A quiet road leading to the old house
A home waiting to be restored
This is our 100-year-old house
A place full of history and memories
Today, we begin the first steps of restoration
Come inside and see how it looks
The walls, the wood, everything tells a story
It needs a lot of work, but we see the potential
This home has stood for a centuryโnow itโs our turn to restore it
This home has history, and so does this book
Traditional haystacks, standing tall
A familiar sight in the countryside
The sound of running water
A quick repair to protect the house until we rebuild the roof in summer
The real work starts in a few months :)
Horses pulling the cart, just like in the old days
A curious visitor comes to check on us
Each strike of the hammer fills the valley
We bring the house back to life
Letโs take a look inside the summer kitchen
The window is brokenโit needs a quick fix
For now, Iโll cover it with a piece of plywood
One small repair at a time
Working together to fix the roof
I reach into the box and grab a handful of nails
Small things, big repairs
Time to climb up and help from the attic
Letโs see how things look from up there
All the wooden beams are blackened by smoke
In the past, people had no chimneyโsmoke filled the attic
Over time, the wood absorbed the smoke and darkened
This natural smoking protected the wood from rotting
Even after so many years, the beams remain strong
A forgotten method, but one that preserved the house
The horses stand still
The barn is in terrible condition
Both the barn and the stable need a lot of work
Heading to the store to buy pipes for marking the land
We need metal pipes to set the boundary markers
The landscape passes by, silent and vast
Fields on both sides, untouched and open
A quick stop for supplies before we continue working
Marking the property starts with the right materials
Now, we are hammering the pipes into the ground
We hired a land survey company to measure the property
The surveyors check the exact boundaries
Using GPS, they mark the precise locations
In a village, everyone knows when something is happening
The neighbors have come to see what weโre doing
These willows have been here for decades
The beauty of Bucovina, quiet and timeless
Frozen fields stretch under the pale sky
The pipes we bought were too short and too thin
So we went back to the store and got 1.5-meter-long pipes
Goats wander nearby, curious about our work
Empty soda cans lay scattered on the ice
we spray them with yellow paint
A bright color to make them visible
Now, we are hammering the longer pipes over the ones from yesterday
This will make sure they stay in place
Wow, what a big dog
Step by step, the official boundaries take shape
A rhythmic clang, repeating with each strike
Each marker is placed exactly where it should be
A majestic Mioritic Shepherd
Metal against metal
Walking through this place
Somewhere nearby, someone is working with wood
Nature has shaped this place perfectly.
One last walk on the hill before the sun sets
The last rays of sunlight touch the hills
This is just the beginningโweโll return soon
Weโll be back soon to continue the work
Until next time, Bucovina
