getting you out of here

hey

of course

I'm not going anywhere

I've done my bit I shall do me nicely

thank you I'm afraid that's not the

question why

you can't possibly stay here it's a

neutral country or British soldier

and when we're talking business I reckon

the Army was me six months back p

many times have a sub oh very good

very good

I say I wonder whether go-to is our

second bottle

there's one of them for everyone I'm

asking

every train station within a 20 mile

radius has armed guards morning and

night

and the nearest border to here were the

neutral country is over 400 miles

how long have you been here

a couple of weeks Red's been longer

about a month where you from Beaver rack

yeah spangenberg I got out with another

pilot the easiest pie just walked

through the gate about 10 miles from the

border we ran into a couple of Germans

who obviously hadn't heard of the Geneva

Convention

my buddy was killed on the spot I

survived because oh God that's not as

bad as it looks bullets missed by major

organs

morphine took care of the rest

less

[Music]

that's old man the bulldog

bit of a bastard

pearls hate him treat them like dirt

foreign

I sail Japan

are you all right

more bad news I'm afraid it seems that

Chatfield fell out to it is the son of

some local judge or whatnot

I imagine he'll want to throw the book

at you yeah can't you do something well

a little hand you over to us but uh on

one condition of the British government

inflict appropriate punishment and with

the old previous record I guess you'll

be looking at 10 years at least

always weighs around these things I

can't help thinking you're missing a bit

of a trick here hey what was a strange

Beast Crush yourself makes others I'd

rather think of a major it devious

obnoxious there's a tendency to

criminality

perfect office of material in fact

when you get back to London you will be

contacted by mi9 Lieutenant colon

Fordham Splendid chap he'll fill you in

in my knife

[Music]

you will be immensely helpful to them

sell this up oh I'd rather think who

sets up your cell phone man

you're going home

another bunch

[Music]

dear Lizzy

I'm writing this from another camp now

I escaped from the last one only to end

up here

it's not too bad really

that's not up to much but we muck along

Acorn coffee is not half as bad as it

sounds

the other chaps are fine and we're all

pretty Fit and Well and keeping each

other going

this place is an old castle like

something from Dracula

how are you

we don't get much news tested from the

Germans they say London has been pounded

by the Lord

help me well

I'm sorry I'm not much

for this letter writing business

there were so many things that I want to

say to you

that I should have said

all I know is that I miss you terribly

[Music]

oh yeah

hello Thomas

[Music]

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

foreign

and biscuits where are the bloody

biscuits um

call from a grade sir oh yes yes my gray

good excellent

thank you Mary welcome to mi9 and

congratulations

first home run of the war just the chat

for us bunny they fill you in about us

who would have filled him in you ass

we're supposed to be top bloody secret

well very early stages but this is mi9

we're a division of the Secret Service

is that all then yes bunny I thought you

might like to meet mcgraders he'll be

working together or anyone wrong

and don't forget those bloody parts

unique man

where was I

yes

we're here precisely to help chaps like

you Allied servicemen who escaped from

POW camps good for morale keeps Jerry on

his toes all right how was it slow well

of course

what about that safe house in Marseille

we just set that up recently or was that

a week without food in the piano tuners

linen chest well we can't just plunk you

on an airplane send you after the white

blue yonder I was quite happy what it

was was sadly mcgrade there's a war on

you've still got your part playing it is

that Claire

is that Claire corporate mcgrade yes yes

what

yes sir

good man

oh one more thing from now on you'll be

lieutenant mcgrade I think the first

home run of the war deserves a promotion

don't you

dismiss

sorry

your office is just down here together

with the operations room and Mr Warren's

Workshop

saved it up there

is there anything you need

no thanks

you have anywhere to stay

no don't know anyone it's my first time

here in London I'll fix up a room for

you

we need to get you

I'll leave you to get on with it oh

actually um there is someone I know

uh Lizzy Carter

I said to a friend that look her up

she's in the Erp shouldn't be too

difficult I'll see what I can do

thank you

time

carry on

[Music]

whoa

excuse me sir I'm gonna have to leave me

alone

Corp Lieutenant mcgrid sir

what the bloody hell you're playing at

fell apart but of course you fell apart

that's what it's meant to do

licking comes off boot becomes shoe so

the two leggings together becomes a

waistcoat nice no it doesn't apparently

it's too drafted for flying what do you

want I'm busy better off what

Christ was I smell

pectin natural gelatin added to print a

zinc and you can print the map straight

onto a piece of silk

silk soft light flimsy fills up easily

concealed my daughter is more stupid

than I thought you'd be

could have done with something like this

it was the blind leading the blind out

there

that was a pow

first home run yes I know

why else do you think I'm being so

reasonable

do I see my compasses

sure

what

that's a sewer

yes I know

and that my ball

because you just use the tree come on

found me Jack Jack yeah hello yarn train

is an engineer oh well done he reckons

we can get through to the main siren now

which inevitably is going to take us

somewhere outside the castle

what's your hair yeah

let's take a look

you're good

can you see oh yeah

oh oh oh oh one more thing come on

every 50 yards or so the sewers are

connected to manhole covers or main

drains

now assuming we take the right turning

after the latrines

should end up out there

where do we come out

thank you

unfortunately this is the only exit we

can see

the trouble is doesn't troll by an armed

guard 24 hours a day you're not meant to

be able to get out without him shooting

you or raising the alarm first

leaves one option which is turn the

guard what you buy him up well can we

there are three guards that share that

24-hour rotation there the first two

Meyer and pearl they seem pretty

straight but the third Meisner

he's kind of weak Shifty I got a feeling

about him he's scruffy his hands shake

his nails are bitten down

this is not a happy puppy I guess he's

your man but hey

it's only a guess

play

I think you polite

I think you lost your ring I think your

wife is very mad at you

next you lose your ear

she'll chew it off right

how much to get the ring back

sorry

Jack Rose the answer is no

I haven't had the question yet you've

heard I'm an artist and you want me to

draw a loving tender portrait of your

sweetheart for which you are prepared to

pay me 10 wood binds and give me

unfettered access to your Acorn coffee

rations go away

possibly on the other hand that could

have just been going to tell you that a

special amnesty has been declared for

all people called Sawyer and that there

was a car outside waiting to take you

home

because you've not missed

nice try

how much would it take your time more

than you can imagine how much this is

getting very boring now

it's not awfully chill

and in fact we think we know where he is

where

yeah let me walk you down

and he's in a high security in prison

yeah Leipzig and the Germans claim it's

escape proof if that's the case then it

looks like he's in it for the long haul

but is he safe no it's fine as We Know

well it's Heroes until you keep saying

we know this and we know that either

he's all right or he isn't

well it's you know it's not always that

appreciate that of course

it was very kind of you to come thank

you so much

celebrating I really don't feel like

I saw some things

ordinary people in their own homes their

lives smashed to smithereens

sorry don't we be hearing this oh don't

let the bastards get you down

[Music]

[Applause]

foreign

good

Christ the place is heaving with the

bastards

well I know this all looks a bit

unconventional but that's what it's

meant to be

we all know there are no shortage of

ideas about escaping it's the problem is

concealment

that's where these Jabs come in

gentlemen

hi cricket bat

pull the end knife comes out

put it back in

handle comes away inside there's a fight

no there isn't oh God yes it should be a

file of course I used it I blame the

assistant toothpaste

remove the cap

squeeze it normal toothpaste after the

robot turns Gray

same color as the German uniforms

yes

can of beans

just open it up

stretch of bears

both ends inside piece of silk thin

flimsy perfect for concealment a pattern

on the silk very pretty no not just a

nice handkerchief actually a detailed

root through Bavaria to the Swiss border

this man's a genius you are a prick

steady on an old man

major Point not quite the other end

she's there

beans just like it says on the tent

do you have the Walnut

the most basic and most necessary Aid

that is for escaping a woman not a will

not

a compass

that is good

yes there and finally but not least

from the bells of the British museum

itself

a ground plan of colditz bloody Castle

I mean look at this stuff it's brilliant

just half of this gets Drew will appear

W swarming across the whole blood of

Europe

Bravo good show

[Applause]

really

operations room can do the shake-up the

match you should pay them a visit

shoelace what have you got

bloody sore fingers that is bloody soft

that's right

you know you want to have the stupidest

people think for

please excuse me sir

foreign

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

no I thought you weren't

you were thinking what an empty-headed

little prick it was you would just find

too polite to see so I like you

just turn my duty

I didn't think you had proved of all

this

I'm taking your advice you should be

pleased

I am believe me

[Music]

I am I heard from Jack last week

oh

a letter arrived but most of it was

blacked out by the sensor maybe he's all

right

seems so

he's putting on a brave face but

that's Jack

you don't seem too pleased

no I'm pleased

it's just um

difficult

yes

I feel like I'm

living a lifetime every day at the

moment and

playing around inside my head

sometimes I can't even

never mind

sometimes you can't even remember what

it looks like

She's Not Unusual

it was grieving is what happens

there's nothing to be ashamed about

but I feel so guilty there's nothing to

feel guilty about this is War

we've gotta live

and if I'm not actually dead

I might as well be

do you want a smack

you paid for that oh no oh yes what

you're gonna dance with me

I might have to think about

that you're gonna dance with me if I

have to drag you up over that Bloody

seat and carry you to the floor

[Music]

laughs

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

I like my past

[Music]

it's coming in again

sounds so gentle from a distance

we should get to the shelter

oh it's pure beautiful

you say that people are dying over there

people have to die in a revolution do

you want them to win or something no one

nice to win

people

Ordinary People I wish nothing when all

this started no one means something

right on the edge Lizzy we should get to

the shelter no stay here

are you all right

[Music]

Japan

[Music]

feel it Lizzy right in the middle of it

come on Lizzy come on

feel your heart

fast life Lizzy that's life pending away

inside your bus and the girl

everything's getting blown away the

truth the shake

it's all over finished

there's just us now

we can do what we want we can be what we

want

we can have what we want

no

[Music]

no [ __ ]

listening

[Music]

office that such a prison actually

exists if he does contact his regiment

impressed when she finds out the man

moment not meant to know you

why not me no it's it's wonderful

I love war don't say that Nick it's just

hurt and unhappiness are we unhappy

no

not in this minute

in this minute I am very happy

you know you wouldn't have looked at me

without this war we wouldn't be here no

yeah but others have gone

yeah I know but we're still here

it's like a jungle you fight you survive

You remake yourself there's a billiona

use as my decoy

see mcgrade off picking up gongs you

miss all the news another home run from

cold it's bloody good day all round

really your officer right

foreign

good to see you Sawyer

you bugger

I think what bug the chaps the most but

we never actually got to see when the

bloody disguised Masterpiece of course

particularly the mustache

I was very sorry to hear about Jack Rose

Jack in a shot trying to escape

you didn't know

you sure

well I've seen nothing official I mean

that's the wisdom here

that is a blur

I wonder was Tom Willis with him

come on sorry I must know something

all right yes I'm sorry have you got a

moment yet

of course excuse me

Rose short escaping apparently oh of

course colditzma Benning was rather

close to him wants to know if we have

any more details

nothing as far as I know

I believe you know his girl Lizzy yeah

I thought perhaps you might have heard

something and all sorts of things filter

back through relatives just leave her

out of this

of course

she's just been through hell of a lot

Jack's lost her hard and when she went

to Pieces completely

I've just been trying to keep it away

from this sort of thing

all right I understand

probably best left then

dear Jack

if you are alive and well and reading

this letter

then I fear some terrible Injustice has

taken place

for more than a year everyone here in

London has believed that you were killed

trying to escape from colditz

recently things have started to surface

which prompted me to make a few

inquiries of my own

according to your regiment you're a

goner

but then I ended up at the Swiss

consulate where the records of prisoners

of War kept

where they told me they had no knowledge

of your death whatsoever

it could all have been some caracal

error of course but then I started to

wonder exactly who might benefit from

your presumed death

which brings me to the most difficult

part of this letter

Jackie it smells nice if I were a

betting man

it's not erratic

Ally

written to me in months

[Music]

come on

Here Comes zombie Jack

late Christmas in class

I have to get out what have you got

going on now look here Jack you can't

come barging around here ordering me

around

read that

I read it I think I should read it

[Music]

I'm sorry

what have you got in the works

I'm afraid that things have moved on a

bit around here during your beard and

sandals phase

another request we'll have to go before

the toasting committee what all plans

must be approved and scheduled in order

I haven't got time for that crap Willis

this is my life we're talking about here

you just await your turn I can't you

will

wait your turn like everybody else

Lieutenant Rose

Willis

[Music]

[Applause]

Mary my little girl

started the last four as a Bugle Boy and

worked his way up

do you still follow me fathers I'm lucky

in that respect

accountant or traveling salesman

contends that the mild mother to be top

garden blindfolded

Jack Rose talk

no you taught me great you tell me don't

try and be clever with me your weak

gobstrate

all right I'll tell you

I think you fell in love with this girl

I don't know how or where but I think

she was faithful to him I think perhaps

you became desperate I don't know

I think you may have panicked and I

think you faked his death so you could

have her you sink well some uncertainly

did

wouldn't you say

what are you gonna do

nothing

there's nothing to do with me anymore

once Rose gets back it's between you and

him I've done my bit hey Jimmy

what'd you mean you've done your bit

you taught it

but

wouldn't he who else

who else have you told no one

between you and him

it's too late in the grade

what did you think man

did you just hope he'd never come back

or what did you think he'd come back see

you with his girl and say fair enough

Chun fake my death not quite Cricket but

all fair in Love and War fancier paint

he was obsessed with that girl he made

me do a drawing of her from memory he

knew every single inch of her face off

he knew the weight of her hair freckles

the shape of her lips shot like a

practical smell of the way he described

so yeah

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

it's me come my friend
