inspired Corvette is a super custom,

six-figure build for Jason Oppenheim.

Let's pull it off the trailer for him,
so you get the real effect.

we've been after for years.

-[Mark] There you go.

[Shawn] But he's been very hands-off
throughout the process,

and this is the first time
he's seeing the finished car.

[engine starts]

We're obviously confident in the work,

but if we could get
a glowing seal of approval

from a client as prestigious as Jason,

it could be huge for the shop.

Now you wanted custom,
and we gave you a custom.

[Mark] Yeah, we tried to go big.

So this is all carbon fiber fiberglass
and steel, the whole car.

-Looks like you guys lowered it a bit too.
-A lot.

So we tried... I tried to think
about form and function.

The feel I tried to give you was that
"old meets new" like we talked about.

Power windows, power seats,
air conditioning, everything you wanted.

It's all like a brand-new car underneath
with all the new technology.

Go ahead and open up the door.

[Shawn] It's a custom fit.

You just press this engine start button?

[Mark] Yup. You turn the key on,
hit the button, and it fires right up.

[Shawn] Fire it up.

You said you wanted efficiency,
and you got it.

It's reliable
and it's comfortable to drive.

So the big question is,

did we hit the mark or not?

[Jason] Well, guys...

...I wanted like a really cool hot rod,

and you guys really knocked it out.

Super one-of-a-kind, super custom.

-You guys...

-It's really gonna be just a fun car.

Jason is the kind of guy
who's seen everything.

All the high-end cars,
luxury builds, exotic builds.

-I wanna show some of my agents.

So for him to look at this car
and be this excited about it,

that's really what we've been looking for
from these high-end clients.

[Shawn] This is Jason's new toy.

Yup.

And at a 100 grand budget,
we take home 55 grand in profit.

That is a huge payday for us.

I guess I gotta wire you guys

You said this was a cash deal,
I don't know.

Now that we've delivered
the Corvette to Jason,

it's time to focus all of our attention
on moving this Lincoln Zephyr forward.

[Tony] I like this front suspension, man.
This is really nice.

This is race car stuff here.

[Mark] This build is for Speedway Motors,

and it's set to be unveiled
at the Goodguys Southwest Nationals,

which is about a month and a half away.

But so far, we're feeling really good
about hitting that deadline.

Me and Tony, we've already finished
all of the major fabrications.

We've modified the body

and turned it into
a super unique parts delivery vehicle.

Plus, we've sent Joe,
at Speedway Motors, some updates,

and he's loving the progress.

But the next stage of this build

is all about getting
the car running and driving.

Is there anything else in there,
Caveman, but Caveman?

-There's just a Caveman.
-Just a Caveman. Okay.

Send it back to the North Pole.

First step is adding
this badass suspension to the Zephyr.

-[Tony] I'm gonna need some tape.
-[Constance] Return to sender!

-He got away!

[Mark] Houdini escaped the box.

Now all we gotta do is
put it together and weld it in.

[Tony] Some assembly required.

[Mark chuckling]
Lots of assembly required, apparently.

In talking to Joe, at Speedway Motors,

they've never taken
one of their G-comp suspensions

and put it on a Zephyr.

So me and Tony
had to work very closely with their team

to get full specs on everything.

Joe's actually gonna be stoked
at how it goes together.

[Tony] He's gotta like it, and I guarantee
they've never seen another car like this.

[Mark] This suspension is used
mostly on muscle cars and race cars,

so to put that on this car,
it's gonna be badass.

It'll be a Sedan Delivery on the outside,

but it'll handle
like a race car underneath.

[Tony] Dang, those are
some big ol' brakes.

Look at those rotors.

[Mark] This is just another way
to get this car to stand out

at the Goodguys Car Show.

But after this, our next big goal
is to get the motor installed.

I wanna go super custom with that motor,

so if we can get it in
and get it fired up,

that'll be a huge milestone
for this build.

The motor is gonna be here in the morning,

so everybody get here nice and early
and be ready to rock.

This Zephyr is gonna handle
like a full-blown race car.

I don't know about that,
it's kind of long.

-[Tony] Well, you know what else is long?

So, obviously,
the Corvette build for Jason went great.

And more importantly,
our shop's name is getting out there

in the elite custom car world.

So everything seems
to be going as planned.

However, I just heard about
a totally different kind of deal

that I think Mark's
gonna wanna hear about.

So look, I know you're itching to get

more of these
high-profile clients in the shop,

but I came across a vehicle
that I think you'd be very interested in.

-I can't wait to hear what this is.
-No, no. We're talking really cool.

Well, spit it out.

I have a lead on a '57 Kenworth big rig.

Really?

Yes.

[Mark] A '57 Kenworth
is the same style of truck

that my dad used to drive
when he was a trucker back in the day,

and I've been trying
to hunt one down for a very long time.

And you're sure it's a '57 Kenworth?

I'm absolutely sure it's a '57 Kenworth.

So here's the thing,
the relationship my dad and I have

is a very complicated one.

I didn't really know my dad
when I was growing up.

He wasn't around.

I just remember the '57 Kenworth
being parked down the street.

You know, the few times
I saw it down the street,

I knew that my dad
was gonna be at our house visiting.

It wasn't the best situation,

but over the years
you start to grow up, you start to mature,

and we've actually got
a pretty good relationship now.

And it's evolving
into a better relationship,

which is why I want to get a '57 Kenworth
and build it and restore it.

Because it's kind of a parallel
of the relationship with my dad.

You start with something
that looks like you could never fix it,

but then it turns into
something really good.

Yeah, I figured you'd be
a little interested in this deal.

-But you know what everybody's gonna say.
-Mm-hmm.

You're doing it
for your dad and everything.

I will make this abundantly clear
to everybody that this is not a keeper.

I just want to get
the experience of building it.

I wanna show it to my dad,

and then sell it so that the crew
can get a really good payday.

-Hmm.
-In the end, it's a win-win for everybody.

-I think that works.
-So tell me about this Kenworth.

Obviously it's available,
or you wouldn't talk to me about it.

Yes. It is available.

I've been talking to this guy named Brian,

and he's actually getting
cash offers on it,

but he's interested in doing a trade.

He's looking for
a tricked-out Chevy Blazer

that he can cruise around in.

But since he's getting these cash offers,

we'd have to move
really quick on this deal.

The owner of this '57 Kenworth, Brian,

is jonesing for a 1980s Chevy Blazer.

He's a huge fan of our shop,

so he wants us to take that old Blazer
and turn it into a badass cruising truck.

If we can do that,
he'll pass on those cash offers,

and then we get the keys
to a '57 Kenworth big rig.

Then Mark gets to do
a dream build for his dad.

Plus the shop
gets to cash out in the process.

Now, look, Brian knows
what he's got in that Kenworth,

but if we can build him
a really cool Gotham Garage ride

that matches the cash value
of that big rig,

I think we can make this happen,
but we gotta move quick on it.

So now that we've made up our mind,

I'm gonna go on the search
for an '82 Chevy Blazer

to get this trade started.

I think this is a really good deal.

So do I have your permission
to go work on the Zephyr?

[Mark] Even though we feel really good
about the timeline on the Zephyr,

we're gonna feel a whole lot better
once we get this engine in and fired.

[exciting rock music playing]

-[Caveman grunts]

[Mark] This 502 Chevy Big-Block,

it's one of the biggest motors
that Chevy makes.

It's 502 cubic inches of raw power.

-[whirring]
-It sounds like my brain.

[Caveman imitates engine rumbling]

The thing about this motor is it's so big,
and a Zephyr is one of those cars

that has a big enough
engine compartment to fit a 502.

-[Constance] Too much.
-Too much?

And even then,
it's still gonna be a snug fit.

-[Caveman] Putting a baby in the crib.
-[Tony] Look at how slammed that is.

-[Caveman] That thing's badass.
-[Tony] Yup.

We need to get all of the stuff that goes
in front of the timing cover on there.

Then we can start hooking up
the radiators and the fans...

[Tony] It's time to accessorize.

-[Mark] Yes. It is time to accessorize.

The beginning of the bling.

[Constance] The goal on this build
is to be super creative,

so Mark has
really big plans for this motor

to really give it
the rowdiness that it deserves.

He wants to create a completely
one-off intake and carburetor setup

for the top of this engine.

[Mark] So these things are badass.

[Constance] That means
that Tony's gonna have to

design and cut
custom intake adapters to connect it all.

Well, that's a tight fit, isn't it?

And with our timeline,

going that custom
with the motor is pretty scary.

I mean, we're a creative shop
and that's what we do,

but we don't have
any time for trial and error.

[music fades]

Why don't you turn it up
and let fuel pressure build.

-[Caveman] A sci-fi movie.

buttoned up and cleaned up.

Then, in the morning,
I want everybody here bright and early

because, uh, Shawn and I
have a little surprise.

-[Mark] Perfect.

[Mark] It's not surprising to me

that the crew is shocked to see
another build rolling through the door...

That interior is sweet.

Wait until you see the driver's seat.

...but I think after we explain to them
what this new build is all about,

it will all make sense
and they'll get it and understand it

and be okay with it.

So why do we have this Blazer in here?

This truck is an upgrade and trade
to get a vintage Kenworth.

We already found a Kenworth,
but to get to that truck,

we got to trade him
this Blazer all Gotham Garaged out.

The deal is gonna be
a pretty good penny for an old truck.

That's great we got a good deal,
but why are we trying to pull it off now?

Shouldn't we kick this down the road
a little ways until the Zephyr's done?

[Mark] The problem is he's getting
a lot of cash offers on that Kenworth,

so we need to get this done

to trade it for that Kenworth,
to get it before it goes away.

[Shawn] So the plan
is to pause on the Zephyr

for a minute
while we knock out this Blazer.

Then, once we get our hands
on that big rig,

we'll move back to the Zephyr.

Are you trying to get a Kenworth
like your dad's old Kenworth?

[Mark] Yes. It's just like his old truck
that he used to have,

but I'm not gonna be keeping it.

So this is, we're building it.
It's business, we're gonna sell it?

Upgrade, trade, sell the Kenworth.
That's what we're doing.

[Constance] All right.
So what's the plan for this build?

So we're actually
gonna make a dually out of it.

We're gonna slam it on 20s.

The trick to this deal

is gonna be building a vehicle
that we can knock out quickly,

but also to deliver him
a slick Gotham Garage ride

so the deal goes down as planned.

We're gonna start this build
by doing an axle swap in the back

and giving it
a heavy-duty dually rear end.

From there, we'll take
a super wide set of dually fenders

and graft them to the rear of the Blazer.

There is nothing more badass than that.

We're going custom with the interior.

We're gonna put red leather and suede.

We'll finish it off with a set
of super slick wheels and tires,

plus a bitchin' paint job
with a ton of intricate details.

Right now,
we're gonna get this thing blown apart

so I can give him a master list,
and then he can go find it all.

[Shawn] I got this covered, all right?

[Mark] Let's get the lift
and get the top off it.

-Then we can blow it apart.
-Sounds good.

I know Mark's been wanting to get
his hands on a Kenworth for a long time,

and it's great if we can get

is a huge opportunity for this shop,

and even though
we're on schedule right now,

any setbacks could knock us off course.

that this trade

right back into this project

so we can get it out the door
and get it traded.

with a Gotham Garage truck.

A '57 Kenworth big rig.

I know we still have a ways to go
before we get our hands on that Kenworth.

We're in the process
of acquiring this truck right now.

And let me tell you,
the truck is beautiful.

But I wanna start spreading the word now,

because the market
for a restored big rig is very limited.

Unfortunately, right now I'm just not
in the market for something like that.

We're talking about
an incredibly specialized vehicle.

The thing is, it's a specialty vehicle,

and you can only do
so many things with it.

However, if I can find the right buyer,

a truck like that could bring in
really good money for the shop.

Potentially six figures.

There's a whole subculture
of collectors out there

who take these blinged-out trucks
to Big Rig shows.

The challenge?

To find the right person who's willing
to throw down cash right now.

I happened to come across a truck

Man, I am tickled
that you called me on that,

but here's the catch.

I've been looking
at several other trucks as well.

I'm willing to hold off
on one of those other trucks,

we're looking at getting this truck done.

on this project of yours,

but I don't wanna miss out
on these other vehicles.

isn't the ideal situation,

but when you've got
a willing buyer at the table

for such a specialized truck like this,

you gotta bend over backwards
to make it work.

Once we finish the Blazer,

we'll just have to move
this Kenworth build

to the front of the line.

Plus, we'll still need
to keep moving that Zephyr forward

so we don't miss the deadline
for Speedway Motors.

It's gonna all be really tight,
so we definitely need to move fast

to make this all happen.

now that we got this torn apart,

we'll get the front suspension back on it.

We'll get the dually wheels on it,

set it on the ground,

to stretch these back fenders out.

So it's a bit of work,
but it'll all be worth it.

The biggest change
that we're doing to the Blazer

is swapping out the axle,
and we're making it a dually.

But turning this truck into a dually
is a major modification.

[Tony] A dually is
a heavy-duty type of truck

that has two wheels
on the back on each side.

[Constance] Tony is using his entire body
for whatever they're doing, so.

[Tony grunts]

We have to literally remove
the whole rear end out of this truck.

Okay. It's not letting me...

And put in a new axle that's gonna fit

the dually tire setup.

[Mark] Pull it, Tony.

-[clanking]
-[Mark and Tony] Whoa.

[Tony] Perfect.

And there is gonna be a lot of work
on the back end of this truck

to make it all fit together.

-[clangs]
-[Caveman] Wow.

[Mark] All right.
So we have to install the dually fenders.

So let's grab the fenders over there.

Constance, if you wanna grab
those cardboard templates.

The concept of "what a pattern does."

[rasping on ground]

Uh, Tony, will you get me

so I can figure out where the middle is.

-[Mark] It's 35. So, 15. 17 and a half.

Before we screw this up,

will you take the center of that wheel
straight up on the quarter on both sides?

Yeah.

[Mark] I really appreciate
the crew going above and beyond

to knock out this Blazer
so we can trade it for the Kenworth.

Constance, will you grab

And according to Shawn,
he's already got a buyer

who's ready to go on that big rig.

But when it gets here,

we'll have to move it
to the front of the queue

in order to keep him on the hook,

so I wanna double-time it on this Blazer
to make that happen.

We're gonna do a lot of drilling holes.

Even though we plan
on selling that big rig when we're done,

I still get to build it,
and that's the payoff for me.

I'm finally gonna get
the opportunity to honor my dad

and celebrate
the relationship that we have now.

And emotionally, for me,
I'll check that box off in my bucket list.

This is something I've thought about
since I was a little kid.

longest dream I've had in my life,

it's just gonna be one of those projects
where I won't want to go home.

I'm just gonna wanna live,
eat, sleep on the floor,

and then get back to work.

I think this is the most badass Blazer
on the road today, man.

-Those dually fenders came out awesome.
-Yeah, it's looking good.

-We're close to getting that Kenworth.
-[Tony] Yeah, we're almost there.

this thing's gotta get painted.

this build simple and straightforward,

but if we want this trade
to go down without a problem,

we have to take
this paint job over the top.

It's the smartest way
to add immediate value to this truck.

So me and Tony,
we're gonna tag-team this paint job.

I'm gonna put down a black base coat,

and then Tony is gonna lay down
some badass ghost flames.

This is gonna end up being

one of the coolest paint jobs
Gotham Garage has ever done.

Everything that's not on it, basically,

we just need to stuff it
all back on there.

We can get it polished up
and get it out of here.

Now that this truck is coming to life,

I think that everyone is believing
in this Blazer-Kenworth trade.

[Mark] You can't beat this thing
from front to back.

It's got the biggest hood scoop
you can put on a truck like this.

I mean, it's got three light bar
headlights on it with a custom grill.

It doesn't get any cooler
or any radder than this truck.

[Caveman] The bumpers have to go on?

[Mark] But you never know.

He's getting
a lot of cash offers on that Kenworth,

so we're not gonna find out
till we set this truck in front of him

and figure out
if we're gonna take that Kenworth home.

Bringing in this truck wasn't exactly

the most popular decision
I've made at this shop,

but I think the end result
turned out wicked.

[exciting music playing]

We took a bland 1982 Blazer

and turned it
into a badass cruising truck.

Swapping it to a dually gave it
that super-wide look in the back.

And the rest of the touches we gave it
complement that look perfectly.

The wheels and tires, the interior,

that killer paint job.

Not too shabby
for a down-and-dirty truck build.

We don't know
how this trade's gonna go down,

but we are one step closer
to that Kenworth,

and I'm one step closer
to building my dad's old truck.

[music fades]

[Shawn] Man, that Blazer looks amazing.

But remember, it's not a done deal
until we shake his hand

because he's still got
those cash offers on the table.

So this thing has to blow him away.

Any time you're doing a deal
with someone that's fielding cash offers,

makes you feel a little nervous.

There's always a chance
the deal could fall through at any minute.

And the fact that we already have

a potential buyer
lined up for the Kenworth

makes this trade all the more important.

'57 Kenworths don't come along every day,
especially one that runs and drives,

that's all complete.

You know, I just hope
we did enough to this Blazer

to convince Brian to do the deal.

[Shawn] Well, he asked
for a custom Blazer,

and that's what we're giving him.

with the airbrush.

We got the big 22-inch wheels on there.

We had to widen
the rear fenders five inches

to get all that rubber underneath it.

That's awesome.

-[Shawn] Sounds good, huh?
-Yeah.

[Mark] Rev it up once or twice.

[revs engine]

It's got a little 350 in it.

It'll get you great gas mileage,

but you still can romp it
up and down the highway.

So, what do you think, man?

[Brian] It's a beautiful truck.

[Shawn] This is better than cash.
You got to admit that.

So, what are you thinking?

We got a deal?

That's what I was looking for, ultimately.

So I... I think that, uh...

I think we got a deal, Mark.

All in all, I think
this is a really good deal

that worked out for everybody.

Brian gets a truck
that he's gonna get a ton of use out of,

and we finally
get our hands on a 1957 Kenworth

that we've been looking for for a while.

-Let's do some paperwork and swap titles.
-All right. Let's make it happen.

[Shawn] We'll have to call
a tow truck for that.

-[Mark] Yeah.
-[Shawn chuckles]

[intense rock music playing]

[honks horn]

[Constance] Hey, hey, look. Empty trailer.

[Tony] Empty trailer?

-[truck horn blares]
-[Caveman] Oh, dude!

-[Constance] Ah.
-[Caveman] No wonder the trailer's empty.

-Hell yeah!
-Right here!

The trailer was empty
because this doesn't fit.

[Caveman] Yeah, this is badass.

[Mark] You like that? '57 Kenworth.

[Caveman] '57, huh?

-[Mark] Ready to get this inside?
-[Shawn] Yeah.

-I don't think it's gonna fit in the shop.
-[all laugh]

[Mark] We're gonna find out.

[engine starts]

-[engine rumbles]
-[Caveman] Wow!

-[Shawn] Yeah!
-[Caveman] I wanna hear the horn!

[honks horn]

[all laugh]

[Shawn] Seeing this big rig pull in here,

I'm feeling like this could be
the ultimate Gotham Garage build.

Look at the roof.

-[Constance] That's a big rear end.
-[Shawn] Damn.

-[Caveman laughing]
-[Tony] We got a stowaway!

[Constance laughs]

I'm sure Mark's got
a crazy vision for this truck.

-[hydraulics squeak, hiss]
-[gasps]

-[chuckling]
-[Mark] Geez, Caveman.

-Wasn't me. [laughs]
-I can hear it all the way inside.

And it doesn't get any bigger
or over the top than this Kenworth.

-[Caveman] Damn.
-[Tony] Look at that turbo.

-Huge!
-[Mark] It's the best part of this truck.

All right, so what are we doing
with this big monster?

It's gotta be stripped down
to bare aluminum.

Brand-new everything.

[dubstep music playing]

We're gonna start
by blowing this whole truck apart.

Every piece of metal
needs to get sent out in chrome.

We'll take this old rusty frame
and this old rusted cab,

and we're gonna put spit and shine on it
and make this thing gleam.

And then we'll go
full custom on the interior.

New leather, new gauges, new everything.

We'll slap on brand-new wheels
and tires all the way around.

And then give it
an in-your-face paint scheme.

And last but not least,
we'll take all that freshly chromed metal

and bolt it back on
to make this old truck shine.

[Caveman chuckles]

[Mark] It's gotta be a show truck
when we're done with it.

It's a big job with a big payday.

Good thing is, we have a guy on the line
for this truck when it's done.

I feel like there's a "but"
coming at the end of that, though.

The "but" is
we gotta finish this truck ASAP.

Yeah, he's not gonna sit around
and wait for us to get this done

because he's out there
looking right now for another truck.

So we have
to move on this truck, unfortunately.

The hardest thing
we need to find is the time, man.

I just don't know
how we're gonna get the work done.

We have to do it
while we're doing that Zephyr.

-[Tony] We'll put in some overtime.
-[Mark] Get some wrenches.

-Go tools!
-[Mark] Start ripping it apart.

[exciting rock music playing]

[Tony] This project
is gonna be a ton of work,

especially if we're gonna finish it
alongside the Zephyr.

[tools whirring]

-[Caveman] Okay. Go.
-[Constance] Yep.

[Tony] We've never built a big rig before.

Oh. Yep. It's out.

So there's gonna be a ton of unknowns

and a lot of stuff
to figure out on the fly.

[metal creaking]

[Caveman] Right on!

-[metals creaks]
-[imitates creaking]

So if we're gonna finish this Kenworth
and still finish the Zephyr,

we're really gonna have to hustle.

Do you think that's got
a million miles on it or less?

[Mark] It looks like a dog got to it.

[Caveman] It wasn't me.
I wasn't that hungry.

Well, not a bad start
for starting late in the day.

Maybe we should remake this thing

[Mark] Now that we have that monster motor
installed in the Zephyr,

it's time to move on to all
the other crazy Gotham Garage features.

Now all we have to do
is engine-turn the whole thing

and then, uh, candy purple it.

The Goodguys Southwest Nationals
are about a month away,

but I think we've timed out
everything perfectly

to juggle this build and that Kenworth

and still get to the car show on time.

-Ooh! We got invited somewhere.

I've got Joe,
from Speedway Motors, on the phone.

They've got a little news
that they wanna share with us.

Okay, Joe, why don't you, uh,
tell everybody what you were telling me?

So we have really loved
seeing the updates on the car.

It's creative, and kind of gave us an idea
that I wanted to run by you guys.

We were thinking
that it would be a really cool car

to feature on the cover
of one of our catalogs.

[Shawn] Huh?

-Is that an honor or what? Wow.
-[Constance] Wow.

-That's pretty cool.
-Yeah.

[Tony] Being on the cover
of a Speedway Motors catalog

is like an athlete winning the Olympics
and being on the Wheaties box.

This doesn't happen every day.

Well, what do you guys think of that?

-We think that's pretty cool.
-[Constance] Cool!

-Yeah!
-That'd be awesome!

It's a pretty select group of builders

that's been on any cover
of any parts catalog,

let alone Speedway Motors.

The only problem is
this comes with a little catch.

You know, our catalogs
we have to have out to the printer,

and the deadline to have this cover shot

might move the deadline
for the project forward a little bit.

-[Mark] How much is a little bit?
-[Shawn] Yeah.

So the photo shoot
for this particular catalog cover

would have to be done
two weeks before the car show.

[Mark] First of all,
thanks for the opportunity.

I mean, I'm flattered that you'd want
a Gotham Garage car on the cover,

but we kind of have another
big giant project in the shop right now,

so just give us a little bit of time here
to mull this over. If that's okay?

Obviously, we've got
a big decision to make.

-Two weeks?
-[Mark] There's a lot on the line, man.

It definitely means
taking that Kenworth and pushing it aside.

It's gonna take everything we got
to get this car done.

Everything. And remember,
when you push that Kenworth aside,

you gotta go into this knowing

you're kicking
your next paycheck down the road.

[Shawn] This guy is very impatient.

He's got his eye on a couple other trucks,

and I told him we'd move that Kenworth
to the front of the line for him.

If we put that build on ice,
even just for two weeks,

the guy'll be gone, I can guarantee that.

Look, I know we're gonna lose my buyer
if we decide to put this Kenworth on ice.

But it's a tough call.

On one hand, we have an opportunity
with Speedway Motors

that would get this shop
global recognition.

This can be a long-term effect.

The cover of a magazine
is an advertisement for the shop.

Yeah. Finding a buyer for a car
could take a while,

but that's much easier than
potentially getting another opportunity

to be on the cover of a magazine.

On the other hand,
we could finish Mark's dad's truck

and get the shop
a huge payday in the process.

All right, so what does
everybody want to do here?

[off-screen] But we can't do both.

And unfortunately,
there is no easy answer here.
