but who is Ridouan Taghi?Actually

Ridouan Taghi was born in Morocco
in a very large family.

He has 8 sisters and two brothers
a family of 11 siblings

He came to the Netherlands at a
very young age and grew up in Vianen.

He went to High School in Nieuwegein
but he didn't finished it.

He ended up quitting school early.

He was member of a youth gang
called Bad boys.

A group of young people from the
Utrecht region who mainly hang out at

shopping centre Cityplaza
in Nieuwegein

That group engaged in some ...

burglaries, later large-scale
smuggling, weapons...

well and you see what that gang was
actually up to in the 80s

and in the early nineties Ridouan Taghi
became a teen

from the High School with neat little
guy ambitions who wanted to climb

he was first a small player in
that group literally.

By that time they still call him
small or nose because of his

stature and he was still young

He also get beaten up sometimes
by the sculpted body guys.

but Taghi had a trump on his hands

his family was already deeply
involved on hashish smuggling

They had a route from Morocco to Europe

and that became useful for Taghi

I see that he does had opportunities
and he was active

at some point they were using
the same lines than

his grandfather on his days.

And later they start smuggling
cocaine that was

of course much more lucrative
than hashish.

So he was basically about those
old routes, he used to load

In Morocco via Spain to Netherlands
and then in no time he got really rich

So he rose very quickly in the hierarchy.

he became very rich therefore
he could pay very well for the

people who worked for and Bad Boys,
that youth from Bad Boys

later became the core of the
organization of Ridouan Taghi

you see that in that time the bond
of trust lubricated and they were

very together all of them pulls together
in the crimes then it is possible

later of course in that road you

Ridouan Taghi's organization

How is your relation with him?

In a large family, age differences

where we grew up

we were also the only Moroccans

his environment, his formation
in those crucial years of his life...

-And When do you think this
environment start to influence?

-I think between eight and
sixteen years old

Nabil impressionable

that kind of brotherhood that
he could find in those young people

they were together and
understand each other

and I think he sort of rolled
into that along the way

I think we all didn't see it
coming to this extent

this is really one...

it has been a terrible shock

for us all

I also think it's really hard
to see it coming

it is very crazy

gets to know top criminal Ridouan Taghi

that is how he recall
that meeting

- I went there with friends and
got in touch with Ridouan Taghi

we use to play games with each other
there and also Ridouan Taghi

I knew he was into
hashish from Morocco via

Spain to the Netherlands
and other countries

They both come from Arabic background

and get along well together

Ridouan was a nice cheerful boy

but if he had been drinking
then he could become unpredictable

Business is quickly conducted
in the tea house.

Taghi asks Nabil for help
with a large drug transport.

Ridouan was able to arrange clients
in Madrid who wanted Speed

He want me to arrange
the logistics

And he start to work within the
organization of Ridouan Taghi

an organization, that according
to justice, not only

deals with large drug shipments,

but also with brutal assassinations.

And the leaders of the group are
Ridouan Taghi, Said Razzouki and Mao R.

So Said Razzouki and Mao R. were the ones
who get the hitters, drivers, cars..

Also spotters for example to
observe potential targets

and prepare duets for the murders.

Spy shop owner Ronald Bakker

Yesterday afternoon a
59 years old man was shot dead

the shooting had a lot of impact
in the neighbourhood.

- At 6:10 yesterday I was sitting
in front of the computer, and I

heard a motorcycle driving away
at an extreme speed

in such a way that
I just got up and look.

it was driven by a young man

It is normal family, and yes
that something like this come up...

You just don't expect that at all

To me is one of the most shocking
murders in all Marengo process.

is the
murder of Ronald Bakker,

because the man hasn't any
criminal background

but the Spy shop owner was
murdered for nothing

just pure idiocy

I went to the place where Ronald Bakker
used to work a Spy shop in Nieuwegein

Here the spotters from
Taghi's organization

have been watching him closely.

Those spotters had the task to
have the target killed

for over weeks maybe even months
they followed him

and map out his daily moves

they would watch Ronald Bakker
from this side of the water channel

Ronald Bakker was working
at a Spy shop that is

located there in that row of buildings
on the industrial zone of Nieuweigen

and what did those spotters actually
did was to came here every days.

They quietly park their car
here in the neighbourhood.

a White Citroën C4

then they took lot of fishing
stuff out of the trunk

and then they walked that way

So this is the place where
the spotters use to stay

actually they were about
200 meters from the

the Spy shop and that helps to map out
exactly the life of Ronald Bakker.

Who he received here,
what time he was going home,

the car he was driving...
That was quite a difficult job.

the spotters used binoculars
and from this distance

they could look right
into the building

they also followed the wrong person
for a while, but eventually

a second spotter came along
who actually knew

how Ronald Bakker look like

this is how they actually
got back on track

and also get ready for the
day of the assassination.

That day they noticed

that Ronald Bakker at
some point left the shop.

so they quickly took all their
fishing and spying stuff

crossed that street.

and quickly go back to the
car, that white Citroën C4

and at that moment Ronald Bakker
came by here

and drove off the industrial zone
they was watching him from there

as he advanced to his home in Huizen

actually before he drove into
his neighbourhood in Huizen

a hit man on motorbike
was waiting for him ,

the spotters laid back and hit man

advances, while Ronald
seats in his car unaware

the hit man approach the driver
window and shot him to dead.

Although the murder of
Ronald Bakker at first glance

seemed to be done
quite professionally

the spotters made some crucial mistakes

Actually two mistakes, the white Citroen C4

was rented under the name of one of
the spotters, and the rental company

had all cars equipped with trackers
connected to the company's computers

So the police was able
to track all their moves

which routes these car had followed,

that the car had been in
Ronald's neighbourhood

The times they was
watching him at work here.

Another mistake they made was
that there is no fish here

it all went really clumsily and
the lack of caution was such

that the employees of the Spy shop

even got suspicious at one point

so they photographed the spotters
from the Spy shop and those

photos were essential for the
investigation, cause with the photos

and the data from the rental car
tracker, it was finally possible

to arrest these spotters
and some other people.

the murderers of Ronald Bakker
received the ridiculous sentence

of 13 and 15 years in prison

and Taghi was suspected
of ordering the crime

Ronald Bakker's Spy shop
use to supply equipment

To Taghi's organization
assassination squads.

The use use to sell them PGP mobile phones

that could communicated in a veiled way.

And other eavesdropping devices.

Ridouan Taghi was not satisfied
with the quality of that equipment,

but more importantly, is
that before Ronald's death

detectives visited his Spy shop
and asked questions

about Ridouan Taghi

and Ronald Bakker and his staff
provided information

that would put the
police on the trail of

Taghi's assassination squads

Ronald Bakker had
to die, and in that case

we know that they want to
commit the attack that way

The shooter of the Spy shop owner
wasn't unknown to justice

It was a Surinamese called Gerel
Palm and the murder of Ronald Bakker

wasn't the only one he was inolved

Tonight we have a lot to
talk about Gerel Palm

Palm was already on the
wanted criminals list,

because he was allegedly involved
in a double murder attempt

In December 2016
at Noordeloos

because of a drugs conflict two men
were left seriously injured in a meadow

one of the most fascinating suspects
on the Marengo Case is Gerel Palm

He is an half Antillean half
Surinamese man, and actually

you hear lots of stories
from the criminal circuit

and there is the rumour that
he was actually

the main hip and the main
gunman of Ridouan Taghi

a man who is also part of
the club The Bad boys.

And of the boys from
Bad Boys were loyal

eventually it turned out that he
was in Suriname, and it is bizarre

that he was finally arrested in Suriname

but after a short time he fled from prison.

He managed to get a weapon to inside
the prison and with the weapon

he threatened a prison guard
and walked out of jail.

Palm seems to have played
an important role in this

organization partly because of
he is suspected of being involved

in several liquidations, we decided
that reward for information

on Gerel Palm whereabouts should double

Taghi's assassination squads are active

was a murder at this sex club in Het Gooi

ex-criminal and crime reporter Martin Kok

was murdered when he was getting
into his car at a sex club in Laren

Martin Kok had already put himself
on dangerous zones in 2016

he had a site vlinderscrime.nl, where he

actually reported on organized
crime and at some point

he mentioned the name of Ridouan Taghi.

What Martin Kok apparently didn't know,
Is that Ridouan Taghi

within his organization had stabilized

that anyone who would mention his name

would go to sleep, would be liquidated.

But Martin Kok didn't gave shit about it
and he kept posting photos of

Ridouan Taghi, co-suspects on
Marengo Case or accomplices

of Ridouan Taghi and that
placed Martin on a death list

Martin Kok also spoke a lot
about Taghi on his site

It is also not very smart of
Martin that he spoke about

Taghi like that and also
threw a photo on the site

Then you know that something can happen

He did some dangerous things

the things he wrote on his site

and He also often made
fun of those people

named names on his site

in 2016 Martin Kok narrowly escapes death

when after a night out he sees
something suspicious on his car.

About the Utrecht murders and
26 Koper storage garages

lot . right here at this place

actually it is quite easy to recognize

because I don't know if
it is symbolic or not

but all the trees near it are dead

and finally on this very spot.

Martin Kok live came to an end

and key witness Nabil B is
also involved in this murder

On the day of the murder, I was requested
to urgently check a license plate

that request came from
Taghi through Razzouki

I've done that before for the organization

check who was the owner of the vehicle

the car turns out to be
from Martin Kok's father

So Nabil forwards the data via PGP
telephone to Saïd Razzouki

who gives the information to the shooter

So the police actually managed
to do a reconstruction

there were one or two hit man

they were early on the site so
they put some bushes here

and wait for him to come
out, and at the moment he

sat in his car, a hit man came
out of the bushes and opens fire

Martin died immediately and his
partner had a strange behaviour

You actually see it on
surveillance footage.

As he and the hit man quietly
walk out of the parking lot,

it was strange and also the
police found it very strange

and Martin stay here lifeless
In the sit of his car.

The murder wasn't immediately
noticed at that time.

Inside, no one has actually
heard the shooting

until the doorman of the club actually
thought this car was strange

as he came out to check

He saw the shattered windows
and then finally saw

Martin sitting lifeless behind the wheel.

The man who was with
Martin was later arrested

on suspicion of
involvement on the murder

I saw on the news that Martin
Kok had been killed

I read he was driving his father's car

I immediately had a deja vu

I grabbed my PGP and scrolled
back...and I saw his father's name

Then it was clear to me

they got rid of him and I gave
them the license plate number

But on January 2017 everything changes

as Nabil B is assigned to
watch on a man nicknamed Imo.

I heard Imo had to use a wheelchair

I think this is because
of his gossip on Taghi,

because Imo didn't do business with Taghi

He had to go to hell as
it said in the messages

The man in question is Ali A

Nabil is assigned to provide a
car to be used on the murder

and take those pictures of the target.

Taghi in turn would send this to the
heads, the hitters, to avoid mistakes

So Taghi wanted to prevent
mistakes on this murder

but unfortunately the wrong
person was shot anyway

the victim was Hakim Changachi

- I came down and I saw him lying
there, shot in the head

- And then it turns out
that it's here with us

in the flat that happened!
a bunch of crooks!

- Can you remember that moment?

- Yes, I remember it very well

- Did you also call or

No, I live in the neighbourhood...

close to where the mistaken murder
of Hakim Changachi took place

so a lot happened in that neighbourhood

to our neighbourhood and to the
Overvecht neighbourhood itself

little brother is involved

Nabil heard through a friend that
Hakim Changachi was shot dead

someone he knows very well.

I was still thinking about it then

it won't be the wrong one anyway

And that it had to be Imo

later Nabil sees on
the media that around

one kilometer from
the crime scene

the Police found an Audi on fire

It was Around 1 o'clock on the
night of Wednesday 11

to Thursday 12 January at the
Pauw Steef in Utrecht Overvecht

at Faust Avenue, the perpetrators
then probably went to

A5 fled via Moezel Avenue and
drive to Pallas Athene Avenue

where the car was set on fire

They were talking about the
car that Nabil delivered

He is terrified and immediately
contact Said Razzouki.

Nabil: I'm very stressed because they used
that car in Hakim's murder

Said: What are you talking about?

That car I delivered to you, which was
used in Overvecht, it has been recognized

So Nabil unintentionally participated
in the murder of Hakim Changachi

the whole history of that murder club

of Ridouan Taghi in the Marengo
investigation is actually

the liquidation...the mistaken
liquidation on Hakim Changachi,

a member of a well-known
criminal family in Utrecht

The murder of Hakim
Changachi in January 2017

has actually been a moment..

That will prove to be crucial in the
major processes surrounding Taghi

especially because Hakim wasn't the target

was another young criminal

from the same flat in
Overvecht on the Pauw Avenue

He was the one that Taghi wanted to murder

Hakim Changachi is mistakenly
killed for nothing.

the Changachi family
also has a great

record in the criminal
environment in Utrecht

tried again two days
later to actually do it.

but by then a few people had already
left the organization

the later murder on Amsterdam
of the hit man who shot Hakim

and more importantly Nabil B

Nabil B is an important figure
in the Taghi's organization

but is also a good friend
of Changachi's family.

- What role has the mistaken murder
played in this whole story

- A very big role
