[Go East]

[Episode 35]

What's wrong?

This is the house I lived in when I was young.

I want to spend some time alone.

Yes.

Be careful.

Call me if you need anything.

What's wrong?

Nothing.

Let's go over there.

Ah Shu.

That door is locked.

Let's go.

Ah Shu.

Get in!

Move! Get in!

Move!

Move!

Hurry! Get in!

The gas is poisonous!

Let us out!

Let us out!

Let us out!

Let us out!

Mutu.

What?

Ah Shilan told me

the one who led the Dragon Cavalry to slaughter the village

was called Mutu.

I've seen that name

in documents related to Yanle.

Long Tuqi made him the General of the Dragon Cavalry

to eliminate his dissidents.

I want him to pay with his life.

I'll help you.

This is between me and him.

You're the Sifang Envoy.

You represent Yong no matter what you do.

I can't get you involved.

Don't worry.

I won't do anything stupid.

We want Mutu dead,

but we don't need to kill him ourselves.

[Capital of Yanle]

[Wengjin]

[Wengjin City, Yanle]

I'm the Sifang Envoy of Yong.

I've escorted Princess Longshuang back to her hometown.

What's the meaning of this?

[Mutu, the commander of Yanle's Dragon Cavalry]

Are you Mutu, the commander of Yanle's Dragon Cavalry?

Yes.

Viceroy Long sent me to receive you.

Form up!

Distinguished envoy, you've come a long way.

You and your delegation are very welcome here.

You knew we had come a long way,

but instead of letting us in the city,

you surrounded us with soldiers brandishing swords

in front of the city gate.

Do you want to start a war?

Sifang Envoy, don't get me wrong.

The swords

are just a way to show respect.

The welcoming ceremony is over.

Follow me into the city.

Wait.

It's impolite if we don't follow your custom.

The delegation of Yong, attention!

Draw swords!

Enter the city!

Stop.

Commander Mu, what do you want this time?

Since the princess has entered the city,

she should go to the Princess's Mansion for a rest first.

Escort the princess's carriage to the Princess's Mansion.

The rest of you will stay at the Yong Embassy.

It's my duty to keep the princess safe.

You'll stay at the Yong Embassy!

Can't you understand what I'm saying?

Sifang Envoy,

just do as Commander Mu says.

Yes, Your Highness.

Escort the princess to her mansion!

Mutu kills people without blinking.

What if he hurts Ah Shu?

Don't worry.

Ah Shu will be safe for now.

Viceroy Long invites the envoy of Yong

to the royal palace for a talk.

Other members of the delegation shall wait in the Yong Embassy.

What does that scoundrel want?

I'll go with you.

Don't worry. I'll come back safely.

You two can take this opportunity

to do something for me.

[The mansion of Yanle's princess]

The house in Huangsha Village with bones all over the floor

was your doing, right?

Huangsha Village?

Doesn't ring a bell.

I've slaughtered too many villages,

leaving piles and piles of bones behind me.

Huangsha Village?

I don't remember it at all.

Then have you ever thought that

one day you will become a pile of bones too?

Well…

I have to be dead first.

[Royal Court]

Envoy of Yong, please come in.

[Long Tuqi, the Viceroy of Yanle]

I'm Yuan Mo, the Sifang Envoy of Yong.

Greetings, Viceroy Long.

Don't stand on ceremony.

Sifang Envoy,

I'm surprised that you're so young

yet have assumed your father's mantle.

When your father came to Yanle as Yong's envoy back then,

it was such a magnificent sight.

I admired your father very much

and wanted to make friends with him.

But unfortunately,

your father died in the desert.

It was such a tragedy.

There are all sorts of rumors about how my parents died.

This time, I came here

to get to the bottom of it

and find the murderer.

Great!

You're a filial son.

You're the Sifang Envoy

and the son of my old friend.

I have a gift for you.

Guards.

I've kept this robe for many years.

It represents my respect

for the previous Sifang Envoy.

Back then, after your father went missing,

I sent out the Dragon Cavalry

to look for him for five days.

In the end, they found him

on the back of a hill.

His body had been devoured by vultures.

I had no choice but to bring back his blood-soaked robe,

hoping that one day

I could send it back to Yong

and return it to you.

But I didn't expect

to meet you here today.

Good.

I'll return it to you

as a gift.

Viceroy Long, you returned my father's robe,

so I should give you a gift

to show my sincerity too.

Sifang Envoy,

where is your gift?

Listen carefully.

We want to meet Princess Longshuang!

Princess Longshuang! We want to meet Princess Longshuang!

Long live Princess Longshuang!

Princess Longshuang, please bless us!

Long live Princess Longshuang!

Princess Longshuang, please bless us!

Long live Princess Longshuang!

Princess Longshuang, please bless us!

Long live Princess Longshuang!

Princess Longshuang, please bless us!

Long live Princess Longshuang!

Princess Longshuang, please bless us!

Long live…

How dare they!

Who's making all that noise outside the Royal Court?

Report!

Viceroy Long,

many commoners came out of nowhere

and gathered outside the Royal Court,

calling Princess Longshuang's name.

No.

They can't just meet her.

Ridiculous.

Your people's request speaks volumes.

My father, Yuan Hanjing, protected the princess back then.

Now that I've completed his unfinished task

and safely escorted the princess back to her hometown,

the royal bloodline of Yanle can continue,

and my father can finally rest in peace.

No matter what is awaiting me,

I won't regret it.

This…

is my gift in return.

Where did those pariahs

come from?

How dare they challenge me outside the Royal Court?

Viceroy, calm down.

This matter was odd.

Yuan Mo must have planned it beforehand.

He's very cunning.

We must be careful with him.

All he can take advantage of

is that pariah's title as the princess.

If I kill her,

what can he do?

You must not do that.

You just announced that

you would welcome the princess back.

If you killed Longshuang Yueshu now,

it'd trigger civil turmoil

and make other states despise you.

It's not a smart choice.

Then tell me.

What should I do?

It's a long game.

But don't worry, Viceroy.

She's just a small stone in your way.

In the end, you'll still be the one who rules Yanle.

After all, my son, Long Beina, couldn't have died for nothing.

I'm Wang Kunwu, the retainer of foreign affairs from the Sifang Pavilion of Yong.

A small gift. Please accept it.

It's so kind of you, Envoy Wang.

I've long heard about you.

The Sifang Envoy was supposed to visit you in person,

but Long Tuqi suddenly asked to meet him,

so I came on his behalf.

Yong's delegation has no support in Yanle.

It doesn't look good for you.

You must proceed with caution.

Madam, you've stayed in Yanle for many years.

In your eyes, what kind of person

is Long Tuqi?

Long Tuqi is violent and brutal.

He often intimidates people by killing.

But in terms of strategy,

he's not good at it.

As he gets older,

he can't do everything himself,

so he relies on his henchman and advisor

to control the court.

His henchman is Commander Mutu.

He commands the Dragon Cavalry

to eliminate dissidents for Long Tuqi.

As for his advisor,

he never shows himself in public

but is sinister and cunning.

Many of Long Tuqi's vicious tricks

were his ideas.

It's said that

he's the Man in White, the head of The Faceless,

an assassin organization in the desert.

The Man in White?

You know that guy?

I don't just know him.

He and The Faceless

killed a lot of people in Yong.

They did that in other states too.

That's why

Mutu advised Long Tuqi

to forbid the Man in White to show his face in public

and ban The Faceless from entering the city

to avoid infuriating other states.

The Man in White just agreed?

Of course not.

That's the reason why he and Mutu

are on bad terms.

[Yong Embassy]

Chief Secretary Yuchi.

Everything's in place.

Okay. Go take a rest.

Yes.

You're back.

Have you done what Yuan Mo asked?

Yanle's people all hate Long Tuqi's guts.

After I told them Princess Longshuang was back,

they all hurried to the entrance of the Royal Court to welcome her.

Long Tuqi can't

bully around anymore.

Where is Yuan Mo?

He's been staying in his room

since he came back from the Royal Court.

Yuan Mo.

You're back.

Have you met the Yueying Envoy?

Yes.

She knows you love drinking

and asked me to bring you two jars of Yueying Spring.

Are you in a bad mood?

Did Long Tuqi give you a hard time?

What is this?

My father's blood-soaked robe.

Long Tuqi is so sinister.

Yuan Mo,

he's using this to upset you.

Don't fall for it.

Thanks to you,

I got even with Long Tuqi in his court.

Without you,

I'd have lost my cool.

Don't worry.

You always have our support.

Thank you.

How's everything?

Any news?

It's said that

the Man in White has returned to Yanle

and is serving Long Tuqi as his advisor.

Now, he and Mutu

are Long Tuqi's right-hand men.

Long Tuqi and Mutu

are already hard to deal with.

Now we have to deal with the Man in White too.

Luckily,

the Man in White and Mutu don't get along.

Tell me more about it.

Princess Longshuang is here.

Princess,

please forgive me

for not going out to receive you.

Viceroy Long, you're busy

with state affairs.

Why would I blame you?

I don't remember

summoning the Yong Envoy today.

Please forgive me, Viceroy Long.

Princess Longshuang is Yanle's princess

and also a princess conferred by Yong.

It's my duty to accompany and protect her.

Good.

Princess, you came from afar.

You're a distinguished guest of Yanle.

Guest?

Viceroy Long, have you forgotten that

this is my home?

Okay.

Princess,

please take the seat up there.

No, Viceroy Long!

Ruling the state is a serious matter.

Please think twice, Viceroy Long.

Please think twice, Viceroy Long.

Don't be nervous.

I'm not here to take someone's seat.

I have something important to discuss with Viceroy Long.

Rise.

Princess, what can I do for you?

Since you're so polite,

I'll be frank with you.

Open the granary immediately

to provide food to the people.

No way.

It's feasible.

We can do that.

Open the granary?

Princess,

food concerns the survival of Yanle.

It's not something we can decide with just a word or two.

You've never handled state affairs before.

I'm afraid you don't know how hard it is.

Hard?

Can it be harder than the lives of the people?

Shouldn't food be used to keep people fed?

Go out and take a look.

What is Yanle like

under your leadership?

People are living in misery

and selling their children for food.

Those who could afford to move to other states have all left.

Those who can't leave

are already struggling to get food on the table,

yet they have to endure your incessant exploitation.

I can't bear to see the people of Yanle

live like this anymore.

Now is the time

to open the granary.

Okay.

Since you want to do that,

let's discuss it in the Royal Court.

Officials,

what do you think of opening the granary and giving out food?

I don't agree.

I think

if people think they can get food for free,

they will be lazier next year.

In the long run, it'll definitely be detrimental to production.

Exactly.

The grains in the state granary

were bought from the people

in case of emergency.

If there was another drought next year

and the harvest failed again,

the granary would be empty,

and the situation would be more challenging for us.

Alright.

Princess, did you hear that?

Opening the granary is not playing house.

Don't be childish.

No one in your court dares

to disobey you.

It's not because you're respectful,

but because you're brutal

and black-hearted.

Princess,

when I found out you were alive,

I wrote to Yong immediately and asked

to take you back so we could rule together!

While you were away,

it was me who kept Yanle from falling

and maintained peace with neighboring states.

It was also me

who made every effort to make Yanle survive

when Yong formed an alliance with the other five states!

What you saw today

is the result of the hard work

of everyone in the Royal Court.

But right after you came back,

you humiliated me in front of all the officials.

You deeply hurt me.

It's not easy for Viceroy Long.

No.

I'm the only living member of Yanle's royal family.

Although I haven't done much

for Yanle these years,

now that I'm back,

I won't let Yanle become worse.

I'll end everything unjust.

Viceroy Long, you've been working so hard these years.

If you're tired,

let me handle everything.

I'll fulfill my duty as the princess

for Yanle and its people.

Enough.

Princess,

I'm tired today.

I'll consider your advice

about opening the granary.

Mutu.

Send the princess back.

Wait.

Opening the granary is a serious matter.

I can give you time to think about it.

But I have another request.

Go ahead.

I want him

to be my servant.

What is she talking about?

Ridiculous.

How is that possible?

What did you say?

You want the commander of the Dragon Cavalry to be your servant?

Are you crazy?

Don't be rude!

Princess.

Commander Mu has his duties

and is very busy.

Can I get you someone else?

No.

I want no one but him.

If you refuse

both of my requests,

I'll starve to death in the Princess's Mansion.

Mutu.

Mutu!

It's your honor that the princess

has chosen you to be her servant.

Remember.

You must serve her well

in the Princess's Mansion.

Viceroy Long…

It's decided.

Serve her well.

Understand?

[Princess's Mansion]

Princess.

You must be tired.

Have a foot bath.

Wait.

In this room,

we're all masters.

He's the only servant.

Let him do it.

Be gentle. Mind your attitude.

Bring it to me.

Take off my shoes.

Princess,

the commander shall leave if there's nothing else.

Wait.

Call yourself whatever you want when you're not here.

But in front of me,

you can't call yourself the commander.

Always remember that

you're a servant.

I'm done.

Wipe my feet.

Wait.

Take the water out.

Didn't you hear her?

The princess said...

Get lost!

Si Niang!

Who do you think you are?

How dare you order me around?

Mutu!

How dare you disobey Viceroy Long's order?

I didn't!

Viceroy Long ordered you to be my servant,

yet you still see yourself as a commander

and even beat up my maid.

Do you have any respect for Viceroy Long?

You've been the powerful commander of the Dragon Cavalry for too long.

It's easy for me to convince Viceroy Long

that you've become a threat to him.

I didn't mean it.

Please forgive me.

Si Niang.

Beat him back!

All right. You're even now.

Take the water out.

I can't stand that pariah anymore!

Please take back your order, Viceroy Long.

I don't want to be her servant!

How dare you laugh at me?

You misunderstood, Commander Mu.

I'm not laughing at you.

I'm just surprised that Longshuang Yueshu

is actually able

to back you into a corner.

Since Commander Mu can't stand such grievances,

why don't we do as he asked?

Remove the Dragon Cavalry from the Princess's Mansion

and let The Faceless in the city to keep an eye on her.

Who do you think you are?

How dare you laugh at me?

The Faceless are just a bunch of bandits in the desert

that everyone hates.

How dare you try to replace the Dragon Cavalry with it?

If it weren't for the sake of Viceroy Long,

I would have torn you into pieces to feed dogs!

Stop.

Mutu.

Are you trying to disobey me?

I dare not.

Apologize.

No need.

Commander Mu must feel unwell too.

Commander Mu.

Is your hand alright?

You…

You poisoned me?

Didn't you want to kill me too?

Commander Mu! Commander Mu!

Get lost!

Enough.

We have enough soldiers in the capital.

The Faceless should stay outside the city on standby.

No need for them to enter the city.

I was just joking.

My men listen to you, Viceroy.

Without your permission,

The Faceless wouldn't dare take any action.

Mutu.

You should learn to control your temper.

Don't

feel aggrieved just because I made you

that pariah's servant.

Remember your mission.

Monitor her every move.

Yes.

Man in White.

Commander Mu.

You may not get the antidote next time.

You may leave.

Commander Mu, how are you?

Go away!

You're so clueless.

You're of no use to me!

[Ah Bili]

Even a dog is better than you!

Sorry. It's all my fault.

Anything unusual about the Yong Embassy?

Nothing unusual for now.

Wang Kunwu and Yuchi Hua…

Have you looked into them?

Yuan Mo is smart

but can't fight.

He relies on the two of them

to handle the affairs in the Yong Embassy.

To deal with them,

we have to separate them first.

Figure a way out.

I can't stand them anymore.

Don't worry, Viceroy.

I got a plan.

[Yong Embassy]

Wake up.

What's wrong with you?

Wake up. Wake up.

Have you checked his identity?

Yes.

He's indeed from Yong.

[Travel Pass]

How did he end up here?

According to him,

he came to Yanle with a caravan.

He planned to bring some of Yanle's specialties back to Yong to sell,

but before he left Yanle's territory,

he ran into bandits.

They not only took all his money

but also beat him up.

Under tyranny,

it's normal for commoners

to become robbers.

He also said

he's sure they were The Faceless.

Thank you, Sifang Envoy.

You're welcome.

Your name is Qi Sanlang?

Yes.

I know what happened to you.

I'll negotiate with Yanle.

Any other requests?

I want nothing else.

I just want to return to Yong as soon as possible

and go back to my wife and children.

Please help me, Sifang Envoy.

Sir,

please get up.

Your family must be waiting for you day and night

to reunite with you.

Go back and have a good rest.

I'll seek justice for you.

Thank you, sir.

It's my duty to escort expatriates

back to Yong safely.

Kunwu.

Could you send him back to Yong for me?

Can't you see

it's the Man in White's trick?

The Faceless never leave behind any traces.

How could he have come back alive?

The Man in White wants to get rid of me,

so he can deal with you.

I know.

But I also know the pain

of being apart from one's family.

Whether it's the Man in White's trick or not,

I have to fulfill my duty as the Sifang Envoy.

Besides, all this time,

our enemies have been hiding in the shadows.

Now we finally have a chance

to hide you in the dark.

If you insist,

you can arrange for someone else

to escort that man back.

It's a long journey.

There will inevitably be accidents.

I can only trust you with it.

But I have to look out for you here.

Stop arguing!

I'll go.

You must take the official roads.

Don't take shortcuts.

It's dangerous.

And this water bag…

Check it regularly to see if it's leaking.

Got it.

You're nagging again.
