=Episode 21=

Quick.

No one can be left alive!

Kill them!

- Your Highness! - Your Highness!

Save them.

(Imperial Study)

Liu Changsheng.

Although you are the Princess of Fuyu,

after marrying into Great Tang,

you must abide by our rules.

I ordered you to stay at home,

how dare you go out without permission?

I know I was wrong,

but I really had no choice.

No choice?

Did someone force you to leave the house?

Last night,

Chu Ge came to visit me

and told me that His Highness was sent to the fiefdom.

I was afraid something would happen to him.

- So... - Something did happen.

I was quite surprised

that my third son

ran away halfway.

Your Majesty, please investigate it.

His Highness was just sent to the fiefdom.

He didn't commit a heinous crime.

Why would he run away?

Jing may be dissatisfied with the removal of his military power,

and the deprivation of his title.

Your Majesty.

His Highness is dedicated to the people.

He isn't a greedy person.

If he is really such a person,

he wouldn't harvest food for the people

at the risk of defying your order.

Brother.

I have something to say.

Wan.

You are...

Brother.

I received a letter from Changsheng

and hurriedly led the soldiers there.

I found Prince Qin was besieged by assassins.

There must be something fishy behind this.

Please investigate it thoroughly.

Where is Jing? Where is he?

Is Jing injured?

Tell me.

Where is Jing?

I was a step late.

When I arrived,

Jing had fallen off the cliff.

Changsheng.

Changsheng.

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

- Jing. - Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

- Jing. - Your Highness.

Jing.

Your Highness.

Jing.

Your Highness.

- Your Highness. - Jing.

Jing.

What is that?

It's...

It's...

It's a locust.

Go over there and take a look.

- Okay. - Yes.

Your Highness.

Go over there and take a look.

- Not here. - Jing.

Keep looking.

Your Highness.

- Your Highness. - Have you checked there?

No.

Go to the front.

There are locusts.

The locusts are coming.

Run, run!

- The locusts are coming. - Run.

The locusts are coming.

Your Highness.

At your request,

we've sent more people to search for His Highness.

Besides,

His Majesty just sent someone to ask

did His Highness

leave some

strategies of tackling the locust plague.

Strategies of tackling the locust plague?

What are you writing?

Some thoughts on controling locust swarms.

(Trapping and Burning Locusts)

I referred to the methods of controlling

locust plague recorded in historical books

and made some notes.

We should take preventive measures.

Harvest the grain.

Harvest the grain.

In my opinion,

Jing needs to suffer some grievances

and be confined to the Reflection Room

to resolve people's resentment.

No.

Then I will report to His Majesty.

Wait.

Go to His Highness's study and wait for me.

Yes.

(Light in the Courtyard)

(Notes on Preventing Locusts)

(Encirclement)

(You've worked so hard)

(and racked your brains)

(for Great Tang's sake)

(to find a solution.)

(But His Majesty)

(and the people)

(did this to you in return.)

(Notes on Preventing Locusts)

(Is it really worth it?)

(Resolving the turmoil.)

(But it's the people that are in turmoil.)

(The more you prevent it, it unleashes more turmoil.)

Why not let them all accompany you?

What is Her Highness thinking?

This bunch of fools caused His Highness to end up like this.

Now she's helping them to control locusts.

Now Prince Lu

is also in charge of the disaster control.

If you ask me,

it is better to change

the disaster management policies.

Wouldn't that be harmful?

Who harmed whom first?

Never mind.

Forget about it.

Take it.

Remember to tell him

that the methods recorded

were all carefully considered.

Don't change them at will.

Yes.

Youmou, wait a moment.

The 40% of the food previously prepared

should still be in the mansion, right?

Yes.

But

it might be transferred soon.

Don't give it to them.

I know how to use

the 40% of food.

Your Highness, it...

No need to say more.

I know what I'm doing.

Help me do something.

Before His Highness returns home,

the entire mansion

should listen to my instructions.

If someone disobeys,

heavy penalties may be imposed.

Yes.

Princess Royal.

Have you checked carefully?

Although the hall has taken precautions,

we still need to be careful that

locust invasions will damage the books.

Check it again.

Yes.

Princess Royal.

You have been working all night recently.

I guess you haven't had dinner.

I prepared some refreshing side dishes.

Lingzhi.

I don't know if Jing's alive or dead.

How can I have the appetite?

At a time like this,

you have to brace yourself up.

His Highness is a lucky man.

How's Changsheng?

I just went to Prince Qin's Mansion.

The servant said that Changsheng went out

with Jinyan, Shenxing, Youyong and Youmou.

But I don't know where she went.

I guess she went to look for His Highness.

This locust swarms have only been here for one day.

But the hidden dangers brought by it

will take over a year to cure.

In my opinion,

these aren't the scariest.

What do you mean?

The natural disaster

is followed by the man-made disaster.

This place must be paid attention to.

And also the grain.

Keep an eye on it.

(Grain)

Changsheng, how are you?

Take it away.

Ke.

It's so late.

What are you doing here

instead of studying your disaster relief notes?

Food and fodder should go

ahead of troops and horses.

I hope you could help

with raising food.

You're right.

Since now you're in charge

of the disaster relief work,

you should figure out a way

to raise food.

Maybe Jing left in a hurry

and you are depressed,

so you get confused.

That day, Jing proposed

to donate 40% of the food.

Did he propose that?

I didn't know.

I am just a woman.

I only know to protect the family property for my husband.

Since he promised that,

you can go find him.

Okay.

Your Highness is eloquent.

I don't have time

to waste with you here.

It's up to my father to decide.

After the plague is lifted,

perhaps

the locusts will be attached to this place.

Your Highness, don't be hurt by them.

Ke, stay.

What a big locust!

Fortunately, I found it.

Liu Changsheng.

You're right.

The plauge is lifted.

Beware of the locusts left.

They will cause harm.

I got anxious

and acted impulsively.

Please don't blame me.

Your Highness is widowed at a young age.

I tell you, let's wait and see.

He's not dead, he'll come back.

Liu Changsheng, you crazy woman!

I won't let it go.

You all should go and get busy.

Where are you?

You will definitely come back.

Come back quickly.

I know you'll come back.

Your Highness, your face...

That crazy woman Liu Changsheng

dared to hit me.

Sooner or later,

I'll make her pay.

Your Highness, calm down.

But Father still cares about Lv Jing

and shows understanding

for Liu Changsheng.

This crazy woman won't give out the food.

Father doesn't want to force her

out of guilt for Lv Jing.

Father favors Jing,

so he won't make things hard for Liu Changsheng.

But what if Jing is already dead?

If we can't find Jing's body,

Father will not believe it.

It's just a body.

The water is turbulent

under the cliff.

If he died in the water,

the body would be ruined in a day.

This Liu Changsheng

refused to donate food

to save the people from trouble

and caused Great Tang

to lose the most valued prince.

Will Father

forgive

such kind of person?

Liu Changsheng.

I don't believe you'll survive this.

(Imperial Study)

Father.

You...

Changsheng was just anxious

and couldn't control her emotions.

It's her again.

Father, don't blame her.

But however sad she is,

she can't delay the disaster relief work

and risk people's livelihoods.

I tried my best to convince her,

but she still refused

to donate the 40% of food they promised.

Now the people are starving.

Refused to donate food?

She is

blaming me.

Father is in high position,

and naturally beas in mind the overall interests.

Changsheng is just a woman.

It is difficult for her to understand.

I feel guilty for Jing.

(Prince Qin's Mansion)

Troublemarker!

Go back.

Go back now, jinx!

Go back.

Go back to Fuyu.

(Prince Qin's Mansion)

The food outside the city must be properly placed.

Those will save lives.

- Understand? - Yes.

And this drawing.

Take another look.

Your Highness, the meal is ready.

Let us serve you to eat.

Now locust swarms are spreading,

let's not waste food.

Sit down and let's eat together.

- Thank you, Your Highness. - Thank you, Your Highness.

Let's eat.

Your Highness, the palace sent someone

to ask you to go to the palace.

Seems that I can't have this meal.

Your Highness.

There are still many people gathered at the front door.

Let's go through the back door.

Why go through the back door?

Your Highness.

Now the people of the city

have been instigated

and lost control.

Can you bear with it?

His Highness and I did nothing wrong.

Why should we flinch?

Your Highness.

Let's go.

(Prince Qin's Mansion)

Go back.

Go back to Fuyu.

Go back.

Go back.

- How dare you! - Your Highness.

He's just an innocent child.

Let him be.

Jinx.

Go back to Fuyu.

(The world now)

(is not what you want.)

(Come back quickly.)

(Let's make it)

(a better place together.)

The Princess of Fuyu, Liu Changsheng,

requests an audience.

Your Majesty.

Rise.

Your head...

Thank you for your concern.

I'm fine.

Just bumped my head.

Ke told me

that your mansion

has been busy.

You didn't have time

to donate food.

Your Majesty.

I have my own difficulties.

We can't use

the 40% of food.

How dare you!

I dare not.

But I really can't use it.

Your Majesty.

How bold!

You've become more and more unruly.

Flog him twenty times.

Your Majesty, bad news.

What's up?

Take your time.

Your Highness.

We've found His Highness's body.

Impossible.

Impossible.

Impossible.

(Prince Qin's Mansion)

Your Highness, the imperial decree has arrived.

How can Great Tang's imperial decree be issued so casually?

His Majesty knows you are in a bad mood,

so you don't need to kneel.

He restored Prince Qin's title

and will hold the funeral

following the Crown Prince's rank.

Funeral?

Why hold the funeral?

That's not His Highness's body.

Your Highness, sorry about that.

- His Highness... - Get out!

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Be careful on the ladder.

Okay.

Stop.

What are you doing?

Your Highness, this is Mr. Youmou's order.

- We were decorating... - His Highness is not dead.

That's not him.

Your Highness.

This is His Majesty's order.

Don't make it difficult for them.

No one's order will work.

His Highness will come back.

Your Highness.

Pass my order.

Anyone who does

these unlucky things again

will be flogged to death.

(Prince Lu's Mansion)

Come on, Ge.

Let me toast you.

Congratulations, your wishes have come true.

Liu Changsheng

refused to hold the funeral.

Now Father

is furious.

I did not expect

she's an infatuated person.

This crazy woman refused to donate food

and even hit me.

I said

I'd let her pay the price.

Your Highness.

How are you going to deal with her?

Since this couple

is so affectionate,

I'll fulfill her wish.

I won't let Jing feel lonely

on the road to the underworld.

I killed Jing.

- Jing. - Your Majesty.

Prince Lu is here to greet you.

Father.

I'm here to greet you.

All the people in the world

are still relying on you.

If you keep being like this,

Jing will not

rest in peace.

We should hold his funeral as soon as possible.

- If we delay it any further, - Jing.

I'm afraid

he won't feel at peace.

Okay.

You arrange it.

Her Highness and Jing are very much in love.

I'm afraid

Jing would want to see Changsheng the most.

Go.

Go ahead.

Jing.

They all say His Highness is gone.

But I believe

he's fine.

He will come back.

You also believe he will come back, right?

We need to give him some time.

We have to believe in ourselves.

Right?

(Library)

How's Changsheng?

Yesterday I went to her place

and wanted to comfort her.

But Jinyan asked me to leave.

They've been through so much.

They were about to live happily together.

Why did this happen?

Now the wedding is coming soon.

It's such a pity.

What should we do?

By the way, according to the rules of Great Tang,

how would an unmarried woman

like her live?

The worst case scenario is being sent back to Fuyu.

Princess Royal.

Princess Royal, bad news.

- Take your time. - I can't.

Prince Lu requested

to make Her Highness sacrifice herself.

His Majesty has agreed.

At this moment, Prince Lu should have gone to Prince Qin's Mansion

with the imperial decree.

- What? - What?

Go get the carriage ready.

I'm going to Prince Qin's Mansion.

No, I'm going to see His Majesty.

You go to Prince Qin's Mansion.

I'll buy some time. You hurry up.

Okay.

Your Highness.

Why haven't you

decorated the mourning hall?

Don't you want Jing to rest in peace?

Prince Lu.

You forgot how I hit you?

Do you want to get beaten again?

This time I brought the imperial decree.

Presumably

you won't accept it either.

Liu Changsheng.

You've been in Great Tang for less than a year

and already disobeyed the order three times.

That's a first in history.

Whatever.

I will take your life

in a lofty way.

What did you say?

Come on. Pick one.

Her Highness married into Great Tang

and has a respected status.

She represents Fuyu.

How can she make the sacrifice easily?

If you won't pick one,

then I'll do it for you.

That's it.

Stop.

Don't move.

Let go.

Princess Consort, you go first.

Leave it to us.

I'm not going anywhere.

I'll wait for him here.

Changsheng, go!

Don't hesitate, go now!

Liu Changsheng.

You better give in.

This mansion has been

surrounded by me.

Could it be

that you want them to die with you?

(Imperial Study) Brother.

Changsheng is the Princess of Fuyu.

How can we make her die

as we wish?

(Upholding Morality) Besides, there is no such precedent

in Great Tang.

She refused to donate food for disaster relief

and let Jing die without peace.

Do you know what people

say about her?

After Changsheng came to Great Tang,

she helped us plant Muyan trees

to develop the salt industry

and compiled many books in Xiuwen Hall.

She has made so many contributions.

How could she be a human sacrifice?

I've made up my mind.

Since childhood,

I never asked you for anything.

This time,

I beg you to take back your order.

You were all fooled

by her sweet talk.

- Brother. - Drag Princess Royal out.

Yes. Princess Royal.

- Brother. - Princess Royal.

- Brother. - Let's go.

- If Jing was still alive, - Let's go, Princess Royal.

- he wouldn't want to see this. - Let's go.

Brother.

It seems that you

are determined to make everyone

in the mansion die with you.

Don't you dare.

Protecting Her Highness.

Live or die with Prince Qin's Mansion.

In this case,

kill them all.

Yes.

Stop.

I told you to stop.

Don't move.

Behave yourself.

Do you think I'm afraid of death?

I'm just afraid that I won't be able to wait for Yi'an.

Rest assured, His Highness

won't come back.

He will.

But...

Listen carefully.

Today I, Liu Changsheng, voluntarily go to die.

You cannot follow me.

- Your Highness. - Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Changsheng.

- Youyong, Youmou. - Yes.

Take good care of Jinyan and Shenxing.

Take them down.

- Yes. - Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Liu Changsheng.

Time for you to die.

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

Changsheng.

- No, Your Highness! - No, Your Highness!

Your Highness.

- Changsheng. - Your Highness.

Your Highness.

- Your Highness. - Let me go.

Your Highness.

Don't move.

I said...

- Your Highness. - Changsheng.

I would make you pay.
