- As we begin to look at
who we are as a people,

and as we look at the
contributions of African people

to the world, Professor John
Henrik Clarke often told us

that the missing pages of world
history is African history.

And once you understand
the role that Africa

has played in the shaping
of our intellectual world.

In terms of the things that
we have achieved as a people

you will begin to understand
why there is a war on history.

And when you're dealing
with a war on history,

you're doing more than that.

What you have to do is
understand and look at the work

of Dr. Cheikh Anta Diop, the
brilliant Senegalese scholar,

who wrote a book, "The African
Origins Myth or Reality,

Civilization or Barbarism,
the Cultural Unity

of Black Africa".

And as he developed
his understanding,

he said that, for a people
to oppress another people,

this has nothing to do
with African culture

or European culture,
this is people to people.

If you want to oppress a people,

there are three things
that you take from them.

You take their history,
you take their language,

and you take their
psychological factor.

Their psychological factor
are what we call VIPs.

Dr. Leonard Jeffries
calls them the values,

the interests and the
principles of a people.

Take those from them.

Take their history, take their
language, take their values,

interests and principles and
then superimpose your history,

your language, your values,
interests and principles

on them and no matter what
conclusion they come to

in the challenge they
face, they will always act

in the interest of the oppressor
that took their history,

language and their values,
interests and principles.

So when we wonder why the
choices we make never serve

our best interest, you
gotta change the paradigm.

You have to study your history.

You have to study your
language, your values,

interests and
principles. (echoing)

- Without question there's
a war on Black history

but I believe that
war on Black history

is a symptom of a much
larger war and that is a war

against the opportunity
for African people

to resurrect themselves.

Knowledge itself
is not the goal.

Knowledge itself is the means.

The goal is to
become an independent
self-sufficient people.

- The war's against African
people and so the attack

on African history is
part of the larger attack

on African peoples.

And it's about
rulership of the world.

It's about rulership
of the planet.

It's about access to the raw
material and the resources

in the continent of Africa
and in the parts of the world

where African people live
in Central/South America

and the Pacific islands.

- History is exactly what
the world implies, his-story.

There are many stories out here

and if a person is going
to be truly knowledgeable

this is advantageous
for them to know as many

different versions of the
same stories out here.

So that they then
through the process

of deductive reasoning
could begin to compare

the stories, analyze
consistencies in those stories,

began to see the flaws
in certain stories

so they then can discern
the truth from a lie.

- Most of the textbooks
that are used in classrooms

around the country
are written by people

who don't look like us.

So, we cannot expect
for our former enslavers

to give us the knowledge
that's gonna help us

to get to the point where
we can be successful.

Because at the end of the day
that means more competition.

And so often times our
history begins with slavery

because that is a
portion of Black history,

of African history
that's most popular

and most individuals
are not familiar

with history before that.

So if we don't know about
what happened before slavery

then it's almost impossible
to produce materials

or conduct lesson plans
that educate our youth

about that information.

- [Tony] Black history has
been repressed in this country.

That's why Dr. Carter
Woodson in 1926 established

Negro History Week in
order to teach information

that was not being
taught in this country.

That's why Dr. Carter
Woodson in 1933 wrote,

"The Miseducation of the
Negro" in which we showed

that there was an
intentional effort

on the part of this
government to miseducate

people of African ancestry
so that we would never know

who we were and as a
consequence of being miseducated

we would never be able to
access the power that lies

in the truth of
knowing who you are.

- If African History was
represented in a book

of a thousand pages,
slavery would begin on 999.

So it's just a small
percentage of the entirety

of what our ancestors
have contributed

to world history.

- You have Black people who
again, are trying to distance

themselves of anything
that has to do with Africa

because again, they've
bought into this whole notion

that somehow they're not worthy,
the culture's not worthy.

But it is not
understanding your history

that leads to the trauma
that we see, that's happening

which results in, I just
need to escape from this.

Because you're afraid of
what you don't understand

but you see when you understand
it, you can navigate.

- Europeans have
discovered other people,

conquered other people,
enslaved other people

and then rewritten their
history so that they could

control them from
the inside out.

- Once slavery was over
Europeans then decided

to go to the continent,
divide up the continent

and various European groups
would have control over

different areas.

So it's really understanding
the wealth of resources

and knowledge and other
things that come out of Africa

and they want that wealth.

Ultimately at the end of
the day it boiled down

to money and power.

- And so this war's
being waged by one ninth

of the world population
who we call the Europeans.

And in order for them
to rule the world

and be able to steal the
resources of the world

to use for their development,
they must keep the African

population off
balance, out of sync

and the best way to do
this is to deny access

to intergenerational
transmission of wisdom

from the African ancestors,
which we call history.

And if somebody keeps that
information away from you

how can you then
plan you next step

when you don't know
what your last step was.

History tells you what
your last step was

and it gives you the tools
to plan your next step.

- And so the war
on African history

is a war against the
African psyche to keep you

from recognizing
your true potential

because they know what
your true potential is.

And so it's a strategy
to keep you from knowing

who you actually are so you
never manifest the greatest

and the divinity within.

And so white folks have
always been very very keenly

aware of the intellectual
genius of Black folks.

Although there are
stereotypes that will suggest

the only types of intelligence
we have is athletic,

artist and cultural.

That's only because those
are the only avenues

that are open to
African-Americans.

So, it's recognize that
war against African history

is a war against African
people recognizing

what their true potential
is in this world.

- History is especially
important in race matters.

And throughout the history
most of the documents

were written by
whites especially

during the years of slavery.

And in after slavery
rhetorical writings

or daily newspaper or journals
were written by whites.

Black writers didn't
penetrate the mass media

for written literature until
about late 30s and 1940s

before Blacks would have any
acts, even get books out,

publish books and so
whatever shaped the attitudes

and the culture from
a racial standpoint

was shaped by whites.

And they shaped everything
to their advantage.

And so consequently in
any of their writings

and any of their
history reportings,

they gonna report to the
advantage of white folk

to maintain those
privileges of all cost.

- When artists sample music
they sample from the best.

And so we can almost look at
some of the things that have

been designed that reflect
Egyptian architecture.

That's architectural samplings.

So you always take from
the best of the best

and that's definitely
what Europeans did

and so they had to study us in
order to get this information

they had to study our
history and information

and I think it's
important to understand

that when you acknowledge
where you came from

or where it came from, it
just opens up so many doors

of things that they're going
to take responsibility for.

- I think the attack on
ethnic studies broadly,

not just AFAM but also
La Raza Studies in Tucson

and other forms
of ethnic studies,

it really comes from an
impulse that white folks

in an era of shrinking
whiteness, right.

In an era where the numbers
are starting to turn

making the United States
more Black and Brown

that there is sense that
a lot of white folks have.

And I'm not sure it's
always conscious,

it could be subconscious
but the effect is the same

either way.

It's the sense that they're
losing control of their culture

and their narrative right.

So there's the one hand
that white folks are saying

we want to seal the borders
off and we want to control

the growth of
populations of color.

But if we can't do that,
if we can't control

who's here, we can at least
control the story that we tell.

And the story that we
tell about our country

is one that doesn't have a
place for Afro-American studies

or for La Raza studies or
Asian American studies,

any kind of Black studies
or diaspora studies at all.

For Black folks it's just
not part of that narrative.

So if white folks want to
try to maintain control

of the dominant, of their
dominance in the culture,

the best way to do that is
to control the storytelling.

There's that old saying
that poets and storytellers

really have more power
than bankers in some cases

because if you can control
the story that the country

tells about itself you
influence the policies

and you influence the laws.

And so I think that's
what that's about.

It's saying, how dare you
try to correct our version.

- [Interviewer] Jerry,
how do you personally feel

about having Negro classmates?

- Well, I didn't
ask for integration

and I wasn't enthusiastic
about getting it

but the Supreme Court said
that our high school should

be integrated and so I thought
that I should do all I could

to bring this court
order about peacefully.

I think our football
coach put it very well,

he said, "All through your
life you're going to come up

"against things that
you don't like."

But he says you're going to
have to accept them anyway

and just make the best
out of them that you can.

- One of the most important
documents that tells

the story of the coming
into being of the cosmos

within our universe comes to
us through the Shabaka Stone.

Shabaka was a Nesut
Bity or a pharaoh

of the 25th dynasty.

When they came to an area
that we today call Memphis,

they came upon a
document and it was,

it is come down to us as
the Memphite Theology.

Shabaka records on the
Shabaka Tablet itself

that it was worm-eaten.

But it was the work
of the ancestors

and because it was the
work of the ancestors

and because it was
scientifically sound,

Shabaka ordered his scientists
and all of the peoples

of note to rewrite this
document for all time and space.

A people who wished to come
into their understanding

of who they are will
write a creation story

and the whole story tells
the cosmic beginnings

and how all came into being.

The story of the original
trinity, the Nun, Ptah and Atum.

One entity that
came in three parts.

The Nun which was the water
or matter of the universe,

the Ptah, which was the
energy or the conversion

of energy that brought
things into being

and the Atum.

The Atum that called
all things into being.

They talked about the Nun
being matter, the Nunet

being space, the Huh being
infinity and the Huhet

is infinity.

The

The Amen is the hidden and
the Amenet is the revealed.

Everything that is written,
carved on the Shabaka Stone

is what we teach in our
science classes today.

When you look at Dr. Sagan's
what he calls the cosmic

calendar broken up into
12 months, every month

represents 1 billion years.

In the early months
come the superclusters.

As we go through the months,

superclusters give
birth to clusters.

As you go on clusters
give birth to galaxies,

galaxies give birth to stars.

Somewhere in this mix
our star was born.

The star that we live
by and on September 15th

of that cosmic year, 8.5 billion
years after the so-called

Big Bang or the coming
into being of the universe

according to the Shabaka
stone, our earth is born.

It is not going to be until
December 30th, that the human

family is going to emerge
out of the darkness.(echoing)

So you can see as African
people, we have to start

in the cosmic reality and
from this cosmic reality,

homosapien sapien is going
to develop a way of thinking.

They are going to develop a way
of providing for themselves.

They are going to
create technology.

All the math, all the
science, all the languages,

at the end of that cosmic
year and it is they,

at this time will begin
and create what we call

the Nile Valley
Civilization. (echoing)

- To Egypt we owe
the dawn of conscious

and the earliest visions of
character as a social thought.

Great religions of
the Western world

and also the beginnings
of science, astronomy

and medicine, art and
architecture, literature

and music.

- Professor Leonard Jeffries
always said that whoever

controls Kemet the history
of Kemet stands at the head

of human family.

Its in Egypt where we can
find the greatest evidence

of culture, civilization,
architecture, science,

literature, philosophy
and religion.

So if that was the exclusive
purview of Black people

In Africa, thousands of
years before civilization

existed anywhere else,
it flies in the face

of the contemporary
misinterpretations
of African people,

who they were and what they did.

So in that context in order
for people who now control

the world to maintain
control of the world,

they have to suppress
other interpretations

of world history.

- The Nile Valley is
so important because
it's from the area

we find the oldest documented
civilization in the world

from the Nile Valley we know
that people of Ancient Kemet

were African, had dark
skin and we do know

that from the Nile Valley our
ancestors created the first

alphabet called Medu Neter,

which the Greeks
renamed hieroglyphics.

We also know that our ancestors
created the first paper

which came from
the papyrus plant,

the first clock, which
was the water clock.

The Greek name for
that is clepsydra.

But a lot of the things that
have laid the foundation

for us today that have
allowed us to be able to write

down our history and to
be able to pass that on.

We've only been able to do that
with many of the inventions

that our ancestors created.

- Whether you're
dealing with engineering

or technology, when you talk
about writing and reading.

When you're talking about
the refinement of speech,

when you talk about
grammar or the dialectic

or if you're talking about
concepts of astronomy or music.

- The people from the Nile
Valley were the very first

people to develop
a concept of time.

Time as a concept that sprang

from the minds of
African people.

They were the first people to
divide the day into 24 hours.

They were the first people
to develop the calendar

365 1/4 days.

They were the first people
to build with stone.

They were the first
people to develop systems

of education, the
first universities.

The first, they
invented writing.

They invented paper.

They developed libraries, they
were the first physicians,

the first psychologists,
the first dentists,

the first brain surgeons.

They were the first
governors, the first rulers.

The first men and women
to orient structures

to celestial bodies in order
to harness the spiritual

energy that is generated
within a structure

that is properly aligned
to the celestial spheres.

So in other words,
they were human beings

who knew how to manifest
the power of God on earth.

- I think the most
important contribution

that was made was the creation
of a system that transfers

and transmits information
from one generation

to the next one.

And when the Per
Ankh, P-E-R-A-N-K-H,

which is the temple of
life was created in Kemet,

it allowed the
transference of information

to come down from one
generation to another.

Which would include the
study of the heavens.

It would include the
study of nature around.

It would include understanding
geology, understanding

geography and everything
that every generation learned

they would hand it down
to the next generation

in order to improve
the conditions

of the human family.

- I was substituting for a
teacher who wasn't at school

and after the students
had done the work

that was provided for
them, we ended up having

a conversation about Africa,
African history and culture.

And I shared with one of the
students that African people

were the first humans on earth.

We created writing, we
created science, we created

the alphabet, paper
things like that.

And the student just
started dancing in his seat

and got so excited.

- The Grand Gallery of
Khufu's Pyramid in Giza

literally is on the
30th parallel north,

30th parallel east.

In the ancient world that
pyramid was the center

of the earth.

So if you could imagine
Khufu's Pyramid being

in the center of the
earth, along with every one

of the pyramids, Khufu,
Khafre, Menkaure.

Every one of their
entrances to the temple

was on the north
side of the temple

and every one of them
pointed to the north star.

- When I like to refer to it
as Kush as opposed to Nubia

because this land
existed before Nubia.

Nubia comes late in the
history of Nile Valley culture.

And Kush takes
precedent over Nubia,

so I would like to refer
to this as civilization,

Nile Valley civilization
that was Kushitic

in its essence that
preceded Kemet.

That had all the fundamental
elements that later would

become an integral part of
Kemetic culture and civilization

for 3000 years.

- As you continue to travel
north along the Hapi [River],

as you begin to go down north
you then move into the country

that we today call Sudan.

Sudan in the ancient world
was known as the land of gold

or called Nubia.

Then you move up again into
the southern part of Egypt

or Kemet, what is called
Upper Kemet or Upper Egypt.

You have a civilization
that for thousands

and thousands of years
are going to flourish.

And they are going to
build their civilizations

and they are going to
create their languages

and their scripts and
they are going to continue

until they move up into an area
that we today call Memphis.

Which is in the central
north region of Egypt today,

right south of the delta.

And this is going to be
formed by a Nesut Bity,

they're called pharaohs.

But the African
word is Nesut Bity.

And this Nesut Bity Menes,
also known as Narmer

is going to settle in an
area that we know as Memphis.

He's going to divert the
waters and he's going

to create the kingdom that
he is going to call Hikuptah.

And Hiku is, in a sense
it means of the spirit

or the essence and
Ptah represents a hill

from the early
writings in astronomy.

So Hikuptah because
he dumped up land,

he's now going to call
this area Hikuptah,

which means the essence
or spirit of the hill,

which is going to become
the theocratic capital

of the Kemetic Empire
and he is going to start

the first dynasty.

From here you're going
to have the dynastic rule

of Kemet that is
going to be developed

from the very first
dynasty of Menes

and is going to move through

what we call the
Classical Kingdom

where you are going
to have the structures

that we today call the pyramids.

What is important to understand
about his work Hikuputah

is an understand where
the word Egypt comes from

because the Greeks in
coming down and embracing

African culture they are
going to begin a language

that is going to be based
on the African language.

They are going to take
a script that is based

on Medu Neter or what
we call hieroglyphs.

And they're going
to call Hikuptah.

They're gonna call it Aiguptos.

So even when you're dealing
with the word Egypt,

you're still dealing with the
origins of an African word,

which is Hikuptah
that became Aiguptos.

Aiguptos is going
to become Egypt.

- We can go back to scholars
such as Cheikh Anta Diop

who scientifically did the
research and experimentation

to prove that the people
of Egypt were African.

And we have scholars such
as Asa G. Hilliard III,

Dr. John Henrik Clarke,
John G. Jackson.

- They said that the Earth
was flat like a pancake

out in the vastness of space
with the sun and the moon

and all the stars
going around it.

The ancient Egyptians in the
pyramid age 6000 years ago

knew that the world was round.

They knew that it
went around the sun

in 365 and one-fourth days
and their astronomers measured

the Earth and they knew
what the polar diameter was.

They knew what the
equatorial diameter was,

the measured the
circumference of the Earth

and they calculated
it so accurately

until modern astronomers said
that error was only one yard.

- who've actually
traveled to Africa

and have actually done the
research to find evidence

that the original people of
Kemet were indeed African

but unfortunately
what the media does

and what society does is
focus on the time period

in Egypt, which the
foreigners came in,

which were the
Greek and the Roman.

So if you focus on that it
will give the impression

that the people of Egypt
or Kemet were not African

but were Caucasian.

So it depends of whose point
of view you're looking at.

- "White folks" had viewed
African civilization

or the way the Greeks
not really a white people

but a Mediterranean people
that white folks think

were white in the modern era.

The Greeks were very clear,
Herodotus was very clear

about African civilizations
being actually more civilized

than European nations.

Said all kinds of things, very
laudatory about the Egyptians

for instance and about Nubians
and others in Ethiopia.

As opposed to Europeans who
he thought were slothful

and lazy and had been rendered
stupid by the cold weather.

This is the "Father of History"
at least in the European,

Euro-centric imagination
said those things.

So he didn't view skin color
and the Greeks did not view

skin color as really an issue.

It's only at that point that
we begin to divide the world

based on skin color that it
becomes a necessary fiction

in order to justify what
was already happening

on the ground.

- Images that we do see
reflecting Egyptians
as being white,

we have to understand
that the people

who are writing history
don't look like us.

And when you write
history you can write it

however you want.

The winners of history will
write it as they see fit

and will write all those
others out of history

even if they did contribute.

And I think it's important
for us to understand

that if Europeans do
acknowledge that the people

of Kemet were African then
there's so many things

that have to fall under that.

The acknowledging that the
people that they enslaved

are the descendants of
this great and mighty

people who created the
first civilization on Earth.

- This is the origins of Kemet,

You cannot understand Kemet
if you do not understand Kush.

You cannot understand Kush,
if you don't understand

the origin of life in
Africa and there is but

one race on the planet,
that is the human race

and all of us are
Africans. (echoing)

- How do you prove
that Africa is African?

No one asked the question
how do we prove Europe

is European so that question
in and of itself speaks

to problems that exist
within this society.

So we look at the people

who lived during
that period of time.

We look at what they
wrote about themselves,

what they wrote about
their ancestors.

And what we know beyond
a shadow of a doubt

by looking at the
research at Nabta Playa,

which is the site of the
oldest astro archaeological

calendar in existence.

It is a calendar that
dates to specific,

a specific understanding
of the cosmos

and it effect on the people
who lived in that region

of the world.

That calendar has been dated
back to at least 7000 B.C.

3000 years older
than Stonehenge.

And Ta-Seti where Europeans
who were digging in upper Kemet

in preparation for the
completion of the Aswan Dam.

They knew that entire
region of Egypt was going

to be flooded under 50
ft. of water stretching

back 350 miles.

So they went in and in a last
stitched effort to access

material before it
would be lost forever.

There was a team of
archeologists from
the Oriental Museum

in Chicago, affiliated with
the University of Chicago.

They did the excavations and
they sat on that information

for 10 years.

- Decades ago there was
a study by Keith Seele,

going into the northern part
of what we today call Sudan.

He had a student by the
name of Dr. Bruce Williams.

- With Keith Seele, who was
the head of that information

who sat on that information
and then when he died

in an automobile accident,
one of his assistants,

Bruce Williams finally began
to release that information.

And Ta-Seti in New York
Times publication referenced

Ta-Seti as the oldest
city ever discovered

and in Qustul they
found a cemetery, a tomb

in a cemetery in Qustul where
there was this incense burner

- And this tour group,
this study group,

this archeological group
came upon an incense burner

that was fond in L14 area of
the northern part of Nubia

in an area known as Qustul.

- And that incense
burner is now on display

in the Oriental Institute of
the University of Chicago.

On that incense
burner are images.

Images that depict fundamental
elements that would

be an integral part of
the civilization of Kemet.

- It was a very important
area because it predated

the first dynasty by
give or take anywhere

between 15 and 20 generations
prior to the founding

of this first dynasty.

The evidence of the
oncoming of Menes or Narmer,

the development of what would
become the first dynasty.

- Ta-Seti existed at
least 200-300 years before

the unification
of Kemet 3200 BCE.

So what they found on
this incense burner

are images of a king,
a figure who is wearing

the crown that is
associated with Upper Kemet

or the southern part of Kemet.

He is sitting in a boat.

He is holding in a
his hand a flail,

one of the symbols of rulership.

- [Kaba] This incense burner
has the entire royal pantheon.

- And in front of him is
a symbol of a falcon Heru.

These are all symbols that
will become integral to Kemetic

culture and civilization.

So that means that culture
and civilization followed

the flow of the Nile River
and moved south to north.

- It was in fact, the
Nubian civilization

that would bring
forward Medu Neter.

This is why it appears that
Medu Neter appeared in Kemet

overnight, but in fact it
was brought into Kemet.

It may have been improved but
it was not invented by Kemet.

And so this is the evidence
that the entire Pharaonic system

of the first dynasty
was already in place

and strong going into
Kemet that would establish

the first dynasty of Kemet.

And as we continue
to dig in the south,

particularly in Sudan, we
will probably find other

elements similar to the
Qustul incense burner.

There are more pyramids in
Sudan than there are in Egypt.

- In the temples and the
tombs of not just Kemet

but when you go into
what we call today Sudan

and even when you go into Kenya,

you can go to southern Africa
and you can Monomotapan Empire

in what we today call Zimbabwe.

That was an entirely
related area.

Research is also telling us
that we can see relationships

that are existing between
what we call Kemet and Sudan

and southern Africa.

We can see connections
between the spiritual systems

of Nigeria and in
specifically the Yoruba people

of western Nigeria and Kemet.

Many of the neteru and the
people whose were honored

and worshiped in Kemet,
we can see them also

being honored and
worshiped in Nigeria.

So there is a cultural
unity in Africa.

- So those who understand
the migration of culture

and civilization know that
the further south you go,

the further up south you go.

South is up, north is down.

So the further up south you go,

the more evidence you'll find
of an unquestionably African

origins of Nile
Valley civilization.

- The Olmec, the Mayan, the
Inca, the Aztec, Mixtec.

The involvement of Africans
in this part of the world.

Africans were already in
America long before the Olmec

culture came.

But when you're looking
at the Olmec Culture,

the Olmeca Heads, you see
that there was a presence

here in America in the Gulf
of Mexico that is going

to build the pyramids in this
particular Gulf of Mexico

area including Tres Zapotes,
San Lorenzo and other areas.

We have never been exposed
to this information before.

We have never been exposed
to an idea that is evidence

of Rameses III, a pharaoh or
Nesut Bity of the 19th Dynasty.

There's evidence of him
on the Mississippi River.

There's evidence of Egypt
in America that goes back

many millennia.

So you got to got to
lay down a foundation

as to how Africans would
have had the wherewithal

to be able to find themselves
in this part of the world.

And what we find is there
are three ocean currents

that leave the coast of West
Africa and find themselves on

or coming to the
American continent

or the American hemisphere.

From Africa to the
continent and back to Africa

there's one somewhat in
the middle and there's one

in West Africa and there's
one that would be somewhere

near the southern
part of Africa,

known as the Benguela Current.

These belts, almost
like moving roads,

they could come just
by being on the boat

with the wind just
putting your sail in a way

that the boat could come
to this part of the world.

So, we know that the
Kemites, the Egyptians,

the Sudanese, had this power.

We know that they had the
boats that would be able

to make a trip this way
along with the fact that

they had different types of
ways in which to power it,

whether it was through the wind

or whether it was through oars.

They knew how to travel the
waters that would be the ocean

currents and the wind systems.

And they knew the seasons
to know when that the winds

would be at their best.

So they knew when to travel.

Not only is it possible
but they did it

and you can see it in the
civilization of the Olmec,

of the Maya, of the pyramids.

There are over 100 pyramids
along the Mississippi River.

- You are the original
people on this Earth.

And so the natives now,
the native Indians say,

well, we are the
Native Americans.

No, you're not the
Native Americans.

You had the Folsom people.

The Folsom people were Africans
who came to this country

way back 16,000 years ago
and landed around Texas

and New Mexico and down
in Central America.

They landed called
Folsom people.

That's why you got a
Folsom, California.

Folsom Rock, Colorado,
Folsom, New Mexico,

you got a Folsom Prison.

The Folsom people were Black
people and Indian Americans,

so called Indians are
descendants of the Asian

came across the Bering
Straits and then came down

and interbred with the
Blacks who were here.

And the Folsom people that's
why they're not yellow skin

they interbred to became
what they call redskins

But Blacks were he original
people, Folsom people.

So you have some integrity
about what's happening.

- This is our land, we
in North West Africa

standing right now, what
we call North America.

And it's a known
fact that it's there.

But what happens if I taught
you in my school system

for 12 years and then 12,
four more years I'm gonna

educate you in my college,
you only going to repeat

directly what I
just said to you.

You see what I'm saying?

Until someone steps up and
says, no, this is who we are.

There's a book as a matter
of fact there's a Webster

Dictionary in 1937,
1939, Websters Dictionary

talks about the
definition of America.

And it's aboriginal or
copic colored natives found

on the American continent
by the Europeans.

- In an effort to deny
the African origins

of culture and civilization,
Europeans have paid money

to send people in to excavate
and the more they dig

the more black they find.

The people, the culture
and the civilization.

When they went to
Mesopotamia to try

to find the civilization
that preceded Kemet,

what they found was Black folk.

So they stopped digging.

They're afraid.

George Reisner from the
Boston Museum of Fine Arts

was considered to be one
of the foremost authorities

on civilization in Kush.

And when Reisner was excavating
in the Sudan in the Early

20th Century, he said that
there's no way Black people,

Africans could have
developed this culture

and civilization.

So he was one of the first
Europeans to deny the African

origins of what
was found in Africa

and then his colleague,
James Henry Breasted,

the founder of the
Oriental Institute.

In his book he wrote
in 1912 I believe,

called, "Ancient Times,"
Breasted described

the people of the Nile
Valley as dark-skinned people

who are not unlike the
Nubians that you would

find in Aswan.

And then around 1934-35,
John D. Rockefeller,

the founder of the University
of Chicago, gave Breasted

$1.5 million to establish
the Oriental Institute.

Because what Rockefeller
wanted to do was to give

Breasted the money
so that Breasted

could go into Mesopotamia
and find a European origin

of civilization.

- [Narrator] Today there stands

at the University of Chicago,

the Oriental Institute,

the first laboratory
ever established

for the study of the
most remarkable process

known to us in the
universe, the rise of man

from savagery to civilization.

It was created in 1919, by
Dr. James Henry Breasted,

its first director with
funds originally contributed

by John D. Rockefeller Jr.

Subsequently, it has been
supported by the International

and General Education Board

and by the Rockefeller
Foundation.

And so when Breasted
published a revised edition

of Ancient Times in 1935,
Breasted removed all references

to the Egyptians as
dark-skinned people.

And then introduced
a whole new language.

He described the Egyptians
as dark-skinned Caucasians.

He said that region of the world

that quadrant of the world where
the great white race lived.

We are dysfunctional beings
who don't know what it means

to be human.

So one of the issues that
we're dealing with is

that in order to suppress
to knowledge of Egypt,

Egypt had to be removed
from Black people

and ultimately
removed from Africa.

So that blockages would
be placed in our path

as we attempted to recover
that which others stole

and then made illegal
in order to prevent us

from beginning to regain
that knowledge that would

empower us and allow
us to free ourselves,

free our children and
ultimately liberate ourselves

from their continued
psychological and
economic oppression.

- When you look 1492,
January 2nd to be exact,

there is going to be
a cataclysmic change

in the way in which the
world is structured.

This is when Boabdil,
the last African king

is repulsed out of
Spain in Granada.

And that is when the
combined nation states

of Castile and Aragon,
led by Queen Isabella

and King Ferdinand are
going to retake Spain

and it's going to
be from this point

that all of the pathways,
all of the shipping ways,

all of the things that
Europe learned from Africans

while they were there
from 710 to 1492 ACE,

After the Christian Era.

And now all of the roads
that led into Europe,

Europeans are not going to
take all those roads out

into the world.

And they are going to
bring a disastrous Maafa,

Maafa is a key Swahili word.

It means a terroristic disaster.

That is going to
plunder our planet.

It is going to
change the structure.

The Catholic Church is
going to go into Africa

and claim that God gave
them the right to enslave

African people.

That they are going to
create a legal system

that is going to enslave
because God told them

that they were
destined to do this.

They're going to come to America

and they're going to burn
the books of the Maya.

They're going to burn the
books of the indigenous people.

Saying that they are
works of the devil.

They are going to burn
the books of Africa.

They are going to burn the
books that are in Europe

that Africans brought in there.

There are going to change
the structure of the world

at the same time they're
going to parasitically

attach themself to
the information that
they are learning.

They are going to come to
this part of the world,

they're going to go to Asia,
they're going to go to India.

And they're going to go
to war with the world.

So that they are
stealing African history

but more importantly than that.

They are beginning to
realize as Count Volney says

in his opening
introduction to his book,

"Ruins of Empires" that the
very people that are looked

upon below the human
structure of the human family.

In other words, the Africans
that are being enslaved

in France and St. Lucia and
Martinique and in Louisiana

are the very people that
gave the world the arts

and the sciences.

And so you can see the war
that's going to occur now

is going to be, to take
the information and change

it completely when someone
tells a perfect lie,

the truth becomes
unbelievable. (echoing)

What happened in the areas
that we today in history

call the Medieval Period
or even some people call

it the Dark Ages of Europe.

When you go into the research

and you study what
was actually happening

in the world, what
you're going to look at

is you're going to
see the destruction

of what was called
the Holy Roman Empire.

There will be northern
Germanic tribes that are going

to come down out of
the northern areas

and regions of places in
Germany and in the northern

parts of Europe and they
are going to come down

across the globe down south

and they are going to sack
the Holy Roman Empire.

That is what causes the
fall of the Roman Empire.

The Visigoths and Vandals
are going to come down

and they're going to settle
in this area that we today

call Espana or Spain/Portugal.

Somewhere in the 600s, the
late 600s you're going to have

northern Africans and you're
gonna have northwest Africans

who are going to travel north.

They're going to find themselves
on the coast of Morocco

in a place called Ceuta.

In 710, there is going to
be a lieutenant in the army

of the North Africans and his
name is going to be Tarif.

Tarif is going to
travel into Spain

and he's going to set up
a reconnaissance mission

for the general that he
works for and while there

he is going to establish
a small enclave

that is called Tarif.

This is where we get the
concepts of a tariff or to pay

to travel named after
Tarifa, Lieutenant Tarifa.

He's going to return.

He's going to come back to
his general, who his name

is Ibn Tariq.

Tariq now in July of 711
is going to cross over

and he's going to go into
Spain and what's interesting

is that there are families
and there are people

in Spain that welcome the
coming of these Africans

and they are going
to move from Africa

and they are going
to move into Spain

and they're going to do
battle with the Visigoths.

Eventually Rodrigo, one
of the last generals

of the Visigothic Kingdom
is going to be killed

and the Africans are
going to continue across

the Pyrenees into France.

And they're going to
go across into Europe

and bring with them the
technology and the knowledge

that they have amassed
from the ancient kingdoms

that they've been studying.

- Let's go back for a minute.

A lot of people don't overstand
the history of the Moors.

Because when you study
history the Moors

are the original Phoenicians,
the Canaanites, Moabites,

the Hamites, all those people.

Charles Martel is one of
the guys who is actually

a big part of defeating
the Moors basically.

Defeated the Moors and then
after they defeated the Moors,

the Moors also fell
directly after that

and made it easier for
them to destroy the Moors

in 1492 with Queen
Isabella and Ferdinand.

- Charles Martel, who
is the grandfather

of Charlemagne is going
to repel the Africans

back into Spain and
the boundaries of Spain

that we refer to Al
Andaluz, which means

to walk in a spiritual light.

Al Andaluzia is going to
be bounded in the north

by Sierra Guadarrama.

They're going to be bounded
on the east by the Ebro River.

And they're going to be
bounded by the coastline

that's going to be
the Mediterranean

into the Atlantic Ocean,

which is going to bound
the southern part of Spain

and the western
part of Portugal.

They're going to settle
here and remain here

from basically 711 until
1492, January 2nd 1492.

General Boabdil is overcome
by the combined kingdoms

of Aragon and Castile.

Queen Isabella and
King Ferdinand.

- Ah man, we was there
from 711 until 1492.

We were there for a long time.

We were there way before
that but if we go beyond 700s

and when you start
looking at 136 B.C

and all these other things.

We've been there.

What it was they went back

and they really were
fighting one another.

When you look up
Hercules, Maxima Hercules.

Hercules was actually
a Roman Emperor.

So you had Hannibal who was
in the Carthaginian War.

So we always fought one
another back and forth,

they were tribal wars.

So we been there.

We just went
directly back again.

But what happens, the Anglo
Saxons saw us fighting

one another and they
stepped in the fight.

And then that's the separation
started coming about

when they saw the
weakness in us like today.

- Moors built Granada
centuries ago,

now we've taken it back.

But it's a tragic
victory for us,

we're losing a great culture.

(crowd cheering)

I suppose there's a price
to be paid for every victory

isn't there senor Columbus?

- Now the Moors were,
like I said again,

the Phoenicians, the original
Romans that we call Romans

today, that we talk
about the ancient Romans,

which the Moors are Africans.

So a lot of people get it
twisted as if we're talking

about modern day Moors, we're
talking about Ancient Moors.

So the Moors are the people
that is called negro, black

and colored today basically.

But before that we were the
Canaanites, the Phoenicians,

the Hittites and all
these types of people.

So that's really who the
Moors are to this today,

which no doubt a contradiction.

- While here, these
Africans are going

to bring agricultural science.

They are going to
bring in the orange

and they're gonna bring
in the strawberry.

They're going to bring in
different types of foods.

They're going to bring in the
idea of eating in courses.

They also will bring
in eating utensils.

- The spices that people in
India use or the olive oil

that's in Italy, all of
that extended from the Moors

because the Moors always
dealt with spices.

It's a whole host of
things that came directly

from the Moors.

- They will bring in fashion.

Whereas instead of wearing the
same garment all year long,

they're going to bring
in other types of fabric

that these Africans
have been exposed to.

- Linen man, the linen
that we wear everyday,

that the Italians wear.

Like you know people
say, Italian made suits.

It's not Italian made suits,
they're Moorish suits.

They just tagged
their name on it.

You following me?

- There is an active
relationship between China

and the East and Africa.

There is a wonderful
trade going on.

They're sharing.

They are not at war
with each other.

They are communicating
with each other.

There is evidence of elephants
being brought into China

on boats, huge boats.

Those boats still exist
today in many museums.

There were many things
happening in the world

at this time that Europe
was not a part of.

And out of this is
going to come the music,

the development of the
first music conservatory

that is going to be
located in Spain.

Africans are going to
bring in libraries.

They're going to bring in
the idea of developing homes

that are related to the winds.

They brought in the concept
of building your homes

where the cool aid could
bring in a refrigerated air.

They're going to
create universities.

They're going to create
the University of Salamanca

Lisboa in Portugal.

Universities in France
such as Toulouse.

They are going to develop
universities throughout Europe

where the knowledgeable
people will go to learn

and these Africans are
going to be doing this type

of research and there
will be some who will come

to the New World.

- They wonder how you know
our position since we've lost

sight of land days ago.

- And what do you think Mendes?

- I know you're navigating by
the stars like the Moors do.

But I don't know how.

- So when many of your
so-called organizations

allege to be aiding
or helping our people

and avoid telling them about
the truth of Moorish history

in the world and
particularly in Europe, etc.

Including the Renaissance.

And Renaissance is where you
get the term, to be born again.

That you hear Europeans
talk about in church, etc.

And that's where the
seven liberal arts,

the seven liberal arts
were introduced to Europe

and brought them out of what
is known as the medieval period

into the modern era.

- As a student of history, I
also know civilization's debt

to Islam.

It was Islam that places
like Al-Azhar that carried

the light of learning
through so many centuries,

paving the way for Europe's
Renaissance and Enlightenment.

- When the Moors first
came into Europe,

there was, they were coming
up out of a lot of different

situations, a lot of
different diseases.

Africans brought in
the concept of soap.

They brought in something
that they called alkuhl,

A-L-K-U-H-L and today
we call it alcohol.

They realized that the great
majority, upwards of maybe

somewhere between 95-98%
of Europe was illiterate.

Now illiterate we have to
understand that the world

was an agricultural world.

There was no real reason
to study the higher levels

of science and arts.

But in Africa these subjects
had been in place for thousands

of years and they brought
these universities in

and they began to build
these universities.

And they began to
educate the people.

The first math rigor that
you face in Freshman year

is algebra.

This is al-gebra brought in by
the Moors and it's the search

for the unknown.

So you're searching for
what the x represents

and the equal sign we know that
whatever you do on one side

of the equal sign, you
do on the other side

of the equal sign.

So you have in your formulations
the idea of searching

for the unknown by searching
for justice and balance

and harmony in
the laws of ma'at.

So after you've master algebra,
geo-metry and trigonometry

you then begin the
calculations of the heavens

and the earth which
we call calculus.

So they brought in this
concept of a pattern of study.

- Usually, it's just referred
to as the seven liberal

arts rhetoric, mathematics,
cosmology, etc.,

linguistics, trigonometry.

It's the foundation what is
used in general education

actually across the world.

- It was innovation in Muslim
communities that developed

the order of algebra.

Our magnetic compass and tools
of education, our mastery

of pens and printing,
our understanding

of how disease spreads
and how it can be healed.

- Of course they have
subcategories, jurisprudence,

you have subcategories and
jurisprudence is the superior

title under which laws
become or what you call laws,

the studies of laws, the types
of laws, categories of law.

So law would come
under jurisprudence.

- The educational system too,
we were the first mothers

and father of them.

The first mothers of father
of civilization teaching

history in law and language.

Yeah, so all of
that comes from us.

Even the language we use
today, we say is Latin

but we call it Moorish Latin
and they use Latin today

in the courtrooms,
you follow me.

Everything they say in
a courtroom is Latin.

In Propria Persona,
Amicus Curiae

They are Latin terms which
also extended from the Moors,

which is also an
offshoot of Arabic.

- And of course, as you can
see many of the Europeans

would imitate the Moors and
they had set a party forth

was known as the Whigmore Party.

And this is where Europeans
would wear the curly wigs,

that they do even today in
England to imitate the Moors

who actually brought
them civilization.

- They had a
freedom of religion.

So every spiritual system
had their own court of law

and the way in which they would
develop their court of law

and they would judge themselves.

And so what Africans brought
in was a tremendous amount

of freedom.

There was a great amount
of freedom for women.

There were women who
were brought into
the main industries.

- And throughout history
Islam has demonstrated through

words and deeds the
possibilities of
religious tolerance

and racial equality.

I also know that
Islam has always been

a part of America's story.

The first nation to recognize
my country was Morocco.

In signing the Treaty
of Tripoli in 1796.

- The science of the culture
of the Moors is loosely

referred to in world culture
as the study of mother

and son or what you call
Auset and Horus on her knee,

which is mother
and son or masonry.

So when you're talking
about Moors in Europe,

you must recognize that the
United States corporation

company is a European colony.

And you cannot separate the two.

So, if you want to talk
about European history

or American history,
they cannot rightfully

be talked about as separate
subjects because they're

intertwined actually.

And of course this is also
why anyone in positions

of authority or what you call
political economic powers

must be masons.

And must in secret wear
the Moorish fez, even they

dress it up in jewels and
they pin the tassel down

because they're
not the Americans.

We are. (echoing)

- I believe our Creator.

In looking at the pyramid
builders, realized that

these Africans
lived in a paradise.

They had problems, I'm
not saying that they lived

in the perfect paradise, they
had a little bit of a problem

but for the most part
they lived in a world

that was more heaven
than anything else.

And our Creator said, we
need to help you understand

the world because we need to
create a more perfect world.

So, with all of your
theories of hell,

you've never been in it before.

So somewhere along
this cosmic history

we're going to pull a
group of you Africans out

and we're going to
place you in hell

and we're going to make
you experience a life

that no one ever knew
existed because only someone

who actually could
inflict that kind of pain

with no conscious could ever
do to another human being

and then claim that God
told them they had the right

to do this.

We're gonna do this, however,
we know that only the best

of the best is going
to survive this

and those that survive
are going to be those

that are gonna set in
place a new world order.

And so, Europeans came into
Africa and they stole children

and people from Africa.

Imagine you playing in your
backyard or playing in your home

and someone invades your home
and snatches your family.

Only the best of the best
could have survived that attack

and then they're gonna
take those that survive.

The best of those best,
they're going to track them

for miles across land,
only the best of the best

could survive that
movement across.

They're gonna then, when they
get to the edge of the coast,

they're gonna put
them in prisons on top

of each other where they are
going to go to the bathroom

on each other.

They are gonna
vomit on each other.

They are gonna
cry on each other.

Only the best of the
best could survive that.

And after a little while
they're gonna take the best

of the best that didn't
die in those prisons

and they're gonna
put them on boats.

And they're gonna track
them across the waters,

only the best of the best
could survive that trip.

They're then going to
bring them to a land

and they're going to
subjugate them to torture,

to pain, to murder
and to mayhem.

They're going to inflict
such pain on these people.

Only the best of the
best could survive that.

Then after they tortured them
and they get them to fall

into their will, they're
then going to sell them

to various places within
the areas and they're

gonna make them work for free.

They're gonna deny them every
right that a human being has.

In fact, they're not even
going to be considered

human beings, they're going
to be counted with the cows

and the goats and the
other possessions.

Imagine what I'm saying because
only the best of the best

could survive that.

Then, one day, they're
going to be so-called freed.

Free to do what?

Free to go where?

Where my 40 acres and a mule?

Only the best of the
best could survive that.

They then are going to fight
in a civil rights movement,

fight in a human
rights movement.

They are going to create
strategies as to how they can

begin to get their rights.

Only the best of the
best could do this.

Remember my story
about the Creator.

Taking that group out
and placing them in hell.

So we not only know the
heaven but we know the hell.

We now can make a choice
as to where we're going

in our future.

And so we the people who
have the DNA of the heaven,

we have the DNA of the hell.

We are going to rise. (echoing)

- One thing we gotta be clear
about when we talk about

post-traumatic is trauma.

You have to understand
trauma to understand

the psychological
residuals of slavery.

Slavery was just
not a bad accident,

it was just not a bad event.

It was traumatizing, which
means it disrupted the natural

way that the human mind
functions in African people.

- The impact of slavery
on the Black psyche.

The impact of slavery
on Black cultural tools.

The impact of slavery on
Black concepts and visions

of themselves and their history.

- Because Black folk have
been conditioned to believe

that we were nothing.

And so when we get positive
information about who we are

it can affect us so much
that we may reject the truth

because we're so
used to the lies.

- How much of that is
carried forward now.

And the things we
developed during slavery

to defend ourselves against
slavery, psycho-spiritually,

that we still use now.

That instead of defending
us against slavery,

it is harming us.

And it's keeping
us from uniting.

- [Joy] What are
of the behaviors

that we learned to
survive during that

extraordinary hostile
environment and
period in our history.

What of those behaviors
that we learned to survive

has led to an injury to our
perception of who we are today.

- Black men and women
if the slave masters

and the overseers on the
plantation saw them showing love

and affection and regard
for themselves they realized

there was a danger with
that kind of bonding

where people began to
organize and rebel.

So they would sell people
away, break up the family,

so Black men and women had
to pretend they didn't love

each other, had to deny
affection, had to deny

the warmth and the caring
behavior towards one another

and so we still do
that as a community.

And that's a carryover
from slavery.

- [Joy] The antipathy
we feel with regard

to one another.

Everything from our hair
texture to our features,

our skin color.

- Who was it, I believe it
was the great Frantz Fanon

talked about that,
the inferiority.

That's what we have, the
light skin, the dark skin.

- [Joy] Being light-skinned
and having good hair

and all of those speak to a
people who have been taught

to loathe themselves.

- Again, that's not
knowing knowledge of self.

You follow me?

Once we understand who we
are they use those color code

caste system on us also
here, light-skinned, black.

What is that?

A light-skinned Black person.

And what we do because of
time we actually repeating

exactly what was laid
down to us basically.

This is how it is.

But the reality is that we
are all the same people.

We never was one
shade of people.

- When our ancestors were
enslaved they had to separate

us from our culture,
from our identity.

Because again, that
tells us who we are

and so with the enslavement
process they had to take

all that away from us
and not only take it away

but they had to make us think
that anything associated

with Africa, anything that
was Black was negative.

And that's something that
had to be perpetuated

for hundreds and hundreds
and hundreds of years

to the point where
now it's not so,

it's not expressed so
outwardly but it's more subtle.

It's in the media,
it's in our music.

But again, in order to make
sure that we stay on the bottom

we have to hate ourselves.

So things are perpetuated
to ensure that we follow

that path.

- We pass on the fear.

We pass on the self hate.

We pass on the stereotypes
and we pass on the socialized

behavior that we
learned during slavery.

- But the other piece to
this I think we are beginning

to look at and science
in particular is
beginning to look at

is what role does biology,
physiology, genetics play

in what we are seeing now.

Recent research has indicated
that we actually can hold

in a form of genetic memory
the stressors that affected

our grandparents for example.

So, when you take that and
understand it from the vantage

point of trauma.

So if our ancestors experienced
generations of trauma,

then that has impacted our DNA.

In some ways to build
resilience, to be
able to survive it.

In other ways that have been
very damaging to us physically,

everything from
hypertension to diabetes.

- We can recognize that
white supremacy doesn't have

our best interests but we
will still love white people.

We can recognize that
the school don't work

for our children, we will
still send them there.

So we have to recognize
what, I would refer to

as maladaptors and
dysfunctional behavior.

We are dysfunction.

The psyche of the Black men
and woman has been dysfunction

because the trauma has never
been reduced or reversed.

And although we living
now, we're not the enslaved

Africans of the 1800s.

We are the descendants of
them and the behaviors,

the pain, the DNA, the
genetic material that they had

was put into us.

So it's important to
understand that you can still

be a victim of slavery
having never been a slave

because all of the behaviors
affects and outcomes

of enslavement have
been manifested in you

by direct intergenerational
transfer of energy.

Genetic, behavioral,
intellectual,
cultural, spiritual,

educational, so forth and so on.

We were never taught to
be afraid of white folk

by the slavemaster.

But we were taught to
be afraid of white folk

by our parents, who in turn
were taught to be afraid

of white folk by their parents.

So the psyche of the Black man
is as much under the control

of slavery as if we
lived in it ourselves.

- I remember when I got married,

I got married in Malcolm
X's sister's bedroom.

And his sister Ella
told me after my wife

and my mother walked
out of the room.

She called me back and says,
"I want to tell you two things.

"One, don't turn your
wife into a whore

"and two, never let anybody
know how much you love her."

And the first part I got,
the second part I didn't get.

But when I started looking
at what happened in slavery,

not wanting the slavemaster
to know how much I loved

that woman so he wouldn't
take her away from me,

has become a part of
our daily culture.

And instead of building
the family it is leading

to the dissolution and
destruction of the family.

- When a mind is traumatized,
in order for it to regain

a degree of normalcy, to
return to a sense of self

that existed prior to the
trauma, you need peace of mind.

You need a healthy
supportive environment.

The Black mind is still
experiencing trauma

because even though slavery
ended, the psychological

terrorism continued.

So our minds have never
been allowed to be given

the time necessary
to repair itself.

See the mind is self-repairing

but in order for the
mind to self-repair,

you gotta give it
time and peace.

Black folks have never
had any time or peace

away from white
supremacy in this country

to allow our minds
the opportunity

to come back to a
healthy equilibrium.

And so that terrorism, that
Michael Brown terrorism,

that Trayvon Martin terrorism,
okay that police brutality,

that economic terrorism,
that unemployment,

that mass incarceration.

That knowing that you
can be shot and killed

tomorrow for no
fault of your own

and the person will
never go to jail,

that type of constant vigilance,

that type of hyper vigilance

keeps the mind in a
traumatized state.

And never gives it
the opportunity to
go back to a point

of equilibrium and homeostasis.

So it can go back into a
natural functioning pattern.

- Is there to be no escape
to living near Negroes?

And what of the dream of
middle class respectability.

If a Negro family can
afford what you can afford

how do you justify your feeling
of superiority. (echoing)

- So I don't like using
the term, white supremacy

because the mind recreates
terminology that we use

and applies that white
people are supreme.

I call it what it is, racism.

And the only antidote to
racism is knowledge of self.

The more Black, Brown, Yellow
people know of their own

history, the more they're
able to free themselves

from the clutches of racism.

Which is dependent upon people
embracing lies as the truth.

- We have to understand that
this idea of white supremacy

and rights that people have.

We first have to look
at what is supremacy?

Before we put the adjective
what describes the supremacy.

What is supremacy?

And it is the belief that you
are better than other people.

And to be supreme demands
that you must have an action

that proves that supremacy.

And the reality of it is, is
as we look a European history

there is nothing they
can attach themselves to

that would make them supreme.

- Well I was, and I love
Neely and I love Frances

and they're both my
teachers but I use the term,

the false notion
of white supremacy.

Because there is no such
thing as white supremacy.

If you're supreme you
don't have to do nothing.

You don't have to exert
yourself, just your being

allows you to be supreme.

When you have to murder,
when you have to rape,

when you have to distort,
when you have to lie,

when you have to deceive.

When you have to undermine,
when you have to practice

genocide against other
people in order to feel

bigger about yourself.

There's nothing
supreme about you

Genetically, you have
mutated psycho-spiritually.

And you know longer have
the capacity to contain

the ethical moral principles
that make one a human being.

And so that's what
we're dealing with

and so those people who
are finding themselves

in that condition is asserting
a false notion of supremacy

using murder, mayhem and
genocide against others

of the human race.

- In an operative sense,
the only functional form

of racism on the planet
is white supremacy.

That doesn't mean that there
could not be theoretically

be another kind but
in a functional sense,

the only functional fully
actualized system of racism

on the planet is
white supremacy.

There other forms of
ethnocentrism, other
forms of prejudice

and bigotry but that's
the only system that's

really systematized and
it certainly is global

in a sense that even
though in many ways

it began in the colonies
of what became the U.S.

We have very effectively
exported white supremacy

around the globe, so that now
white supremacy American style

is starting to affect the
actions of people of color

around the globe.

There are these reports of
sub-Saharan African women

bleaching their skin with dyes
that are literally killing

them toxically and yet and
that wasn't happening 300 years

ago in Africa.

That wasn't happening
a thousand years ago,

that's the product of
global white supremacy.

Asian women in Asian nations
who are having surgery

to change the fold of their
eye so as to look more Western.

That wasn't happening 500
years ago in Asian countries,

that's the result of global
white supremacy for sure.

- There is no such
things as race.

Except for the human race
and the concept of race

was created to do
exactly what it has done,

which is separate and
categorize people based on

the color of their skin.

Racism, it's a method used
to ensure that white people,

who have been placed at
the top of the ladder

will not have to
compete with other races

and so when you create
this hierarchy of race,

then of course, you have
to associate with each race

certain characteristics,
whether it's their intellectual

ability, things that
basically will categorize them

and identify them generally as
being less than someone else.

- I think the reason that
we're misinformed about it

is because for the most part
we've been led to believe

that these racial identities
have some type of real

biological scientific meaning.

Like we've really been,
most people if you ask them

if race, if there's really
such a thing as the Black race,

the white race, the Asian race.

They really believe
in those things.

They think there
are hard differences
between Black people,

white people, Asian people,
Latino people, genetically

and biologically even
though all of modern science

tells us that is not true

but that is what an
awful lot of people

have been led to believe.

If you've been led to believe
that by the weight of history

then it's very hard for to
get your head around the idea

that race is really
just this thing

we've used to divide people.

Because you're thinking,
no it's not, it actually

manifests in different abilities
and different intelligence

and different talents.

Because people have
really been taught that

and if you've been taught
that for hundreds of years,

it's going to take quite
a while to undo that

kind of mentality.

- So it becomes important
for us to understand

that white supremacy
only exists in the minds

that believe that
white is supreme.

If you get to the point
that you don't believe it,

the only power that white
supremacy has over people

is that the people
believe that it's a fact.

Once you shake that
fact and you understand

who you're dealing with,
you don't have a problem

anymore with white supremacy
because the only thing

keeping it alive is the fact
that you think it still exists.

White supremacy is an illusion.

It always has been an
illusion and it will always

be an illusion.

- The creation of
scientific racism, in fact,

the creation of race as
a concept was really part

of trying to rationalize the
dichotomy of on the one hand

saying, all men are
created equal or the notion

of liberty, equality,
fraternity and the reality

of subordination.

So if you're telling everyone
that you believe in equity

but you're treating people
unequally, you have to come

up with a justification.

What better justification
than these people are inferior

or these people are not
civilized or these people

are heathens or not
Christian or whatever.

And so I think scientific
racism, really race as a concept

became necessary at that
point where white folks

from Europe felt the need to
justify what they were doing.

(eerie music)

- Again in an effort to
resolve and dissonance,

we are always going to bring
in every major discipline

that we can.

And I've often said that in
order for oppression, racism,

slavery to have existed,

you had to have every
major institution

in America complicit.

In other words, everyone
had to sign off on this

and they had to somehow
make or normalize

what was being done.

So if you were to consider
people like Carl Linnaeus

for example, considered to be
the father of anthropology.

This individual, 1707-1778,
I believe he lived.

He was then in a position,
as a "scientist" even though

he lacked any of the actual
skills to give him that

particular title but
nonetheless, he began to embark

upon this notion of
classifying races.

And you know one has to
look at the time in which

he did that and while
he was in the mid 1700s,

espousing these notions of
race and race difference,

again, you have to understand
that this is a predecessor

to any understanding about
DNA at all, mitochondrial DNA,

no real understanding.

But the social agenda
then was to clearly share

by classifying races that this
particular group of people,

Europeans are somehow
superior and deserving

and these other folks,
Africans, Asians, Natives

are somehow inferior
and therefore deserving

of whatever treatment
you're meting out to them.

- There was a German guy,

I think his name was Johann
Blumenbach, I believe

that was his name.

He the one came up
with the color system.

See before that we didn't
have the color system.

But we don't realize over
here because number one,

we don't study language.

We don't study etymology.

We don't study the origins
of where that word came from,

white, black and all that.

- And so again this is
placed before us as though

it is a science, when in
fact, there's not a shred

of science in it.

Anyone looking, and matter
of fact people like Linneaus

are looked upon with great
shame from contemporary

anthropologists and
cultural scientists.

It's shameful because they
realize that there's no science

at all and yet it is employed
to ease the conscious

if you will, to somehow
resolve the dissonance to say,

no, no, no these people
are different, inferior

and therefore all that
we have done to them,

whether we have raped or
pillaged and taken them

or forcefully removed
them from their land.

All of it was justified
because we are indeed superior

and they are, of course,
scientifically inferior.

- I would say that
unquestionably I am an American,

born there, my father a
slave there upon the backs

of my people was developed
the primary wealth of America,

the primary wealth.

You have to have accumulated
wealth to start, you know

to build.

You did it another
way here in Australia.

You had to build your
accumulated wealth too,

you just came and took it.

And that's what they did
in most of the countries.

That's what you Europeans
did, you just took it.

We got to catch up
with you a little bit.

(laughing)

- Initially race was just
a group-based phenomenon.

What groups get there
first gets the most.

But after they had done it.

After the race had ended,
see when racism started

they chose Black folk to
be the primary subject

of wealth building in the world.

And it's not just whites now,
keep in mind that all groups,

every group on Earth has
enslaved and profited

from Blacks being enslaved

Jim Crow segregated and
denied, and exploited.

But once whites got started
it became an economic issue.

It became an economic
issue between Europeans

and Blacks who are being
enslaved up until about

the 1500s all the
way up to about the,

until about 1859, it
was an economic issue.

Then in 1859, Charles
Darwin wrote the book

about the survival of
the species, survival
of the strongest

and that was the same
time that the slavery

was coming to an end.

The emphasis shift from
being an economic issue

to being a biological issue.

So whites then required
through government

that every black person
born would be designated

as Black or Negro or
Colored and then it became

a badge then, it became
a badge of losers then.

- White and Black,
they're not complexions.

This is white, when we
talk about white and black.

We're talking about
white is basically,

it's a status issue.

Black is not a color of
people, it's not either.

So what happens is they call
it a color code caste system.

I'm going to repeat this
for everybody can hear this.

It's a color code caste system.

When you travel to other
countries, it is not based

on your color, it's basically
based on your nationality,

your principles, your morals.

(fire crackling)

If you look up black in any
regular Webster's dictionary,

rather people say it's
the white man's whatever.

It's language.

We all went to
their school system.

They told us to
go home and study.

Once you study what black
is, it's an Old English word,

it's an Old English word,
it's still Anglo-Saxon.

The Anglo-Saxon
were English people.

So what happens they
didn't use the term white

and black until you came
over here into these states.

So it has nothing to do
with complexion at all.

It's a status.

- Because by then
the race was over.

Slavery had maldistributed
almost 100% of all this nation's

wealth, power, resource,
privileges and controls

of all resources, and controls
of all levels of government

into the hands of the
dominant white society.

And so once they saw it
was a biological issue

in 1859, colored, black,
negro, whatever term they use

became a badge of inferiority
and a badge of the losers

in a society.

And whiteness became
superiority, a badge
of superiority,

power and wealth.

It stayed a color issue
up until about the 1960s

and that point it switched
from being a color issue

to being a personal issue.

But if you're going to
deal with it effectively

you have to go back to the
original basis which that

it was a superior issue
that came out of a contest

between whites and blacks
where whites acquired

control, almost 100%
control and ownership

of all resources
and power and wealth

and they assigned it
to their skin color.

- But we've never been
taught white supremacy

and the reason we've never
been taught white supremacy

is in America, one
of the unwritten laws

is the oppressed are not
allowed to openly criticize

the oppressor.

I don't know if you notice this.

Black people are very anxious
about openly criticizing

white people.

We'll do it at an
all Black event

but when white folks are around
we don't feel comfortable.

Think about it, we don't even
like calling racism, racism.

White folk have made
us so uncomfortable.

Oh, he's playing the race card.

You're just making an excuse.

You guys stop blaming
us, if you don't like it.

Go to Africa.

So now you say, I don't
want to say it was racism.

I know it was racism

but if I say it was racism,

I'll look like I'm not
taking responsibility.

If I say it was racism
I make white folks mad.

If I say it was racism I'll let
people know that I recognize

the hidden agenda.

So we don't like to call race.

Even with black oppression,
what do they call it poverty.

See poverty, not
racism, poverty.

The kids aren't learning in
school because they're poor.

The kids aren't
learning in school

because they're underfunded.

The kids aren't learning in
school because the school

districts aren't
charging enough taxes

for the school tax.

You see that?

The kids aren't learning
in school because the moms

are not married.

You see.

And why do they rather
blame poverty than race?

Because it's more
acceptable to say capitalism

is at the root than racism, why?

If you say capitalism is at
the root of Black people's

problems, all Black
people gotta do is change

their economic situation and
they change their reality,

you follow me?

Get a education, get a nice job.

You can get out the ghetto,
put your family in a white

suburb, no more complaints.

You see that?

So they'd rather blame poverty
'cause you can do something

about poverty, you can
climb out of poverty.

But if you say it's
because of race,

you can get you a doctorate,
you can move to the suburb.

You're still black.

You can move to another country,

you can move to another city,

you're still Black.

You can have a Black president,
you can be a millionaire,

you're still Black.

See racism is permanent.

And so they would rather
blame poverty because it looks

like you can do something
about it but when you blame

racism, that's saying you
will always suffer that

as long as you are
with these people.

Because what you suffer is
due to the color of your skin

and cannot be changed and
that's why we are not allowed

to talk about racism,
white supremacy.

We only allowed to talk about
poverty and discrimination.

(drum music)

- From my understand
when Europeans during

the Age of Exploration, when
Europeans began to leave

the continent and travel
the world, they realized

that all around the world
there were people of color

when they began to
intermingle with these people

of color and impregnate the
women, they would notice

that nine months later that
child would come out having

color, it would
not look like them.

And so once they realized
that if they continued

to mix, the white race could
potentially be eliminated.

So I see white supremacy as
a way of them doing whatever

is possible, whatever
is necessary to ensure

that other races will not
have to compete with them

but also that they can
stay on top and maintain

the power and the
wealth in society

and the world altogether.

- The European nations have
said of themselves in the last

decade that are at
minus birthrate.

Meaning there are more
Europeans dying of natural death

than they are able to give
birth to in natural birth.

And so all of the chemical
and technological ways

of giving birth that they've
produced over the last 30 years

have come about to
compensate for that loss.

And they're still
not able to keep up.

So what you see is this
enormous push to adopt,

white Latino babies, adopt
white Filipino babies,

to adopt white skinned
Asian babies, to infuse

in their gene pool a group
of genes that would allow

them to survive as an organism.

It's not going to work
and genetic annihilation,

which they fear the most
is happening everyday.

And they are unable to reverse
it with all of the chemical

and technical
skills they've had.

And so what they've done is
looking upon the superminority

that they are going to be.

They're already only one-ninth
of the world population.

The white people are the only
minority on the planet today

but they still push this
notion of being a majority

through the tyranny, mayhem
and control of information

and educational institutions
across the world.

- By saying that the white
race is the supreme race,

then again you have to
really create stereotypes

and you have to
create other fallacies

that will perpetuate that
lie that again it's a matter

of studying European history,
studying African history,

studying world history.

When you study that and put
everything on a timeline,

you see that people of
color lived on this planet

and it come into existence
hundreds and thousands

of years before Caucasians.

And so again, I can't fault
them, because I understand

that that's what
have done to ensure

that their race survives.

Racism is a competitive
relationship between

groups of people.

It's a group phenomenon
first of all.

It's a group phenomenon.

But in recent times people
try to make it an individual

phenomenon, it's not.

It's a group phenomenon.

Groups are in competition to
acquire, in a contest acquire

control and ownership of
resources and for wealth

building resources.

And that's what racism is,

that's why the
word race was used.

Unfortunately our people
think it's similar

to discrimination and
prejudice and bigotry and bias.

It's not, it is a contest
where people are competing

as a group.

That's why it makes no sense
for Black folks to keep

asking for equality and
equal opportunity in a race.

That defeats the whole
purpose of having a race.

If you want to have equalness
and equality and opportunity

and treat people equally,
don't have a race.

- The competitive instinct
that's sort of inherent

to capitalism as an economic
system is part of the engine

of racism.

Now I don't necessarily think
that it's the only engine.

I think it is a key
component of it.

I think there are other
elements of it as well.

I think we can find racism,
white supremacy embedded

in Western Christianity
and the iconography

of modern Western religion,
so that exists independent

to some extent of the
competitive marketplace.

There are other
elements as well.

But I think certainly the
group based competitiveness

that exists under a
market economy pits people

against one another based on
these racial and ethnic lines.

- The whole point of a race is

to separate winners from losers.

And that's what racism is, it
separates winners from losers

and once the Blacks had
been subjected to racism,

which was economic
based for 360 years,

and 98% of the resources
had been distributed

into the hands of the
dominant white society,

the race ended and since
the race has maldistruted

everything, all the power,
resource, privileges

and controls of all
levels of government,

into the hands of the
dominant white society,

the race was over.

So they look the "e" off the
end of race and stuck an ism.

Ism means let nothing change
between whites owning and

controlling everything and
Blacks only controlling nothing.

That's what racism is.

So anytime you see, if whites
say, those Blacks want this,

they want handouts, they
want food stamps, welfare,

give them nothing,
that's racism.

(dramatic music)

- [Joy] White privilege is
pretty much on face value

what it's saying.

It is something, a
system of advantage

that occurs as a
result of being white.

- The very real
material advantage
inherited over a period

of generations, whether we're
talking about educational

advantages or
wealth accumulation.

So there's also a material
component to it that plays

out in the economic world.

- [Joy] It is a system of
advantage based on race

and that privilege
is that advantage.

- [Announcer] With its
giant shopping center,

winding lanes named
for flower and trees,

it is fairly typical of
communities all over America

where families are
pursuing the American dream

to give their children
a better chance in life.

- [Joy] What are some
of the things that come,

the benefits with
your whiteness?

In other words if you
go into get a loan,

you don't immediately
think that your race

or your skin color is going
to work against you, right?

It doesn't even enter your mind.

You don't have to concern
yourself that when you're going

to the store, you pick up a
newspaper, there's a fundamental

assumption that whatever's
going to be in that newspaper

is going to be reflective and
representative of your people

and your culture.

You don't know that when
you open a newspaper,

unless of course, it's the
sports page, that it might

reflect you or your
people or that in fact,

anything that is reflective
of you or your people

would be considered positive.

See these are things that
are, for white people

are simply a privilege that
they don't have to think about.

- If people are
being discriminated
against in housing,

jobs, the criminal
justice system, education,

then white privilege is
the flip side of that.

Those who aren't
being disadvantaged
are being advantaged.

So it's as simple as saying
it's the opposite side,

the other side of the
discrimination coin.

On the other hand it is
this psychological piece

that's being able to go
through life with one less

thing to worry about.

Not worrying about
being seen as a problem,

being seen as a threat, as
a criminal, as a terrorist,

even though plenty of
criminals, plenty of terrorist,

plenty of threatening
individuals are white

but knowing that you won't
be pegged by the actions

of other whites as being
part of that group.

- And, I must say the new
racism is to act like there

is no racism.

And the new racism is to
put people of color between

the power structure
and Black folk.

And we better be on
the lookout for this.

The new racism is going
to come in brown face.

They're going to put the
Latino as an adversary

against Black folk
for resources.

They're gonna put the Asian
as an adversary against

Black people for resources.

They're gonna put the
East Indian, they're going

to put the Korean, they're
going to put the Mexican.

They're going to put the
Chinese as an adversary

against Black folk.

So Brown people are
going to be the new face

of white supremacy in
the Black community.

Look at our stores.

White folk would say, what
you getting mad at us?

We don't own all those
stores in your neighborhood,

that's Chinese folks and
Koreans and East Indians, Arabs.

The gas stations, not us.

But who financed them? who gave
them the small business loan

so they could come and set
up shop in my neighborhood?

Y'all did.

So what they do now to
hide the white supremacy,

they put Brown people in front.

So you can't blame
me, I'm not in it.

But the power that they have
to economically suppress

and oppress Black folk is
coming from white folks.

We gotta see this coming
and it's important

that we don't fall for
the multi-cultural agenda

because the multi-cultural
agenda is all about

confusing Black folk as
to who their allies are.

If we can get Black
folk to see the Latinos

as their allies, if
we can get Black folk

to see the Mexicans
and the poor white,

and the poor Korean
and the poor Vietnamese

and the poor Arab and
the poor East Indian

as their allies, we can
dominate them more effectively.

Because the people, they're
building coalitions with

are the people we're
financing to oppress them.

But because they see
them as a friend,

but because they see them
as an ally, they won't even

recognize the strategy that
we're putting in place.

So the new racism is
to make you identify

with people of color and
then finance the people

of color to replace you.

The new white man
wears a brown face.

(eerie music)

- Cognitive dissonance is
what occurs when a person

is holding on to contradictory
ideas simultaneously.

Ideas like we really honor
and uphold notions of freedom

and democracy.

- It's true you know.

- And at the same time
that this is being espoused

committing literal genocide
against Native people in America

and enslaving generations of
people of African descent.

That would be an
example of a conflict

that is going on that has
to be reconciled internally.

As we look at institutions.

As we look at how people
move through the world

in America.

In other words, how do you
espouse these ideas of freedom

and at the same time
you are demonstrably

doing something
opposite of that.

In fact, committing acts that
are no less than barbaric

as it relates to
oppressing people.

So you know, this
is the dissonance.

- Cognitive dissonance is
when you have been conditioned

to think feel and
behave in a certain way.

You've been socialized.

- I've got the busiest
job in the whole world,

American housewife.

- [Announcer] Gets teeth
much whiter, you can see.

(whistling)

- [Announcer] For whitening
clothes Blue Cheer is different.

So clean, so white.

- And all of a sudden,
everything you've been taught,

everything you believe has
suddenly come face to face

with the truth that
contradicts it.

And this truth is
so overwhelmingly
powerful that it's

hard for you to ignore it.

But in confronting this
truth, it upsets the internal

belief system upon which
a life has functioned.

It's when you've been
raised in a certain religion

or certain political
ideology and someone brings

you a morsel of truth that
shocks the hell out of your

internal intellectual
belief system.

And the truth they gave
you was so powerful that

it disrupted, it uprooted
almost everything you believe.

Your ego and your mind
automatically begins to try

to find a way to shoot down
the truth that you just heard.

But because your spirit is
telling you that this was

the truth, your ego and mind
is not doing a good enough

job to shoot down
that new information

that is making it hard for
you to remain a consistent

adherent to that which you were
previously told to believe.

- [Joy] So then, what does
one do to calm the mind

of the people whose ancestors
perpetrated these atrocities?

So you have to somehow
normalize the behavior.

In other words make somehow
the idea of American chattel

slavery for 339 years somehow
seem an okay thing to do.

Because imagine 339 years
of being told this is okay,

the problem is them.

The problem is we
were benefiting them

or we were helping them or
whatever rationalization

that you seek, so when
they get this information

now the jolt is, oh
no, that can't be true.

They do not want to accept
the reality that processing

that information
would bring about.

So white folks suffer from,
Dr. Jeffries was the first one

I heard use the term
like 30-40 years ago,

that white folks suffer
from cognitive dissonance.

That white folks have an
inability to process information

that showed Black folks
in a positive light.

Because to process that
information in that manner

would them show them in a
negative light that they

lived in over the centuries
in their relationship to us.

- [Joy] Then we have to take a
look at what affect then does

that have on those
who have oppressed.

Because again, they have
had to live with generations

of one denial and acceptance
of that dissonance.

And the way that they've
dealt with that is to one,

not just deny it but hide it.

To hide any truth associated
with what would cause

a conflict for you
to see the barbarism.

For you to see the levels
and involvement of people

in lynchings and behavior
of large groups of people,

generations of people around
mutilating and hanging

and beating people.

So what you have to do
to one, hide it or two,

justify it, produces
this kind of callousness

that you see, this open
defiance in the face

of a preponderance of evidence.

A preponderance of
evidence that says,

here it is before us.

- White supremacy, when you
talk about racism, same thing.

White folk have been socialized
that Africans are inferior,

all their life as part of
their internal intellectual

belief system.

All of a sudden they come to
face with a Black man or woman

whose more intelligent
than any white person,

they know or have ever met
or have ever read about.

Wow, for the first time I've
learned that Black people

are not inferior.

But I've been taught they were.

And coming form a culture of
white racism and supremacy

I have to rally my psychological
resources to come up

with and excuse or justification
for just how this Black

person was able to
be this intelligent

and they give you an example
of how the ego and the mind

will combat the
cognitive dissonance.

For example, it will
rationalize the intelligence

of the Black man.

It's what the white
person tells themselves.

There's always
exceptions to every rule.

Yes he was smart, yes,
he was very intelligent

but that's only because there's
exceptions to every rule.

Most Black folk
are not that smart.

Most Black folk are
not that intelligent.

You're not likely to come
across a lot of them.

And so it becomes
more easy to tolerate,

when you come up
with a justification.

When you come up
with a rationale

for why you are experiencing
information or circumstances

that are in direct contradiction
of what you've been taught

to believe.

- So their perspective is,
you must not be telling the

truth because we're benevolent,
we're good, we're kind.

Which is what had to
be fed for generations

in order for people to
somehow normalize again,

what results in being
pretty much barbaric

and horrific behavior.

- In the end it probably will
begin with mixing socially

and you will have, well I
think aim is mixed marriages

and becoming equal
with the whites.

It's the subject that's
talked about all the time.

And as far as
accepting them socially

if that's what you mean
I could never do that.

- In recent times we're
seeing all of the video taped

footage of police
use of deadly force.

The police use of
deadly force is not new.

But there is a preponderance
of evidence that is showing

it now which is producing
what, dissonance.

It says well this can't be
true, even in the face of it.

Even watching it, they go,
this simply can't be true.

Because now looking at, at
least 300 years of denial

that anything
wrong has happened.

That these people of African
descendant got anything

other than what they deserved.

And so now in the face of
the entire globe looking

at this and saying,
this is not okay.

And really it's sparking,
I would venture to say,

some incredible anxiety
and not only anxiety

but a large degree, a
large dose of paranoia.

For example in
Portland, Oregon in 2014

right in front of an
immigrant refugee organization

in Portland, Oregon.

There's a group of white
people standing with a banner,

which says, "Diversity
= White Genocide".

This is 2014.

So I think that those,
in terms of epigenetics,

we are looking at people who
are absolutely losing it.

The fear because again, they're
not looking at the behavior

that has been exhibited
towards people of color

as being anything other
than what, of course,

people of color deserve.

But now they're beginning
to see that not only is that

not true but you're not
going to be able to continue

to do this without the
entire world looking on

and holding you
accountable for that.

- The biggest thing
we lost in integration

was not the independent schools.

The biggest thing we
lost in integration

was not the independent
hospitals, the independent

businesses, the
independent companies.

The biggest things Black
people lost in integration

was their sense of
self and identity.

You can get the schools back,
you can get the hospitals

back, you can get the land back.

You can build an independent
community tomorrow.

We could have a Black
Wall Street tomorrow,

that's not the most
critical thing that we lost.

What we lost was our
belief that we could create

of our own without
any outside support.

Integration took away
from the Black man,

his self-determination.

While we were segregated,
we were self-determined.

We did for ourselves
because we had to.

Once desegregation happened,
once desegregation happened

and we mixed with white folks,

we lost that self-determination.

And on purpose, the United
States government engendered

in us a dependence on it for
our existence and livelihood.

- The social immigration
movement didn't give Black folks

anything that they
didn't already have.

What did the white
society give up?

What did they give up
for social integration?

Black folk, they gave
up their culture.

They gave up their communities,
they gave up their schools.

They gave up their
heritage, their leadership.

They gave up their sports teams.

Their little limited economy.

And what did whites give up?

They didn't give up anything.

So consequently there was not
value in social integration.

So the issue should have
never been social integration.

The issue shouldn't be
integration on the left

nor segregation on the right.

The issue should have
been aggregation.

Aggregations should mean
that Black folks should

have the right to come
together anytime, anyplace,

anywhere in their own
best self interest.

And if they want to socially
integrate, they can do it.

But first it should come
together and aggregate

and integrate with
their own people first.

- And so now they have
situation in America

where the white men don't have
to worry about Black folks

competing because we're
not going to compete

unless they help us.

You want us to open
up our own businesses?

You have to help us.

You want us to open
up our own schools?

Give us a charter school,
you have to help us.

See when the charter schools
came Black folks jumped

on it, what happened to
our independent school?

Charter school is
a handout, you see.

- If the public educational
system was run by us

it would be a fantastic
system, if we were in our right

minds and we were conscious
enough to use the tools

to train and tool our children

so they can bring the
intuitive wisdom and knowledge

inside of them, outside of them

to solve the basic
problems and to carry on

conflict intervention
in their environment

and in their personal lives.

If you can't control the
socialization process

of your people that's
where you get your values,

interests and principles and
for most part the socialization

process of our people
in America is handled

by the public school system.

So if you do not control
that then home school

is the next best way
for you to gain control

of the socialization
of your children

and to instill in them
the values, interests

and principles that
will allow them to plan

and sustain their
lives in a productive

and a healthy manner.

- And so we become
so dependent on him

for so long, we don't
think we can exist

without the European.

To me, that's what
desegregation did.

It killed the Black man's
memory of his ability

to produce independent
of his oppressor.

How can you justify
being financed

by the same capitalism
you're fighting?

If Black people are really
against white supremacy

how do you justify being
financed by the same entity

that you're fighting?

It's the contradiction
of the NAACP.

It's the contradiction
of the Urban League.

Why have these groups
only brought us so far?

They can't go no further
because the person

they're fighting is the
person that's financing

them and the hand that
pays always rules.

- Our children have been
lost in this illusion

of inclusion and it's
not real for them.

On the one hand they look
at these ideas of the rich

and the famous and
you have all that.

But then when they look
to their communities,

they see the same barriers,
racial barriers, redlining,

segregation, that's
always been there.

You see and there's an
anger, there's an angst

that's there because
they don't understand it.

- Dr. Jeffries again was the
first one, Dr. Leonard Jeffries

when he was working on the
curriculum of inclusion.

Most people misunderstood
what that was about.

The curriculum for
inclusion wasn't for us

to be included with white folks.

It was looking at the curriculum
of the state of New York

that had denied the
history of African people,

Native American people, Asiatic
people and Latino people

and to begin to include
those historical episodes

into the American
historical dialogue.

And so the term, illusion
of inclusion gets coined

because people was thinking
we felt we were included

in something that we
were not included in

and they were right
in that concept.

But they were just wrong
in how they were displaying

or replacing it because
the curriculum of inclusion

was not an illusion.

Matter of fact, the
curriculum of inclusion

was going to get rid of
the illusion of inclusion.

And so we didn't understand
that because no one

stopped to read the
curriculum and started

what they had designed
was to move Black folks

from being an episode
in white history

to being an epic where
white folks' history

was an episode.

- The illusion of inclusion is
to believe that this society

as it is set up includes you.

Even if you are peppered

or even if you have those
individuals that they will come

and they will bring
one or two people in.

That is not inclusion.

Inclusion is when the
masses of people are part

of the everyday affairs
of whatever it is,

the society, the country,
the nation, whatever it is.

And it is obvious that from
the moment that African people

were brought here, the
only place for them

was to be free labor.

They had no place
for African people

and they created a structure
and a society that kept

these individuals on the
outside of everything.

They even have to be buried
outside of the society proper

itself so to speak.

And so for us as a people to
think that we are included

and the bottom line is this
society as we are seeing

is falling.

- Only time Black folk
have ever been fully Black

occur between about
1915 and 1935-38,

that general time period.

That's when W.E. DuBois
started talking about,

for Blacks to develop an
economic system or structure.

And practice group politics.

Marcus Garvey came in talking
about Black economics.

- That's why when Marcus
Garvey said we have to raise

our children to be
scientists par excellence.

He wasn't talking
about the microscope.

He wasn't talking
about the lab rat.

He wasn't talking
about the science.

Garvey was visionary.

Garvey was saying reduce
your diet to a science.

Reduce white supremacy
to a science.

Reduce money to a science and
you could always control it.

- Carter G. Woodson in
1927 started talking

about Black education.

Elijah Muhammad started
talking about Black religion.

But that was too much blackness
for certain individuals

in our society like the
Black newspaper editors

and the Black civil
rights organizations

and a lot of the
Black ministers.

So they wanted to get away
from some of that blackness.

And the same time Black
folk was very vulnerable

because they weren't
permitted to have any weapons

or tools to arm themselves.

So they couldn't put up
any steep resistance,

either in Rosewood or
Wilmington or Greenwood.

So they didn't have the tools
or resources to fight back

or protect themselves
or their communities

or their families.

- Civil rights under this
term called the color of law.

The color of law was said
appearance to be real

but it's not real.

So really they give you
the illusion that it's real

and they can pull
it at any will.

People have to understand
this is when you start

studying the law.

Once you start studying
the law and understand

that the Civil Rights Act,
which means you're acting

something out, not
necessarily that it's real.

What happens is under
the color of law,

which appears to be
lawful but it's not.

So they gave that
to so-called Blacks.

They gave it to the
hierarchy to do what?

To teach it to the lower people.

You follow me?

This is why they don't mention
anything about human rights.

Human rights are dealing with
human issues, human beings.

Civil rights can be me
throwing that chair violating

that chair right there,
that's a civil rights act.

I can claim that.

Civil rights is dealing
with inanimate objects,

that's what's going on.

- They can think
the Black issue.

Putting other so-called
minorities, whether it's women

or whether it's Hispanics
or whether it's gays.

We're trying to put other
people into this category

where it's no longer just
Blacks but it's all people

who are oppressed and so like
it's we don't necessarily

have that stage that we
used to where we can speak

on just Black issues.

- Historically Black
Colleges, they're responsible

for half the Black professionals
we have in this country.

Half the Black lawyers,
half the Black doctors,

half the Black Masters
Degree and Credentialed

African-Americans come from
historically Black Colleges.

Those colleges have
taught them information.

They have taught them how
to see certain things.

Some of the colleges have
even taught them how to think

but the question follows,

when we look at the African
Americans who graduate

from historically
Black colleges.

And I'm saying Historically
Black versus white schools

because we're not too
interested in what they do.

The education that our people
receive at historically

Black college, did it
appropriately socialize them

to be functional
supportive members

of the African
American community?

Most of us would
have to say, hell no.

When they graduate, they
move into white suburbs.

Then they graduate
they find white women.

When they graduate they put
their money in white banks,

they don't try to
build Black banks.

So has the Historically
Black college successfully

socialized its Black graduates?

No it has not.

Let's look at the other side.

Traditionally white colleges,
do they successfully socialize

white children?

Hell yes.

When white folks graduate
from white colleges,

they know how white
supremacy operates,

they know how to
function within it.

They know how to be supporting
contributing members

of the various
institutions in society,

white colleges do an
excellent job socializing

white students.

Black colleges don't
do as good as a job,

socializing Black children.

They have a degree,
they have an education.

They know how to
think but they are not

functional members of
the Black community.

Socialization, when the
school properly socializes

the children, they
become functional members

of the Black community.

They come out looking to
build the supermarket.

They come out looking
to start a family

with a Black woman
or a Black man.

They come out looking to build
independent Black schools,

they come out looking to open
up Black economic systems

and vehicles.

If they were
appropriately socialized.

We're just teaching.

We're not socializing.

- To have a community, you
must have three elements.

You must have a wholly
independent economic structure.

You must have a code of conduct.

And you must have political
representation that speaks

foremost and firstly
for your people.

We don't have any
of those things.

We don't have Black economy
any place in America.

No, there's no Black
neighborhood with
a Black economy.

Because in the Black
economy that's where you,

in the Black community
rather, that's where

you start your economy, your
tax base, your heritage,

your history, your
employment opportunities and

business opportunities and
products services and goods.

There's no place Blacks
have any of those things

stored up, so they have
to depend on other people

to go out and provide
them with those services

and goods and those
opportunities.

That's why you have such a
high Black unemployment rate.

Because Blacks lack the
capability of hiring

their own people.

- I need economic opportunity.

If you're not providing
economic opportunity for people,

you're not relevant.

You are not relevant.

If you're not preparing them
for economic opportunity

or providing the
economic opportunity,
you're not relevant.

Think about it, when
you deal with economics,

you deal with every
aspect of life.

That's how you keep a
home, that's how you take

care of a family, that's how
you take care of yourself,

that's how you stay
happy and healthy knowing

that I'm able to provide
for my basic needs

going forward.

When you have a couple
dollars in your pocket,

you can treat your
mom to dinner.

You can help your father out.

You can look out for
your nieces and nephews.

You keep the family together.

You see?

You have to talk about money.

- And so it's actually going
to be more Blacks in prison

because the Black community
is going to break down.

They have no jobs, they have
no business opportunities.

The school system has
become dysfunctional.

Once they become dysfunctional,
they become disheartened,

they turn to drugs.

They gonna create what you
call an underground economy,

which means selling drugs,
selling hot materials.

Stealing cars, robbing gas
stations anything to be able

to survive.

You see there's only three
things that a given human being

can do to earn a living.

Either have a job or
business at the top.

They don't have that they
go down to the second level.

They go down to
the second level,

which is welfare and foodstamps.

If they can't get on there
because conservatives

cut out all the public
assistance programs

then they go to the third level.

Third level means you steal.

They must either do an
elaboration or combination

or sophistication of
either having a job,

going on welfare or they steal.

Either one of those things.

So consequently if you
don't have businesses

in a community and you have
no jobs in the community.

If you can't get
public assistance,
you're going to steal.

Because Black folks
want to survive.

- How we going to talk about

Black power without
Black dollar?

There is no Black power
without the Black dollar.

If you talking Black power
without Black dollar,

you're a hypocrite.

The power is based
on the dollar.

The Black power grows out
of the financial structure

of the community.

White power, why do
white people have power?

Access to capital.

They build the schools,
they build the banks,

they build the roads,
they build the churches,

they build the ships,
they build the airplanes.

White power is based
on the white dollar.

Chinese, Koreans in
a Black neighborhood.

How you got Korean
power in the ghetto,

because they own the
mom and pop stops.

The Korean dollar
equals Korean power.

That's true for every group.

East Indians hotel industry,
Days Inn, in particular,

they cornering the
hotel industry.

East Indian power is based
on the East Indian dollar.

Then you come the Black folks.

Now check this out, East
Indian the basis of the power

is the dollar.

Anglo-Saxon, the basis of
the power is the dollar.

Arab basis of the
power is the dollar.

Jew, basis of the
power is the dollar.

Then you come the Black
folk, bases of the power

is reading and information.

- The first way in which they
came into the world of color

and when I'm saying, they,
I'm speaking of Eurasians

as they invaded the
lands of Africa and India

and Southern China.

And as they took over the
forms of the spiritual systems

one of the things that had
to happen was to change

the image because
whoever is your God,

whoever you image as your
God is going to be the image

that you worship, honor
and respect at all costs.

And since the early peoples,
such as the Kemites,

such as the inner African
peoples, specifically

we're talking about.

Their image of a creator
was not anthropomorphic.

In other words it was
not a living human being.

It was not looked up as someone
who lived on the planet.

It was someone that was internal

and that they had a story

and that story basically was
steep deep inside what we call

the Ausarian Drama.

And this Ausarian
Drama is the template.

It is the outline for all
fate systems worldwide.

When the Eurasians
came out of the ice

and when they came
upon the southern lands

and was introduced
to this story,

they then took that story
and they began to change the

complexions of the neteru.

They began to change the
complexions of those entities

that were respected,
honored and revered.

And what they did is
they put in those places,

people that look like them
and out of having those images

they then returned that
fate system to the people

that they were attempting to
control and out of that came

our experience that
we're looking at today.

In order to understand the
importance of white Jesus

or any image or symbol to
the mind of any person,

you have to understand
subconscious
archetypal programming.

Our minds work on subconscious
archetypal programming.

Every memory we have is stored
in our mind as a symbol,

as an archetype.

This is precisely why
our ancestors in Kemet

made an entire language
out of symbols.

People say, why did they
go through the difficultly

and complexity and cumbersome
process of creating

a whole system of
communication based on symbols?

Because they knew
somehow in their genius,

well we didn't learn
until centuries later

that the mind stores
everything as a symbol.

- There is a problem
in creating an image

that you begin to
believe actually exists.

It's very dangerous.

The image of spirituality
claims that all of us

are children of the
creator and there is no one

in a place that was
higher than anyone else.

So the image of that
Eurasian Jesus or that God

or any symbol that would
make another human being

not be able to identify
it from a perspective

of its physicality,
of the way it looks

is dangerous because it
creates a very special club

for only people
who look like that.

- The brain is a symbol
storing associating

and producing machine.

So when you show a child a
picture of a white Jesus.

Constantly, repetitively,
a Black child in particular

whose already being bombarded
with negative propaganda

that suggests that Europeans
are more intelligent

that African people.

The brain, being an
associating and a

generating symbol machine
will automatically link

this picture to the information

that I'm being programmed with.

I'm being told white
folks are superior.

I'm being told God is white.

If God is white and white
people are superior,

then why are Black people so
upset about white supremacy?

Because God, the
white man naturally

and quite honestly made
white people in his image.

White people are
here to control us

because they are God's people.

- And so when you are in an Ice
Age and you are experiencing

very harsh climate and
weather, your God can only be

as great as your perception
of the nature around you.

And so when you are in
a very harsh climate.

When you are in a climate
that creates the type

of background that makes you
have to gnash your teeth,

makes you envious and
makes you jealous.

Then the image that you
have of your creator

because of the nature that
is in your environment

is going to be the creator that
you create for other people.

When you wish to dominate them
and when you wish to control

them, you're going to take
that image and you're going

so supplant it over
what they already had.

Dr. Clarke said Europeans
colonized the image of God.

What they did was even more
than colonize the image of God.

They created an image of God

by creating God in
the European's image.

And then through tyranny,
murder, mayhem and genocide,

forced the African world

to accept this
European image of God.

And so when you're worshiping
God, you're worshiping

the European because the
only image you got of God

is of the European and so
you worshiping your murder.

You're worshiping your rapist.

You're worshiping your robber.

You're worshiping
your genocider.

And in essence,
you are in the name

of God committing suicide,
spiritual suicide,

cultural suicide.

And so the European
has been very strategic

in how they've done this
but they've don't it all

at the tip of a sword
and the barrel of a gun.

They didn't do this
through persuasion.

They did this through
murder, mayhem and genocide.

In this movie, "The Son of God."

They had all this extra footage
from the Bible documentary

and it shows a white guy.

And they said that they want
this move to be the images

that people will see when
they close their eyes

and imagine God.

Now, nobody whose truthful
can tell you what God looks

like because nobody
has ever seen God.

And one of the things that
I appreciate about Islam

is that they don't
allow any images of God.

Because they know no
person could see God.

But, what you have on
the part of Europeans

is the Europeanization
of African spirituality

which they converted
into religion.

And then they took
African personalities

and removed their melanin,
presented them as Europeans

in order to control the
image of God that people saw

when they pray, so
that's powerful.

- If that central figure
of your faith system

does not look like you and
it looks like another person,

then if you love God and
respect God and honor God

and God is the most
important thing in your life,

then the people that look
like that God are also

going to be very important
to you and more important

than you are to yourself.

So it is not surprising that
you would conduct yourself

the way in which you
would in reality because

why should you not.

It would be natural for
you not to honor yourself

and your people if the God
you worship doesn't look

like you?

- When we're talking about
white Jesus archetype.

If Jesus is white, then it
makes sense why white people

are in control because they
are also blessed with the same

color as God.

So that white Jesus image,
I believe has been one

of the most psychological
devastating and destructive

images, concepts, strategies,
weapons that have been

reaped upon Black folk.

Because it's still with us.

You talk about psychological
residuals of slavery,

whenever I travel the world,
I'm likely to run into

a white Jesus.

We were in Ghana last summer.

Life sized statues of white
Jesus in a blue Black country.

The socialization, the
indoctrination, the subconscious

archetypal programming.

- When you consider the
fact that 9/10 of the people

on this planet are
people of color.

People classified as Europeans,
white people are a minority.

So why is it that all the
images of God, son of God,

all the angels are all white

if they are minority
people on the planet?

So what we're dealing
with is the greatest form

of brainwashing ever imagined
as a means of controlling

a people from the inside out.

- Remember now, the CIA and
the FBI employs hundreds

of psychologists.

We fail to recognize this
but propaganda is one of the

most important institutions
of any government.

Your ability to control
the thinking of the masses

is critical to you
controlling the masses.

You want to control Black
folk, you have to control

Black people's thinking.

So the CIA, the FBI, the
United States government,

every corporation employs
psychologists to help get past

the natural defense
mechanisms of the mind

and send a message straight
to the subconscious

so they're very very
efficient at manipulating

people's emotions in order
to control their thinking.

The church does it.

The pastor is a
master propagandist.

He manipulates your emotions
in order to make you more loyal

to his church.

It's very difficult for people
to change their beliefs.

That's why it's very
important for us to raise

our children and socialize them

and educate them appropriately
with the right beliefs

because whatever those
children believe by the time

they're 12-years-old,
they're not likely to change

it again.

If they believe that
Jesus was white,

they're not likely to
change it again no matter

how much information
you give them.

- Well the African people
have to begin to understand

that if you return to an
African way of understanding

and knowing reality, you will
get over the fear of death

because the fear of death is
the only tool the European has

to persuade you to
accept his reality,

which is your non-reality.

And his reality, which
is your non-reality is a

configuration of information
that is transmitted

to your mind that determines
how you make decisions

and how you make judgements
and how you make plans

for your future.

If your judgements and
decisions and plans are based

on a misorganization
of information,

and deliberate
deconstruction of information

then there's no plan or
decisions you can make

on your behalf that would
be for your benefit.

- So what you have to
develop is an understanding

of what it is that
you need to worship.

And so we have got to look
now as to how we're going

to approach this discussion.

And how we're going
to look at scripture.

And how we're going to
look at the ancient texts

and develop a way in which
we can create a supreme being

that is within each
and every one of us

to understand that each
and everyone of us is God,

having a human experience.

When we look at history, as
we move through the cosmic

calendar and as we move
through the different forms

of the human family.

As we moved up the Hapi
Valley and as we moved

into the technological
age of our ancestors,

in places such as
today's Sudan and Kemet.

The technology that we
brought to the world

in Africa at this
time, what we did.

We also realize that
when the Ice Age melted

and Africans that had
de-pigmented themselves

into who we today call
Eurasians began to come down

and they began to
attack us, we began

to move West across the
northern part of Africa

and what we began
to do according to
Dr. Cheikh Anta Diop

is that we brought that
technology, the pyramid-building

technology, the
temple-building technology,

the spiritual
manifestation technology.

The arts, the sciences,
the language, the foods.

We brought that technology
with us as we started

to move across North
Africa and as we started

to move into West Africa
and we created the peoples

that we today call Nigerians.

We created the people we
call today the Ghanaians.

We created the people who
are from Togo and Dahomey.

We created a West
African civilization
from the Nile Valley

and so the technology
of the pyramid-builders

started to travel west
all the way to Senegal.

When Europe attacked
Africa post 1492 and began

to steal Africans from
Senegal, from Ghana,

from Nigeria, from Congo.

They were stealing, I
call them the ascendants,

not the descendants but
you are the ascendants

of the pyramid-builders.

We don't know this, nobody
tells us this information.

So the pyramid-builder
DNA is in those who were

enslaved and brought to America.

But when these Africans
were so-called free,

they then dispersed
across the country

and they were
placed in projects.

So the DNA that came to
America and went into

the plantation-dweller is
now in the project people

who live in projects.

So from pyramid to
plantation to project.

But we not done yet.

Because now that same DNA,
that came from the pyramids

that went on the plantation
that resides in the project

is now moving towards the
Promised Land. (echoing)

- The history of hip-hop
parallels in many ways

the history of the desegregation
movement in America.

When Black folk were
isolated from white people,

we were able to
build upon ourselves

and we were successful doing it.

When hip-hop was isolated
from the mainstream music

corporations, it was successful.

And able to build on its own.

But just like with integration,
when the white folks

stepped to the hip-hop
artists and managers

and said guess what, you
don't have to be independent

anymore, we're going to finance
you, we're going to bring

you into Sony.

We're going to bring
you into Arista.

We're going to bring
you into Universal.

We're going to bring
you into Interscope.

It was the beginning of the end.

Because whenever you
integrate Black power,

you automatically weaken it,
you change the direction,

you change the function.

- The music in and of itself
is a product of a Black

experience in the Black lexicon.

Blacks have a genius, a
talent for creating music,

dance and slang and dress.

That is a gift and a talent.

All the music in this
country originated

out of the blackness and culture
and the Black experience.

I don't care whether you go
back to country and Western

or hillbilly, big band
sounds, you talk about jazz,

the blues, Dixieland.

Whether you talk about
nowadays hip-hop, it all came

out of the blackness.

They had some
semi-control over it

up until the Civil
Rights Movement.

What would allow whites
to get ahold of your music

was integration.

See prior to that white
folks were always attracted

to Black music but
because of segregation

and the barriers of segregation,
whites couldn't get to it.

- The contradiction
of the hip-hop artist,

is the same contradiction
of the Black leader

and revolutionary and that
is if you really valued

this as an art form, if you
really valued the independent

Black community, why
did you integrate it?

When you integrated it, you
gave control over your cultural

product to your oppressor.

Who makes more money off
your cultural product

than you do.

Keep in mind music is America's

second largest export industry.

That people have to take
a minute to fathom exactly

what that means.

America makes more
money off of music,

than anything else
except one other product

and that's probably
intellectual property.

So, when you look at
the power of Black music

and the fact that it is
fueling America's economy

and not doing nothing
for the Black community,

we have to look at how the
hip-hop artist has betrayed

the hood.

- Up until integration whites
had a very difficult time

getting to Black music.

They used to listen to it
and try to adopt is as much,

they used to provide
what they call a cover.

Which means any music
that Black folks produced.

If Count Basie produced some
music they'd have whites

producing the music,
big band sounds.

1950s, Black music was
called, well boogie woogie,

up until the late 40s,
then rhythm and blues.

And then by the 1950s
with integration

and the Supreme Court
decision about desegregation,

it gave people like Elvis
Presley and Carl Perkins

and Bill Haley and the Comets
to get access to Black music

because now they could come
into the Black community

and they could sort of
interact with Blacks.

The Black song writers
and Black musicians

and so what they did to
keep down the outright

theft of Black music or
shake, rattle and roll.

They started calling
it rock n' roll.

Rhythm and blues
became rock n' roll.

- How do we know this?

Where's the science behind this?

White people don't share
power with Black folks.

I'm going to say it again
for my hip-hop artists,

white people don't share
power with Black folks.

So the minute you let
white folks into hip-hop

they were coming to control it.

The minute you let
white folks into voodoo,

they were coming to control it.

You see that?

The minute you let white
folks into African drumming,

they're coming to control it.

Let's look at jazz.

You go to the average
jazz orchestra today.

I was at one Avenue of the
Arts, South Philadelphia

state of the art.

I'm at a jazz orchestra,
this is a Black art form,

and not a single person
on the orchestra,

it was nearly 100, not a
single person on the orchestra

was Black but
guess what you had?

Black people complaining.

Why are you complaining?

You're the one who said, this
was not a Black art form.

You said everybody can have it.

You're the one who gave
it out there to the world

and now you want to get mad
when they take it from you.

Crazy.

- There was drum and bugle
corps all over the place,

almost every city had them.

They disappeared
within a decade.

There were no more
drum and bugle corps.

There were hundreds of
them and then suddenly

there was none.

They started taking the
music out of the schools

and stopped teaching
inner city kids music.

Then they started moving
the movie theaters

out of the Black community,
you could only go to movie

theaters in white communities.

And then they went
into the music thing

and we started getting
this crossover music.

Late 60s, early 70s.

All the sudden Hall and
Oats, white boys sounding

like Black folks.

Black folks sounding
like white folks.

And in the midst of that
attack on Black youth

because they understood that
90% of the people following

Martin Luther King, most of
their marches were Black youth.

Same thing with those who
were following Malcolm X

and the Nation of Islam.

The same thing
with who was making

up the Black Panther Party

and so the thrust was
directed at destroying

the Black youth before
he or she could become

Black adult of consciousness
that would take action.

It is out of that genocidal
process, socioeconomic

and political that arose
this spiritual phenomena

called hip-hop.

- I told you before
what Europeans do

is they watch everything.

They are in control
of the A&R, the radio,

the program directors
in the radio station.

And so they said, look
we gotta stop this.

Let's offer these dudes
money, you follow me?

Let's offer these dudes a dream.

And I always share
this with everybody

and I say your talent
is not based on,

your longevity is not
based on your talent,

it's based on your character.

You see what I'm saying, it's
not based on your talent,

it's based on your
character, your longevity.

So hip-hop plays a very big
part and they saw that again.

Again, if we're beefing
with one another,

what happens, he comes
in at your weakest point

and say now, we gonna
give him this money.

Now we're going to
take his attention away

from the consciousness
and switch it,

let's switch it over here.

- And now whites gonna have to
come in and take over hip-hop

and take over and
try to be rappers.

Whites have been taking
over Black music,

readjusting Black music.

I don't care care what they
call it from Al Jolsons

or what we call the old
Black face makeup on stages

and vaudeville all the
way up to Elvis Presley.

They've always taken Black
music and exploited it

and misused it, renamed it
and called it their music.

- We don't like to identify the
gatekeepers of our progress,

the ones who are
financed by white folks,

controlled by white
folk, put on TV.

We don't like to identify them
because they've been given

authority by the white man.

So to speak out against them
means he has the leverage

given to him by the
oppressor to crush you.

So we don't like to
expose the Jesse Jacksons,

we don't like to
expose the Al Sharptons

because they have power
to get things done for us.

Not as a people but as a person.

They also have the
person to silence us.

So people tend not to speak
out against the gatekeepers,

the sellouts.

Same thing in hip-hop.

The hardcore grassroots
revolutionary artists,

who have never compromised
their music, many of them

are still a bit too afraid
to call out the gatekeepers.

If you upset them, they
can destroy your career.

And so just like with
the Black community,

the power structure puts
certain people in place

to control negative criticism.

The same thing is in hip-hop.

- So Black music will be
destined to become white music

until Black folks
rebuild their communities

and put up some kind
of a cultural defense

to make sure people
cannot misuse their music

by building their own
vertical industries.

If you build your own
vertical industries,

you can control your
culture and your music.

- We said hip-hop
was for everybody.

This is not a Black thing.

This ain't just
for Black people.

Hip-hop is for anybody.

Hip-hop is for Latinos.

Hip-hop is for Asians.

Hip-hop is for Arabs.

Hip-hop is for white folks.

Look at this now.

This is what rappers
will tell you.

This is not just
about Black folk.

In other words,
we don't own this.

You don't own it.

Do you know what you're saying?

You're giving every
corporation and every culture

on the planet, the
right to colonize

and exploit your
cultural product.

Who does that?

Who voluntarily gives up
their cultural products

to be identified
with with anyone

throughout the world.

We're the only
people who do that.

Whose fault was it?

Ours.

We made it comfortable
for white folk

to feel that they can colonize
and incorporate hip-hop.

Don't blame the white
man, blame yourself.

(drum music)

(fire crackling)

- In going back into the
history, you can trace

this experience right back
into Africa to the jeli,

the storyteller.

The historian of the
community that was dropping

knowledge and wisdom
on the community,

on the children, reminding
them of their divine

purpose in life and what
it was they had to do.

You have all of these
different things going on

and you have this
hip-hop concept.

You have this idea
of hip and hop.

- [Sabir] Hip-hop first
of all actually comes from

the ancient tribe in West
Africa called the Wolof tribe.

The Wolof tribe is where
the word hip comes from.

And the word hip means
to open one's eyes.

Hop is a German word.

And so when you understand
where hip-hop really originated

from, we always taught that.

We taught in a circle
when you have people

that was beating the
drums in the drums.

The circle which we
call today, the cipher.

So hip-hop has always been here.

It's rock n' roll, it's
jazz, it's R&B all of it.

- The rebirth, the
idea that we're going

to make things happen

and then you mix words
with music and now let's

go back to Africa.

Let's go back to the jeli.

Let's go back to the
story of telling the story

to our people with the drums
playing in the background

and the master teacher
dropping the knowledge

and the wisdom.

And so from there you have
Africans begin captured,

enslaved, tortured
and brought to America

and on the plantations
they're singing the spiritual

hoping to get back in.

You have this dynamic music
that Africans are creating.

They have the banjo and
they're playing their bodies,

the hambone.

You have that growing and
then out of the spiritual,

you have the blues
speaking of the conditions

they find themself in.

And then from the blues you
add a little bit of rhythm.

And you get the
rhythm and blues.

- Just as the ancestor
spirits and the God divine

produced Noble Drew Ali and
Elijah Muhammad and Malcolm X

and Father Divine and
Daddy Grace and Papa Jones

and all the others that makes
us a significant difference

between 1929 and
1955 in America.

That same African
spiritual consciousness

produced those who positively
used hip-hop to free us

from white mental tyranny.

Especially after the death
of Dr. Martin Luther King.

It would evolve to being
described as hip-hop

in the early 70s, when the
tyranny of white supremacy

that oversaw the
killing of Medgar Evers,

blowing up our little girls
in the church in Birmingham.

The murder of Dr. Martin
Luther King, the murder

of Malcolm X, the
imprisonment and the beating

of Fannie Lou Hamer, the raping.

All of these ugly genocidal
things that the society

had done against us, the
murder of a Fred Hampton,

the murder of Mark Clark,
members of the Black Panther

Party, the imprisonment
of members of the Black

Liberation Army, etc.

All of this is happening
between 1969, 1968 and 1975.

Well it was within
that period of time

that what we call hip-hop
emerges as a response

from the Black youth to white
state violence and tyranny.

Directed at that
population, at the same time

that this murder, mayhem
directed at that population

was happening.

The federal government
of the United States

led by General Secord,
led by Oliver North

and enabled by Bill Clinton,
who was then the governor

of Arkansas who was allowing
the drugs to be flowing

into the Arkansas
National Guard base,

that's when the crack
attack by the government

of the United States came on
our inner city communities.

And so it is the
response to this tyranny,

and even at the most local level
there were other tyrannical

cultural things taking place.

- And out of this you're gonna
have this movement of people.

You have the dynamics of the
civil and the human rights

movement, you're gonna have
this music, these words

that are raising up
our consciousness.

And then what's going
to happen is the folk

are going to decide we
need to exclude them

from this process

but the young brothers are
not gonna let that happen.

So you're going to have
brothers like Kool Herc

having house parties
in the Bronx.

- At the time that the
African-American cultural

phenomenon that we call
hip-hop came into play,

and understand I'm saying
the African, African-American

cultural phenomenon called
hip-hop comes into play.

It had been there before
because long before Kool Herc

there were others who
was spinning the records

and instead of
having the bass box,

they were using the
snare drum and the bass.

- Young brothers and
sisters, such as Kool Herc

is gonna create a
dynamic right in there,

where they're gonna
have house parties

and these house parties
is gonna have the rapper.

And you're gonna have the
person doing the turntable

or you're gonna have the birth
of the Grandmaster Flashes

and the Afrika Bambaataas.

You're going to have this
birth of music and it is going

to start being given birth
from the Black Panther Party

and from the street
organizations that
are going to unite

themselves in the Bronx
and they're going to call

themselves the Zulu Nation.

And this is going to be
the birth of the music

that we are now experiencing.

- So the phenomena we got
to be careful not to do

our history the way white
people do their history.

We have to tell the
truth about our history

and we don't have to
lie about our history.

So even before Kool Herc
became the one that exploded

on the scene but
before Kool Herc,

there were others doing it.

There were others doing
it and they were going

from city to city, doing this.

There wasn't anybody
calling it then,

in the 60s, early 60s, no
one was calling this hip-hop.

This was the divine
African ancestral spirit

manifesting though them
a resistance movement

to go up against this
force that was too big

to handle with a gun.

And until we look back
and not lie to ourselves

of where hip-hop came from.

The hairstyles were were
wearing were hairstyles

that hadn't been seen
anywhere except for Africa

in the 1950s.

How did we know to wear it
on the streets of Harlem?

The rhythms and the
beats we were using

was right out of African
drum rhythms that we had

never heard before.

That's ancestors, that's
spirit, that's God.

That's where hip-hop came from.

- Now who were the
angels of hip-hop?

The Kool Herc, the Afrika
Bambaataa, Fab Five Freddie.

These brothers and
the sisters, Latifah

and so many others,
they were the angels.

They were the ones
given the assignment.

So don't give yourself
credit for something

without giving the
credit where it was due.

That this things
regurgitated out of your deep

super-subconscious at the
behest of the ancestors

and the divine.

And when you see it in
that African context,

you'll understand
the force of hip-hop.

If you're gonna reduce
hip-hop to the intellect

to some backwards negroes
who had no African conscious

or spiritual foundation.

Then you are doing
a disservice to it.

- But we all have to contribute.

And if I'm not doing
my work to inform

and to educate then how
we articulate in music

or art or spoken word or
whatever it is you're using,

then we can only expect that
what's going to come out

is what people have been
exposed to and so the more

expose the knowledge, the
more we expose the truth,

the more those in,
particularly hip-hop itself,

will have the power to
pull us up from the depths

of what now appears to
be a very very scary

and profoundly tragic direction.

- So we gotta get back
to the young people

and let them know, look, if you
are part of a spinning wheel

that is headed towards
total emancipation,

total liberation of
the African mind.

- So I think today's
youth are no different

than any other youth
in any other time,

they are expressing,
their feelings, thoughts

and experience through a
medium that's a bit different

in terms of the music
and poetry and art.

But they are speaking it
nonetheless and inevitably

the more we educate
ourselves about who we are,

the more we will see
reflected in those art forms

what is necessary for us
to retrieve a sense of who

we are, our dignity and
our ultimate healing.

- You know it's interesting
about the word illuminati

and how it has really caught
on with the younger generation

and the way in which
the word is being used

and when we look at
the origin of the word

and when we look at
the concept of it,

when we're dealing
with the illuminati.

We're not dealing necessarily
with an organization.

We're dealing with
a group of people,

who had sat at the feet of
Africans who we call the Moors.

As the years went on,
the people caught on.

The peoples of Spain and
parts of France and Europe

caught on to this
new way of living.

- And this is another reason
why masonry for the most part

is given a negative connotation.

So that people don't
really examine its origin

or what's really behind it, etc.

Also why many things
are just told in sign,

symbol and allegorical stories.

This is to keep the
people disconnected.

But it also
demonstrates the fact

that people don't talk about
it, represents the fact

of them deliberately
avoiding it.

And that they're
avoiding it is without,

is not without circumstance,
not without motive.

- It's important
for us to understand

that the word illuminati
represented a group

of scientists that sat
at the feet of Africans

and studied the wisdom
of Africa, of Kemet,

of the ancient wisdom of
the science of West Africa,

Northwest Africa, Central
Africa, Southern Africa.

And they brought it into Europe.

All of these individuals
studied at the feet of Africans.

And African-inspired scholars
but because of the rise

of the church, they
became outlaws.

They pushed the idea of
science and the church

did everything they could
to destroy the fabric

of bringing that
knowledge into Europe

and so these illumined
ones had to go underground.

And they became an
underground society

that perpetuated the
study of the souls science

of ancient Kemet.

- Illuminati means
to illuminate.

The ones that are
afraid of the light

are the ones that
don't have the light.

See what I'm saying?

The ones that don't have
the light are the ones

that are afraid of the light.

If you have the light,
you let your light shine.

Illuminati means to illuminate.

So you illuminate the ones
that walking in darkness

and that other people,
that's our people's problem.

They're walking in
darkness basically.

- And when we understand
this, we can see

that the structures that we
see today from the Empire State

Building, from the so-called
Washington Monument,

to Cleopatra's Needle.

When you go into the museums
and you see the obelisks

or what the Africans
call the tekhenu.

You can see these structures
even when you look

at the structures and the
symbols of the major religions,

you will see that they
came all out of Africa.

Whether it is the crescent
moon and stars of Islam.

Whether it is the inverted
pyramids that was known

to the ancient world
as the Star of Ast.

Now known as the Star
of David, scared symbol.

Whether we are dealing with
a cross, we are dealing

with African symbols.

- As a teacher I have a
lot of students that come

to me and say, Ms. Browder
you're wearing the evil eye,

that's the illuminati symbol.

I said, no, this is the
ancient Kemetic symbol

that existed thousands
and thousands of years

before any concept of
illuminati as it relates

to the European or Caucasian.

So again it goes back to
the whole idea of symbolism

that empowers you.

When you're looking
at the Eye of Horus,

you're symbolically talking
about the activation

of the pineal gland,
activation of the chakras, etc.

So the activation of
the chakras is referred

to as Nirvana, the
Ascension, Kundalini, etc.

And you have to keep in
mind, one of the things

that Europeans have always
done has been to steal

our legacy or culture.

Now, because they have
a negative agenda,

you understand with
Adam Weishaupt, etc.

And they set up the
illuminati, that's really

they're taking the honor of
ancient Asiatic African culture,

of spiritual or what you would
call the body development

and the activation of the
pineal gland and put a,

what you call, a
negative spin on it.

- They were talking about trying
to gain power and control.

Every generation and every
community there's some

trying to gain
power and control.

The illuminati is nothing
more in the general sense

than white people trying to
maintain power and control

over the wealth in
America and the world.

And music produces
trillions of dollars a year.

And somebody wants to
control those monies

and direct it to their
community's interest

and not your, your meaning the
Black community's interest.

Who's going to get the
rewards and the capital

from the music that's
being produced out

of the consciousness of Black
people across the world.

And they've played us for
almost a century now in regards

to our music.

And we have enriched their
communities beyond measure.

And yet, we still try
to create, look at them

in some box call illuminati.

See them for what they are.

- Keep in mind that
for persons to rule

and to really be capable
of exercising such powers,

they must know the real
truth of the human condition.

Thus, this is again, why
all persons in positions

of power must be masons.

It's the lawyers, it's the
judges, it's the politicians,

it's the school teachers,
it's the union head,

it's the doctors.

They're in complicit with one
another around the subjugation

of Black people, just
as they were in slavery.

It wasn't a group of little
white folks on the corner

doing slavery, it was the
entire white population

involved in the process
at different levels

and that's the same thing today.

With using our music as
another form of enslavement

and knowing that music
creates human beings,

meaning that music creates,
the consciousness creates

the information formulation
that human beings

use to ake decisions.

And so by controlling the
lyrics, by controlling

the dialogue in the music
that our psyche absorbs

because it comes in a
vehicle of African rhythms,

they're able to still
subjugate us as they did

psychically in slavery.

And hip-hop freed us
from a lot of that.

And it's still freeing
us but the brothers

and sisters in the hip-hop
industry must elevate

their consciousness so
they don't get bamboozled

and fooled to thinking this
is about them. (echoing)

Dr. Clarke said we lost our
sense of sense of nationhood

and he was right.

Because we lost our memory of
what it meant to be a nation.

Your history is your memory.

If you don't know your history,
you don't have a memory

and until we restore our
history, our knowledge

of our history we cannot
restore the memory

and it's more than just
the intellectual historical

elements or the memory that
derives from that intellect.

It is the memory that is
stimulated in your subconscious

by the memory of those
intellectual experiences.

That is the critical,
the critical element

of the community's development.

- This stuff is
not really complex

but what it does when the
real history is exposed.

Not only does it exposed
Europeans who misrepresented

the history, it also exposes
compromised "Black scholars"

who have fed into the code
system of human beings

being crayons, which in law
makes them non-descendible

So these anomalies in
our cultural circumstance

are not just happenstance,

they have political
ramifications.

For example, when one is
not in one's proper person,

one in law is not descendible.

And of course that anybody
that does any research

will find that all the
Asiatics and people in general

are on the stock market
via marriage certificates,

birth certificates, etc.
Original manufacturers titles

of origins, on
their vehicles, etc.

And this is how they fund
their army with what is known

as U.S. T-bonds.

And you also know, or notice
that a lot of the so-called

scholars will avoid or skip
around this information

as if it doesn't matter
or doesn't count.

When it's actually the
base of the economics

and the base of the politics
period here in North America.

And the foundation of the
politics is the Spanish

Inquisition, Secret Treaty of
Verona, Doctrine of Discovery,

Christian Black Codes 1724,
the 14th Amendment creation

of the corpse, Artificial
person and given the quality

of person in 1868, when they
closed the Freed Man's Bureau.

This is to mentally
and politically
disconnect the people

from the land and thus
their inheritance.

- First of all we have to
understand what a nation is,

a nation has a nationality,
a nation has a flag.

A nation has a constitution.

When you look at other
nations, other nations

has a constitution, right?

They have a flag, right?

Constitution, flag,
laws, principles.

Blacks don't have
principles, morals, a flag,

a constitution, none of that.

That's what the nation is.

This is why nations
build with nations.

That's how it is.

You have no nation, so
that's very important.

This is why Noble Drew Ali
said, "Nationality is the order

"of the day."

Because everybody has
to have a nationality.

That's international law.

So it plays a very big
part but we have to get

to that again.

By proclaiming who we are.

This is our land.

We have to teach our
people that they're home.

We have to teach our
people their nationality,

their principles, their
morals and then they wouldn't

have any hate. This is why

Noble Drew Ali said, "Teach
love instead of hate."

- You can take the slave
out of slavery all you want

but until the slave takes
the slavery out of themself,

you will never be free.

So you can teach African
history and culture all you want

but until you resocialize
African children,

we will always be self-hating.

You can build all the
Black businesses you want

but until we've been socialized
to support Black businesses

they will always shut down.

You can destroy white
supremacy all you want

but the white supremacy
will regenerate itself

because it lives in
every Black person.

You get rid of the flu,
you get rid of the flu.

But you still have it in you.

So guess what, the
flu will be right back

in the neighborhood
because it's in you.

See white supremacy lives in us.

Nobody wants to talk about it.

It's not even
afro-centric scholars,

who also got white supremacy
living in them too.

You see that?

Nobody wants to talk about that.

What about the white
man living in us.

Let's have a
conversation on that.

Because when you deal with
post traumatic slavery disease,

that's what you're dealing with.

Your question is how
do I get the white man

out of me?

Nobody touches that and you
know why nobody touches that?

Because many of our
learned African scholars

got a much stronger white
man living inside of them

because they were the products
of the white institutions.

"Miseducation of the
Negro" Carter G. Woodson.

He laid it out, he
wasn't a psychologist

but that book was
profoundly psychological.

The college-educated
Negro is seldom of any use

to his race.

- Well first of all
let's go to two people,

the honorable Malcolm X,
El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz

and Noble Drew Ali.

Both of them said, the
media can make you love

your oppressor and
hate the oppressed.

Malcolm talked about that.

Noble Drew Ali said the
media is, the most powerful

tool in our hands is the press.

Now I did radio for
13 years, I understand

the manipulations of it.

It plays a very very big part.

Media is not just behind
radio, it's newspapers,

it's videography, what
you're doing here,

that's media.

So because the masses
of people see this

and around the world so they
can shape the people's minds

and shape the way people think,

it plays a very big part of
what's going on right now.

It's dangerous too.

- This information,
this knowledge is hidden

in plain sight, right.

And so individuals like
yourself and what I would hope

to do and anyone
else, they don't know

what they don't know. (laughs)

So they don't know
enough to even realize

that there's something
that they don't know.

And again, we have allowed
the media, largely television

to educate our children
and our communities

about who they are.

That's not ever been
effective, okay ever. (laughs)

- Step outside the
box and not just focus

on those things that
society wants us to focus on

which is the media, which
is music and not engaging

ourselves in other things
that will allow us to blossom.

And be positive role models
and figures in our community.

Black folk must come to the
realization that they must

find a way of reinforming
their people and educating

and training them to be a
competitive group of people

and the time is running
out on doing that.

- I truly feel as though
it's a process that is not

going to happen overnight.

But I definitely feel as
though there are people

who understand that we
are moving towards that.

They are individuals who
are coming out of a certain

type of mentality and
want to know who they are.

(jazz music)

- You have to first want
to be Black (laughs)

to be a Black nationalist.

You gotta first want
to be an African

to be a Pan-African
Nationalist you see.

So the identity precedes
the national impetus.

So you have to first
get us happy and proud

to be who we are.

Once we're happy and
proud to be who we are,

then we naturally start talking
about let's do for myself.

Let's get our own school,
let's get our own neighborhood.

Let's get our own supermarket,
let's get our own ships.

Let's get our own airplanes.

That is the natural outgrowth
of a healthy sense of love

of self.

That naturally comes.

- You know when I look at
other cultures, Mexican,

French, wherever, they're
proud of who they are.

They wave their flag, they
speak their native tongue.

They eat their native food.

They wear their native clothing.

They are proud of who they
are and in world history

it seems like people
of African descent,

we are the only people
who have gone through

this identify crisis from
being colored, Negro,

just trying to find
out who we are.

- You go into an
Italian neighborhood.

That Italian flag is waving.

You go into a
Jewish neighborhood,

that Israeli flag is waving.

You go into the Puerto
Rican neighborhood,

that Puerto Rican
flag is waving.

You see that?

But you go into the
Black neighborhood,

one flag and that's the
red, white and blue.

The flag of our oppressor.

The people who love who they
are don't want to integrate

with other people.

Boom, that's why Black people
love integration so much.

We're the only people
who want to be around

other people who don't
look nothing like us

all day long.

Chinese want to
be around Chinese.

I love myself.

Jews want to be around Jews.

I love myself.

Anglo-Saxons want to
be around Anglo-Saxons.

I love myself.

Latinos want to be around
Latinos, I love myself.

It's self love.

We're the only people,

we don't want to
live with each other.

We don't want to
work with each other.

We don't want to
marry each other.

Look, because we
don't like ourselves.

That's why you want to be
surrounded by non-Black folk

because you don't want to
see reflections of yourself

around you.

We do no want reminders
of anything that tells

us we African, I
don't want to hear it.

- [James] And that's why it's
important for African people

to begin to inform themselves,
instruct themselves,

but you can't inform
and instruct yourself

until you've recreated yourself.

And you cannot recreate yourself
unless you have a culture

and a value system that
comes from your ancestral

experience that interprets
the reality that should

produce the consciousness
that you call you.

- Because before we can
unite with anybody else,

first we have to unite with
ourselves as individuals.

Because if we don't have
ourselves together personally

we're not going to do
no good for no one else.

No matter if they're
our culture or not.

So we have got to come
together as an African people

and we have got to get
our African minsters

and holy people who are
said to be holy people.

Our ministers, makes no
difference if you are Christian,

Muslim, Hebrew Israelite,
Buddhist, Agnostic or Atheist.

We have to bring us all
together and we have to speak

on the movement of us as a
spiritual people forward.

We don't have to change no
religions, just ground yourself

in the fact that every
religion from Agnostic

to Zoroastrianism came
out of the African mind.

- Well the first thing
to do is understand

the nature of your
condition where you are

in time and place and space.

Right now you are in
danger, you are in a high

risk position, you are
totally dependent on others,

on the white society and
other people to take care

of you, support you,
provide you with your daily

necessities of life.

That's critically important,
if you don't understand

you're dependent on other people

who are competing with you.

- We will not build until
the Black power is connected

to the Black dollar.

And that's going to offend some
people but it's the reality.

We have to shift, what are
we celebrating right now?

This is our 150th year
since the end of slavery.

150 years of the 13th Amendment.

150.

Are we on course for revolution?

Are we on course
for regeneration?

Are we on course
for reorganization?

If anybody says
yes, they are crazy.

We're not on course.

We're not on course and the
reason we're not on course

is we're not looking
at the economics

and the reason we don't want
to look at the economics

is because nobody wants to
be accountable for the whole

for how they spend their money.

Let me say it again, the
reason why it is so difficult

to talk about the black
dollar that underscores

the black power is because
nobody wants to be accountable

to the whole for how
they spend their money.

In other words for us to really
rebuild the Black community

besides the lecture,
you understand,

you have to come forward
with how much you make a year

and the community is going
to say based on how much

you make a year you are
obligated to give $200 a month,

you are obligated to
give $5000, you see that?

Like the churches do.

See the churches make you
economically accountable.

You can't join a church, a
mega church without them seeing

your tax return.

Now check this out,

I don't have a problem
with the formula.

I like it.

The problem is they're not
using the money to build

up the community, they're
using the money to build

a bigger church, you
see the difference?

But I like the protocol.

I like the idea.

You want to be in the
Black conscious community,

I don't care if you
Hebrew, Moor, Nuwaubian,

God and Earth, Nation of
Islam, Vegetarian, Socialist,

Nationalist, it don't matter.

You want to be in the
conscious community,

I need to see your paystubs.

- You build those
communities around what?

People who have a
similar interest to yours

or who has a similar
problem to yours

and you build communities.

In the old days, the pioneers,
they were going West,

they would circle the
wagons when the Indians

would shoot at them.

Blacks must learn
to circle the wagons

and build their own communities.

Inside of those communities
they have to start building

vertical industries,
build their own businesses

and industries.

Those industries need to
provide a tax base and jobs

and business opportunities,
services, goods

for their own people.

Thirdly, they got to learn
how to practice group

economics and group politics.

Which means in group
economics, you make your money

bounce 8 to 12 times with your
own people before it leaves.

That's why Hispanic money
bounces six to seven times,

white money bounces 8
to 12 times, Asian money

bounces about 12 or 13 times

and Jewish money
bounces 18 times.

Black money doesn't bounce once.

We spend our money outside
of our own communities.

Other people spend their
money with their own people.

We're losing the money.

We have a balance of trade,
which means we're spending

our money in other people's
communities subsidizing them.

Nobody comes to the Black
community to subsidize

the Black community but
we go to everybody else's

community and drop our money
there because our money

doesn't bounce once.

We're totally depending
on other people

and other people are trying
are competing against us.

- We have to look at economics.

We have to find a way
to economically support

our own people realistically.

Realistically and begin to
let the dollar turn in our

community, I need say no more.

Claud Anderson, George Fraser
and all the countless others

Reginald Lewis who bought
Tropicana showed us

how to do this.

And there are sisters who
are doing it dynamically.

Black Enterprise will list
you the different types

of businesses that are
run by us successfully.

So economic is another ministry.

We have to look at labor.

We have to start
to hire ourselves.

Why should our children
respect us when everything

they need to do they
go to other people

to meet their need and
solve their problems.

Start with your own children.

Instead of giving
them an allowance,
make them work for it.

Let them get that work
ethic that if you want

that money on Friday this
is what you have to do.

Hire our own children
first and if we can build

a business around
that, a family business

that will be handed
down from generation

to generation.

If we can do that then we can
start to hire the community

around us, start within
and move without.

But we have to start
to hire ourselves.

We have to be our
own labor leaders.

- If we really want
to get serious.

We will really crack down on
people's financial obligation

to the struggle.

Until we get there, we're
hypocrites, we're not serious.

All this information sharing
and information producing

Man, other groups
are laughing at us.

They laughing!

Look at these negroes over here.

Yeah, they were great.

They build the pyramids.

They got melanin,
they got spirituality

and don't own nothing.

Look at this.

You keep telling us
how great you are

but you ain't showing it.

You see that?

That's the difference.

We're telling people
how great we are.

You don't have to tell
when you can manifest.

Why not manifest, you ain't
got to tell white folks

how great you are, show 'em.

But we not ready to
sacrifice the Black dollar.

- We have to begin
teaching our people about

the positives of African
history and not starting

Black history with
slavery, let alone

only studying our
history in February,

which is the shortest and the
coldest month of the year.

- By studying our history
and relearning our culture

and our values, relearning
our spiritual systems

and what they were meant for.

Understanding that
spirituality is your reality.

Spirituality in the African
context is your participating

in your daily reality
and being conscious

of that participation.

And so you begin to
learn that there are laws

of the universe, laws of
nature that our ancestors

discerned and left in
writing and left in folklore

and left in metaphor, left
in religious and spiritual

traditions for us to use

to guide how we build
relationships with one another.

And a big part of that
is to see ourselves

as being aspects of the divine
having the human experience.

And so the divine
in me recognizes the
divine in the woman

and so the love that I have
for the divine in me recognizes

the love that the woman
has for the divine in her.

And so love loves love.

And that's what brings
us together rather than

to be attracted to the physical
aesthetics and to become

attached to those
aesthetics which always

lead to catastrophe at
one level or another.

- If you ask me what to study.

I say study self and I
say keep on studying self,

keep studying because
you go to these colleges,

these universities, these
great schools of learning

that doesn't mean that
you stop your learning.

You constantly keep growing.

We have to proclaim who we are.

We must proclaim
our nationality.

And I'm going to say
this again, Negro, Black

and Colored is not a nationality
nor is African-American.

We must proclaim who we are.

This is who we are,
nationhood building.

- So at the end of the day,
it starts with the individual

the individual has an
affect on their family

and the people around them
and we just have to take

it one individual at at time
until we get to the point

where we can organize groups
of people who are willing

to work together and
sacrifice their time

and don't have time to
argue over the nonsense

and be willing to
sometimes be a leader

or a follower.

You might have to
switch your positions

to meet the ultimate goal.

- We must understand
how to reconstruct

the African
individual character.

So that character can begin to
construct the African family

so that family can begin
to construct the African

neighborhood and that
neighborhood can combine

to construct the
African community.

Then the African community
combined to construct

the African nation but in the
context of doing all that.

We must learn again
how to put in place

economics, politics and
culture that is controlled

by us and that is of us.

Because in each of those
levels, the individuals

the family the
neighborhood, the community

and the nation, economic
politics and culture

is essential to be in
the hands of the person

who is building that nation.

And they've got to understand
at that the very foundation

of motivation is the need
to provide food, clothing,

shelter, safety and security
for yourself and your families.

And that means you have
to have an analysis

as hip-hop has been doing
of the social ecology

that we find ourselves in
and that the social contract

that we have with the
society we're in must

be critiqued and
criticized and dissected

and then reconstructed so
that it works in our benefit

and not to our destruction.

- And so my sense is
yes, there's an answer

and the healing comes with
transmitting the knowledge,

sharing the truth, truth is
the foundation of all human

virtue, we gotta tell the truth.

And in so doing the
healing happens.

- We find ourselves working
with this group of young

people who seem so far
behind but at the end

of the day they're just
miseducated, uneducated

and don't know who they are.

And I truly feel that the
more we expose our young

people to African
history and culture

and doing it more
than just February,

I feel that they will
eventually begin to come around.

- We must be about
empire building.

We have the DNA of
the pyramid-builders.

We also have the DNA of
the plantation-dwellers.

We have the DNA of those
of us who lived in projects

and we are the people
who will one day live

in the promise lands.

Let's get together.

Let us have a decent,
respectful conversation

about where we must
head in the future.

Let us look at our
religions, let us look at our

economics, let us
look at our labor.

Let us discuss the
issues of gender issue.

Let us look at the question
of how to educate our people.

We need to bring our
judges and lawyers together

to create a ministry of law.

We must secure and
keep our people safe.

We must entertain them in
the traditions of Africa

and we must lead ourselves
as the African politicians

because long before
there were presidents,

there were pharaohs
in the White House.

- So what is happening, this
stranglehold of Europeans

on the minds of people of
color is starting to loosen.

They are killing each other
in an effort to get more

wealth and power.

They are destroying the
environment in order

to get more wealth and power.

So what's gonna happen
is nature itself

is going to deal with them.

And when they are no longer
a force to be reckoned with,

then they will free up space
for those who are ready

to jumpstart a new civilization
to engage in acts of Sankofa

and reach back into
their collective memory

and bring the best of their
ancestors into the present

moment so that they
can recreate the world

of their ancestors
that their ancestors

would then inhabit through them.

That's the process, as
Earth, Wind and Fire said,

that's the way of the world.

And that's where we're going
and nothing on this planet

can stop that.

Nothing can stop that.

So if we're honest
with ourselves.

500 years is just
(snaps) a blip in time.

A thousand years is just
a (snaps) blip in time.

And that I'm confident
that in the time to come,

in the lifetimes to
come we will experience

a return to the ascension of
people of African ancestry

to their proper place on
the throne on planet Earth.

THat's what I'm living for.

- So while we tell this story
of the terroristic disaster.

I also want us to understand
a reason to celebrate

because we're still here and
we're still going strong.

And it ain't over until we win.

And it's important
that as we move forward

the solution for us is
to keep on keeping on.

And whatever you do, do it well.

And whatever you do,
develop an understanding

of who we are as a people.

Let us stop fighting
amongst ourselves.

Let us come together and
let us move out of the

darkness and into
the light. (echoing)
