...is confronted
by something evil.

A terrifying
cryptid emerges

from a man's toilet.

It looks like sludge.
It looks like living sludge.

Ominous lights
appear in the sky

over San Diego.

When you see a light
or seven in a line,

It leads me to believe,
it could be something extra-terrestrial.

Is this
the sound...

... of a
skin-walker?

There was that gut feeling
that something was just wrong.

And even more
paranormal footage you have to see...

... to believe.

There's a mythical
being in Native American folklore

that many believe
to be evil incarnate.

It's called,
"the skin-walker."

They reportedly originate
from shaman

who attempt to gain heightened
powers by forsaking their ability to heal

and committing heinous acts
of violence.

They can shape-shift into
the form of different creatures.

And lure their victims

by mimicking animal sounds
and even human voices.

Recently, a man working on
a remote ranch in Arizona

believes he is being
stalked by one.

...and has
the video to prove it.

October, 2020.

Eloy, Arizona.

John Soto is a cowboy,

who works in a remote ranch
about 20 minutes outside of town.

Lately, he's noticed some very
disturbing things happening

around the property.

Disembodied voices,

extremely odd animal sounds
and behavior.

And even the recurring odor

of rotting flesh from
an unknown source.

One day, John is
riding horseback,

setting up trail cameras
around the ranch,

when he spots something
strange and quickly takes out his phone.

And things are
about to get a whole lot weirder.

My name is John.

I am a working cowboy
in Southern Arizona.

And I captured these videos on
one of the ranches I work at.

What I heard was what
sounded to me to be the word, "Hey."

Like, something
calling me.

It was a... Sounded like
a female voice, not panicked.

And that made it more eerie.

Almost, like, it was trying to
call me into the bush.

Hey!

My horse is
a working cow horse.

He's not scared easily

and whatever that was
made him stop in his tracks.

And then a second one came.

And that's when he
spun around,

and went into that gait.

Once I got back
into the yard,

I calmed my horse down

and I walked back up
towards the tree line,

calling out, in case there was
somebody that needed help.

And when I did that,
there was no response.

Six days later,

John is driving his pickup
truck on the ranch,

when something runs across
the road in front of him.

He pulls over to
see what it is.

Just saw... Looked
almost like a coyote

run right across here.

Suddenly, from out
of the darkness...

That sounded
like a kid.

Or a goat.

When I said a kid or a goat,
I didn't mean a kid, like a baby goat.

I meant a child, it sounded
like a child.

And then my brain
trying to make sense of it.

It was like or it may have
been a goat or it...

You know what, I'm trying to
think of what it could have been.

It seemed like it was
trying to get me to come off of the roadway.

But again, there was
that gut feeling

that something was just wrong.

John's inclination
is spot-on.

My family is
Native American

and when I ran it past my
family members,

they immediately told me to
speak to a medicine man.

That's what when things sort
of got concerning.

Concerning, because
the family's advice seemed to imply

that John may have
been interacting

with one of the most
feared entities

in Native American folklore,

the skin-walker.

Everything just seems
to line up.

It being a trickster of sorts,
trying to lure us out,

the sounds...

I do think it's the
entity in question here.

I do think that's what it is.

A skin-walker
is an evil person.

A person who has put
themselves ahead of their community.

They have to do
certain things.

They have to sacrifice
certain loved ones,

to gain the ability to
shape-shift into an animal.

And so the stories that we
encounter of skin-walkers

are almost always as an animal
that is giving away

the fact that it's not
a natural animal.

It's actually
an unnatural transformed human,

who has become this thing

out of a malevolent desire
to do evil.

I do think
that very first, "Hey," that spooks the horse.

sounds very feminine
and female like.

But then that second one
sounded more like

a baby lamb or goat
or something.

Not a human.

Skinwalkers
are, in a way,

halfway between a human
and an animal.

So it makes sense
that they might make a sound

that sounds right smack
in the middle between those two things.

It could be a human

or could be an animal.

We have no idea.

John brings
a medicine man to the ranch shortly after.

And he confirms John's fears.

I showed him the clips
and when he heard it...

- Hey!
- He said he could feel the energy

that he knew what it was.

So, he proceeded with
his ceremony.

He gave me
a small pouch filled with white ash,

to keep with me.

We put it on all the firearms.

We blessed the animals.

So, I have a pouch that I keep
with me when I'm out there.

It's supposed to help,
keep it at bay.

The question of
what it wants is

really the most
frightening thing here.

Hey!

Because we don't know.

- This is an ongoing problem.
- Hey!

This is not something where
there's an obvious,

easily known remedy that
exists for everyone.

For now, John is
remaining extremely cautious

while at the ranch.

I keep my head on
a swivel, so to speak.

Just kind of looking around,
watching everything,

listening to all the sounds,
just a little more

vigilant than I already was.

And he's learning
to live with his new perspective,

on everything.

They have changed me.
Now, I believe in more things

than I did before.
I didn't believe in any of it.

I wasn't having any of it.

And then it's almost like once
you experience something like this,

then you believe,
all of a sudden.

Coming up, a man on
a smoke break

is spied on by a ghost.

A ghost with
unfinished business,

keeping its essence among
the living.

A spirit, whose life
ended tragically,

doomed to haunt the site
of its traumatic demise.

The Japanese have a term for
such apparitions.

"The Yurei."

Mystical visions draped
in white,

who are unable to move
into the afterlife.

People have spoken about
these ethereal beings

for hundreds of years.

And recently, one of them

may have been caught

on a rooftop security camera.

August, 2009.

Tokyo, Japan.

A man is on the roof of his
office building,

taking a cigarette break.

And he's about to get
some company.

Watch the window in the door,

as a shadow approaches.

Followed by what
appears to be

a person.

Whoever it is
stands in the doorway

and seems to watch
the man outside,

who is apparently
completely unaware.

The man finishes
his cigarette.

And here is where it gets
really creepy.

Did you see that?

Watch again.

As the man opens the door,

the figure somehow

vanishes.

How is this possible?

Okay, this is creepy.

Emphasis on "eep."

What I find especially
unsettling about this

is how mundane everything
appears to be for the man.

He is just out having
a smoke break,

as something watches
him, unnoticed.

My favorite thing
about this clip

is that we get to compare
the woman

who appears in the doorway
to the man, who appears in the doorway before her.

So we see them approach
the door.

We see him come out,
we see him stand outside.

We have a clear sense of what
a corporeal human looks like

when approaching that door
and coming through it.

And when
he turns to open the door,

I'm waiting for this person
to come forward.

And when no one is there,

that moment you realize that
you are looking at potentially a spirit

in this doorway and to see
it disappear was pretty amazing.

So, what kind of
spirit would be hanging out

by the doorway to a roof?

This looks like a classic
Yurei from Japanese belief.

Meaning faint spirit,

it is an umbrella term
for ghosts

who appear in a white
burial kimono

with long black hanging hair.

And they are spirits

who do not have
a peaceful afterlife.

There's a great
theory behind place memory hauntings that

an area can absorb
that energy.

And when the time is right,
we don't know what the triggers are

or what the situation has to
be, but that energy can be released.

What typically
results in a haunting

is when somebody's life
is cut short

in a very traumatic way.

So, typically that tends
to be by homicide

or by suicide.

And in fact, just
a few years earlier,

a young woman reportedly
committed suicide on this roof.

I find that the majority of

the places that I go to
investigate involve suicides.

Because those are the energies
that tend to be the stickiest,

just because of that
mental strain

that happens in those final
moments before they decide to take their lives.

If this is
the spirit of the woman who died here,

why would she choose this
man's smoking break to suddenly appear?

We don't know
why he's there

but maybe he's thinking
about something,

maybe he has problems
and stresses of his own.

Even though we don't see
a physical interaction between these two,

who knows? Maybe there is
their own personal version of

It's a Wonderful Life
going on

in that moment between
her and him.

Maybe that helps her to move
on, to cross over.

Whether the Yurei
was here to help someone,

repeat a past traumatic event

or do something else entirely,
we may never know.

But perhaps the most important
takeaway here is this.

No matter how alone you
think you are,

there's always someone

or something

watching.

The Winter Hill
region of England

has seen its fair share

of tragic
and bizarre happenings.

Murder,

plane crashes,

even UFO sightings.

The leftover energy from each
and every event

is forever baked into the
storied English countryside.

Now, add to that
a mysterious structure,

said to be the site of
gruesome executions,

sometime during the Roman
occupation of England,

almost 2000 years ago.

And what you have is

a breeding ground
for paranormal activity.

Which is what brought one
daring explorer to the area,

to investigate.

A decision that he would
almost immediately

come to regret.

February, 2020.

In Winter Hill, Bolton, UK.

It's a damp winter night,

and Danny Duffy is traveling
alone through the wet woods,

with one destination in mind.

My name is Danny

and I am the person who
filmed the video.

If people were
executed on this property

It would give it a real reason
to be haunted.

And sure enough,
before Danny even reaches the hut,

he hears this.

What the hell
was that?

Followed shortly
after by another.

What the hell?

The British woods
are ancient,

and they're enchanting
and intimidating.

But the sounds of
these screams

which seem to be emanating
at a close proximity

with a deafening sound,

it sent a chill down my spine.

What the hell?

Danny is terrified,

but continues on.

And finally arrives.

This place
looks terrifying,

Throw ghosts out of
the equation.

This place is spooky from
the get-go.

In order to
contact, whatever spirits may be living at the hut,

Danny forgoes
modern-day gadgets

and attempts something
a little more old-school.

It definitely seemed
that this is a space

for ritual purposes.

And Danny himself did this.
He lit candles in the hut.

He understood that this was
the sort of place where you cast out

questions or intentions.

And you get responses
back if you're lucky

or unlucky as the case may be.

The phantom
scream again.

This time, as if it's coming
from inside the hut.

But there's no one else here.

At least no other
human beings.

Oh!

I have heard of investigators

encountering a disembodied
scream in haunted locations.

And I personally have
experienced this phenomenon.

Automatically, it
makes me think of the banshee,

from Irish folklore.

Now, this woman
of fairy mounds

was said to moan,

mournfully, at the time that
a death was imminent.

Whatever this
thing is,

Danny is too freaked out
to stay inside the hut.

So he leaves and starts to
head back to his car.

But it's not
over yet.

Watch again,

as some kind of shadowy figure

passes by in the distance.

Knowing
this place's back story

and then going in
there willingly,

putting yourself in that
vulnerable position,

I would be terrified.

Even if you know what
you're doing,

even if you've heard
the stories, nothing can prepare you for

experiencing it.

There comes a time on
an investigation

where you need to get
out of there

Whoa! What the hell?
And this is the time.

Danny made the right call.

Coming up...

A line of UFOs
strikes fear in San Diego.

When confronted by
the extraordinary,

our brains automatically

start to formulate
a rational explanation

to keep us calm.

But, in those rare instances

when the situation is
so overwhelming

that our minds are unable
to explain it away,

our instincts kick in.

And we shift into
survival mode.

One couple in San Diego

found themselves in one of
these terrifying situations.

It is
completely strange.

And they're still reeling

from the experience.

April 1st, 2020.

San Diego, California.

Stuart Clark and his wife
Harper are sitting on their deck,

enjoying the evening view
of the city,

when they both notice some
strange lights hovering in the distance,

near the Pacific Ocean.

Soon, even more begin
to appear.

And they continue
to multiply.

There's a fourth one.

Yeah.

My name is Stuart,
and this is my video.

Yes, it was something that
we've never seen before, obviously.

And it was worth filming.

They just flickered on
and appeared very bright.

And relatively close to
each other.

Seemed like they were
precisely spaced.

And they didn't move.

Wow.

It's
completely strange.

Kind of a running joke
in our family where

my wife is known
as the risk analysis person.

Her first go to
is to question if this is going to be safe or not.

This is definitely
a risk analysis moment.

In today's culture,

we assume that we're very
savvy. We've got our finger on the pulse of what's going on.

But when you see something
like this,

something very primal emerges.
It's fear.

Fear of the unknown.

Six, six!

I think that the commentary we
get saying,

"Hey, this is not good.
Someone is attacking us,"

is a testament to how
real these experiences are.

This looks terrifying.

I'll be honest. I might have
felt the same way in that same situation.

When Harper
checks the local news,

she finds nothing.

And the phenomenon

shows no signs
of slowing down.

Seven!

On the brink
of sheer panic,

Harper turns to Stuart,

who takes his best,
logical guess.

I think
they're flares.

I think
they're illumination flares,

You see something just
kind of appear in the sky.

So it could have been a signal
or some thing

and the only thing that
I could think of would have been a flare.

But, this guess
quickly starts to unravel.

They're very far
apart though.

The elevation
being the same is extraordinarily precise.

I didn't see them
descending at all.

They were in line with
each other.

Which I don't know how you can
maintain a light

in a pre-positioned
elevation for

any amount of time,
without gravity taking effect.

What goes up must come down.

And these just,

turned on,

and turned off.

Often times,
people will mistake

these type of strange
balls of light, these UFOs,

as paper lanterns or some kind
of flares.

And flares typically will burn
out over a period of time.

We see that these lights

are continuing
to move on and they're flying together in unison,

hovering there,

but they have a consistency
and a make up

of something that doesn't seem
to be of this Earth.

Eventually the
bizarre balls of light

fade back into the darkness.

One remains,

shortly to extinguish.

And when
they're gone,

Stuart allows himself
one last thought.

Hope it
wasn't aliens.

We're so
infinitesimally small in this giant, unfathomable universe.

It's not lost on me
how big it is out there.

When you see a light,

or seven,

in a line,

I've got no frame of reference
of what that could be,

it leads me to believe
it could be something extraterrestrial.

Even to this day,

Stuart remains baffled by this
peculiar encounter.

Nobody in our neighborhood
saw it.

You know, it was definitely
one of those things that if I didn't film it,

I wouldn't have believed it.

Coming up,
a mysterious figure in India

terrorizes a car full
of friends.

Zombies,
skin-walkers, wraiths.

All creatures that can appear
human from a distance.

But get a little closer
and it becomes very clear

that they are decidedly
not human.

When it comes
to these encounters,

the ability to discern between
the normal and paranormal

could mean the difference
between life and death.

Such was the case
one night in India,

when some friends came upon
a bizarre figure in the road,

and knew almost immediately
that whatever it was,

it was not of this world.

December, 2020,

somewhere on the outskirts
of Visakhapatnam, India.

Amartej Merla is on
a late night joyride with a group of friends.

Around 1:00 a.m.,
they turn on to a remote stretch of road

in a densely forested
and unlit area,

And come upon this.

Some kind
of figure, possibly naked,

sitting in an odd position in
the middle of the road.

And they
are unable to tell

whether the figure is sitting
backwards or forwards.

Amartej and his friends
are a little freaked out.

But they haven't seen
anything yet.

Watch closely,

as the figure pops up
and begins to walk...

backwards.

Until it comes to
the edge of the forest,

stands there for a moment,

and eventually disappears
into the brush.

What just happened?

I'm out! That is my
response to this.

I'm out, I would drive away,
I would run away.

I would not be there.

That is too weird, too weird.

As a person that
works at night consistently,

I am driving on highways
alone at like

1:00, 2:00, 3:00 in the
morning pretty frequently.

And I try to put myself in
the position of these people.

If I were to see something
like this off the road,

I wouldn't know what to do.

Yes, it's
definitely creepy.

But first things first.

Is this figure human?

If this
is a human being,

something other than a human

is controlling that body
because it was using it wrong.

But I'm not even convinced
that this was a human body that we were seeing.

There's a distinct possibility
that this could be a feral human.

Now this is
a very rare phenomenon but it has happened,

and it actually has happened
in India where

children will somehow find
themselves alone in the forest

and through the help
of possibly animals or just their own efforts,

they managed to survive
into adulthood.

But, if this
is a human,

feral or otherwise,

why is it moving backwards?

Initially I thought that
maybe this clip was playing in reverse,

because it just seemed
very unnatural.

But I did watch
it in reverse, and that seemed even more unnatural.

The motion almost seemed
to be floating.

Walking backwards
but in such a way that it seemed to be effortless

as if they're naturally
walking this way all the time.

According to other beliefs,

speaking backwards or saying
the Lord's Prayer backwards,

or walking backwards

are associated
with evil intent,

even Satan.

I'm seeing
someone who could potentially be possessed by

a very powerful
non-human energy.

And if not
a possessed human,

could it be something even
more terrifying?

Is this maybe a creature?

Something that is humanoid
in nature,

or maybe something
more nefarious

like a skin-walker.

A shape-shifter that maybe
got stuck

in a certain form.
Maybe who hasn't completed the transformation.

There are spirits known as
Chudailin India.

And they have feet that face
the opposite way

and part of why they do that
is to leave footprints that

go the other direction so they

can fool people of where
they're going.

The thing I have
seen most recently that

looked like this is the Rake.

I mean, a creature that comes
to us almost entirely from

Creepy Pasta, from
digital folklore.

The Rake is a pale,
spindly creature

that looks like it's sort of
crawling with you know maybe

overly jointed elbows
and knees

and very very pale skin.

So many
possibilities, none of which

you want to run into on
a road late at night.

The encounter
scared Amartej and his friends so much

that they haven't been
back to the area since.

Which is most
definitely for the best.

This is one
of the creepiest

pieces of footage I've
ever seen on the show.

And I've seen a lot
of really creepy things, and this one is just...

It's not vague.

It's not ambiguous.

It's not hard to tell
what's happening.

It's just wrong.

Coming up,
a cryptid, born in the sewer.

When someone
witnesses a cryptid,

it's a shocking and often
terrifying experience

that is forever burned
into their memory.

But those encounters
are most often

in wide open spaces,

with plenty of distance
between you and the creature.

Now, just imagine if you came
across one of these cryptids

in a tightly confined space.

Like say, the bathroom
in your own home.

That's what happened to
a couple in Malaysia,

when something slithered
out of their toilet

and into their lives.

October 6th, 2017.

Alor Setar, Malaysia.

Zul Hanif Anip and his
wife Puteri

are home with their child,

when they hear odd noises
coming from the bathroom.

So Zul goes to check it out

and sees this.

A six and a half foot, slimy,

extremely grotesque creature,

slithering out
of their toilet.

Zul and Puteri are stunned.

It resembles a snake.

But most definitely is not.

So, what is this thing?

I mean...
Whatever it is,

I wouldn't want to
be sitting on that toilet

when it decides
to make its appearance.

What kind of plumbing do
they have there?

I mean this thing is thick,
big around.

I mean as thick as a
boa constrictor.

And it's got this
tiny little head.

And it doesn't move like
a snake, if anything it's...

It's more like a giant
sea slug or something.

It sort of looks
thicker in body

like I might expect an
alligator or some sort of large lizard to look but...

It's not clear that it
looks like sludge.

It looks like living sludge.

In that area there
is local legend

and precedence to say
that what's being seen

might point to something
else entirely.

A creature of legend known
as the Nabau,

which in Malaysian
culture is a huge,

serpentine, aquatic creature

and it was said to have
the head of a dragon,

seven nostrils, hundred feet
in length, immense.

What makes
this even creepier is that

it may have been lurking in
disturbingly close proximity

for quite some time.

Because when Zul
checks the pipes,

he can't find any entry point
for it to have gotten in from the outside.

Which leads him to
believe that the cryptid

grew up inside the pipes.

Just that idea alone

removes any sense of safety
that living in a structure

with electricity and plumbing
and all of the

niceties of contemporary life.

All that security,
out the window.

Monsters might be
living in there.

Bathrooms
are supposed to be like a safe haven to do things,

and you don't want to see
this thing crawling out of the toilet, I mean,

I would freak out.

If this is some
sort of new creature

from another planet,
alien, you know,

and it's procreating
on its own

and we know that there are
female species on this planet that can do that.

I think that there's
a likelihood

that there could be
more of this creature

wherever it came from.

And that being said there's
probably going to be some plumbing issues,

serious ones, down the line.

And plumbing
issues may be the least of the worries.

What makes this
really terrifying

is the fact that you're not
out in the middle of the woods

or the jungle or the swamp.

You're in your own home
and this creature

is quite large, it's quite
big, we don't know if it's poisonous or not.

So, this is a really
terrifying moment for

someone to experience
this in their own home.

Though they
don't know exactly what this thing is,

Zul and Puteri don't waste
any more time trying to figure it out.

They quickly and carefully put
the slimy creature into a sack

and release it into
a nearby river.

Because even
mysterious cryptids

deserve a second chance.

Thanks for this. Now I can
never use the toilet again.

But not too brave.
