(Run faster, faster.)

(Huailiu and the people in Yu'an Hall are still waiting for me.)

Chuxi.

Xiao Xingheng, go to Yu'an Hall to save them!

Quick, hurry up!

Everyone stay and protect Her Grace's safety.

Yes!

(Huailiu, you must hang in there.)

Your Highness, there's something suspicious about this plague.

Many people are involved. You must be extra careful.

And, yesterday we found

the plague originates from the poisoned well.

Today, someone wants to kill the Crown Princess.

(Yu'an Hall)

Xiao Xingheng.

Miss, you scared me.

I didn't follow you for just one day.

Now you get yourself into trouble again?

(It really had been a hard time recently.)

Do you think I should

go to a temple and pray?

You should go and pray.

Pray to Buddha that you won't get hurt again.

This is nothing.

I fell to the ground

after running myself out of energy.

Huailiu is the one truly hurt.

Maybe I should pray for Huailiu too

when I go to the temple.

Luckily, His Highness arrived on time.

Otherwise...

It was indeed timely.

And he was quite handsome.

Who are you calling handsome?

How's Huailiu's injury? Is it serious?

We haven't seen each other for so long,

and the first thing you ask is about another man?

(He is just jealous of everyone!)

Huailiu is fine.

Just a minor injury. Don't worry.

That's good.

Don't you have anything else to say to me?

Come here.

Come a little closer.

Xiao Xingheng,

I miss you so much.

Me too.

Xiao Xingheng,

now I seem to know

what it means for a single word

to determine life or death.

In that situation,

using someone's life to intimidate others

was the best choice.

And that man you killed wasn't innocent.

You did nothing wrong.

Yes.

I thought you'd arrive in a few days.

I led 3,000 cavalry here first.

More is coming.

They'll arrive in a few days.

You came in person. What about the capital?

Don't worry.

Prince Ning has to the capital.

With him there, those people dare act recklessly.

This plague is likely orchestrated by Xiao Xu.

But Xiao Han is also involved.

(Indeed.)

(The plague isn't just targeting me,)

(but also the Ning's Residence and the entire Yizhou City.)

(If the Ning family and Yizhou run into trouble,)

(my old man would be affected on the front line.)

(If something happens to me,)

(my marriage with Xiao Xingheng would naturally be off.)

(The old man might even fall out with Xiao Xingheng.)

(It's killing two birds with one stone.)

Such a method of disregarding human life to achieve a goal

is indeed similar to Xiao Xu's sinister plan

to gain military power

by sacrificing 150,000 soldiers.

What about Xiao Han then?

I've launched an investigation.

The remaining two people who stirred up trouble

on the day of the lockdown are the same ones

who tried to assassinate you twice.

Are you saying

Xiao Xu sent people to start the plague and stir up trouble

while another group was specifically to assassinate me?

Yes.

Dating is so troublesome.

Do you regret it?

Not really.

But have you prepared the betrothal gifts?

It's expensive to marry me.

I offer the entire Linhua Palace as the betrothal gift.

Is it enough to marry you?

Barely enough.

Then I must thank you for agreeing to marry me.

No need to thank me.

Miss, something's wrong!

The residence is surrounded by some nobles!

They're shouting for you to come out!

What's the rush? With Xingheng here,

it's not my turn to step out yet.

Just relax.

Li Cheng, are you out of your mind?

How dare you cause trouble at Ning's Residence?

Did you forget that we're just low-key

so we didn't hang the "Ning's Residence" plague?

You're mistaken.

We're not here to cause trouble today.

We just want to see Princess Yuexi

and ask Her Grace to give us some herbs.

Pfft, is this how you ask for help?

Moreover, herbs are scarce now.

Why should we give them to you?

All you know

is seeking pleasure all day.

You still went out during the outbreak.

And during the lockdown,

you hid at home like cowards.

Those poor scholars

even know to go out and help.

Don't act like you're so noble.

All the medicinal herbs the Crown Prince sent

were monopolized by you.

We're all prominent families. You can't just feasting

while we don't even get a sip of soup, can it?

Yeah!

Slandering the Princess

is like defaming the royal family.

The punishment ranges from exile to beheading.

You'd better think carefully before speaking.

Stop trying to scare me.

We just want to see Princess Yuexi

and beg for her herbs to save our elders.

Is it wrong to show filial piety?

Let's go!

My hand, my hand!

- Greetings, Your Highness. - Greetings, Your Highness.

Who are you

daring to trouble Princess Yuexi?

Your Highness, spare us!

It's just my father got affected,

so I wanted to ask Her Grace for some herbs.

I didn't mean to trouble her at all.

I'll spare your life

because you acted out of filial piety.

Now, all medicinal materials are distributed by the government.

They are prioritized for patients at Yu'an Hall, temples, and academies.

Others with just coughs will have to wait a bit longer.

The herbs sent by the court are already on the way,

and soon everyone will be able to get medicine.

If anyone needs the medicine early,

don't come here, come to me directly.

Any questions?

- No. - Then get lost!

Get out, now!

Thank you for your kind help, Your Highness.

It's my duty. No need for thanks.

Since I'm here,

it's only right to pay respects to Mrs. Ning.

Is Madame Ning available?

Come, please.

The Spring Festival is just around the corner.

Your Highness is alone here in Yizhou.

If you don't mind, spend the holiday here with us.

Yes, Grandma.

Good.

Grandma? We aren't married yet.

You're already calling her that?

What?

What exactly did Grandma say to you?

It's a secret.

But I'm curious, what did you promise Grandma?

We aren't even married. She just let you call her "Grandma"?

I promised Grandma

that none of her worries would come true.

By the way, she also invited me to spend the Spring Festival here.

She really sees you as one of us.

We'll be family anyway.

Does that mean my position in the family is threatened?

There's no home without you.

Master.

Master, the plague that occurred

in the palace ten years ago

and the current one have indeed identical symptoms.

(The plague ten years ago?)

(Have I missed some crucial information)

(in the book?)

What happened ten years ago?

A plague.

The records indicate that

the 17 palace maids first successively had symptoms

of fever, cough, and high fever, followed by difficulty breathing

half a month before their deaths.

These symptoms

are identical to those of the current plague in Yizhou.

Master, Xiao Xingheng

has already found us out.

Within ten days,

he'll return to the capital with evidence.

What about the investigation

I ordered earlier?

Exactly as you expected,

the plague that swept through Yeting

had symptoms identical to those

of the current outbreak in Yizhou.

I've looked through

the records on the plague in Yeting.

The plague in Yizhou

is indeed of the same origin with the one in Yeting.

So the plague ten years ago was also man-made?

But why?

Because of Xiao Han.

Right, Xiao Han's biological mother was a palace maid in Yeting.

- Then... - Chuxi.

If the person behind this is who I suspect,

then this matter is far from ordinary.

I must return to the capital immediately.

I'll go with you.

No.

If you don't want to take me because you think it's dangerous,

then I must go with you.

At least with me by your side,

you won't put yourself in danger.
