than at the farm.

You know, I like to get up early, so, I mean,

the sun's rising, the windmill's spinning,

goats are coming out of the barn.

It's like heaven -- today especially.

I'm on cloud nine because it's not a typical day

in the Gaines family.

Somebody told me that you grew up on a farm, yeah?

I did grow up on a farm.

I was fortunate enough about a year ago

to be invited to one of his Tim Tebow Foundation events.

They do a ton of amazing work across the world,

and it just so happens there's a family in Waco, Texas,

that is in need of a wheelchair-accessible home.

And Tim asked us if we'd be willing to help find a home

and renovate it.

Well, tell me about this family.

I heard that you've got a family in mind.

Well, it's a local family that has gone through a lot.

And our goal at the Tim Tebow Foundation is,

we want to fight for people that can't fight for themselves.

And we really believe this family,

they need us to come behind them and support them,

to love them and to have their back.

Come on, man. How many kids?

Two special, special young boys.

I see. They're gonna need wheelchair access to come and go.

Dude, we've got a house that we've been thinking about.

The downside to this house is, it doesn't have access

like you're talking about from the ADA standpoint --

the wheelchair accessibility, et cetera.

But I feel like if we put our heads together,

we might be able to figure out

how to make this house work for this family.

We have two amazing sons --

Calan, who's 9, and Lawson, who's 5,

and we are the Copp family.

Calan and Lawson have a life-threatening condition.

It affects their ability to stand and walk on their own,

so they started using wheelchairs at a very young age.

We are currently living in a small apartment.

A home with wheelchair accessibility

would mean the world to us.

All right, boys.

If you could only pick one thing that ended up

in your new house, what would it be?

A toy chest.

Toy chest. I guarantee you, Tim, we can pull that off.

What do you need in the house?

I just get great joy

out of having them around me all the time.

We just would love to have them --

a big enough kitchen to where they can be with me.

You know, a small office, but to where I could still see out

to make sure that everybody's safe and sound.

Just listening to what they're needing, what they want --

That's the kind of stuff that really inspires us

to hurry up and get after it

so we can give them the home of their dreams.

I'm about to go show Mr. Tim y'all's house.

And we're gonna see if this is gonna make sense.

But if we can put two and two together,

I think we're gonna be able to work this out.

CHIP: All right, Tim, this is it.

From a structural standpoint, the shell, the roof,

and the foundation couldn't be better. Solid.

But the interior, it's literally like a blank canvas,

which I think is gonna work in our favor in this case.

But it was built in 1961.

It's about 2,220 square feet, so I think they'll have room

to make it a three-bedroom, maybe a two-baths.

I like that. I think that's pretty awesome.

Okay, good. Jo, so, what do you think?

What do we do out here?

This feels a little heavy,

so I'm just trying to figure out a way to balance it.

It's a really interesting porte cochere.

I think, again, from the Copps' perspective --

Did you just go with "porte cochere"?

Yeah, that's it. He just threw that out there to impress you.

What do you think? I almost threw it out there before you did.

I was thinking "porte cochere."

CHIP: Wide open spaces right here, man.

This house has been on the market forever.

This is not an easy one to sell typically.

So, right when you walk in, I'm seeing it, like,

entry, living, dining, kitchen. Living room.

Yeah. All in one. Kitchen with a big island.

This is all -- Yeah.

Open this thing up, man. I love that.

And then over here just off the entry,

I think we could do

a built-in mudroom/ kind of desk area

for the boys with custom desks and storage

so when they come through the front door,

they have a place to put their things

and also do their homework.

And then you drop the living room back there.

And then maybe a large built-in for their TV and storage.

A really pretty light fixture.

And then to add in some natural light, we'll put in two doors

that lead out to the backyard.

And then your kitchen over here, so that whole space will be

all new lower cabinets, all new upper cabinets.

You've got new backsplash, all new appliances,

a really large island,

and obviously, something that's practical for the boys.

So it can be a regular island, and then it dips down

so they have their own place at the island. Sure.

This wall here, I'd love to just build that back up.

Yeah. Then a master suite.

All right. Let's go walk around a little bit,

make sure we understand what's what.

So, you've got a bedroom here which looks kind of small.

Okay.

It does look kind of small. And then this bedroom...

It's huge. It's huge,

so it's almost like this seems like a little office.

If we can move this wall here... Okay.

Really square up these rooms, give them plenty of space.

This is gonna all be hallway.

So, what is all that back there?

So, I'm thinking that's gonna be their bathroom.

One bathroom? Two. I think two bathrooms.

Two bathrooms. I think one bathroom

will be a shower room that's ADA-compliant,

and then we'll do an ADA-compliant powder bath.

that we've got to take apart.

most of the hard work over here is done...

which is sweet, because that leaves Duke plenty of room

to rummage through some scrap metal and copper.

This is such a special project.

We're so excited.

For me today, it's just trying to make sure

that we're moving in the right direction.

So anything on here that you're like, "You know,

I just don't think that'll work for us,"

I just want to hear your thoughts. Okay.

Okay. First impressions, all that kind of stuff

will be really helpful for me. Okay.

So, here's the exterior.

[ Laughing ] Oh. Oh, wow.

The brick color -- Wanting to really just freshen this up.

Want to use a really pretty gray.

New windows, new shutters.

And in the background, you'll see some railing.

Double-entry doors with the side windows.

Landscape alone will bring this thing to life, so...

That is amazing.

For the entry, one of the things I was thinking was, again,

just that balance of functionality,

but, also, this beauty.

You've got this really pretty library wall.

And then you have this functional

and practical space for your boys.

So, they've got these little desks, tons of storage.

Yeah, and I can see the boys independently drawing there.

They will love the desks.

So, then, in to the living room.

Built-in for the TV.

So, you'll have the wood doors here.

And then two doors that lead to the backyard.

Wow. That is gonna be awesome. That's great.

And then moving into the kitchen.

[ Gasps ] Oh, my goodness. Wow.

This is your space. Yes.

So, in the kitchen, you'll have all new cabinets,

countertops, backsplash, an large island

with an attached table that's a perfect height for the boys,

and then a separate wheelchair-accessible sink

for them, as well.

They will love that. They were...

They are going to wash their hands all the time.

Sweet! That is so great.

I think it's a fun little addition.

That's amazing. Yes!

I love that. Thank you.

Moving into the boys' room.

[ Gasps ] Oh, my gosh! Wow.

Gonna do this chair rail with wood,

navy on the shutters, on their sliding door

for their closet, but also here.

Cork wall, peg wall, magnetic wall.

Grab bars that go here.

At any point, if they want to get up, they can.

They're gonna be able to be very active in their rooms now.

This is their bathroom.

We're having a little more fun with this one.

The black and white on the floor.

It'll be ADA-accessible.

So, you'll have two sinks, plenty of storage here.

Then these are the mirrors that you can tilt down or up.

I think they'll love it.

Moving into the wet room, nice tile on the floor

that goes up to the wall, bench here, grab bars here.

Trying to incorporate these lockers,

and then we want to do a fun quote on this wall

that's something -- just a good morning inspiration

for everybody. Yes, yes.

Absolutely.

We would not be the family we are right now

without the support of our community,

which now includes Tim Tebow and his foundation,

Chip and Joanna, Angel Flight.

They're all coming together to give us

the support that we need.

We couldn't be more grateful

for what they are going to provide for the boys

to give them true independence

in their home for the first time.

Copp project looks great.

You know, obviously, not a whole lot of demo had to happen.

But after that, we had to frame a few of the rooms

that Jo was interested in.

And now it's starting to feel like the Copp house.

Hey, Chip. Hey, Jo.

Hey, what you doing?

I'm just stopping by to see the new layout.

It turned out good. Those are pretty.

Well, you know, I had an idea.

Instead of just using plain glass

in these sidelights in the foyer...

Yeah. ...what if we use that?

How many of those do you have? Four.

The lead glass windows were here from the very beginning.

I mean, these are in perfect, pristine order.

If I can figure out how to make this work,

we'll either do this floor to ceiling like this,

and I can reconfigure the cutout --

I feel that's gonna be that character.

I love it.

And Chip...

[ Imitating trumpet playing fanfare ]

...had this brilliant idea

to incorporate these antique leaded glass windows

that were originally here,

that was in this original house --

incorporate those instead of the windows that we had to buy.

So not only is it an amazing design decision,

but, also, it helps with the budget.

They were wanting two vans to fit.

No can do, muchachos.

Why "no can do"?

JOANNA: So, we're back at the Copp house.

All the framing is finished.

We've got a lot of the drywall in,

the tape and float happening.

Today, though, we need to really focus on the exterior.

Okay, Chip.

So, we need to get a plan for the circle drive

that's gonna come underneath this porte cochere

so that they can unload their vehicles

under this pass-through.

But they're wanting two vans to fit.

No can do, muchachos.

Why "no can do"?

We only need 2 1/2 more feet,

but they're not gonna let us do it. Wow.

So, we went to the city, asking, "Hey, can we move this

just a couple of feet closer to the road?"

It makes perfect sense.

That way, the Copp family

can have both their vans in the driveway.

And they said, "Not only can you not do that,

but the porte cochere that's there, you're lucky

we're not making you back off of this easement."

So, they've been very gracious,

and we're gonna take what they've given us.

We've got a great spot.

They can bring in two vehicles and kind of kiss each other.

So they can kind of at least -- Okay. Yeah.

So at least they have the option of -- they're both covered.

They're just not side by side. Right.

The one thing I was excited about moving it forward

was kind of changing the elevation.

This almost feels like a back porch.

I can see that. It doesn't look like your front elevation.

With the circular drive, that's gonna solve that.

Well, that's definitely gonna help.

What I'd love to do is resurfacing, like,

in the gables, that brick.

Maybe doing some shingles... CHIP: Okay.

...so it doesn't feel so brick-heavy. Yeah.

So, I think the key here is to make it feel

like it's just a beautiful front elevation.

So with that, I'm gonna mess with the materials a bit.

I'm gonna leave it exactly where it is,

but just kind of build on top of it,

maybe add a window in the gable,

maybe add some shingles, some rock.

I want to really dress it up so it doesn't feel so much

like a pass-through.

I can landscape, right... Yeah, of course.

...on the front of it?

That's not gonna encroach anymore?

Absolutely. Okay.

I'm gonna work with what we have and just go from there.

Big picture -- That saved us a fortune.

Saved us a lot of time. Okay.

So, we've been working at the Copp project,

and we knew that we had a bunch of material to salvage.

So we're here today at our local scrapyard,

and we're gonna try to get as much money as we can,

because Duke and I had an idea of maybe

trying to buy a little something for the Copp children.

The Copp house, it's hard to believe,

but I feel like this one really came up quick.

All the cabinets are installed now.

The trim is going up on the exterior,

the concrete for the circular driveway is in,

and we've got all new HVAC going in.

And inside, Chip installed

these beautiful leaded glass windows.

I think this thing is just really rolling.

I think next is flooring and paint.

build a table that's attached to the island

so it comes off of it, so it'll just have two turned legs.

We're doing this project for the Copp family.

They have two little boys that are in a wheelchair,

so we're just trying to make this

as easy for their family,

but also this beautiful space.

So today, I am meeting with Clint

on the Copp project.

We have a special table

that we want to make for the kitchen area

that comes off of the island.

So I'm excited because this is something

that was really important for them.

You want this table

to go the exact width of the island? Yes.

Which is three feet, six inches.

Okay.

So, that's a good, wide table.

Two legs.

I really want it to feel decorative.

Sure. So I kind of wanted to overdo it

with the turned legs.

Oh, yeah, fun. You know what I mean?

The height is kind of unique

for the boys' wheelchairs.

With Clint's table,

this is a perfect example of how it's really 50/50.

It's 50% practical.

This is for her boys to wheel up to

to be able to be a part of

what she's doing in the kitchen.

But then with the beautiful turned legs,

it's also a beautiful design element

for the kitchen as well.

So I can't wait to see all of it come together.

CHIP: You know, this project

is really getting crazy exciting.

We pulled so many people together

to make this house perfect for the Copp family.

Tons of local tradespeople

have volunteered their time and materials.

And in a really fun surprise,

we found out that a while back,

the Copps actually applied for Make-A-Wish.

So those really nice folks are surprising these boys

with a great, fun, accessible backyard.

They're going all-out with a brand-new playhouse,

a paved racetrack

that'll run the entire perimeter of the yard,

and this awesome turf play area.

So if we can get this thing set up just right,

we can get this turf installed,

we should be in pretty good shape.

All right. Well, let's roll it out.

This stuff is indestructible,

so I can imagine these boys

are gonna be able to get out of their chairs,

get on the grass, get dirty, mix it up a little bit.

It's gonna be like they have

their own little stadium back here.

So it's gonna be green.

Rain or shine, they can always play on it.

It's gonna be awesome.

And every time I come over here,

it seems like they've added

an additional element of surprise

for these Copp boys.

And to be honest with you,

no family I can think of

deserves it more than these folks.

Where do we start? I think they're in the back.

Now, I don't know if you can get them by yourself.

JOANNA: I have not ever seen that before.

Look at this.

So today, we are at the warehouse,

and I'm looking for an old set of lockers

that I've had for probably 10 years now.

So, it's two sets, Chip.

Isn't this cute? Yeah.

Sweet.

How do you want to incorporate these in the Copp house?

So, they have their bathroom,

and then behind the bathroom

is the wet room where the big shower is. Okay.

And so there's this wall

that I thought we could kind of build out

and incorporate these in it.

Okay. But it's kind of tight,

so I want to know if we can fit both sets

or just one set. I see.

I really want it to make a statement,

so I have a feeling if we can fit it,

I'd like to use both of them in that bathroom.

But we're gonna set them into the wall,

do, like, a fun saying in the bathroom --

a really fun sports quote or something

that I think will inspire the boys

as they're getting ready in the morning.

Only champions walk through this door.

So, the Copp project is just moving right along.

The playhouse for the boys just got painted,

and they've installed these adorable bridges

along the racetrack in the backyard.

And inside, all the heavy lifting is done

and we're focusing on all the pretty little details,

like the backsplash, the trim work, the paint.

And I just love the space.

I feel like I can already see their family

just being in here

and it just, hopefully, serving them well.

You hold it up, sooner we're done.

Okay, mama. Higher or lower?

Higher.

I want to make sure it's not on any of the grout.

That looks really good.

So, with this washroom for the boys,

I wanted it to feel like this, you know, locker room

with the inspiring quote on the wall.

This is the first room they go in in the morning

when they're getting ready.

So I went back and forth on what quotes to use,

and Melissa said over and over

when the boys were young, they kept saying,

"I want to do it.

I can do it."

And so I think the "I can and I will"

is a perfect saying for these boys.

They've got this.

I think once we get

the letters punched out on the sign

and get them powder-coated black,

we'll get the hooks up.

I mean, this bathroom is 99% finished.

I can't wait to see how it turns out.

What about hard hats?

This would be pretty sweet.

You should give them baseball cards.

So, today's a really cool day.

Duke and I went to work a couple of weeks back.

We salvaged a bunch of metal,

and we kept some of that money on the side

so that we could bless the Copp family.

And sweet Duke decided

he wanted to buy just some necessities --

the bare necessities for the Copp boys.

What about a thermos? This could be cool. No, no, Dad.

What about this little guy? No!

Do you think they'd want some salsa?

What about a bell? Shot glasses?

Shopping with my dad is kind of impossible.

You know what this is? A sewing machine.

And then, look at this skirt I found.

Why is it impossible to shop with me?

'Cause you look at everything and you're like,

"Ooh, we should buy this."

We can get one of these wooden ones,

we can get two of these antique ones,

or we can get this whole jar of different cars.

CHIP: Man, we are getting right down

to the final details on this Copp project.

We're putting in the landscaping

and finishing off these boys' really cool rooms.

So, I would say out of all the things

that I designed in the Copp home,

the thing I'm most excited about,

what's going in these boys' rooms.

I really sat and thought about

how I can make this interactive.

So we're installing grab bars

so that the boys can stand and work

at three different boards --

a magnetic board, a cork board,

and this LEGO Duplo wall.

I wanted to keep it really inspiring for them

so that when they're both in their own rooms,

it was their favorite space in the house.

And then I'm gonna have baskets down here

for the actual bricks.

So, Lawson and Calan's mom told me

that one of the things that they loved to play with

are these LEGO Duplo bricks.

They use it for therapy,

so I wanted to make sure we incorporated that

into both of their bedrooms.

Something like this? Yep.

All the way just in the middle,

and we'll do this... Top to bottom.

...in Calan's room, as well. Sweet.

This is definitely the end of this project

as far as construction goes.

We wanted to really do something fun

in the boys' room.

But other than that,

once we're finished with this,

this thing is complete

and I get to start moving in.

that we're attaching to the island.

This is the thing that Melissa, I think,

was really wanting --

something that when she's at the island,

her boys can be working at the table.

I love the entry.

Right when you walk in,

we have this large open area

to make it functional for the boys.

Kitchen -- I'm excited about Melissa

being able to cook in there with her boys.

And then, the bathrooms.

The letters for the quote sign are finished,

and they look great.

And then last but not least, the boys' rooms.

CHIP: Man, these things are heavier than they look.

JOANNA: Cute colors. Yeah, the boys are gonna love these.

You know, there's so many emotions that are going on.

I think today knowing that tomorrow

the Copps finally get to see their home,

they get to move in.

I think just seeing how the community

has just come together to bless this family,

I mean, just everything about this project

has been so sweet.

We've been honored to be a part of it.

And so, we actually found

those old leaded-glass windows,

so we added this really pretty cased opening

but just thought this would be

a great catch-all space for you,

It's so pretty.

That was such a precious moment to me

that they felt at home,

and that they immediately felt like

they could go and start doing things. Right.

And that made me feel amazing.

It's actually white oak,

and we attached it to the island.

It's great to have it right here in the kitchen.

I just love how everything's integrated for the boys.

We're gonna have so much fun learning recipes

and just doing things for the first time

that we always imagined.
