of this kind of caliber.

So I thought of you when I saw the car.
It's a little bit more subtle.

If you keep looking,

you just keep seeing little,
tiny differences from the standard car.

But, right now, Ryan's the only buyer

that we were able to conjure up
on short notice.

And we'd love to sell this car today,
right here, right now.

Because we really need
the profit from this Chevelle

to supplement the cost
of our big Ferrari build.

about doing a commission build,

you know, from the ground up.

Never would've thought of a Chevelle.

But... the way this all came together...

...this looks amazing.

That Chevelle is a surprise.

It is not what I was expecting,
but I love it.

This build was more custom,
but not over-the-top.

Just my kind of style.

And this is fantastic.

All the detail work
that's been done to this car,

the shaved drip rails
really came out clean.

Those little touches helped
make the overall package. I love it.

[Shawn] Man, that was a toss-up
there for a second.

Yeah, but you know what?
I knew as soon as I fired up that car

and he heard all that American muscle,
it'd make this deal go through.

-[Nick] Let's do some paperwork.

You know, at 60 grand, we're bringing in
a little over 33 grand in profit.

That'll give us a nice pot of money
to work with on the Ferrari project.

Man, this was worth it.
All the work that you put in pays off.

[Shawn] Now that we have the Chevelle sold

and we can focus all our energy
into the Ferrari build,

Mark wants to sit down with me and Nick

and talk about
a plan for selling that car.

Let's talk about some business now.

What are we gonna do for the Ferrari sale?
You talked about it, you been thinking.

Now that I have a vision
of how I'm gonna put this car together,

I am very confident that this car is gonna
be worth upwards of 200,000.

[Nick] Yep, should be.

[Mark] And obviously we want this car
to kick down the door with Nick's clients

and establish the shop
to show them what we can do.

So, I think the way to sell this car
is to get all those people together

at an event for the car.

Oh, you're talking about, like, a car show

or... or you talking
like a auction or something?

No, I'm talking bigger.

This is the most prestigious car
we've ever built at the shop.

So, in my opinion,
we need to do something special for it.

I want something extremely exclusive,

and we just do an unveiling

that is specifically designed
to focus on our car

with all the clients standing around it.

Getting all of these clients to see
the car in person at the same time

will create a totally unique environment
for selling the car.

We set it up at a winery.

And we just give them dinner, drinks.

-Wine 'em and dine 'em.
-And then... Exactly.

And then we unveil the car.

A few years ago, we did a virtual auction
to sell the concept vehicles.

[Shawn] I got Dan at 175.

-Here you are. 180 right here.
-[Shawn] 180 to Alex!

[Mark] And the fact that our buyers
couldn't all be in one place at one time

totally created a disadvantage
for selling the car and the bike,

and the bids fell short.

Two twenty-five. That's it.
That's as much as I can do.

[Mark] Nothing beats live and in person,

so people can gawk over the car
and compete to get their hands on it.

'Cause that's gonna give us
the best chance

to get the big money for that car.

-That's actually pretty... I like that idea.
-Yeah. I like the idea.

The only problem I see is
all these guys are on crazy schedules

and... and gettin' them all
in the same place at the same time...

-That's gonna be kind of tricky.
-Yeah.

The only thing I can think of is
if we tie this in with an existing event,

something where
they're coming into town anyway,

and we can draw them away for the evening.

Uh, the one that jumps to mind
is the LA Auto Show.

All the guys are coming in
from all over the country.

They wanna come see the prototypes,
the latest models, the latest technology.

They'll be here.

Isn't that show like
two and a half weeks away?

Well, therein lies the problem.

Any other events, maybe a little bit later
down the road they might all be in town?

[Nick] Nothing till
the middle of next year.

I mean, two and a half weeks
is a very short timeline,

but if that's the only time
your guys are gonna be in town,

then we're just gonna have to do it.

Can we get the car done?

Hey, we did the XNR in three weeks,
and now we got Brian and Jake in there,

-so I don't see any reason why not.
-Well, that's true. Okay.

[Mark] So, you guys
really gotta work this thing.

Get as many
high-end clients there as possible,

so we can guarantee
we'll get 200 grand for this thing.

And I'm gonna leave you all the details,
and I'm gonna go get to work.

Two and a half weeks isn't
the fastest timeline we've ever been on,

but this Ferrari needs to be one
of the most handcrafted cars we've built.

I want this car to be a collage

of all the best design features
of Ferrari's history.

We're gonna take inspiration
from some of their best F1 cars,

supercars, and Le Mans cars

and apply those parts
and pieces all on this one car

to create our own
personal homage to Ferrari.

But this is a very bold move.

It's almost unheard of for a shop
to modify a Ferrari in this way.

And even though Nick's client base has
expressed interest in a modified Ferrari,

this is a purist crowd.

So, they may initially balk
at the overall modifications,

but if we can be absolutely perfect

with our design elements
and craftsmanship,

I think we'll be able to win them over.

[music ends]

So this is gonna be the front spoiler,
and it will mount up underneath here.

Okay.

[Mark] And then, on this side,
we're gonna cut this piece off

'cause this is gonna step out.

So when this is out here
floating in space,

you have to connect that down into here.

-Little bit of Formula 1-style front wing?
-[Mark] Yep.

Ferrari's probably got
the best track record in Formula 1.

They dominated it for decades.

And since these collectors
love Ferrari's racing history,

I wanna build out this front spoiler
in that same F1 style.

What do you think that piece is worth?
Five grand, ten grand?

[both chuckling]

If I know one thing about Ferrari buyers,

they are aficionados
when it comes to Ferrari's history.

We're gonna have to tape it
exactly square on the car.

So, I'm betting this is a feature
they will immediately recognize.

So, tell me when I'm even stephen.

[Tony] More to my side.

-That's pretty close.
-[Mark] Tape... Tape yours up right there.

It's definitely gonna
suck your eyeball down

when you look at this,
especially when it's on the ground.

Yeah, I like it.

[Mark] We can start
sculpting the side pieces

and get it carbon fibered together.

-Sounds good. I got it.
-[Mark] Sweet.

[dramatic music playing]

[Tony] Look, obviously,
this two-and-a-half-week timeline

is gonna be tough,

but my bigger concern
is the type of work we're doing to the car

within that timeline.

We're making pretty major
body modifications to a Ferrari,

and you're just not supposed to do that.

Dude, that is gonna look like
it was actually made for the car.

Yeah. So we just need to glass this in,
and we're almost done.

[Mark] There you go.
Well, done with the front.

For sure.

[chuckles]

[Tony] This is a sacred car.

If any of these changes seem out of place

or they just don't flow with the car,
we're screwed.

Once it's done, it's done.

And we definitely don't have the timeline
to back our way out of any big mistakes.

It's all dry. Once we blend the paint in,
it's gonna look flawless.

Yep. I think it'll mesh together
with that front spoiler

pretty well when it's finished.

[Tony] It almost looks like
a factory piece.

[Jake] It fits good.

Well, now that
we got the front done, next up,

I wanna get those front
and rear cameras installed.

-We'll start prepping the quarter panels.

Exactly. So, we're gonna throw
a big party at one of the wineries

and unveil the car to everyone.

How cool is that?

Once you said party, I was all in.

Now, that's what I like to hear.

[Nick] You've really gotta
experience this car in person

to understand what the shop is capable of.

if I can free up some time in my schedule.

Now that we have
a plan in place for selling this car,

Nick and I are calling all our contacts

and trying to get
as many clients as possible to this party.

It's gonna be
the ultimate Gotham Garage Ferrari.

I mean, you've seen my collection.

Shops don't modify Ferraris like this,
so it's really gonna be one of a kind.

[Shawn] We've really gotta
stack the deck in our favor

because if I know anything about Mark,

it is a must
that we hit that $200,000 price.

Right now, we're looking to get
200 grand on this car,

but that's just a ballpark.

[man 5] Yeah,
that's a good amount of cash.

Obviously, I'll need to see the car first.

When he gets a price stuck in his head,
he can be very stubborn.

Case in point, the virtual launch
from a few years ago.

One thirty-five right here.

He was adamant about getting
250 grand for that car and bike.

And even though it only fell short
by 25 grand, 225...

-Yes.
...he still wasn't willing to settle.

It's not enough. It's still not 250.

[Shawn] It's gonna be worth it, trust me.

You know, the more people
we can get to attend,

the better chance we have
of selling this Ferrari for 200 grand.

a great response to the party,

that could really push things

Um, the reason for my call is

we're in the throes

but it's not like
any 360 Spider you've ever seen.

Nice. That's interesting.

He's got his own collection.
He's a big heavy hitter.

We're actually going to unveil it
at... at an event.

in conjunction with the LA Auto Show.

It's a bit of a long shot
because I know Andy's such a busy guy,

but having someone like Andy
at the party could be huge for us.

[Constance] While Mark, Tony, Brian,
and Jake start prepping the fab work

for the rear of the car,

Caveman and I are gonna install
the front and rear cameras.

These are very tiny.

[Constance] Yeah.

I don't know how the hell
you want me to do that.

[Constance] This isn't necessarily
a throwback to Ferrari's design history,

but it's something that we've added
to high-end cars here in the past.

[Caveman] Look at that.

[Constance] The front and rear cameras
will connect to the rearview mirror,

and it's not a feature that came stock
on these Ferraris when they were built.

So, this essentially gives it
a modern Gotham update,

which will add value to the car.

[Caveman] All right.

All right, let's see if this works.

How do I look?
Does the camera really add ten pounds?

[Constance laughs]

Is it as good-looking as I am?
What do my tonsils look like?

[Constance] No.

-Other than that, it's okay?
-[Constance] I think this totally works.

So, let's button this up and start helping
the guys on the rear fenders.

[Mark] Now that you guys are all suited up
and ready to go into battle,

the gelcoat set, so now we'll
put the fiberglass over the top.

-[Tony] Make our mold?
-[Mark] Make the mold.

One of the biggest changes
we're making to this car

is we're gonna exaggerate
the rear quarter panels.

The idea behind this
is to make the rear of the car

look more like
the Le Mans cars of the '60s.

Old Le Mans cars

were some of the most popular
and timeless body designs

ever made by Ferrari.

The whole point was
to make the car still look sexy,

but make it as aerodynamic as possible

because this is an endurance race,

so you need every speck of gas
to go as far as it possibly can.

-Long strips are for the top...
-[Tony] 'Kay.

...and then the little strips
are for inside this pocket.

Make sure that
the hair goes underneath the car.

So, fuzzy side under.

[chuckling] Fuzzy side under
and we'll be fine.

[tense music playing]

[Jake] With a super high-end car
like this Ferrari,

these are some
of the most beautiful cars in the world,

and the flow, the lines,
the aerodynamics of these cars,

it's hard to look at one and come up with
something that you could change.

[Tony] This is definitely
a highlight of my career now.

[Mark chuckles] Yeah.

[Tony] Nobody would ever let us borrow
their Ferrari to make some body molds.

-You have to rent one. And then do it.
-[all chuckling]

If you really look at a Ferrari,
there isn't very many body lines.

Everything is round
and smooth and perfect.

-Everything just flows.
-[Brian] Yeah.

The best body shapers in the world

had their hands in designing the Ferrari.

So, it's basically like
making changes to a famous sculpture.

If your work doesn't match perfectly,
it's gonna stand out.

[epic music playing]

[Tony] Okay.

[Mark] All we gotta do
is start laying some carbon fiber.

This carbon fiber is so easy to shape.

It's definitely the best way to give it
that rounded form like the Le Mans cars.

A high-end client,
they can really appreciate

the amount of work
and the craftsmanship that goes into it.

[Tony] That's what clients
at this level want.

-They want the thing that nobody else has.
-[Mark] Right.

The ramifications
for this Ferrari project are massive.

If we knock the build out of the park
and impress this crowd,

it'll potentially make us the go-to shop

within Nick's circle of clients.

But that's a big if.

All right. Moment of truth.

Ferrari collectors are some of the most
discerning buyers on the planet.

So our work needs to be hyper meticulous.

-[Jake] Look. That came out perfect.
-[Mark] Let's go get it installed.

Any of our potential buyers
will pick this car apart,

unlike anything we've ever built.

[Tony] Yep, I'm gonna tear.

[Mark] Good job, bro.

[Tony] It's coming out pretty nice.

All the little things we do
to finish it up will make it nicer.

Yeah. We're getting pretty close
to the finish line here,

so tomorrow,
we can start body work on the car.

So the place I locked up,
you know, we're talking short notice,

but I think I've got
the perfect place for us.

They've got
a really nice courtyard that'd be

-the perfect setting to stage this car.

have done just about everything

we can to create
some major buzz around this party.

an amazing winery to host the event.

We could do the event at night.

feel like this is a one-of-a-kind event.

But the fact of the matter is,
this car is still a huge swing for us.

I'm confident in the shop's ability,

but a modified Ferrari's
just something you don't see every day.

So, it could either be
a game changer for the garage

that gets us
some serious traction with my clients,

or it could be a spectacular failure.

It's... It's pretty unique.
You're gonna like it.

I can guarantee you
you'll be the only guy in town with one.

[Nick] We're putting it all
on the line with this party,

and we're gonna find out
almost immediately

if there's a market for this kind of car
within my world of collectors.

all the primer on it,

all we gotta do is sand the car,

and then I can get this thing painted,

and we can get it put back together

in time for the special event
that we're taking it to.

Historically, Ferrari is known as
a company that builds handcrafted cars.

And I want this car to be no different.

That's why we're handling
all of the bodywork here in house.

This is the whole bag of chips.

This is where we find out
if we belong or not.

This body work needs to tie in
all of our modifications

with the original body lines
of the Ferrari.

And it all needs to flow seamlessly.

We need to take our time and finesse this
so that it all comes out perfect

because the bodywork shows through paint.

So, when all of these high-end buyers
show up to see this car unveiled,

it needs to seem like this car

came straight from the main
Ferrari factory in Maranello, Italy.

about the guest list?

Have they got the event filled up yet or...

-It sounds like they got a ton of people.
-Yeah?

Let's just say, for their sake,
it better be a packed house.

It only takes one person
with a lot of money,

but the odds are better

This is some big-time stuff

an homage to Ferraris of the past,

it's now time to make it undeniable

that this car was built at Gotham Garage.

I'm going bright green
with this car for two reasons.

For one, nothing screams
Gotham Garage more than green.

And two, no Ferrari ever built
came standard in this color green.

It's the perfect color
to make it stand out

as a one-of-a-kind,
Gotham Garage modified Ferrari.

That carbon fiber
looks good against that green, don't it?

I think Mark's idea
to create a collage of different Ferraris

really came together nicely,
but this car is far from done.

I got a pattern for this.
I was gonna make an insert.

We still need to add a bunch
of Gotham Garage signature pieces

that I cut on the water jet.

And we're also doing
all the fine detail work

that will make this car
feel totally handcrafted.

How's the guest list going?
Are we doing good on people showing up?

Damn good response.

Oh yeah.

[Tony] At this event we're throwing,

these buyers are gonna
put this car under a microscope,

and this is the meticulous work
that they're gonna be looking for.

[Mark] You're doing
a good job getting filthy.

[Nick] This in the dry-cleaners again.

[Mark laughs] Nick's the only guy
in the world that dry-cleans his overalls.

you really get excited
for the potential it shows for the shop.

about this car to get everybody energized,
get the momentum going,

and if we can't garner interest tonight
and get it sold,

we're gonna lose all of this momentum.

Trying to get $200,000 for this car
down the road, that's gonna be hard.

I was really hoping he'd make it
because I think he'd be into this car.

to buy it on the spot if he liked it.

Tell me about your car.

So, basically, we've taken this 360 Spider
and modified it quite a bit.

The concept was to take elements
off of Ferraris from the past

and incorporate 'em into this car.

We actually stretched the fenders out.
So this is all carbon fiber.

-Where does the carbon start?
-The carbon starts up here.

-So, that's original aluminum.
-[Andy] Detailing there on the vents.

Yeah, Tony made all
the water-jetted copper that you see.

We dented the hood in
to give it a little more sexiness.

-Yeah, like that old Cobra coupe.
-Yeah.

So, we put
the carbon fiber splitter on the front,

put the carbon fiber canards on it...

[Andy] Mm-hmm.

...and then we're running
big 20-inch wheels, right?

-So they're rose gold.
-[Andy] Gotcha.

From the onset, Andy's been my first
choice as to who to sell this car to.

First thing I notice is right here,
where these two meet.

[Mark] Nobody knows
that belt line right there exists.

[Nick] He's an incredibly
high-profile client,

and getting our Ferrari
into his collection would be massive.

[engine revving]

But he knows these cars inside and out,
and he's gonna be incredibly particular.

[Mark] The thing about Ferraris,
everybody's scared to touch 'em.

Yep.

That's not Gotham Garage.

We're not scared to touch nothing,

and what better way to show the world

who we are and what kind of shop we are
than to cut into a Ferrari?

It's a pretty bold move.
Uh, most people wouldn't do it.

It's just an inherent risk.

Are you making it better
or you making it worse?

And that... that's one of the reasons
that brought me out here,

because you guys had the balls to do this,
and you had the wherewithal

to make a car out of it that works.

One thing I do like about the car
quite a bit is the color is genius.

-Job one. I got one right.

The details are great. I like everything
you've done styling-wise with the car.

With that in mind,

what are you... what are you
asking for the car?

220,000 is the price.

[smacks lips]

Well, uh,

I can't... I can't go that high.

I think I'm more around
the range of about $160,000.

Now, I mean what you're paying for

is the customization
that Gotham Garage delivered here.

Plus you're investing in our shop.

I mean, this is a Gotham Garage,
this is our first Ferrari,

you know,
but it's not gonna be the last, obviously.

I know I'm investing in your company,

and investing in the shop itself
with buying this car,

uh, but there's risk on both sides.

It could be very popular.

It could be less popular.
So I'm taking a risk.

You guys are taking a risk
on both sides of this.

You know, with all the effort
we put in this car,

it would stand out
even in your collection, am I right?

Yeah, it definitely would.

I like what's been done,
but from a sheer business standpoint,

the value of this car, it's Andy.

when it comes to these cars.

Plus, we'd still stand
to make a profit of about 70 grand.

Not to mention what it'd mean

What's giving me pause right now

is Mark's history
of being stubborn on prices.

Once he gets that price stuck in his head,

it's almost impossible to get him off it.

You know what? I think that, uh,

nobody else is gonna cut into a Ferrari.

Only Gotham Garage
is gonna cut up a Ferrari

and try to make a better car out of it,

and I understand where you're at
and your comfort zone.

But I think that, uh, 20 grand,

to me, is worth the price of admission
to get into this world.

And I think we should take the money.

A front-engine V12, 540 horsepower.

-[Shawn] Are there seats?
-[Mark] I was checking.

[Nick] It's got seats.
It's got a trunk lid.

-[Mark] I like it.
-And a rear bumper. Nice.

You got my interest piqued. I guess it
really comes down to what's the deal.

The deal on this car
is that it comes with that.

-[Mark] It comes with the other Ferrari?
-It comes with that. Uh-huh.

-We're gonna buy two Ferraris?
-Yep.

This is a Ferrari 458.

So, it's the newer version
of the 360 that we did.

So the two cars,
the asking price is about 350.

-[Mark] That's a lot of money.
-Yeah.

He'll do us a deal and I think it'll
come in about 290, maybe 300.

-Wow.
-That's a dent.

Look, I can understand why Mark and Shawn
would have immediate sticker shock.

But word got around about the Ferrari,

and my phone has been blowing up
since the party.

The last Ferrari was only 75 grand.

And that was a killer deal.

But we don't have the luxury
to wait six months or a year

for the next car to come along,
and we should build on the momentum.

We're finally at a place
where the Gotham Garage name

carries some weight
within this high-end car community.

Ferraris, Lamborghinis,
Jaguars, you name it.

I told them this is where
I could take the garage.

And now they can't pull the trigger?

Once you build a car like that Ferrari,
with this kind of clientele,

you gotta strike while the iron's hot.

[Mark] Two seems pretty aggressive.

What's the possibility
of splitting the deal

and just buying
the blue car to start with?

The deal comes as the two cars.

For us to get that kind of discount,
it would be on both.

We go sideways on any one of these cars,

and it's not something
you work your way out of.

This is something you go broke on.

[Nick] But that's the game
you wanted to play.

That's the playing field
you wanted to play in.

That's a lot of money. I mean,
we're gonna have to dip into our savings

on top of the money
we made with the Ferrari.

Absolutely. I mean,
I'm putting my share in.

I mean, I'm used to jumping in dumpsters
to get deals going down the road,

and now he wants $300,000.

We've had deals one-tenth
of the amount of this go sideways

and create major setbacks for the garage.

This is a big risk.

I think the risk
is mitigated by the last car.

Seeing that no one else
is doing this kind of thing

and stepping up again.

If you don't dare, you don't win.
