take down the railing

We're openin' up that stairwell
so that it kinda gives

that first impression
of an open footprint.

Other than that,
we've got some really

high-quality cabinets
that we're gonna try to salvage

and take to the, uh,
Habitat for Humanity folks.

Little bit of demo
on the fireplace

and we're gonna be off
to the races.

just doing cosmetic updates
in certain rooms.

But the biggest portion

of this renovation
is the exterior.

The main thing we're gonna do
is just update the brick,

update all the siding
since a lot of it was rotted

and then install
these new dormers

to really bring balance
to the space.

And then, another thing
I was thinking of doing was

adding this fun pergola

since you don't have
a front porch.

I like that.
I love the dormers.

We also love
indoor/outdoor spaces.

-So that's great.

I like it.
So now moving on
to the inside,

I'm opening up the stairs

so that you can see
through into this office.

And I was thinking of doing,
like, a wall of built-ins.

You also have a little
seating nook here

-We have so many classic books,

you need somewhere to put 'em.

So in this dining room,

what we've done is we've
eliminated two of the doors.

We're gonna move 'em
to the other side.

And this is the French door.

So it's a fun little in-and-out
to a front patio.

-So into the kitchen,

we're basically removing
the little breakfast nook

now that we've gained
this larger dining room.

And now your kitchen's
extended out.

And so, basically,
when you walk in,

you've got this large island
in the middle.

We've got some wood elements

with the pantry,
the vent hood.

Then, this little strip
of wood along this backsplash,

I think, is gonna
be really unique.

If there's a specific
inspiration or material

that you really love,
we can incorporate that.

So we have this
bowling lane wood

that came from
the bowling centers

that my dad owns.

And it was the first one
my grandfather opened.

-Oh, my goodness.
-And so when we...

-That's cool.
-...just closed that one,

he -- we all collected wood
from it in my family.
Wow.

And so that was something we'd
wanted to be able to use

in our home.

So the one idea
was to put it as an island.

of history to incorporate.

So we'll see what
we can do with that.

Moving into the living room,

we've removed this
whole wall here.

So it's gonna
make it feel better.

give it some texture.

But this is just a cute cushion.

And it's, like, a little
sunk-in area that...

And so we're really
wanting to incorporate it

on the island
in their kitchen.

on every project we do,

I love to implement, um,
just pieces or design elements

that have a story,
that have history.

when you sand it down,

you'll still see the circle,

we'd be able to keep

makin' a lotta progress

at the Severns project.

We've already poured
all this concrete.

We've got
the dormers added.

Gonna make a huge difference
on their front elevation.

And we've fixed
all the siding.

But today, I really get
to continue honing my craft,

kinda conveyer belt.

You could even put, you know,
some spices in it

or maybe greenery.

But also, with these shelves
and the corbels,

I think the white
with that really pretty

kind of walnut color brown

will offer enough contrast
where there's character.

But also, it'll still
keep it really clean.

So these are for the mantel.

I'm gonna set these
over here by the fireplace.
