[Grant] During the mandatory
Pit Stop rest period,

teams were transported
from Beijing by plane

to the city of Guilin in southern China.

This spectacular landscape

is considered by many
to be the most beautiful in China.

Guilin is now the starting point
of the final leg

of our race around the world.

Michelle and Jo were the first
to check in.

Michelle and Jo, you're team number one.

[scream]

So they'll depart first at 5:07 a.m.

"Welcome to Guilin, China.

Travel by taxi to the Lijiang River

to find your next clue
among the traditional fishermen."

[Grant] Cormorants have been used for
fishing in Guilin for thousands of years.

Teams will need to search

among these dozens
of traditional fishermen

and ask in Mandarin for their next clue.

You have $250 for this leg of the race.

[Jo] Can you please take us
to Lijiang River, Yangshuo District?

Okay.

[Michelle] It's a good start
to start in first place.

This is the last leg.

You've only got one chance of this
and a one-in-three chance of $250,000.

It's pretty good odds, so…

It's meant everything
to run with Michelle.

I've learned many different things
along the way,

and we've had fun together
and it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity

that we've got to share,
and we'll have that forever now.

closer together as sisters,

and I have learned I need to step back
and listen to her opinion sometimes.

and I can't wait for the end,

when we are crossing
the finish line first.

We'll get to brag to the other teams

that they just got their butts kicked
by an accountant and a goofball.

[Steve] At least it'll be before the cops.

The twins have proved consistently

that they're good
at getting between destinations,

securing good flights and such.

So that is why we've always felt
they are our greatest threats,

that we always have to overtake them
at challenges.

[Steve] Time ticked over, 8:30.
We've got to put these on.

We had to get dressed up
in this haystack cape.

[Jo] Oh, gosh. I definitely think
it's becoming more personal now.

Paul is just so serious.
Just crack a smile, mate.

I can't let them beat us.

[Paul] Yeah, I'm worried
I'm gonna slip in, though.

We have to ask each fisherman
if he has something to give us.

[Steve] We're neck and neck
with the twins.

so they went left and we went right.

[Jo] Great job, Chelle.

Get a little closer.

Now there's fishermen everywhere,

and we had to ask if they had
something to give us in Mandarin.

In this final Detour,
teams will go back to school Chinese-style

as they choose between Teach and Learn.

In Teach,

teams must choose a local student
and tutor them on ten Aussie words.

Once their student
can repeat the ten phrases,

they'll receive their next clue.

In Learn,

teams must learn
the same ten phrases in Mandarin

from one of the students.

They'll then need to correctly recite
the phrases back to the teacher.

Okay, so Learn.

Taxi!

We need to go to a kindergarten school.

We had a map,
so we knew where the school was.

It was far away, but it's all
a directions game with the taxis again.

So hopefully we can have
some luck on our side.

"Travel by taxi to the Lijiang River."

We need someone
that can speak English, though.

We've been underestimated
the whole race, and that's fine.

-We like it that way.
-We're happy to play it that way.

-This is countryside.
-In countryside? Okay.

We've both been caught
in the rat race, having kids,

and jobs, and mortgages,
and all that sort of stuff.

[Andrew] We owe it to our families
at least to have a shot at the big one.

They've done it hard probably without us.
They deserve it as much as we do.

I was trying to find someone
that could speak English,

and luckily the lovely police officer
could speak a little bit of English.

[Paul] They're always moving around,

so even though you may have checked,
say, 25 of them out of 50,

you don't know whether you're checking
new ones or the same ones you've asked.

We eventually found the right guy.

We were very happy.

Detour. "Teach or Learn"?

[Paul] My instinct is Teach
because it sounds the easier to me, but…

We had to get to our next location,
which was a kindergarten.

[Paul] The first thing we felt we needed
to do is find a local

that would actually have an idea
of the direction.

Down that way?

-[man speaking]
-How far?

I did try to gauge whether
we should be walking or driving.

Walk?

[Steve] So straight down there.

It became pretty evident that there was
no cabs or any form of transportation

going to be along that road,

so we figured that surely
it's not gonna be a real long distance.

[Steve] Do you reckon that's what we do?

[Paul] That's what she was saying,
wasn't she?

[Steve] Yeah.

[speaking Mandarin]

[Shane] We had to head down to the river.

When we get there,
hours of operation were 8:30 till 1700.

They would've been sitting here
for three hours.

Yeah, and no sleep.

We were probably only an hour,
hour and a half behind at this stage.

-Back in it, mate.
-Yep.

[Andrew] Paul and Steve and the twins
have had a bit of a rivalry.

They've been butting heads,
and we've been in the background,

which has been good for us.

[Shane] A bit of contact with him.

He'd say… and then pull out a little fish.

The first person we saw said,
"Yep. Continue this way.

You're going the right way."

-[Paul] They said down this way?
-Yep.

We had to go with our feeling
that they keep pointing this way,

so surely it's just up the road.

Surely we can catch the twins
with our jogs every now and then.

I just hope we haven't overshot it.

Maybe. What's he got for us?

We have the taxi driver
who knows the district we need to go to

in this area.

It's really frustrating.

and the longer and longer we kept walking,

you're going, "It doesn't feel right."

We could be the ones likely in the most
danger if everyone else is in a taxi.

to make a catastrophic mistake,

and we just did.

He was guiding us on our spiritual journey

is typical of rural China,

and teams will need all their powers
of persuasion

to sell their wares
to the passing villagers.

Teams must choose a market stall
and spruik these common kitchen gadgets.

Once they've sold ten items,

they can exchange their profits
for their next clue.

We haven't seen any of the other teams,
so we think we're in front.

We are promo queens.

We sell pieces of paper to people,
pretty much.

We can do this for sure.

-[Paul] Do you wanna ask?

We've been walking for about two hours
when we found a hotel.

It was an absolute massive relief
to be able to call

a rubber-tire savior
to get us out of there.

We may not be in a bad situation.

We don't know what the situation is
or how well we're doing,

but at least we're feeling that
we're doing the best we can right now.

We thought we would be

Steve and I maintained an attitude
that we really want to finish strong.

and good on them for it.

We'd still like
to finish our own race though.

At the beginning, all I was trying to do
is prove I can run with a backpack.

Definitely very proud of Michelle,

and the places we got to travel to--

closer together,

and we know that we're invincible,
we can do anything now.

[Shane] Main objective was to have fun,
go as far as we could along the race

and do as many challenges
and see as many countries as we could.
