the

vast Association in the world

but I'm not really that peaceful at

least not always right now I'm calm

but yesterday in an outburst of Fury I

wiped out three or four Islands in about

as many boats yeah I don't know how this

one managed to escape unharmed

maybe it's because Rasputin is a good

captain

or perhaps because his crew is from the

Fiji Islands

or simply because today is tear away on

the day of surprises

[Music]

[Music]

ah you little trap don't come any closer

are you ungrateful she devil is that how

you thank me for saving both your lives

Kane he's alive Captain Rasputin come

quickly they're calling me but first

there's one thing you've got to

understand the only one who gets to hit

anyone on this boat is Lee

Captain Rasputin

well I'll be damned if it isn't croato

maltes the last time I saw him his boat

was much better

perfect opportunity to get rid of him

but I don't think that the monk would

appreciate it what a shame

well I'd appreciate it if you kept your

mouth shut cranial for good

so Corto trying to get a tan and of all

the sharks in the Pacific I had to run

into you Beggars can't be choosers can

they what happened to you we'll chat

later just get me out of here you might

try being a little nicer I could leave

you there you know true you could but

then you'd never know ah pull them out

so how did you manage to lose your ship

give me some water I give the orders

around here

help yourself

well Corto are you going to tell your

story or not it's a story about love

recipe about love and honor

a long time ago

I made a promise to a young woman

very sincere but unrealistic promise

well the girl was quite ravishing

as it turns out

my loyal boson was the young woman's

brother

he turned my men against me

and last night They seized all the

weapons and they didn't kill you damn

Savages they never finish what they

start they just wanted to try their luck

as pirates we can't blame them

after all they learn it from us

at least I know how to handle my men

what is it what are you staring at you

look tired raspy try shutting both eyes

when you sleep it would do wonders for

your personality

who are you

Pandora Grover sir as in the Sydney

grosvenors the wealthy family of ship

owners Thaddeus Grosvenor is my father

who gave you the black eye he was your

friend the captain did you say my friend

that's not how I would describe our

relationship let's just say we have

similar interests

[Music]

is that the ship captain that's right

where are the children

inside the cabin

strange it looks like a catamaran from

the Fiji islands they don't usually sail

this far west

maybe the hurricane forced them to

reroute they could be in need of help

look Captain they seem to be putting a

flag up it's getting Stranger by the

second the officer is white but his crew

is black Pandora

finally I thought you were never going

to wake up

don't worry Kane

picked up by a boat something's not

right with this crew I think they're

Pirates

huh

go on you get some rest there's

something strange about that boat

captain I have a bad feeling you remind

me of my sister Von hurt said she didn't

feel safe in Rotterdam she moved to a

small town near the German border

very bad choice because now with all

this talk of War she feels even less

safe than before

last I heard she doesn't even leave her

house anymore

for Marika

[Music]

good day captain

in the name of her Imperial Majesty I'm

taking possession of this ship and its

cargo

I believe you're transporting coal is

that right but you are not serious we're

not at War oh we're always a little

behind in the South Pacific it's

embarrassing don't you think so we

thought it would be nice to be ahead of

the game for once

Pirates of course Pirates how did you

guess

no

[Music]

no what was that

I don't know I think I'll go find out

what's going on

get back inside

murderer come on now there's nothing you

can do

throw those idiots into the Lifeboat if

they're lucky they might find themselves

an island you better do as he says van

hereden

you didn't have to kill him don't even

try to lecture me Koto I have two boats

now and you have none personally I

prefer My Method we were just supposed

to steal the cargo not kill people for

fun I never said it was fun we'll see

what the monk thinks about this the monk

No One Ever Knows what he's thinking now

get out of my way or you'll be sorry

[Music]

boat

[Music]

at least give us some water you won't

need it where you're going

Rasputin no

what matters is that we're alive

they know our parents are rich I'm sure

they're not going to hurt us

perhaps there's someone on board who

might be able to help

[Music]

I'm afraid came

completely out of your mind what did you

expect

it's too much at stake we can't afford

to leave any Witnesses I'll kill you

[Music]

kill you

well I do believe you saved his life

hook up the catamaran and let's go

[Music]

and put that idiot in Chains until he

calms down

[Music]

Captain Rasputin wants to see you

it's nice and cool up on deck and the

sea is very beautiful let's go then

it seems you need me for something

me need you I would never say such a

thing no you wouldn't you're too proud

but we'll be coming into kaiserine very

soon and if the Germans find the two

grossner kids they'll take them under

their protection and you can forget your

Ransom not necessarily trust me even if

you don't trust Cranium I don't trust

you either no of course not but I'm all

you've got

and you do need me

you can't fix everything with your gun

listen when we get to kaiserine I'll

negotiate the call with the Germans

while you take off in the catamaran with

the children all right if you agree

we'll share the ransom just you and me

and we'll leave the monk out of it what

do you think I think you're completely

insane the monk will find out about it

sooner or later

cranial makes sure of that no one can

trust cranio not even the Monk

[Music]

I figured it out I know where we are

we're near kaiseri a New Guinea that's

German territory exactly and as soon as

we see the Germans we can call out for

help

I Delta let us get near the Germans

we're from a rich family and they want a

ransom your cousin is very clever young

man

you've been lucky so far but if you

wanted to stay that way don't go getting

any smart ideas

especially you kid I'm sorry but you

don't know me and I don't like you

calling me kid wait a second if you want

respect you have to give it

otherwise tell with you

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

look it's kaisering

foreign

[Music]

Captain Rasputin would like to have a

word with you that's when Captain too

many don't you think Seder

block out the kids I'm off

[Music]

wait

[Music]

I'm gonna cast off we'll meet at the

mouth of the river as agreed you think

they'll break out the champagne I hate

it when they do that I'm only going to

protect our interests so no dirty tricks

understand dirty tricks me perish the

thought

[Music]

[Applause]

well what do you plan on doing with this

I'm taking you fishing

[Music]

[Music]

are you cold slutter

our coal has arrived that ought to warm

you up Captain Rasputin has carried out

his mission well that's the advantage of

dealing with professionals did you say

Professionals of course slutter you're

about to meet a real authentic pirate

you look shocked surprised more I didn't

think the Kaiser's Navy would choose

allies like that

you're no longer at the Academy

Slaughter you'll see soon nothing will

surprise you

welcome to kaiserine

[Music]

admirable spec regrets not being here

this evening but with all that's been

happening

you'll be dealing with me I hope you're

not disappointed on the contrary Galan

to our collaboration

you're not drinking Slaughter

the champagne is lukewarm

you can't be too picky to challenge in

this stinking country you take what you

can get

you agree with personally I like this

country and I like the champagne but Mr

Slaughter doesn't look very pleased does

he Slaughter never looks pleased but I

assure you he's Overjoyed all he needs

is just a little lesson on real politic

he's right though the champagne is

disgusting

but shall we move on to more serious

matters it's a pleasure to do business

with you galland

[Music]

[Music]

oh stop Kane that's enough

you stop

while Rasputin guzzle champagne we're

left in here to rot I can't believe this

that brute doesn't even know how to hold

a fork

[Music]

I can see you're a shellfish connoisseur

captain

not really but I do rather enjoy eating

crab now how about you lieutenant

Lieutenant Slaughter is sulking because

his chunk of books got lost somewhere

between you back and Surabaya the

general tragedy what kinds of books were

in the trunk

Gerta learn how mostly real care who if

I cried out would hear me among the

Angels hierarchies

I myself feel like crying out sometimes

more than 60 meters we could swim talk

to a German soldier and and you get shot

that's what and if the Germans are in

cahoots with these Pirates I seriously

doubt they'd risk everything just to

help us

unlike you Pandora are you scared or

what you know just do what you want but

I refuse to spend the rest of my life

just feeling sorry for myself Kane

When The War breaks out every single

German base will be neutralized

I won't have to fight without a two

torpedo boots

and with your submarine obviously the

war where waging isn't legal so we won't

be flying the German flag over the ships

but that's piracy call it whatever you

want

what's important is for Germany to show

The Arrogant English that the ocean

doesn't belong to them but how will we

get supplies for the crew and to refuel

the vessels Captain Rasputin has already

given us the Dutch Cola his organization

will provide the fuel into the cold What

About Us

what are we giving Captain Rasputin in

return the most precious thing after

friendship's letter pure gold gold

and your cooperation of course my

cooperation

[Music]

Kane

[Music]

evening Pandora

I thought you might want to talk a

little

just leave me alone

okay that's fine with me

Auto maltes

hold on I you were right I feel like

talking

I know that you're not gonna let us go

and that I won't make it all by myself

[Music]

Kane is too young but you

you're a man you're not scared of

Rasputin me oh believe me I'm scared of

Rasputin I'd be crazy not to be what are

you trying to say I

I what is this nonsense

that's enough I'm going no I I

stay please stay

you know what we're gonna do Pandora

we'll get out of here we'll go to Manila

we'll get married and forget about all

of this what are you doing oh will you

leave me alone

come on your little ax not working

Pandora what do you mean what little act

just who do you take me for huh to Nero

don't worry he's not her just consider

yourself lucky if Rasputin had been here

I must admit it was very brave of you

trying to escape like this

problem is I wasn't born yesterday and a

poor little rich kid like you isn't

Gonna Change My Mind

one day I'll kill you

what a night he really thinks you'll

kill me Cranium with that temper of hers

you never know

thank you

[Music]

Christ we stay here we'll get swept away

[Music]

ER my cousin and I were inseparable

Shipwrecked Lost in the middle of the

Pacific Ocean surrounded by unknown

islands and strange adults

when I met Corto I was still a child

it was in November 1913. you little trap

the Great War had not yet been declared

however on the catamaran that rescued us

led by that horrible Captain Rasputin no

one would have wagered a bottle of rum

that peace would Prevail those people

wanted War Pirates Sailors spies and the

military

get out of there hurry

[Music]

[Music]

Pandora where are you

okay

[Music]

Pandora

[Music]

[Music]

still here man Friday I am not man

Friday and you are certainly not

Robinson Crusoe

you speak my language yes

and I even have a name I'm taro

I was on the same boat you know about

Robinson Crusoe Miss Starr read it to me

she was a teacher in my Village while

you were asleep I had to look around

but I didn't see anyone I'm not

surprised I think Pandora is dead I'm

sure she's listen

[Music]

[Music]

ing oh yes

don't make us out let me do the talking

[Music]

[Music]

how did it go oh everything's fine the

beach in the jungle are just filled with

papoon cannibals this is a tourist

Paradise

hey don't look at me like that

so you think this is fun for me being

stuck here with somebody who just hates

me

well if it weren't for the cannibals

believe me I'd leave the place all to

you my little lovesick honey bun stop

seeing that it makes me sick to think

that Cain is dead in Europe

it's a group of papoons maybe the ones

who took cake that means well that means

that Kane's alive but they've taken him

prisoner

[Music]

you filthy liar why didn't you tell me

well maybe because I knew you'd react

just like this

God give me the gun you're too young for

this game

[Music]

oh

I thought you had died in the tidal wave

how did you survive did you swim Pandora

no

Corto maltes saved me I've drowned if

not for him and where was Corto now

I think I might have killed him

coming in this direction

oh wait don't

foreign

[Music]

don't scream Pandora don't be afraid you

you I am I know a lot of things

come and see

[Music]

um

killed him that would have been a

terrible shame why would you want to

kill him

[Music]

it's me cranio you

I killed one of their shamans and took

care of Corto but it won't work for long

I've prepared a canoe but I'm going to

need your help you want us to help Kane

and me most of all tarot I trust him

much more than you two after all you are

white

it's not a trap once cranial has used us

he could leave us to the cannibals he's

really counting on his Cane and on Taro

he thinks very highly of your navigation

skills I sure hope he's right

[Music]

[Applause]

[Applause]

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

[Music]

everything is much too quiet I have a

bad feeling about this

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

[Music]

well if it isn't gunpowder Pandora

what would you say to me just putting a

little hole in your head huh can

Pandora has been very brave

we're out of danger now how are you

Corto

[Music]

[Music]

go go

singing Tarot

the spin Fish song Oh you think fish

will suddenly appear just because you're

singing I don't think anything of a

sword I just thought submarine

carto where on earth have you been you

dirty bastard bastard hey takes one to

no one

it seems you called for me Mr slutter

yes Mr Montez

there's a delicate matter I'd like to

discuss with you it concerns the young

girl I want you to tell Rasputin to

please leave her alone why you're quite

big enough to tell them yourself don't

you think I was only trying to avoid a

dispute but if you insist well I really

wasn't insisting Lieutenant seems to me

the one insisting is you hmm

could you please explain to me why these

young people are traveling with you the

children were Shipwrecked and we picked

them up it's as simple as that a little

too simple for my taste

Lieutenant slutter seems like a decent

man I'm sure he'll help us get out of

this not so sure he's an officer he's

preparing for war

just because his eyes are blue

I apologize for disturbing you but I'm

perplexed

perhaps you could clarify a couple of

things

I would like to know why you didn't get

off the boat at kaiserine

are you being held prisoners

don't mind her lieutenant I'll tell you

everything

and when we arrived at Kaiser Corto

Martez took us Upstream so no one see us

tears aren't good they want a ransom put

that thing down are you spying on me

cordial me never no I just like you does

that bother you keep out of my way or

out or you'll what I'll kill you oh yeah

try

what in God's name do you want the boy

is telling everything to that Slaughter

character so what what's the difference

you think that Prussian will disobey or

it is to help two brats well now that

you put it that way maybe you're right

well you're so stupid it's not that hard

to be right

[Music]

do you really think I'm dumb enough come

on let's go and see if we can find

something to drink frankly I don't

understand you

why are you sulking I'm just trying to

get us out of this do you really think

that people like slutter Rasputin or

Corto maltes will let themselves be

manipulated by a 16 year old precisely

now that I've set them all against one

another I don't even need to manipulate

them you could thought of it yourself

since you're 17. that's right you're

smarter than everyone at least I'm

taking action sure but you don't care

about the consequences of your actions

alone alone by myself alone

alone in the middle of the vast ocean

then not a single Saint to pity my dying

soul and all those men those admirable

men all lifeless and dead while

thousands and thousands of hideous

things continue to live as I do

[Music]

foreign

bunny I couldn't find you well as far as

I know I wasn't lost I'm sorry for

having been so impulsive the other day

impulsive is putting in mildly you know

what I mean no what do you mean

me seriously

command of the sub

turned me to my father I knew all

millionaires were crazy but there must

be something in the ink they used to

print their dollars oh

now listen to me Pandora the best thing

you and your cousin can do is stay close

to me oh yeah and why is that

I'm your good luck charm

I wonder what the monk is going to say

about all this if you're referring to

the children the Monk's not going to say

anything at all

I'm the only one responsible for them

the only one

I wouldn't say that's an unpleasant

responsibility be careful Rasputin don't

forget who you're talking to who do you

take me for I know what you have in mind

I can see it in your eyes it's the girl

am I right

oh what's going on up there oh it's just

slutter and Rasputin fighting and I

think I know why

no

I swear I'll kill him he better watch

his back from now on sure sure in the

meantime you watch yours you could get

hurt

huh

I'll get you two quarto I'll get you all

[Music]

do you know what that flag is Mr maltes

of course it's the Monk's flag the king

of the sea it may seem absurd but I like

knowing who I'm dealing with what's the

name of that Island it's not on the map

Escondido the hidden island three

different fleets from different nations

tried to find it and never did I hope

you realize how lucky you are look

lieutenant

I suppose those are friends of yours oh

very good friends

they've come to prevent you from sinking

this tin can in the shallow water

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

the monk will be here soon

in the meantime if you need anything

anything at all don't hesitate to let me

know

[Music]

are you still angry no anyway I wasn't

angry I'm glad it wasn't worth it

[Music]

did you notice how polite everyone is

here I wonder what he's like it's a monk

well what do you think he's like he's

probably a pirate like the others like

the others don't put them all in the

same bag

puto maltes for example he's helped us

there's at least one good bone in his

body he could almost be our friend don't

you think

Kane

Talking to Ourselves now are we I just

passed him in the courtyard he looked

Furious I came to see if you wanted to

take a little tour it would give us

something to do while we wait for the

Monk

uh pretty girl

who is this monk the natives told Kane

he was 200 years old 200 years old I've

heard that too even I believe it

sometimes

it's not true he'll tell you the story

himself

you're not as mean as you make yourself

out to be

[Music]

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

[Music]

have you come to keep me company

what the hell is wrong with you

destroy my Hut don't you play the

innocent with me you know why what are

you talking about bastard you thought

you killed me I'll kill you one of these

days

morning at least not yet but I might

start now with you you pathetic liar you

were cleaning your gun when I came in I

know it was you think what you want to

think but the day I kill you it won't be

with a gun my hands will do

[Applause]

Auto Martez but but what you look like

you've seen a ghost I I why I don't know

what you mean

sprinkling

what are you doing in that get up it's

for misspandora she'll feel like she's

in a more civilized place don't you

think I'll get out of here you idiot

I know how you are you're just jealous

you wish you would have the idea of

yourself

[Music]

no it's me how do you feel lovesick

honey bunny

they told me that

that you saved my life

the only thing I want

to ask

what

please promise me you won't hurt Kane

[Music]

of course it's the Monk's flag welcome

to Escondido strangers who is this Monk

please promise me

you won't hurt Kane

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

greetings everyone

I have some interesting news dated

August 4th 1914. England has just

declared war on Germany consequently

we are also at War

I've already established two Supply

bases for the Germans monk I have

delivered the coal to kaiserine and I

also rescued the children that are worth

a fortune

but Koto Martez and Lieutenant Slaughter

have been extremely uncooperative the

boy and girl have nothing to do with

this I propose we'd drop them off on an

island in Fiji they shouldn't be

involved

no one

tells me what to do

no one I thought you were less impulsive

Mr Slaughter my order of your commander

you are at my disposal don't ever forget

it

what about you quarter maltes how did

you manage to lose control of your crew

and scooter

because of a woman

[Music]

and anyway being in control is not the

same thing as controlling oneself that

nevertheless it proved you are incapable

of taking command you are much too

individualistic Corto maltes

you're subversive

it's not necessarily a bad quality

but not a good one either

quarto you shall stay on the island with

cranio

you will prepare the vessels for

departure in two days

that will be all

[Music]

the monk never decided anything about

the children don't worry about them

they're worth a load of money they'll be

fine

but what about Rasputin Rasputin's quite

harmless just as long as I'm around

you know

regardless of what the monk thinks

I know you're a good Commander

a good Commander

who gives a damn

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

come on out

oh it's you so cranial you want me dead

too can I have a drink help yourself

since you're here

[Music]

since you white people came everything's

gone awry every race has its own magic

power that must be ours

we've put up with it until now but

personally I don't like the idea of my

people getting mixed up in your War

I don't think anyone likes Wars that's

why we're all so eager to share them at

the same time some good has come of it

because of your mess the melanesians are

finally trying to unite For the First

Time The Ephesians the Samoans the

tongas all of the people of the sea are

talking about it it's like sewing

together the pieces of a patchwork quilt

yeah

I hope you have a sewing machine because

if you have to do it all by hand

[Music]

you look tired I'll leave you alone

thanks for the drink

[Music]

[Music]

I have to find a way to get out of here

will you help me uh-huh we'll leave here

together when when it's time

you're too impatient

you don't care about anyone else

you're selfish it's always what you want

when you want it I ask you to help me

not to lecture me

[Music]

[Applause]

laughs

I didn't know Pandora was in the car

wanted me to take the blame you dirty

little rat

[Music]

that's enough Rasputin

I'm sure the boy had his reasons for

doing what he did

what's your name boy I'm Kane grovenor

sir

from Sydney

Brad Putin from now on I will hold you

personally responsible for Mr grovenor

who me but I your life depends on it

fine then

I'll do as you say Mom don't get upset I

now get out of my sight

[Music]

so then you're the son of Ellie grovenor

yes sir and Pandora is my uncle

thaddeus's daughter about tell me you

have another Uncle Renault isn't that

right yes that's right he's a commander

in the Australian Navy

there was also another Grosvenor named

Thomas I believe he died in a fire

the day Thaddeus married Aunt Margaret

but then you must know our family what

do you know about your uncle Thomas my

family

doesn't ever talk about it

did you know him

and Margaret your Aunt Margaret she died

giving birth to Pandora

Thaddeus raised raw by himself he adores

her

had any heart at all you would let him

know we're alive the heart is a muscle

that pumps blood to Cain not feelings

but but you seemed concerned I thought

don't think especially in front of me

I'm the only one allowed that privilege

[Music]

yeah

what happened that is very strange he

went inside looked at the girl and went

crazy

Watcher I'll go check it out

I don't understand

he wants to leave right now he's taking

you

it's not fair I've never seen him like

that better not leave him alone let him

be cranial I'll go

what happened to you back there monk are

you all right I saw the devil caught out

I saw the devil and I was afraid

don't leave me my friends don't leave me

no one's leaving you Monk but you on the

other hand you're leaving rasputiny and

why shouldn't I cranio is staying as

well he'll keep an eye on him cranio but

he's a human being you'll have to sleep

at some point Rasputin will get rid of

him the first chance he gets he'll make

off with all our money get in touch with

the British admiralty you'll negotiate

the girls in the ransom and then he'll

disappear what if I let you stay instead

could you take me four quarter maltes

why don't you tell me what's really on

your mind

I want you to come with me I don't want

you to stay here doing God knows what

with Pandora while I'm away oh so that's

it

don't laugh

again

great deal you'll take over for me while

I'm gone I want you to keep an eye on

Rasputin and make sure the children are

treated well

come on Lieutenant Soto it's time

[Music]

I wonder why we're all rigged out just

to go find some crabs on a desert island

I don't know who cares shut up Carson

if they want crabs why don't they come

get them I don't even like eating crabs

oh really well I happen to like them

hey look over there

we have been stopped by a German

submarine and by an armed cargo boat we

have been forced to follow them and at

the bottom it signed Private Perez

aboard the Bonito November 1914.

the Bonito huh she supposedly sang three

months ago filthy krauts where on Earth

are they getting their coal from all the

German islands are occupied but my

friend is a problem I'd rather leave to

the admiralty submarines in the Pacific

wait till the admiralty hears about this

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

it's beautiful out today yes beautiful

how are you Pandora

where's Corto maltes

hmm

don't worry Pandora is wounded but he's

in a safe place not far from here but

Rasputin mustn't find out a Lieutenant's

letter have you heard anything I do have

some indirect news they've already sunk

several English vessels in the port of

papeet and now he's purposely disturbing

Allied traffic along with the monk who

is this monk anyway

the Monk

the monk was originally a priest I mean

no actually he's an ex-protestant Pastor

who took the place of an excommunicated

monk or something like that

in any case it's better for us not to

have a priest on the island we believe

in our shamans and that's enough for us

so we put up with the Monk

like with Rasputin he's a brute and a

murderer

but he serves his purpose

as for Corto maltes

he's a worldly man and knows many things

but he won't face up to his

responsibilities

[Music]

[Music]

he wanted to alert the Japanese yes he

wanted to but then he changed his mind

isn't that right Kane not at all

[Music]

thank you

[Music]

hello anybody Here

this Island's taboo

we're in the middle of an initiation

right what do you want sorry Chief we

couldn't have known we only came to

gather fruits and crabs take all the

fruits and crabs you want but then

return to your ship

shh

I'll be who screamed what's going on

here I'm very sorry Lieutenant but if

the girl hadn't screamed I would have

been glad to have let you leave the

island but now

[Music]

don't be stupid we're the ones with the

battleship you would better

[Music]

well done cranial good job my friend you

see that there's nothing left the

missile must have hit the ammunition

dump yes what a shame a shame are you

joking the Germans should give us a

bonus for that but now it's time we gave

that stupid girl the thrashing she

deserves no one is getting a thrashing

Rasputin

you know what the monk said listen

cranio the monk won't live forever

understand you know what I hate about

you Rasputin

everything

you idiotic fool

oh

stupid cannibal

[Music]

oh

[Music]

on Earth did you get here

when did you uh-huh

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

foreign

everything's ready

there's no one on a beach it's now or

never

[Music]

it's not very big but we will make it

our food supply should last two or three

days but wait

what about says he's not dead he's

somewhere on this island but he's in bad

shape

if cortos wounded we can't abandon him

here with that crazy Rasputin you two go

I'm staying then I'll stay too no

no you must warn the admiralty so that

they send someone here

it's better this way Pandora

[Music]

[Music]

what are you still doing here what's

going on cranial is dead Rasputin yes

he's gone totally mad

Pandora left with Tarot

cranio told me that you were hurt

so I stayed behind for you for me really

does that mean we're friends now

anyway you made the right choice because

now

we're gonna have some fun you and I

they had embarked on three large boats

the commander of the fleet was named

tamatea his entire body was covered with

tattoos to get his bearings he would

watch the Flight of the birds and the

direction of the waves and the currents

at night he would watch the Stars he was

seeking an island when the water and the

air calmed down tamatea saw a long

bright Cloud on the horizon the sorcerer

not to arengi pushed the rowers to go

faster you think my story is ridiculous

don't you Pandora no not at all

[Music]

firm and solid it was aotearoa the

island your people called New Zealand

that time the beaches were filled with

giant birds tomatee and his men fought

them in battle and won the right to

occupy the land

now you know why the Maori people are

spread out among these islands

they're not afraid of the sea

then I shouldn't be afraid either

look they're amazing yes

and when they fly like that it means

there won't be any wind for a while

a shark it's Mao

he's been following us for a while

Don't Be Afraid Pandora Mao is our

friend he just wants a little company

you should try to get some sleep Pandora

but what about you me I'm not tired

hey shark

guide me to aotearo

guide me as you guided tamateo and Arawa

and our great ancestors before them

[Music]

my name is Pandora Pandora Grosvenor my

cousin and I were inseparable

Shipwrecked Lost in the middle of the

Pacific Ocean surrounded by unknown

islands and strange adults

foreign

was in November 1913. you little trap

the Great War had not yet been declared

however on the catamaran that rescued us

led by that horrible Captain Rasputin no

one would have wagered a bottle of rum

that peace would Prevail those people

wanted War Pirates Sailors spies and the

military

monk I rescue two children who are worth

a fortune the boy and girl have nothing

to do with this they shouldn't be

involved no one tells me what to do how

dare you laugh at me you don't know how

dare you

you'll take over for me while I'm gone

submarines in the Pacific Ocean

you idiotic fool

you two go I'm staying

the crew is ready for full inspection

lieutenant

[Music]

spit shine shoes are our priority right

now

what do you think sailor

it's just that the monk wants you sir

all right all right fine I'm coming

I've been trying to call Escondido for

the last three days but cranial is not

responding

I have the feeling something has

happened

what do you think me I think he just

refuses to talk to you refuses that's

impossible I'm the monk king of

Escondida you asked for my opinion and I

gave it so what's your plan now we'll

head for Escondido

so I guess we won't be sinking the port

Gambler what a pity a liner filled with

women and children

would have been one of our best Deeds

yet

you seem so bitter Lieutenant we're at

War and War kills people can't spare

lives just to satisfy your gentlemanly

soul

[Music]

shark I seek an island

can't be very far from here it's called

[Music]

Ranea we're here

[Music]

goodbye Mao

joa

[Music]

[Music]

but I had to crania wanted to surrender

to the Japanese I swear I had no choice

but to kill him I'm telling the truth

and the children the grosvenors they

disappeared we looked for them

everywhere but they're gone they just

disappeared

you and I need to have a little chat

what a shark you say that's right a

friendly one

I know Uncle Ronald it doesn't seem

possible but I swear it's the truth I

saw it with my own eyes that's absurd if

I told your Preposterous story to the

admiralty they'd laugh at my face what's

important is to find Escondida don't you

think

Taro can also navigate using the stars

and it will be dark soon

[Music]

mark

the English are going to be here soon

come on you know how they are

it'll take them months to find Escondida

whether Navigator like Taro if they

could be here any moment all right then

what do you suggest

we've got to abandon Escondida are you

mad this island belongs to me

the monk would rather die than run away

well die then impossible I've already

done that once

well I'm sure we can find a solution to

that you could have die and half run

away ah quote Oh that's what I like most

about you

you always see the humorous side of

things

I'm glad you're all in one piece quarter

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

[Music]

oh it's you evening good evening

Slaughter

German Fleet in the South Pacific

surrendered

I've done

I've done some terrible things and for

nothing here Germany's already lost the

war

I heard the governors disappeared yeah

Pandora got away and Kane is is in a

safe place I'm glad make sure that that

the monk doesn't find him how come

people talk more easily when they're

closed inside a submarine even the Monk

he told me some things regarding Kane

and Pandora and about their demented

millionaire family

[Music]

did I frighten you Kane a little

I didn't hear you coming the English

will soon be here we must leave the

island

you're coming with me you want to use me

as a hostage is that it not at all if I

take you along it's because I like you

you mean a lot to me Kane Pandora as

well but unfortunately she's no longer

here

Pandora

what happened when you went to see her

in her room

I saw someone I thought I'd never see

again

who

Pandora's mother

Margaret Aunt Margaret

yes my boy

I loved her

very very deeply tell me who are you

I'm the Monk and don't you ever forget

it

[Music]

huh

you seem disappointed Gordo

I often wondered who was beneath the

Monk's cloak

and now that I know

I'm not sure it makes life any more

interesting

must be snowing in my country in Lubeck

and here we're stifling

look at these young women and their

little skirts it would be a Pity to wait

until Autumn to keep them company don't

you agree

you're likable for a pirate I do what I

can Mr slutter

kind of likable yourself you're an

officer

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

well now that you finally have your new

kingdom

shouldn't you start thinking about

filling up the coffers no

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

he wanted to take me with him start to

try to prevent him

the monk shot him and then he ran away

I think he wants to take over the

submarine

[Music]

save my men

we can't let the English find him help

me

[Music]

thank you

[Music]

man he

he killed them all

no not yet not everyone it's still time

[Music]

I'm going to try to save your life

it's gonna hurt a bit but don't move

or you'll never appear in a vagnerian

Opera

bandage him up Kane we're taking the

Monk's yacht I'll go prepare it and meet

you back here but just do it I'll come

back and get you

thank you

[Music]

Taro you've come a long way from

cannibal to soldier in the New Zealand

Army I was never a cannibal my

grandfather was

so don't make me become one again

I know I was just joking

you'll be glad to know that Pandora is

safe and sound why wouldn't I be glad

Kane is safe and sound as well

so you should be glad too yes

now move it and don't try anything so

this is the new Tarot

[Music]

Rasputin you're going to a costume party

or what sprindling betrayed us he

brought the new zealanders here and made

himself King

[Music]

of Escondido that's absurd move on

[Music]

Corto maltes one at Lavalette you're an

English citizen when it's convenient I

want the world did you get mixed up with

this band of pirates what band of

pirates

they're friends to me you have a very

strange definition of friendship perhaps

but it makes life more interesting

mm-hmm

[Music]

move it you big pile of whale blubber

Tarot

I'm so glad to see you is Pandora yes

she's fine but she's still on board the

Destroyer

she should be landing soon huh good and

Corto mates

we know you're hiding the lieutenant of

the German submarine

nevertheless for obvious reasons the

admiralty demands that this man is a

lieutenant Lieutenant Slaughter

that Mr Slaughter be tried before a

Military Tribunal as soon as possible

if you take us to him then we will you

know what

I have the authorization to give you a

thousand pounds and a safe conduct I

guess that's inflation for you back in

the old days Thirty farthings was enough

take him away

[Music]

[Music]

foreign

[Music]

[Music]

Christian Slaughter you have been found

guilty of the following crimes piracy

treason murder sabotage and espionage

consequently the tribunal has sentenced

you to death

you shall be executed tomorrow January

19

1915. do you have anything to say

[Music]

go to hell all of you

only not a traitor grow up Pandora

you're not a child

Slaughter sank the Victoria with 15 men

aboard and several Merchant vessels

maybe that doesn't matter to you but it

is important to public opinion

the admiralty wants to make an example

of him

you do I'm

orders that were

do not believe in moral principles

Pandora I prefer laws and facts

will you please answer my question

what do you want me to say I'm not the

one who has been sentenced to death

the only thing that I can do is

is to authorize you to see him

[Music]

stop looking at me with those pathetic

eyes

I know you're not a pirate or a traitor

I'm not too fond of those accusations

but I understand their point of view

after all I could have refused to obey

orders I could have but there were

principles

and traditions

all that rubbish

prisoner Slaughter

it's time

if you want to confess the chapter

confess what having obeyed my

Commander's orders

there's no point in prolonging this

hypocrisy

I'm ready

miss grovener you shouldn't stay around

for this it's nothing a young lady

should Witness

I'm staying

[Music]

duty to inform you that Commander

Grosvenor has withdrawn the accusations

of treason and murder

you'll thank him for me won't you since

I won't be able to myself

can I have a last word with the German

Sailors captain

[Music]

oh

come on my command name and Fire

[Music]

[Applause]

it's all over grovenor I'm not deaf good

because I need to talk to you Renault

now that the crowd is dead I can tell

you you've made a big mistake

withdrawing the accusations of treason

and murder public opinion wants someone

they can blame and if you don't give

them Slaughter they'll demand someone

else's head like yours for example

so what do you suggest

Slaughter has nothing to worry about now

let the accusations remain

you were trying to be generous and

that's fine but think of the living

first of their careers

in one year you'll be rear Admiral don't

mess it up

[Music]

you again you haven't left yet no

but I'll go as soon as you free Rasputin

the islands lost its charm with all

these soldiers you can't be serious

Rasputin must be tried before the

tribunal and sentenced to death you

already got Slaughter that's enough

leave here immediately

you're too eager to execute people you

don't even know Grosvenor on the other

hand it seems you're much more lenient

when it comes to family

what are you talking about

I'll tell you a story sure you find it

interesting once upon a time there were

four brothers let's call him Ellie

Thaddeus Renault and Thomas grovner

Thomas was deeply in love with a woman

her name was Margaret but Margaret was

promised to Thaddeus shut up you bastard

yeah

[Music]

want to hear the end

your brother Thomas grovner is also the

Monk and Pandora's real father

that's why you're gonna free Rasputin so

the admiralty won't find out I don't

believe this you're blackmailing me why

of course what do you expect

hey handsome

we're leaving

you and I and I mean for good

oh come on Rasputin don't give me that

look I did it for Slaughter enough for

you but what's done's done so you're

coming with me period Well if you put it

that way

I do kind of like you after all I'll

never forget what you did for me from

now on you're my best friend me

I'd rather be friends with a tarantula

why you we're taking the Monk's yacht

we've got to get out of here before

Grosvenor changes his mind you never

know these military types say one thing

or do another we'll leave with the tide

then

whoa hold it

if I say so

[Music]

thank you

Corto hi I wanted to ask you

will you let me come with you

what is no problem you're the best

Navigator I know

they're setting sail already

well come on what's keeping you

I'd rather stay here I don't like

goodbyes

foreign

[Music]

she's dying to come and say goodbye to

you but I know she won't

hey there lovesick honey bunny

[Music]

hello Corto maltes you look beautiful

Pandora

you make me think of a Tango I once

heard in Buenos Aires perhaps you were

with someone who looks like me no not at

all you don't look like anyone else and

that's why I like you

I won't be going with you Corto maltes

yes I know

farewell Pandora farewell

farewell Kane why farewell we live in a

big house in Cape Cod with an enormous

gate you'll find it easily and I extend

the invitation to you too corso and to

any one of your friends

goodbye friends goodbye

[Music]

that rotten little brat don't pretend

you didn't notice

invite me because he invited you what do

you think to any one of your friends

means

that you'll invite me no I never said

that

[Music]

thank you
