a plastic gaming notebook from a

reputable brand that may come with a few

compromises that should be expected with

its around 1,000 bucks price tech but

still bets on a fast 460 that aims to

deliver an above average gaming

experience without breaking the bank

that is pretty much the 2024 Lenovo lock

15 and a nutshell and while you will

come across quite a few different

configurations with both Intel and AMD

CPUs the still relatively Sleek 15in

here might be one to look out for or

when shopping for a not too expensive

laptop be it for back to school season

or all of your general computing

needs our sample of the Lo 15 which sits

below lenovo's more high-end Legion

gaming lineup comes with a large gen in

I5 13450 HX the befor mentioned RTX 4060

running at a pretty impressive 115 Watts

16 gigs of RAM and a 1 TB SSD on the

display side of things we get a 100 44

HZ g-sync panel that should be a great

fit for nvidia's lower mid-range mobile

GPU all of this is housed in a pretty

planned looking plastic chassis that has

to make do without any form of visual

eye candy if that is a good or a bad

thing well I guess that is up to you to

decide the gener stability is pretty all

right though with acceptable flxs around

the keyboard area and stiff enough

hinges regarding ports the lock follows

in the footsteps of its Legion siblings

and offers above average connectivity

again with some compromises to keep the

price down so while a total of fre uspas

is pretty impressive for a sort of

budget machine they are all just 3.2 gen

1es but again I would say this is

something most of you might be able to

live with funderbolt or USB 4 is off the

table as well but the USBC 3.2 Gen 2 can

carry a display port signal and allows

you to charge your laptop if you want to

emit the 230 W power Brak for a smaller

variant when it comes to wireless

connectivity you may want to utilize the

1 GB eanet port for your next mood mul

player matches or game downloads since

our measure transfer rates are quite a

bit below average and when it comes to

the webcam given that not even high and

gaming laptops can deliver in this

regard do not get your hopes up for this

one below the plastic buttom panel you

get access to a pair of sodm and nvme

slots for easy storage and RAM

expansions in the future another Legion

or well maybe even a general Lenovo

quality is the keyboard with generous

travel a tectile bump and satisfying

feedback the lock is a great companion

for games and typ longer texts alike the

offset trackpad drives me mad personally

with its positioning but otherwise does

its job without any problems even though

the clicks do feel a little on the

cheaper side the lock 15's more budget

oriented positioning also becomes

apparent in the display Department even

though it could be a lot worse to be

honest and while not even 300 nits of

average brightness does hurt quite a lot

contrast and Factory calibration are

quite solid unfortunately response times

are also very slow which is quite the

bummer especially if you want to use

this one for games decide how much that

bothers you might depend on what you are

used to and for me personally it wasn't

that big a deal but your mileage may

vary in this regard and if you play a

lot of competitive games the panel in

this puppy might not be Snappy enough

for you but let's see what the not quite

a legion Lenovo has in store for us

under the hood the I5 13450 HX is a 10

core CPU with six hyper threading

enabled performance variants and four

efficiency cores and and in our CPU

performance rating it does not look too

good for the 15 in if you need more

performance in this regard you might be

better off saving up for either a ryzen

7 or maybe even the i7 14700 HX

configuration even though they are quite

a bit more expensive at which point you

might be better off looking for a legion

5 or similar laptops right away in our

system performance tests we get a

similar picture and the Lenovo is one of

the slowest laptops even in this more

budget oriented group of notebooks

that said objectively I did not run

across any very apparent bottlenecks

with a Snappy overall experience and a

fast SSD and given its pretty beefy 4060

and relatively color accurate display

the lock can also be a pretty good entry

into the world of content creation

laptops in our synthetic GPU tests the

15 in is able to redeem itself and the

RTX 4060 is able to deliver above

average numbers thanks to its more than

generous power levels interestingly the

slower CPU does not hurt the Sleek 15

ninja as much as I thought it would in

our 1080p gaming rating despite our

selection of games usually being more

CPU bound but in the end that is good

news since in the real world the

disadvantages we observed in our CPU

tests might not be that much of a

problem in general you should be able to

enjoy most games in high or ultra

settings in full HD even though some

recent AAA titles like Wukong or Star

Wars might be a tough nut to crack at

least natively in this case you would

have to utilize dlss and frame to get

above or close to 60 HZ which is quite

impressive considering we are talking

about a budget gaming laptop and two of

the most difficult to run titles as of

right now before we continue with our

regular content let's hear a quick word

from our sponsor together with Nvidia

and our German retail partner notebooks

Spiga we are going to tell you how we

utilize team Green's latest 40 series

GPU architecture and Nvidia Studio

validated laptops for our video

production we use dingi resolve to edit

videos for the channel and Blackmagic

software spe just loves a fast dedicated

GPU in addition to the more traditional

editing workflow it also features a few

AI tools that are actually useful and

immensely accelerated by nvidia's tensor

course in addition their Studio

validation ensures that you get the

complete package with color accurate

displays fast CPUs a ton of RAM for some

intense multitasking and an overall

capable Computing companion for all of

your content creation Endeavors please

video on the channel compromise is again

the name of the game when it comes to

Fan noise and battery life even though

Lenovo did leave some extra points on

the table with less than ideal tuning so

while the general noise experience is

that of a typical gaming laptop the idle

Behavior definitely need some work the

fans either spin all the time with a

subtle hum or a very annoying pulsing

during completely silent periods but do

not take my word for it as always I

recorded Some Noise samples for you and

for more info about the lock stress test

results or internal or external attempts

which are a bit on the higher side by

the way make sure to head on over to our

written review after the video

away from the wall you should also not

expect any surprises with just 5 hours

and 20 minutes theux suffers from its

smaller battery here despite relatively

good power consumption figures but that

should already be it for today with the

lock 15 Lenovo set out to deliver a

legion likee experience for a lower

price and in my opinion they did succeed

as always within this price range you

would have to do some digging since

finding this exact config can some times

be a bit of a problem but with the I5 or

a ryzen 5 equivalent and the pretty

beefy 4060 you will get a solid gaming

laptop or even a very capable content

creation machine for your first video

projects without any gamebreaking

shortcomings or overbearing compromises

but let me know what you think and leave

me your budget notebook recommendations

hear your opinion as always thanks for
