[Ordinary Greatness]

[Episode 23]

[Who was lying]

Be mentally prepared.

He may only live a few days.

But he will soon fall into a deep coma

and won't feel pain anymore.

Dawei.

How is it?

Master,

I never thought I had a father.

Now I finally feel that he's my father.

But I'm going to lose him.

You can find your father.

It's better than anything else.

[Nurse Station]

Dawei,

Dawei.

Is dad okay?

If my dad had a son like you,

his life would be easier than now.

And Yang Shu,

thank you.

What are you talking about?

Shu.

Don't just stand there. Sit there.

Give me some space.

Come on. Give me some space.

Stop pushing.

I'm squeezed.

You're the fattest.

I'm fat? I'm fat.

- Stop pushing. - Enough.

Dawei.

Ding.

Eat something.

Thank you.

Have you eaten?

Thank you. Thank you.

Sit down.

Dawei's mom, take care.

If you have problems or need anything,

just tell me.

We, Balihe Police Station, will help you to the end.

Thank you, Chief Wang.

Take care.

We're leaving.

Thank you.

Mom, you've been tired for days.

Sit down and take a rest.

I'm not tired.

In the past,

your dad always went everywhere alone.

This time,

so many people sent him off.

He left with everyone's support.

He won't be lonely on the way.

That's great.

Great.

Mom.

Dad is gone.

I'm the only one left.

I'll move back and live with you.

No.

Go back to your rental house.

No way.

From now on, we'll depend on each other.

No.

I'm done with your dad's funeral.

I should get busy then.

I still have to deal with

many things about the earthwork.

I have to make money.

If I make money this time,

I won't be afraid of being cheated.

Go back to your rental house.

Mom, I moving back

won't affect your work and money.

I said no.

Your dad didn't come home often before.

I'm used to being alone.

Life hasn't changed.

Life is still going on.

Silly boy.

Don't cry.

In my opinion,

she's afraid that she'll become dependent on you.

What do you mean?

Your mother seems to have a strong personality.

She's afraid that after her husband passed away,

she would rely on her son emotionally.

She's afraid she'll be more dependent on you.

Really?

Yes. Trust me.

Your mom is so strong.

[The sun of everyday is new.] [Mother of a handsome guy & Beauty]

A new day has come.

[A new day has come.] [Li Dawei]

It's three o'clock.

This night...

Dawei,

give me the bread.

I have an upset stomach.

There's half of the midnight snack here.

Let me heat it up for you.

I'm not that particular.

I'll just grab a bite to eat.

Chen.

Chen, someone called the police.

About rape.

Dawei.

Where?

She said it's at the T-junction of Shunhe Street.

Let's go.

We need a female police officer.

I'll call Xia Jie.

Tell her to wait in the station.

Let's go first.

Okay.

Officer. Officer.

Officer!

What are you doing?

# - Hello, officer. - Tell me what happened.

- I'll call the police. - Don't be nervous.

Did you call the police just now?

Yes, it was me.

Officer, I was raped.

Don't be afraid.

Speak slowly.

What's your name?

Li.

Tell us your full name.

My name is Liu Xiaoli.

You're safe now.

Speak slowly. What happened?

I...

I was drinking alone at the bar tonight.

I was a little drunk.

I met a man.

He said he would drive me home.

Then he took me to his home

and raped me.

Do you know this person before?

No.

No?

Then why did you get in his car?

I...

We had a good chat at first.

Then I got in his car because I was happy.

But...

He...

He wanted to make love with me.

I didn't agree.

Besides...

Besides, he's a pervert.

Officer, trust me.

He's really scary.

I almost couldn't get out.

Did you

take his money?

He...

He did give me 200 yuan.

But ... but I swear that

I didn't ask for it.

He forced me to take it.

Sir, trust me.

He's really scary.

I almost couldn't get out.

It's true.

Master.

This is just a deal.

On the way here,

there's no surveillance camera.

This area is always said to be demolished.

Maybe there are not enough cameras.

Then we need to report it.

This place is a completely blind spot.

We're here.

Over there.

Don't be afraid.

We're here.

You're the client.

You need to testify.

Let's go.

Police! Open up!

Something's up.

Coming.

Hello.

We're police officers from Balihe Police Station.

Sir, what's up?

Is it him?

It's him.

Sir,

do you know this lady?

Yes.

She just left here.

May I know your name?

My surname is Yue, Yue Wei.

Please show me your ID card.

Am I involved in anything?

This lady reported you for rape.

We need to investigate.

Please cooperate.

Rape?

What do you mean?

I took her to my house and...

Yes.

We just slept together,

but it's consensual.

She even took 200 yuan from me.

Wait.

Wait, Li.

Even if you want more,

you can't slander me like that.

You mean that

it can't be considered as rape since she took your money?

If so,

it's prostitution at most, right?

If it's prostitution,

you also violated the Public Security Administration Punishments Law

of the People's Republic of China.

We need to investigate.

Please show me your ID card.

Dawei,

take her back to the car first.

Lock the car door.

Okay.

Officer.

Officer,

it's really consensual.

We met at the bar tonight.

As we chatted,

we both had that thought.

Think about it.

If a woman

doesn't want to do anything,

why would she

come to a man's home

at midnight?

After that,

I let her sleep here.

She didn't agree.

Then,

I wanted to give her a ride,

but she also refused.

I felt a little sorry,

so I gave her 200 yuan

to take a taxi.

But unexpectedly,

this woman

turned her back on me so quickly.

Since she has reported you for rape,

we will investigate you.

Please come with us to the police station.

Okay, I'll go.

I'm not afraid of anything.

Tell me, I was...

By the roadside...

I slept a woman on the street.

I'm not self-disciplined indeed,

but she reported me for rape?

It's true.

- I'm not convinced no matter where I go. - All right, bring your belongings.

We'll wait for you outside.

Okay, wait for me.

When you left the bar,

you told him

to go to his place

or let him send you home?

He said he would send me home.

I was drunk.

And we had a good chat tonight.

Look at him.

He looks so honest.

Besides, it only takes ten minutes

from the bar to my home.

I remember when I wanted to go home,

it was half past ten.

It's not very late.

If it's too late,

I wouldn't dare to get in his car.

I've been working outside for so many years.

Although I have no wife,

I've met a lot of women.

I can tell what kind of a woman she is

at the first sight.

At the bar,

she took the initiative to approach me

and flirted with me.

I...

I thought she had feelings for me.

Officer,

I'm just an ordinary person.

Who can stand her initiative?

So I...

I took her home.

But I was in a daze as soon as I got in the car.

When I opened my eyes again,

I was already at his house.

My clothes had almost

been taken off by him.

I was startled and woke up from the alcohol.

I begged him desperately

and tried to escape.

But I couldn't.

He threatened me

if I dared to run away,

he...

he would kill me.

He also said

no one succeeded in running away before.

I wanted to shout,

but he took a knife

on my throat.

I had no choice.

I had to obey.

Then...

And then?

Officer,

he's really a pervert.

I really can't say it out.

You definitely don't know much about

such kind of woman,

but I know a lot.

But this girl has gone too far.

If she thought 200 yuan wasn't enough,

she could tell me.

I could add some for her.

After all, I brought her home, right?

But how could she frame me like this?

Stop.

Master.

How about the situation over there?

He insists that it's consensual.

I don't think there's any flaw.

How about yours?

I've asked Xia Jie to check her body.

Officer Chen, I've checked.

She's not injured.

Master, I think

this is prostitution.

Then the girl regretted.

She thought 200 was not enough

for she going out.

So she said it was rape.

Look at her.

She isn't like a decent girl.

According to the rules,

the rape case should be handed over to the criminal police group.

I'll call Captain Luo later.

It's better to let them deal with this case

after the daybreak.

- Chen, then I'm leaving. - Okay.

Okay, okay. Thank you very much.

Okay.

Call me if there's anything.

Okay.

Let's go.

Master,

then it has nothing to do with us?

But I bet

we will see them soon.

This is a prostitution case.

What are you doing?

I'm posting photos on my Moments to make my mom rest assured.

Jiajia, dad is back.

You must be hungry.

I bought you delicious food.

Jiajia?

What is she drawing?

Why does she indulge herself in it?

Okay.

Jiajia.

Okay, let me see

what you are drawing.

Jiajia?

Jiajia.

Jiajia.

Jiajia.

Baby?

Jiajia, what's wrong?

Are you feeling unwell?

You must be hungry, right?

How about this?

Let's sleep after having the meal.

No.

You have to eat.

Look, I've bought the food.

How about this?

I'll cut the yesterday's cooked food.

Let's eat together.

Okay, I'll make it right away.

All right. Lie down for a while.

I'll call you later.

Come on.

Eat up.

Come on.

Have a drumstick.

Eat up.

Dad.

Why do people live?

Why?

What?

Why do you suddenly ask that?

I think it's boring.

Why?

Well,

you're drawing happily...

It's just boring.

Are you tired of drawing?

You can't keep drawing all the time.

You can go out

with your friends

It's also boring.

Jiajia,

do you still

wan to learn drawing from artists?

It's okay. Go ahead.

Ask them how much they charge.

I may have

enough money.

I don't want it.

Jiajia.

What are you thinking?

Can you tell me?

I'm so worried.

You can't let me guess like this.

Seeing you like this,

I feel so sorry for you.

I'm sorry, dad.

But I want to know why.

I just feel bored.

I can't get myself together.

Depression in puberty.

It must be this.

You should encourage her to make more friends.

I've said that.

I told her to go out

to stay with her friends.

But she didn't go.

As an old man,

I raise an adolescent daughter alone.

It's too difficult.

Master.

Liu Xiaoli?

Why are you here?

What did Mr. Luo say?

Mr. Chen.

I was raped.

Why did they call me a prostitute?

Alright, stop crying.

When the time comes,

I'll call the the criminal police group

to get the details.

Mr. Chen,

I'm not lying.

I was really raped.

I was raped,

but I was accused of prostitution.

I was wronged.

Okay, go home first.

I'll come to you

after I know the situation.

But, Xiaoli,

find a proper job

and make money to support yourself.

Stop making bad friends

in such an entertainment place.

It's a lesson this time, right?

I'll keep it in mind, Mr. Chen.

Mr. Chen, you must help me.

Everyone in my family knows that.

My stepmother doesn't even let me in.

How can this be?

If she doesn't let you go home,

call me.

I'll talk to her.

Okay.

Alright, stop crying.

Go back.

Master.

The criminal police group has said it was prostitution.

Can we trust her?

Go to the criminal police group.

Look.

This is the scene at that bar.

Which table?

Here.

Look, she and Yue Wei

got close to each other.

They seemed intimate.

This is the entrance of the bar.

Look.

They walked out together.

She said she was drunk.

But she walked steadily.

Normally,

at this hour,

a girl shouldn't

get in a car of a strange man, right?

But look,

she got in the car herself.

There was no surveillance camera in front of Yue Wei's house.

But we pulled up

the video at the intersection near his house.

This is Yue Wei's car.

Stop. Zoom in.

Yue Wei was driving the car.

She was sitting in the passenger seat

and leaning her head on Yue Wei's shoulder.

Is it possible that

she was really drunk?

Maybe.

But based on this alone,

we can't prove that

Yue Wei has forced her.

She said Yue Wei raped her.

But she didn't get hurt.

And she took 200 yuan from him.

Tell me how to deal with it.

We also investigated this girl.

She hasn't been to school

since she graduated from junior high.

She never has a proper job

and has been wandering around in society.

In the past,

she made friends with several men

and had records of asking money from other men.

Captain Luo, I remember that

in our station, Liu Xiaoli

called Yue Wei a pervert.

How?

Did she tell you?

Yes.

Don't mention it.

For this,

I specially asked several policewomen

to interrogate her several times.

Her answers were different every time.

There are many versions.

Have a look.

I guess almost certainly she made them up.

There's no evidence for the rape.

But we have evidence

for the prostitution and whoring.

Chen, we have no choice.

We can only deal with it as prostitution and whoring.

Captain Luo.

Did you investigate

the past life of Yue Wei?

And he told Liu Xiaoli

anyone who had entered his rental house

never succeeded in running away.

What did he mean?

We've investigated.

Yue Wei

has been living as an unofficial driver.

He is a single man.

Sometimes,

he'll bring a woman home to spend one night.

As for what he said

that "no girl has ever escaped from his house",

I'm sure

he was bragging.

Captain Luo, thank you.

Can you

give me one piece

of the confessions?

No.

We just closed the case

which hasn't been brought to justice yet.

Well, Chen?

You still don't believe this?

Of course I trust you, Captain Luo.

I...

I just feel sorry for this kid.

How about this?

Can we watch the confessions here?

Okay, go ahead.

Thank you.

Come, Dawei. Come on.

Let's have a look together.

You're smart.

Remember everything you read.

Master, it's true that...

Hurry up.

Master, you really don't believe it's prostitution?

No.

Look at her appearance.

Dawei,

we police are not fortune tellers.

Never look at people with prejudice, okay?

You believe Liu Xiaoli is a prostitute

because of her dress and

her behavior.

But a girl who doesn't love herself may not be a prostitute.

There's no definite connection between them, you know?

Let's talk to her again.

Dawei,

we must keep it a secret.

The rape case belongs to the criminal police group.

They've already made a decision.

Let's not

take it as a case.

Take it as a personal hobby.

Are you interested?

Yes. Very much.

I need to learn from you

how to be a policeman.

Okay, call Liu Xiaoli

and ask her to come.

Okay.

Be careful. It's hot.

Thank you.

Xiaoli,

I've seen your confession in the criminal police group.

Why did you say differently every time?

Come, tell me.

Why did you lie to the police?

Mr. Chen,

they kept asking me

the same question again and again.

It's obvious that they didn't trust me.

I just want to make it more serious

to attract their attention.

But I didn't expect

the more I said, the more I couldn't hold it.

I remember you said Yue Wei

was an extreme pervert.

From what you described,

he is really a pervert.

But

we didn't find any injury

on your body.

Mr. Chen, not long after I entered,

I found he was a pervert.

I had a boyfriend before

who was a pervert just like him.

I know

if I met people like them,

I couldn't run away even if I wanted to.

Only by doing as he wished,

I could find a chance to run away.

So I tried my best to coax him

and cooperate with him.

And I didn't struggle much.

That's why I didn't get hurt.

But he's really a pervert.

He tortured me

for three or four hours.

He also told me

no girl who came to his house

could run away.

I was really scared.

Since he said that,

logically,

he couldn't have let you go.

But why did he let you go?

He didn't let me go.

After doing that,

he asked me to take a shower.

I thought

it's almost time.

So I dawdled on purpose and didn't take a shower.

Then time was up.

Time was up?

I often hang out alone.

I was afraid of meeting bad guys,

so I set

a timed auto-dial function

on the other phone in my home,

which would dial to my phone.

As long as I don't go home at 2:30 a.m.,

I'll get a call.

I dawdled until 2:30.

I lied to him.

I said I had arranged with my friend.

I asked her to call me

if I didn't get home at this time.

If I didn't answer it,

she would call the police immediately.

So he let me answer it.

I said as I picked up the phone.

I said

I was at the house

of the man I met at the bar.

I would be back soon.

Then he believed me.

He hesitated for a while and let me go.

Before I left,

he gave me 200 yuan.

I was afraid if I didn't take it,

he wouldn't let me go.

So I took it.

Xiaoli,

are you telling the truth?

You can't lie to me.

Mr. Chen,

if I lie,

I'll be struck by lightning.

Fine, you don't have to swear.

But the existing evidence is not good for you.

With such evidence,

it's hard to prove that you're raped.

But don't worry.

You must trust the law.

Trust the police.

We won't give up on the investigation.

We have a rough idea of the situation.

You go back first.

Okay, I'll wait for you.

Take a look.

If there's no problem,

sign here.

Remember.

Don't tell anyone

about your coming here today,

especially him.

From now on,

stay away from him.

Thank you, Mr. Chen.

Xiaoli,

do you know

you don't love yourself at all?

What do you mean?

Look, you are so young.

You don't study or work.

Look at

what you are now.

Your mother has been gone.

Your father doesn't care about you.

If you don't love yourself,

no one in this world will love you.

Sometimes,

the evil in this world

is far beyond your imagination

and your self-protection ability.

After you go back,

find a job and work hard,

so that your mother in heaven

can rest assured.

Mr. Chen,

since my mother passed away,

no one else said that to me

for a long time.

Thank you.

OK.

Remember what I said.

I didn't expect this girl to be so smart.

Maybe she really saved herself.

Master, if what she said is true,

we might run into a perverted murderer.

We need evidence.

Master,

I have to ask you about this.

We heard what she said together.

Why did you choose to believe her?

What she and Yue Wei said are both reasonable.

But I don't understand a few things.

Look at Yue Wei, an unofficial driver.

How much can he earn?

He goes to bars often.

And he lives in our jurisdiction.

The motorcycle bar he went to

is in another side of the city.

Is it coming to that?

He went through the whole city to kill time in a bar?

Besides,

Liu Xiaoli went to Yue Wei's house at 10:30 p.m.,

right?

But she came out at 3 a.m.

If it's prostitution,

which is illegal after all,

both of them would feel guilty.

She should have left quickly after finishing that and taking the money.

If they liked each other,

she should have stayed there.

Why did she leave at 3 a.m.?

Besides,

if it's really prostitution,

just think that

a young girl only costs 200 yuan.

Isn't it

too cheap?

Master,

the first day I reported for work,

I saw you keeping drinking

the wolfberry water in this glass.

I thought what kind of policeman he was.

I didn't expect you to be so good.

Keep flattering me.

Do you think I don't know what you're thinking?

Did you look down on me then?

Did you wonder why you followed such an old man?

No, no.

Dawei,

there are two possibilities in this case.

One.

Liu Xiaoli is a liar.

She even cheated such an old cop like me.

There's another possibility.

We've met

a criminal that is extremely difficult to deal with.
