Hello and welcome to the live wedding.

As you have just seen anyone can take

pictures in good weather.

That's why we're back at a rainy wedding

and rainy wedding means it has rained the

entire day non-stop and if you have

ever wondered how we work at a rainy

wedding or if we can even do that

and if we even have rainy weddings then

you'll see that today.

Yeah there are plenty of tips and tricks

we'll just stop in between to explain.

in front of this wooden wall that would

fit in well with the rest.

the open air wedding.

Let's take a look at the tent.

We could definitely do something in front of

this tipi.

Yes we could put another rug down here

and make this push and pull thing you

So as you have just seen we've visited

the location again before the wedding and that

was about 10 minutes away from the getting

ready place.

The couple did not get ready at the

location.

That didn't work because it was a farm

that was being renovated and there was no

suitable place to prepare calmly.

Yeah but we went there anyway first because

we hadn't been there yet.

We always check the locations on google maps

first but of course we are also happy

if we can go there ourselves.

It's just important for us firstly so we

could pick out the spots for the couple

shoot and we always want to be prepared.

Yeah and secondly because of the weather it

was just important to look at it again

because it was originally planned as a summer

hippie wedding.

Yes and the day before the sun was

shining and we thought oh no and tomorrow

there was rain and we were like oh

my gosh.

Of course it was also about making a

really good plan b.

We wanted to think about what we can

do to get the best out of it.

You may also have seen that we looked

again at where the wedding would have been

outdoors.

You saw that the backdrop was already there

and because it just kept raining we looked

around together with a wedding planner.

We were discussing about how to arrange things

so that it also looks good from the

photographic point of view.

Yeah so in which direction the ceremony setting

should be, how to set up the light

chains and how many of them we need

to get enough light.

For us it was clear that the grey

wall with the stones was the best background

for the indoor ceremony.

Yeah the cool thing is that when you

work with professionals who have the same taste

as you do they will gladly accept your

tips and give everything to make it happen.

Yeah that's because they are also happy about

great pictures so we just looked inside the

tipi.

We already knew that when it rains the

guests would probably head straight from the wedding

to the tipi.

So yeah i already knew that i have

to photograph the setting as soon as i'm

back from the groom's preparation.

Right.

Guys you have to turn a bit so

that Flo also gets a bit of the

window light.

As you have seen we always start the

getting ready with the detail photos.

Unless there's already a great atmosphere then we

shoot that too.

But this time it was all a bit

chilly.

Yeah and he was alone with his best

man and it was a very quiet mood.

So that's why i started calmly with a

few detail photos.

I think he took a shower first or

something and then he got actually dressed relatively

quickly.

Since the room was very small there was

really only this one light source.

It was clear that i would tell him

to get ready in front of the window.

Besides the first thing we always do is

turn off the lights.

And we generally work only with the window

line.

Of course the getting ready was very different

from what we saw before at the pixie

set gallery because it was less busy.

We always really like it when there are

many friends and families around.

Yeah but in this case it just fits

perfectly with the couple's personalities.

And yeah it always has to fit in

with the bride and groom.

And i think for example the getting ready

was just right for Lucy and Flo.

So yeah the getting ready is always different

at every wedding.

And sometimes you have 10 groomsmen around and

sometimes you're all alone with the groom.

So this of course gives you completely different

challenges.

For example if you're alone with the groom

then the challenge is who is going to

pin the flower.

Yeah and you then put the blanket in

front of the window to brighten up the

room a little bit.

Yeah the blanket made the facial light a

bit stark and so i moved Flo a

bit further away which made the room brighter

but he wasn't too starkly lit from below.

Yeah that was perfect.

So yeah yeah.

The blanket hides the radiator quite well.

So that was the girls getting ready and

you saw that I got into the room

and the girls were still in the middle

of styling.

That took about 20 minutes and which not

much happened.

In the meantime I did the detail photos.

It was very dark when I went into

the room and I think the room was

even smaller than a classroom.

Could be.

And there were no nice walls and the

artificial light was very bad.

But if I had turned it off it

would have been pitch dark.

I actually saw no way to photograph the

getting ready in that room.

Especially because of the other people it would

have been too tight.

But the hotel already had a really cool

style with the brick walls everywhere.

So I asked if maybe there is another

room in which the bride could get ready.

And the bride said there was this conference

room.

So I asked for the key at the

hotel reception.

And that was definitely the salvation for the

getting ready.

We used that room to finish off.

We had already checked out the hotel online

and knew beforehand that it would be difficult

to take nice pictures in these rooms.

Yeah that's why we took the carpets from

the ceremony location in order to rearrange the

rooms.

And the carpets were the perfect thing to

make the getting ready fit in with the

styling of the rest of the wedding.

And yes Ruth then redecorated the whole room.

She took down that red and white curtains

from the window.

Yes this getting ready was definitely one of

our most challenging getting readies in 2017.

And we are proud that it turned out

really good.

As you can imagine you don't always have

the best conditions for the getting ready.

Still you can often find ways or find

nice little corners where you can take pictures.

I also took a lot of pictures with

the 85 millimeter lens.

If the space isn't forthcoming then I like

to work a lot with close-ups.

The fact that we turned off all the

artificial lights in this conference room made the

light in the room very clean.

The bright stood in the light from the

window and so the rest of the room

became pretty dark.

You can use this to make a room

look nicer.

In the end we were under some time

pressure as always with the girls.

But there was still time for some bridal

portraits.

But it was totally cool and I really

love the results and of course the pictures

of the bride and her amazing dress.

Yeah.

And then we went straight to the wedding

ceremony.

Yes let's see.

The most beautiful lighting cameras photo ever.

And as the girls usually take a little

longer the crew is usually first at the

wedding location and yeah that's why I am

also the first to get to the wedding

location.

And that gives me time to photograph all

the decor and the setting.

I only saw the setting when I arrived

shortly before the wedding and all the rest

of the setting and decoration and I never

thought that would be so nice.

Earlier you saw the empty barn and I

personally didn't think anything beautiful come out of

the barn.

Yeah.

But I trusted the wedding planner Fabienne and

she and her friend Dennis definitely did a

really good job.

Yeah here's another shout out to Klixkonzepter.

Yeah probably this indoor setting is even better

than the outdoor setting could have been.

Yeah and because yeah we really loved it.

It's so interesting.

I really love it.

Anyway Ben and Chris always get out and

photograph the whole setting.

Yeah it is always important to remember though

that you're not just shooting the pictures for

yourself or for the couple but for everyone

involved.

They all put so much work into it

and it's our job to photograph that well.

And what else was important in this case?

Maybe you heard the rain on the tent.

That's why we thought that the guests were

likely to get into the tent right after

the wedding ceremony.

So it was clear to us that we

had to take pictures of the decor in

the tent before the ceremony.

That means that Chris had to quickly shoot

the decor in the tent and when the

guests arrived he went right back to the

reception.

Yeah if you photograph the decor then you

might as well ask the wedding planner if

they can light the candles at the table

so you can photograph the table setting with

burning candles.

I think it worked well.

It worked great in this case.

Yeah a fantastic setting and a cool concept.

As you could see, we've summarized the most

important points of the ceremony for you.

I think you could see quite well how

we work.

The nice thing is that we are working

in twos.

You could see pretty well during the entrance

of the bride.

We were able to capture the emotion of

the groom as well as the bride.

One of us was able to concentrate on

the groom from behind and of course I

can catch the bride from the front.

These different perspectives are what makes the report

lively.

Usually Ruth is up front and I'm behind.

Of course, we didn't want our videographer to

run back and forth all the time because

the wedding is the most important thing.

That's why I am more in the foreground

in this video and Chris made all the

pictures from behind apart from one situation in

which I also went to the aisle and

photographed from behind.

When you have a setting like this, you

can also shoot the exchange of the rings

and the kiss from behind perfectly.

Usually I always like to photograph the bride

and groom so that you can still see

the guests in the background from the other

side.

That's always my perspective and Chris takes pictures

from behind in this.

Yeah, but in this case, this wasn't possible

and so you had to take some photos

from the aisle and from the side as

well.

Yeah, but it all worked very well and

you also saw in Chris' photos that I

never actually stood exactly in the middle and

blocked the view.

You may also have noticed that during the

ceremony we set the ISO very high to

catch everything well.

We absolutely didn't want to use the flash.

This bothers everyone and we never do that

at the ceremony.

Generally, we always use a wave-level light

as long as it's possible.

Yeah, that helps us capture the mood very

nicely and the entrance and exit you could

shoot on ISO.

Personally, I don't use ISO because there's always

the danger that if something is thrown the

focus is wrong.

So I prefer to refocus every time but

of course it always depends on the speed

of the bride and the groom.

Anyway, the light situation made it very difficult

at the wedding ceremony, especially the colors.

Yeah, I think you can see that later

how we solved that in the live editing

part.

But for now, we go on with the

wedding.

So right after the ceremony, we directly went

into the tent as expected.

The congratulations happened in the tent as well.

At the beginning, the light chains were not

working yet.

That's why we couldn't photograph the congratulations with

the wave-level light.

And yeah, also because we didn't want the

hard time editing.

Yeah, the tent reflected very yellow, which made

it very difficult from the point of view

of the lighting.

Actually, this wedding was one of the hardest

for us in terms of lighting, which made

it a big challenge in editing.

During the congratulations, we mostly position ourselves directly

behind the couple.

Of course, the bridal couple is always the

focus of attention the whole day.

But during the congratulations, you have the opportunity

to take a great picture of all the

guests.

Yeah, you can capture the emotions of the

guests very well during the congratulations and you

have the possibility of shooting all the guests

together with the couple.

Of course, we generally try to capture all

the guests during the day in different natural

situations.

Yeah, but in the congratulations, you can capture

some very nice moments.

Yeah, that gives us the confidence that we

have captured every guest at least once.

Yeah.

Yeah, that's also one of our jobs to

make sure that everyone who is present at

the wedding is in the pictures.

The only way to make the crew pictures

was back up in the barn because the

TV was completely full of guests since it

was raining outside.

The only nice covered place where we could

do the crew pictures was the ceremony location.

I think that's a great place for crew

photos.

You rarely get such a nice opportunity for

crew shots indoors.

It also looked really nice with the fairy

lights in the background.

Yeah, I really like it.

Yeah.

And we decided to use flash so that

everything would run smoothly in editing.

We'll cover everything to do with using flash

later.

Yeah.

When it comes to the crew photos, it's

always important to us that it's not annoying

for anyone.

It should be pretty fast and we try

to have as much fun as possible.

Yeah, we always have a list so that

everything runs smoothly.

Before the wedding, the bridal couple needs to

consider which groups they would like to have

photographed.

Therefore, we send them an online form where

they fill in the group constellations.

And then we keep this list handy and

usually give it to a crewman.

These then help us to gather the people

together, which allows us to get through the

crew photos relatively quickly.

Yeah.

We always have a lot of fun with

the crew photos and try to catch all

the funny moments too.

And also in the crew photos you have

the opportunity to photograph all the important people,

such as families.

Yeah, the friends.

Even if another group is being photographed, all

the important people are in one spot.

And while one is photographing the crew, the

other one can photograph the smaller groups while

they are chatting.

Yeah.

Had the wedding taken place hours, we would

have chosen two to three different backgrounds for

the crew photos to get some variation.

And in this case, we limited ourselves to

the one background and tried to get through

the crew photos quite quickly.
