To follow our dreams...

Like no one's ever seen.

We build aquariums.

We're the number-one
Aquarium builders in the world.

This job was huge.

It took 50 guys to build it
And 2 years to complete.

We got another big project

We got a request from pastor
To do a coral cross.

You want it brand-new, or do
You want it rotted-looking,

Like it's been underwater
For a long time?

Not so brand-new,
But maybe a little life to it.

Brett: to make this cross,
We first build a wooden frame.

We cover it with epoxy
To waterproof the wood

And to give it a weathered look.

Once that's dry,
We can start painting it

Then cover it
In manufactured coral,

Which is modeled
After real coral.

Placing the coral on the cross
To make it look natural

Is a very artistic process.

This needs to get finished
And shipped out

In order for us
To get it there on time.

[ knock on door ]

So, I just got off the phone
With eric palacios.

He wants to get
A shark tank.

So, because he's
An aggressive lawyer,

He wants to show his clients

We've been dealing with this

Trying to figure out
What he wants,

And he's been teetering
Back and forth.

I'm glad he finally
Made a decision.

So, I need you guys to come
Down there and check it all out.

As a wedding gift.

He's a big fish buff.

So, basically, you two are gonna
Be all over the board again?

So, we're on our way over
To eric's new law firm,

And the place
Is still under construction.

But before they open the doors
For business,

They want us to install
A killer tank.

This is
The reception area,

And this is going to be
The receptionist desk,

Where we want the aquarium
To be right here.

Everybody's got a rectangular
Aquarium against a wall.

I have never seen a receptionist
Desk that's an aquarium.

A tank for a front desk?
That's pretty cool.

We haven't done
Anything like that before.

That's gonna be, like,

When they walk in, like,
Instantaneously gonna hit them.

You know, people are
In an attorney's office,

They're stressed out.

The fish tank is gonna
Just let them relax.

I completely understand.

To have some sharks.

Lawyers are compared to sharks

Maybe there's a negative
Connotation to that.

I always saw it
As something positive.

If you're going to somebody

You want guy that's gonna
Fight the hardest for you

And get you the results

I'm gonna have
Two receptionists.

They'll be
Behind the aquarium,

Hopefully about 8 inches
Or a foot lower

Than the height of the top
Of the aquarium.

We can lift this up
And see

Where we think
It'll look good.

If you hold it
Up to 4 feet,

The aquarium itself
We'll probably have to sit it

On, like,
A 12-inch base.

And this whole piece
Is gonna be grounded?

Look who'swe can do that.
Getting fancy.

The trick to this is not only to
Make it a functional aquarium,

But also to make it a functional
Desk for their office.

Brett: so, wayde and I
Are here in dallas

To install the custom
Coral cross that we've built

For the aquarium
In the huge megachurch.

I wish that every ministry could
Afford to, in some way, put --

Even if it's just a fish bowl
In their lobbies,

To represent how fish come
From so many different species,

But they all have to live
In the same water.

All of us come
From so many places,

And we all eventually have to
Live in the same world.

That's what I really wish that
Everyone would get from this.

Seeing this tank in person again

Reminds me why
I love it so much.

Not only is it beautiful,
It's huge.

I'm talking 57,000 gallons,
70 feet long, 10-foot wide,

18 feet tall, and over 600 fish.

The two years it took to
Complete was totally worth it.

This is the worst-case scenario.
I'm so aggravated.

This is a nightmare.

Brett:

But I had a vision, and I think
We need to make it happen.

Brett: so, wayde and I
Are here in dallas

To install the custom
Coral cross that we built

For the aquarium

The cross in the tank,

And we couldn't even get it
All the way down to the bottom.

At this point,
I'm starting to freak out.

I'm in front
Of hundreds of people.

They're expecting this cross
To go to the bottom of the tank.

I can't get it there.
This is a nightmare.

I'm looking at the cross,

And I realize there's
Air trapped inside it.

[ scoffs ]
No wonder it wouldn't go down.

We tipped the cross
To let the air escape,

And it went
Straight to the bottom.

[ rhythmic clapping ]

After two years, the aquarium
At the church is finally done.

Rickie:
I'm extremely ecstatic.

The cross was that missing
Element that symbolizes

That whole unity
Of it all coming together.

It becomes real now,

And that's where
The faith kicks in.

Today, we've done god's work.

We head back to vegas to get
Working on the shark tank.

The first thing we have to do

Is actually make the front panel
Of the tank,

And this is curved.

All the acrylic comes in
In flat sheets,

So we have to make a mold,
Put the acrylic on this mold,

Put it into the oven.

It goes in at 300 degrees
For 12 hours,

And it melts to that radius.

When it comes out,
The surface is all messed up.

Once we sand and polish it,

This acrylic's gonna have
Better quality than glass.

Glass is 76% clear.
Acrylic is 97% clear.

But there's a few things
We still need to talk about.

What are you guys
Doing?

Brainstorming.

Hey, first of all,
You can't brainstorm

When the brains
Are right here.

You need brains
To be right there.

Here's what we got so far.

The reception desk is gonna be
A 400-gallon shark tank

That'll have to be strong enough

To support a 450-pound slab
Of granite.

When you're putting that much
Weight on top of an aquarium,

It could be a challenge.

Since the granite's
Over 450 pounds,

We beefed up the steel frame

By adding some extra supports
Underneath it.

So, the interior theming,
Right?

We're gonna do the gavel.

We're gonna do
Those scales of justice.

We're gonna have a coral insert
Up against the back wall.

And we're gonna add a bunch
Of different sharks in there.

I think it looks good.
I like that idea.
I like that.

I think we need
Something extra.

What I'm thinking is, you know
How he's got those columns

That are like 15-inches
On each side?

I think we're gonna
Make bubblers.

Bubblers?
Yeah, like pillars
With bubbles in them.

I don't know.

It's gonna represent

There's a couple of pillars
Right next to it.

And I just think that area
Looks too plain,

And it's not gonna really
Set this thing off.

Recycling pumps at the bottom

That'll create bubbles

And blue l.E.D. Lights
On the top for color.

These tanks won't have
Any fish in them,

Which means no extra maintenance

And no extra cost
To the customer.

Hell, I love the idea so much,
We're gonna eat the cost.

And in the long run,

I think it's gonna bring us
Some future business.

I had a vision,

What we're proposing.

We'll use four real kegs.

Three kegs we will create a base

That will hold the plumbing
And pony keg.

The fourth will sit on top
And hold the actual aquarium.

In the center will be a custom
Sports-theme coral insert

To add color.

And, finally, to make this
A fully functional keg,

We'll run the tap
Through the base

And out the bottom of the tank.

Overall, this is a touchdown
For the man cave.

The crew was working hard
On the legal inserts

For the shark-tank desk.

Once the mold is set
On the scales of justice,

We use a sander to give it
The distressed look.

Then we paint it
With an acrylic base paint.

The same process is used
For the law book,

And it's moving along
Pretty smoothly,

But I can't say the same
For the keg tank.

You have a radius this way,
And you have a radius this way.

That's called
A compound bow.

It's very, very hard to get a
Big piece out of a compound bow,

So we have to do multiple pieces
To get this shape.

So we had to make a mold
That's right behind you.

The tricky part with that is,
Is lining these seams up.

It's very hard to do.

Wayde: we use a solvent to bond
The pieces of acrylic together.

It forms a waterproof seal.

Brett: come on. Bring over
The real man-cave tank.

Oh, boy.
Here we go again.

Is really cool.

This tank is 3 feet tall,
2 1/2 feet wide,

It's approximately 89 gallons,

And when it's all said and done,
It's about 720 pounds.

Before we put our gravel
In the tank,

We like to rinse it with a hose
To remove the dust,

The particles, and any other
Debris that's on it

Until the water runs clear.

You don't want to use
Any other cleaner,

'cause leftover residue
Will harm the fish.

Wayde: while brett's outside
Cleaning the gravel,

Redneck and I are gonna be
Installing the tap.

First, we drill the hole
In the steel base,

Then we'll run the line
Up through the base

That'll eventually get
Tied into the pony keg.

We'll fit the tap in the hole
And secure it with lug nuts.

I got the pony keg.

Get that sucker

Fits like a glove.

I'll get this tap on.

All we have to do now
Is get these fish in.

We decided to get
All male cichlids from africa.

Cichlids are one of the largest
Vertebrate families

And new species
Are found annually

In fresh bodies of water
All around the world.

That's it.They're all finding
Their homes.

Wayde:
Most pet stores don't carry
Freshwater fish this large.

You have to custom-order them
From the supply house.

That deep 1-inch horn.

And then the horn shark.

So, make sure we have them
In two days for our install.

There's no easy way to put sand
On the bottom of an aquarium.

You just have to take it slow.

Sometimes, it can take four
Hours for the sand to settle,

So we're moving ahead
With the install.

Now we're ready to place
This giant piece of granite.

Since the granite's
Over 450 pounds,

We beefed up
The acrylic walls of the tank

To support the weight
Of the granite.

Watch your fingers.

Get your arm out.
Get your hand out.

We had our granite guys
Cut two access points

On the top of the aquarium.

Since they were so heavy,
The only way to lift them off

Is to use industrial
Suction cups.
