(Adapted from Shen Cangmei's novel Sleeping Beside Yan Shao)

=Episode 15=

Don't...

Leader Shen,

shouldn't you take the hint

and step out for a bit?

I'm not leaving.

Why not?

There's an agreement in Shaokuangtian Mansion.

If I leave, you might kill me.

Just pretend I'm not here.

I swear,

ever since you gave me this whistle,

I've carried it with me.

They took it from me

when they captured me.

Liar.

You still dare to deny it?

You searched her body?

It wasn't me. It was Hua Qi.

See? They took it from me.

Lin Wanci

had the exact same eagle-bone whistle.

What?

You gave both of us the same gift?

You're terrible.

I only gave this whistle to you.

No one else.

So she must've seen it

and made a copy?

Good.

You're finally starting to use your brain.

I've always had a brain.

That was because she admires you.

Since she can't have you,

she wants to have something of yours instead.

Wrong.

When you were being hunted down by the Wuwang Pavilion,

she blew the whistle

to lure me into a trap

so I had no time to save you guys.

How did you know we were being chased by the Wuwang Pavilion?

I...

I...

Have you been following me all along?

I...

Let's go.

Why are there suddenly so many snakes?

This must've been a snake cave all along.

They fear bright flames.

- They must have held back... - Lie.

Go.

Before pouncing all at once.

Where is Lie going? Come back!

Leader Shen,

now that we've left Shaokuangtian Mansion,

we should part ways.

Where are you two headed?

None of your business.

It's an open path so just take your own path.

Let's go.

I discovered a bamboo house in the woods yesterday.

We'll stay there.

Yan Shao. Yan Shao.

Who said you could follow us?

A distinguished guest has arrived.

Why?

Are you not going to welcome me?

You got poisoned by a snake

and still act like nothing happened.

Even after I injured you, you kept going

without showing weakness.

I have to say I'm impressed.

All right.

You two, that's enough.

Yan Shao, treat his poison first.

You, help heal Yan Shao.

Since ancient times, the righteous and the wicked don't go together.

But in desperate times, a deal can be made.

In any case,

don't let your pride get in the way.

Staying alive is important.

All right?

Look!

I built this automatic bathing mechanism.

What do you think?

(It'll help me recover faster)

(while I meditate.)

Not bad, huh?

Don't just stand there. Hurry up and wash up.

There won't be any water if the rain stops.

Come on.

The water's still a little cold.

You can try it out first.

I'll improve this issue next time. Is that okay?

Cold is good. The colder, the better.

I need cold water.

Then go ahead and wash up. I won't look.

I'm leaving.

A young lady trying

to peek at a man bathing, huh?

What nonsense are you talking about?

I already heard it.

Heard what?

Your thoughts.

You practically said them out loud.

Didn't you hear yourself?

That can't be.

You are betrothed

to Tiangang's Leader.

What nonsense are you talking about?

Leader Shen,

are you afraid to slaughter it?

How could that be?

I'm

just looking for a better angle to cut.

Rong Shukuang, you won't understand this.

If you're afraid, just say so.

Hand it over.

- I'll do it. - Just hand it over.

No need.

Give it to me.

I can do it.

Don't run!

My chicken!

Stop right there!

Come here...

What are you guys doing?

Tell me!

Master.

We were chasing the chicken...

I'll go and slaughter the chicken.

I'll let you guys liven things up a bit.

Am I the first person to see you bathe?

I guess you could say that.

What do you mean by "guess"?

Normally, a proper lady would cover her face

and run away at a sight like this.

But you're something else.

A proper lady?

How many proper ladies have watched you...

You...

The mood is perfect.

Don't you think we should do something?

Catch the chicken!

Catch it!

Go and catch the chicken.

Shen Zuitian, I'll get you for this!

So? Is it ready yet?

That smells great.

Sickly one.

- Who are you calling sickly? - Who are you calling sickly?

I was talking about myself.

What?

Aren't we all a little sickly at this point?

Well, now the chicken's gone.

We'll have to settle for grilled mushrooms and wine.

Shen Zuitian, you've truly

changed my perspective on you.

How about we play a drinking game?

I can teach you

the "Drifting in the Martial World."

In the world of martial arts, who can escape the blade?

Cut you with three strikes. Cut you with four...

Five strikes.

Truth.

What's the question?

Which one would you choose between Yan Shao and the treasure key?

I'll drink instead.

Yan Shao.

Again!

In the world of martial arts, who can escape the blade?

- Cut you with one strike. - Two strikes.

Do you have any secrets?

I do.

I don't believe I'll keep losing. Again.

All right.

In the world of martial arts, who can escape the blade?

Cut you with one strike.

Cut you with two strikes.

Leader Shen, tell us

one of your secrets.

I once spared two people

out of mercy.

Yet, I've regretted it ever since.

Come on, it's your turn now.

Hurry up.

Ready? Go!

In the world of martial arts, who can escape the blade?

Here you go.

You wanted to drink, right?

Here, drink up since you love it so much.

Is that enough?

You sure can hold your liquor.

Again.

Come.

In the world of martial arts, who can escape the blade?

Do you want to keep playing?

Of course.

I still have a lot of questions.

- One strike. - Four strikes.

- Three... - Four strikes.

Yan Shao, why did you save me?

It's a long story.

The night is long and I have the time.

Leader Shen,

we met years ago at Misty Moon Village.

That night, you spared my life.

That's why I went easy on you

a few times.

Young Master,

is anybody there?

There's nobody here. Search over there.

Yes, Young Master.

So you were one

of the two children I spared.

I grew up in Misty Moon Village.

Your alcohol tolerance is terrible.

Wait a minute.

What is the meaning of this?

Rong Shukuang, this is as far as I can help you.

I... I...

The Crimson Lotus Heart made my life a living hell.

The Fuxian treasure...

You have to get it back.

Even if I die,

you must...

You must take back what belongs to the Shen Family.

The mineral vein map

is hidden in the treasure.

Do you two take me

for a fool?

Drink up.

No cheating.

Drink!

He's talking in his dream.

He's drunk.

Let's go.

My leg has gone numb from sleeping.

You're too strong.

Maybe we should take a break?

We've been on the run all night.

He definitely won't catch up now.

When we left,

he wasn't actually asleep.

How do you know?

He sounded drunk.

But he was actually controlling his breathing.

Then why did he let us go?

He's injured and still has poison in his body.

He didn't dare fight us.

Then...

Then we should hurry.

We were still too late.

Leader Shen left a mark and he headed that way.

Slow down.

Are you all right?

I'm fine.

Lie's prints go this way,

which means Zuitian must be in this direction.

Be careful.

Keep looking.

Zuitian should be close.

They have horses.

I know.

Then they'll find the bamboo house

and us soon.

I know.

What's the point of saying that?

Think of something.

You're usually full of ideas.

As for Tiangang,

it's powerful, right?

Why didn't Tiangang...

Once we get through that forest,

we'll reach the main road.

They're gone.

Zuitian,

are you all right?

Why does it still smell like alcohol?

We had a wild night of drinking

and it was great.

Aren't you going to ask

who I drank with?

Who?

Rong Shukuang and Yan Shao.

Why didn't you tell me sooner?

Where did they go?

Yan Shao is injured and poisoned.

He won't get far.

We can definitely catch up to them.

Why are you here?

Looking for something.

What?

The betrothal jewelry.

When Hua Qi captured me,

I hid it.

I thought you were not willing to get married.

That jewelry is expensive.

I couldn't just let Hua Qi take it for free.

That's a good excuse.

Where did you hide it?

I hid it...

This isn't hiding.

You're throwing it away.

Forget it.

It's just a piece of jewelry.

Mount Moye has plenty of jewelry. Let's go.

Wait.

I'll be honest with you.

It's the treasure key.

Where is that place?

Where exactly did you throw it?

Here.

Right here.

Why?

I used the sun to mark the spot.

You wouldn't understand if I told you.

It's something important.

Aren't you afraid I'll steal the treasure?

I am.

But I still trust you.

After all,

you've risked your life helping me.

If I still tried to deceive you,

that'd be too ungrateful.

Let's go.

Be careful.

Didn't you say you were going to meet up with someone?

What do you like to order?

Beef, sesame flatbread, and two liang of liquor.

Feng Ming and Fei Wu already sent Young Lady Lin over

and went to find you.

Send them a message.

Tell them to stick to the planned route.

(Dockside Tavern)

Your intel exchange spot

is pretty well set up.

Of course.

Shukuang. Yan Shao.

You're finally back.

Are you both all right?

Shaoci and Yingluo have been searching everywhere for you.

I was worried too.

But there wasn't much I could do.

Yan Shao told me

you were also captured by Wuwang Pavilion.

It's a relief you made it out.

I was really useless.

I caused Yan Shao a lot of trouble.

But luckily, he rushed to save you right away.

By the way,

I heard Shen Zuitian fell off

the cliff with you.

He's not dead.

How did you know that?

Because he's been with us these past few days.

He never left our side.

You've been with Shen Zuitian this whole time?

We drank, caught fish,

and even played games together.

The good and the evil are supposed to be sworn enemies.

How could you be so close to him?

We had no choice

since it was a matter of survival.

Since everything is fine now,

we should set off.

After all, Shukuang's wedding is the priority.

We can't delay it.

Why the rush?

Shouldn't we wait for Young Master Lin and the others?

If we move together as a big group,

we would be an easy target.

So it's not safe.

We should split up

and meet somewhere secure.

Good idea.

Let's do that.

We've been traveling for days.

Let's at least wait

until Shaoci and the others arrive.

No.

Your wedding date is set and you can't afford to miss it.

Prepare a carriage for us.

All right.

You said

traveling together is too risky.

You should stay behind

and wait for Young Master Lin.

Shukuang, I want to go with you.

At least you'll have company.

Wanci,

I know your concerns.

But this journey has been dangerous

and exhausting.

How can I

let you suffer through it too?

Stay here

and wait for Shaoci and the others

and depart with them.

The road ahead is long.

We'll meet again.

Wait for me!

I'm storing up energy right now. You wouldn't understand.

How many have you eaten already?

Have we met before?

No, you never met him.

Young Lady Lin.

You're finally here.

I thought you weren't coming.

You need me.

Of course, I would come.

The road ahead is dangerous.

Be careful.

You too.

Welcome back, Leader Shen.

Go and rest at Wuwang Pavilion before setting off again.

No. I'm going to kill them.

Let's return to Wuwang Pavilion

and treat the Leader's wounds first.

In just a few more days,

we'll reach Mount Moye.

What if we just ran away,

left everything behind,

traveled the world together, and lived freely?

Wouldn't that be nice?

You've been drinking too much lately. So stop drinking.

Truth or dare?

Sure.

Do you know

what I want to say the most right now?

Tell me. I'm listening.

Come.

Closer.

I found a crack in time and space.

What?

Do you know how I got here?

I don't know.

Neither do I.

This person

isn't really me.

I'm not supposed to exist in this world.

So

time and space must be broken.

The universe is full of mysteries.

Young Lady Lin,

did you poison Rong Shukuang

with the Crimson Lotus Heart?

Do you know

why the poison hasn't taken effect on her yet?

It's because Yan Shao

has been drawing the poison into himself

and taking it into his own body.

That's impossible.

All I know is the Poison Extraction Technique

is a secret technique from the Tang Clan,

known only to a few.

Yan Shao is risking his life for her?

Their relationship

is far more complicated than we thought.

That just makes

me even more determined to separate them.

Someone will be leaving some markings along the way.

As long as you follow marks,

you'll catch up with them soon.
