And I really want to surprise Him with an aquarium.

What better to put In the aquarium than an octopus?

Are you nuts?

Look at that. There ain't enough.

It's almost 2:00 in the morning.

This is where we started the Tank situation here at la jolla.

My favorite Is this little guy,

Who, as soon as we Clean up all the messes --

He's actually A sand-sifting goby,

And he's taking the algae That's growing on the sand,

Sifting it, and spitting The sand out through his gills.

I love it. Cleaning the tank.

That's my little buddy Right there.

So, we want to take it To the next level.

We want to see something Bigger, badder, crazier.

So, basically, We've got our roots in surf.

You know, we've got our roots In skateboarding.

We zip around the halls On skateboards all day long.

So, I was figuring, What better way

To incorporate The fish tank

Than into our skate zone Right here?

This place is bad, dude. This is awesome.

I want a ramp/aquarium hybrid Conjoined thing together.

So, a skateboard ramp/aquarium Is what you're talking about.

That'syes. A pretty cool idea.

We've never built One of those before,

But that's definitely A cool idea.

Yeah. It's got to be real.

It's got to be an actual Functioning skateboard ramp.

Yeah, we could do it. It's no problem.

For another exotic aquarium.

And we have All these animals.

He had an iguana.

But the one thing He really loves is an octopus.

So I thought, what better to put In the aquarium than an octopus?

Heather: Ever since wayde swam with An octopus on our honeymoon,

He's been Completely obsessed with them.

He's constantly looking at them On the computer

And always Bugging me to get one.

And it's a great gift for wayde

Because he's always juggling So many different projects,

It's like he has eight arms.

Are you nuts?

I love it. I love it. Come on.

Octopuses are Conniving little creatures

That will crawl, escape.

I have to make this thing Like a safe,

Or you'll come in And find it wrapped around

His monitor of his computer Or something.

The day that redneck says yes Without putting up a fight

Is gonna be the same day That octopuses fly.

Don't come out and bug me Every five minutes about it.

Now that we're back in town,

We got to get the general And redneck up to speed

On the la jolla group's Skateboard tank.

Brett: they brand A lot of different companies,

And one of the companies That they're branding

Is called o'neill, And it's a surfing company.

They made The first wet suit.

I bet you they didn't make Extra extra extra extra large

Back in the day There, buddy.

You're one to talk, Slim jim.

[ laughs ]

They want to incorporate

Some of the surfing items Into the aquarium.

A surfboard, okay?

And they also Want to incorporate

Their new line Of board shorts.

What are you gonna do, Put the shorts on a mannequin?

We could use The mannequins.

I mean, we can't use A whole mannequin.

There's a company -- Las vegas mannequins. They're here in town.

Do they have shor whatever?Ns They have all sizes.

You should see The shapes and sizes

Of some Of these mannequins.

They have half mannequins. They have different things.

Hey, your dad knows a lot About these mannequins.

Whwith that?Eal Listen to me.

What he does on his own time, That's on him.

All I know -- he likes to hang Around with a lot of dummies.

Brett: this tank will be An 8-foot-long,

4-foot-high, 800-gallon rectangle,

But with a j-shaped radius On the front

So that the transition from Ramp to acrylic is seamless.

The life-support system will Be housed under the steel stand,

And then in the tank we'll place A custom coral insert,

A few surf-themed props, And, if possible,

Some life-sized mannequins To display board shorts.

But the real test is engineering A tank that can stand up to

The wear and tear Of people skating on it.

What?

With them skateboarding On the front of this, Isn't it gonna scratch?

We'll figure it out. Let's see how much Force is going on it.

You know, It's gonna scratch.

I don't know. We'll see.

Since everyone is doubtful about Skating on the 1 1/4" acrylic,

We're gonna test it out.

Got it? I got it.

And we even have a professional Skater on his way,

But until he gets here,

We're gonna run a few tests On our own.

You better get the front wheel Up -- the front wheel up.

This is the hardest I've pushed Since my last kidney stone.

Hey, maybe we should just Leave it to the professional.

That's definitely A good idea.

Do your thing. Destroy it. Get on it.

Do some jumps on it, Some tricks.

Wayde: we're testing the acrylic For the skateboard tank,

And right now, It's not looking so good.

We got a problem.

The more you scratch the tank,

The more you have to Buff and polish it.

You're making it Thinner and weaker.

What are we gonna do? You got any ideas?

I mean, this Is a standard piece of acrylic.

If I take the piece, Throw it in the oven,

Pull it out fast, And it cools real quick,

It'll make The material harder.

They also make softer wheels For ramps, guys.

These are just Harder wheels for street

Because the roads are usually Really rough and stuff.

So we're using soft material With the hard wheels.

If we get the soft wheels And we use the hard material...

You're the man!

...Then it most likely Won't scratch.

I knew I brought you out here For something.

Now that it looks like We have a new game plan,

I want to see brett Bust out some of his old moves,

'cause I'm pretty sure He doesn't have any.

So, we're gonna get another Piece of acrylic in the oven

So we can test it again.

But right now, we're going out

To meet chef michael At serendipity 3.

It's a restaurant At caesars palace,

Right on the strip.

Brett: Serendipity 3 is known for Their extravagant dessert menu,

And they're looking for an Aquarium just as over the top.

So, why do you want A gumball machine aquarium?

We used to actually have A gumball machine.

Oh, really? Yeah.

You know, serendipity, We're all about sweets,

And a gumball machine fish tank Is just a really cool thing

For people to take a look at And, you know, play with.

So it's very engaging For our guests.

The last machine That we had out here --

It actually melted the gumballs And created a big mess.

We had to haul it out of here. Ruined the machine.

Brett: So, you want this to be

An actual, like, Working gumball machine?

Yeah, definitely. Definitely.

We want to take it To the next level.

We want this thing Out here,

But we don't want to be Boiling fish.

So the tank's going out here? Yeah, that's an issue.

Temperatures can soar past 100 In vegas on any given day,

So we're gonna have to Find a way

To keep the gumballs And the fish cool.

Otherwise, This tank isn't gonna happen.

This is your space, okay? Looking like this whole area.

Now, the gumball machine That you had --

Was it just, like, A regular round, big globe?

Yeah, it's that classic Red gumball machine base.

Well, you got to see it From the strip,

So at least a stand Of 48 tall.

Wayde: so, after Icing my knee all night,

Now it's back to business With this gumball tank.

We're still trying to figure out

The inner workings and The design of the gumball tank.

But we know One thing for sure --

The tank is gonna be A 4-foot-wide sphere.

It doesn't Look like fun.

Redneck, you got A lot of work ahead of you.

The problem with this -- It's a little more tricky.

It's a vacuum form.

We're gonna have to actually Put the sheet in between here,

And it's sucked in To this shape.

And then we're gonnapeel it open? There you go.

Once the mold is finished, We're gonna put it in the oven,

And it's gonna bake At 300 degrees for 11 hours.

Once it cools, we can check To see if it formed correctly.

Look at that, redneck! We nailed it!

Heather: Wayde and brett just left,

So now it's time to get working

On the surprise octopus tank For wayde's birthday.

Is this the tank? Robbie: yes.

It looks great. I am loving it!

You two are gonna finish it -- Polishing it today.

It just puts a really nice Shine and luster to the tank.

Oh, my god! It's just going on its own.

We got a new cardio trend. Synchronized buffing.

Dude, we got problems.

Brett: What's the matter?

Look at the gumballs.

That ain't enough? Not even close.

What?You got to go On a mission.

Where the hell Am I gonna find

2,000 fricking gumballs At 2:00 in the morning?

Wayde: the acrylic For the skateboard tank

Has been shaped And glued together.

So while the guys Polish that up,

We got to wrap our heads Around the gumball tank.

How do we make it a fish tank And a working gumball machine?

You know, I'm just thinking.

What about if we do some kind Of artificial gumballs?

Where do you want to put The real gumballs?

In the base.

Yeah, but the problem Is that the gumballs --

It's gonna be outside.

It's gonna be 105-degree weather.

The gumballs are gonna melt If they're in the base.

Since we have a chiller Cooling the aquarium down,

The water's gonna be Like 75 degrees.

So we want to take advantage Of that water being cool.

So if we put a sleeve or Something inside the aquarium,

We can actually Keep the gumballs cool, too,

By using the water.

How many gumballs do you think Are gonna go into,

You know, the sleeve Or the container?

2,463.

Oh, all right. Okay.

Wayde: I love the way they think I know

How many gumballs Are in this thing.

I just made that number up.

But I do have some other ideas. Here's what I'm thinking.

We'll run a plastic cylinder Through the center of the tank,

Which will house our plumbing And gumballs and hide the pipes.

Then, in the bottom of the base,

We'll house a mechanism That will feed the gumballs

From the cylinder To paying customers,

As well as Our filtration system.

All will be concealed By a red fiberglass shell

To make it look real old-school.

We'll also need a chiller, but This will go outside the base,

Because it needs to breathe.

So, over top of it, We'll add a set of stairs

So kids can walk up And see inside the tank.

Hey. So, you know how It's wayde's birthday next week?

Right.

I want to put In his office,

In, you know, Where he has the window...

Right.I'm gonna put a tank In there.

I love that heather wants to put The tank in wayde's window.

This is gonna block his view And enable me

To sneak out the back door Without him ever seeing me.

So, I know you guys are going To exotic reef imports.

I want you to kind of like Sneak away from wayde

And pick me out, like, the Biggest octopus that they have.

The biggest they're coming Is gonna be like this size.

This looks like The best one.

'cause that means we get to work On the octopus tank some more.

And the other one Is going to clear-coat.

Heather: so, when you have An octopus tank,

You can't Put other fish in there

Or they might become Octopus food.

So this octopus basically Is gonna have a bachelor pad.

All right, clear-coat. Do a scoop of this.

Heather, you got the good job, Because this stuff stinks.

It's gonna look and work Like a real machine.

To cast the stars Of our tanks -- the fish.

Chocolate tang.

What kind of accent Is that?

He's gonna get darker In color, though.

Yeah, 'cause The babies are yellow,

Then they change color.

It's gonna be great color For the tank itself.

We need to do at least maybe

Like 6 to 10 of them, I'm thinking.

The second one we got Is a skateboard-ramp tank,

And the fish for this tank -- They need to be gnarly!

All right, so, we got The orange saddle wrasse Here, from hawaii.

That's perfect.

That will fit in well with The skateboard, surfing theme.

You know we need a shark For this tank, right?

Definitely need a shark. Yeah, we need a shark.

Dude, I want The gray smoothhound.

I think the babies will be Perfect for that tank.

Like, see this guy right here? He's cool.

So, you know, this tank that We're doing -- this company,

They represent A lot of clothing brands,

And one of their brands Is rusty.

I thought it'd be Kind of funny or cool

To put in, like, A rusty angel.

You got any? Yeah.

Building him a surprise Octopus tank for his office.

The movements and appearances Of 15 different ocean species,

Including sea snakes, Lionfish, giant crabs --

All kinds of badass creatures.

These mimics can grow To be about 2 feet long.

Brett: And we're walking this huge tank

Through crowds of people.

Let me tell you something.

Hey, guys, let's Get the chiller hooked up

So when the water gets in the Tank, we can start cooling it.

We're gonna use A fine black glass

And marbles That look like gumballs

In the base of the tank.

At least The pink and the orange ones,

And then You know what we'll do?

We'll put some of the colors On the bottom.

I don't want them In the tank.

Go down on the strip and give Away those gumballs for free.

As I'm looking at this tank For the first time,

I just felt like A little kid again.

Lots of colors. Over-the-top sensations.

Wayde: This tank is over 250 gallons,

Has 50 fish, And stands over 8 feet tall.

That's taller than Shaquille o'neal With a top hat on.

It fits caesars palace. It fits serendipity.

Wayde: you mentioned That you were worried

About the gumballs melting.

Yeah.

We have A one-horsepower chiller,

And it also has A custom u.V. In it.

The chiller is gonna cool the Tank and keep the fish alive,

And it's also gonna Keep the gumballs from melting.

Brett: some of the fish Are actually themed.

That one right there is called A sweet lips grouper.

Okay.Sweet lips, you know? Huh?

Then we have the yellow one, Which is a lemon peel angel.

Those silver fish Are called monos.

They're pretty unique.

They get to go in freshwater And in saltwater.

See the pink anthias? The very same colors As serendipity.

Oh, yeah! Beautiful. Nice. Good choices.

So, yeah, man, We tried to make it

Very active, vibrant, And very colorful.

And the gumball Part of it works?

This tank is 96 inches long, 48 inches tall.

It's 800 gallons.

And don't forget The custom ramp.

We're gonna be building The ramp today.

Ryan hooked us up with tosh. He's a pro skater.

He has the know-how To make this work.

Maybe we can put a little Quarter pipe at the bottom

So we can Get up to the top.

Will you be able To skateboard on it? Oh, yeah.

We'll throw some Lean-to-tails, you know,

Maybe a lean disaster If we get all crazy with it.

While tosh builds the ramp,

We're putting the mannequins And coral inserts into place,

Filling the tank with water, and Getting my boy marcus started

On a giant wave mural Over the tank.

I cannot believe That it broke away

From the bottom Of the tank.

I knew this surfboard Was gonna be a problem.

It's designed to stay Above the water, not below it.

We added extra weight To the coral insert,

But that wasn't enough.

We made it 2 inches thick, so, Technically, it's bulletproof.

It's gonna take a lot of force With skateboarders.

When the tank's on the stand, It's over 8 feet tall,

It's over 800 gallons,

It weighs over 8,000 pounds When filled.

Brett: and we have A gray smoothhound shark,

And that's indigenous To your waters.

You guys might Run into it surfing.

Ryan: I might have caught A glimpse of him

Creeping underneath me Under the waves.

That's a goatfish.

That's one of my favorite fishin the wh What's he doing?

He's got these two barbs That hang down,

And what he does Is he sifts around

Through the sand On the bottom,

He looks for crabs and squid, And that's what they eat.

But he's going to town Everywhere,

Looking for food Right now.
