank,

But their electrical panel -- It's giving us major issues.

All the lights are going off Over here.

Put your hand On the bottom coil.

Redneck: Kicked on, popped the circuit.

This whole place can melt And water will be everywhere.

Luckily, Right now the monte carlo,

They're sending down Their electrician

To put in a separate circuit For the pump and heater.

You're a lifesaver, man.

You know, with all This chaos going on,

I just realized brett's m.I.A.

But he shouldn't be Hard to find.

He's dressed like a bear.

I snuck out to play some slots.

I might be cold, But I'm also on fire.

But these are moon jellies,

And they're pretty much Harmless.

Still, latex gloves Will prevent some irritation.

This one's a fighter.

This one would make A perfect toupee for brett.

We've done Some really cool stuff,

But look at this thing.

Brett: I think having an Aquarium inside of an ice bar --

People are gonna be like, "How do you do this?"

In there, It's gonna be 60 degrees.

That heater's 2,000 watts.

So, is that 2,000 watts Gonna melt my ice bar?

No. We made sure that It's an inline heater system,

And we spoke To the ice guy,

We had to rent a special 40-foot flatbed truck

We got to lift this tank up With these forklifts just right.

If anything goes, There could be a disaster.

It was like Synchronized swimming

With a really ugly Swim team.

So it has to look seamless.

There's less than an inch Of play on each side,

So this thing has to fit snugger Than wayde in a tutu.

As soon as I saw the tank Get on the steel stand,

I was happy. That was my sign of relief.

I was smiling.

I knew we were home free From that point on.

Once the plumbing was done,

We had a little surprise For redneck

To make the install A little easier.

Two words, dude.

Natural seawater.

That'll work.

That's the way We do it, baby.

Brett: one huge advantage Of using natural seawater

From ocean in motion

Is that it will help redneck get The water chemistry just right,

And it's healthier for the fish.

Plus, we can pump in 72 gallons a minute.

This thing would be sitting In the basement right now.

The natural seawater arrived At the ideal temperature,

So once the tank was filled,

We added bacteria And seeded biomaterial

To prepare the tank For the introduction of fish.

'cause we're A little bit too big.

I decided to call Our buddy lance

From california Custom aquatics

And get him to come down And put the wheel on for us.

You see we got That problem right there.

The wheel's hanging off?

It's got a little peg That it spins around,

And we got to pump this out And get it done quick.

Eric: yeah, it looks great With all the cards.

Very cool.

The only thing that's not in Here is a working slot machine.

Well, the roulette wheel's Moving, though, right?

Yeah, it is moving.

Wayde had redneck Make an actual bubbler.

It pushes it around like a wheel So it spins.

And the fish are amazing.

We have an emperor angel.

He's kind of like The high roller.

We also have the heniakas that Look like they have long hair,

You know, long streamers.

'cause they see people Trying to rip their hair out,

Standing at a table -- "Aah!"

You know what I mean?

And then we also have A blueface angel

Because when I start losing, I get real mad.

I turn like purplish blue.

They don't lose here. Nobody loses.

We pulled off two extremely Different tanks this week.

One was a logistical nightmare In a freezing-cold ice bar.

And the other was a physical Monstrosity in sunny san diego.

The ice-bar tank In the monte carlo --

It weighs a half a ton,

It's filled With glowing moon jellies,

It took us 20 hours to install,

And it's kept at 60 degrees In a 23-degree room.

It's been a week, and I'm just Starting to feel my toes.

Brett: The valley view casino tank Is a behemoth at 35 feet long,

It's a floor-to-ceiling Room divider,

It took over 400 man-hours,

And its 30,000 pounds sits On a reinforced concrete floor.

We couldn't have finished Either tank

Without the atm family Busting their butts for us,

So wayde and I decided To stop by the ice bar

And bring them back A refreshing little treat.

This is gonna be fun. Let's go.
