Got a steer drawn here,
and each cowboy knows...

They have to compete on
for one hour

before each performance.

They're in the chute,
barriers up, all set to go.

Harry Cliff nods his head,
overtakes his steer,

he comes down the lines, slides
from the back of his horse,

catches the steer by the horns,

starts sliding him to a stop
as he brings him around,

reaches for the nose
on the steer

and he had it to the ground
in seven.

Man 2: Death break Billy Daven
and Blue Roberts.

The biennial
bull-riding event,

the most dangerous
and spectacular event in rodeo.

The cowboy will pit his strength

against an animal weighing
approximately 2000 pounds.

A cowboy may use one hand
and one hand only.

The other hand must remain free
of himself

and the bull at all times.

In the bull-riding event,
the cowboy

must not have to spur the blow,

but if he can find time
and choose to do so,

then he'll mark that much hard.

In the primary
bull-riding event,

a cowboy will risk
life and limb.

McCloud.

Man 2: And we'll ride along...

That doesn't make any sense to
me at all. It's all a hogwash.

Why? Why do I have to baby-sit
a whole rodeo?

Well, it sure ain't my idea
of a trainin' program.

I'm supposed to be here studying

your fancy metropolitan
police methods.

Well, I'll give you

You know, for the last 48 hours

while I've been ridin' herd
on those cowboys,

the rest of the city's just
been crawlin' with felonies.

There's been five homicides,
three hit-and-run,

six assault
with a deadly weapon,

a 205, a 305,

all those women
killed in the park.

There's all kinds
of criminal action.

But not one bar busted up
by rodeo riders.

Lieutenant, are we gonna

your friends from the farm

peaceful and quiet,

who's been operating around

She wasn't a novice
in decoy situations.

like the back of their hand.

that a stakeout is warranted

but I didn't kill him for it.

to kill him than Blue.

Billy hit him awful hard
in that bar.
