Hello, hello friends, how are you?
How's everything going?
How have you started the month?
As always, I wish you all the best
and, as I always say, I hope that
things will be solved little by little and,
of course, I want to give everyone my
infinite gratitude for being there because without you
this would be practically impossible.
Just a few months ago Erika already told
me, hey, why don't you create a video
in which you talk a little about how
you prepare both physically and psychologically for weddings?
And I get to tell her, do you
think that will be interesting?
Do you think people will be interested?
And she told me, fuck, why not, man?
I mean, everyone prepares as best they can
and surely someone is interested in knowing how
you prepare.
And I told her, but don't think that
I prepare in a super special way, if
I don't do four little things and such.
And she told me, well, share it.
In total, a topic remained there on standby,
but the other day, just a couple of
chapters ago, a good partner, a good Patreon,
Fran Ortiz, told me that.
In one of the comments he said, hey,
why don't you talk a little about that
topic?
How do you prepare physically and psychologically for
your weddings?
So I said, well, one of the following
videos has to be about this, okay?
So let's talk a little about how I
prepare physically and psychologically before a damn wedding.
But I think it's not about before a
damn wedding or before a wedding, but it's
about being prepared for a wedding season.
I mean, I'm not going to be surprised
when I say that, damn, photographing for a
wedding, depending on how it is photographed, is
not easy, it is not simple and it
is a physical job.
I don't know about you, I can imagine
it, but at least in our case, our
weddings that we do are quite, quite physical.
I mean, we don't stop moving, we don't
stop crouching, running around here, running around there
and that needs to have a training or
have a certain medium physical state, normal or
good, right?
Well, normal, because well, as you can see,
I don't have muscles or anything like that,
but for several years now, well, quite a
few years, I have been exercising almost daily.
I mean, it is true that I have
not been a sportsperson, I have not liked
football or basketball or any other type of
sport, but there has been something that I
have always loved and it is swimming.
And swimming is really good for arms, for
the back and for the legs and that
will make it easier for me to be
in shape or moderately in shape for a
wedding day.
Personally, I like to swim every day, every
day at six and a half, whether it
is summer or winter, I go to the
pool covered and I love to spend almost
an hour swimming, no less than 50 minutes
and I try to force myself to go
a little bit, exercising that, right?
When I can't swim, what do I do?
Well, I go out for a run and
I try to run for 45 minutes to
at least have legs, which are the limbs
that I work the most and sometimes they
carry.
Personally, swimming not only helps me a lot
to be in shape, but it helps me
think, it helps me relax enormously.
When I swim, I think about my things,
I think about photography, I think about the
things I have to do on the day
I am going to start.
I mean, there are so many things to
think about and it relaxes me so much
and at the same time I move, that
helps me physically.
Beyond all that, believe me that I am
not going to play a football game or
a basketball game, I mean, the only thing
I do is swim or when I can't
go swimming, for example, when I'm not in
my city, I'm going to run and take
care of that, of being more or less
physically in shape.
I'm also talking to you about the sport
I do during the week, but I don't
do this sport only when I have a
wedding season, but I always do it, both
in winter and in summer, regardless of whether
I have weddings or not, but it is
also super important during the day of the
wedding, in which there is a physical and
mental activity, but let's talk first about the
physical, for me it is super important to
think, sorry, that during the wedding I always
have to stay active, regardless of the weddings,
I mean, if a wedding is international, there
are usually speeches, with which I am going
to stay active simply because of inertia, because
it is not going to stop at all,
because people sit down to dinner and they
already start talking, with which I already have
to start photographing, lighting, thinking how to do
it well and all these things.
If it is a Spanish wedding, which is
a bit sometimes long and tedious because of
the fact that from the moment they sit
down until things start to happen, it's like
three hours, more or less, and all that
time it's a real drama, it's a nightmare,
being there for three hours sitting down, that's
why I try to do things, I mean,
I try to stay active and among other
things that I do is try to eat
fast, to try to eat something fast, to
go back to taking photos of whatever, of
people talking at the tables, of waiters distributing
dishes, of the food dishes workshop, desserts, whatever,
something, you have to do something, why?
Because if not, how do I feel?
I'm going to come down and in the
end getting up is going to be an
over-effort and then mentally it's going to
be, I'm not in the game anymore, do
you understand where I'm going or not?
And talking a little more about something so
important, or more important than what I have
told so far, is the food on the
day of the wedding.
We always carry two, three, four energy bars,
each one of us, both Erika and me,
well, in our backpacks, to replenish the body
with sugar, with calories.
What do I mean by this?
The mind always has to be with sugar
so that it has the ability to create,
to think, to have good, creative ideas.
I don't say this, this is what all
doctors say, right?
When the mind lacks water or sugar, the
mind no longer starts to work so well.
That's why those bars are going to help
us, for example, perfectly.
At the last wedding, for example, in Barcelona,
at the moment I got in the same
car with the grooms to go from the
church to the hacienda, I remember that I
took two bars with half a liter of
water, practically all at once.
Why?
Because in the next 15 minutes I had
to take pictures, I had to do that
portrait session, so I had to stay agile
mentally, and the sugar left me like pearls.
We always do that at all weddings.
And speaking of food, at the moment we
sit down to eat something at the same
banquet, although the grooms, as at the last
wedding or at many weddings, they serve us
the same food as them, as the guests.
I try to eat the first dish, but
the second, if it's meat, I'm not going
to eat it anymore.
Why?
Because I don't usually eat meat normally.
It doesn't mean that I'm a vegan, no,
no, no.
I mean, I eat meat calmly and I
like it, but it's not a dish, it's
not a type of food that I really
like, so I don't try to force myself
to do it.
Of course, if I'm not used to eating
meat, on the day of the wedding, of
course, I'm not going to eat it because
that's going to cause my stomach to overdo
it and, ultimately, it won't help me work
properly.
And when I eat meat, like when I
drink alcohol, which I'm not going to drink
either, I'm going to want to sit down,
to come down, so I'm not going to
do that, okay?
That's physically, okay?
If we talk about psychologically, the first thing
is to deceive myself that I'm going to
do it super well, that I'm going to
put all the eggs in the damn pan,
I'm going to give my best.
I mean, I convince myself that I'm going
to give it all, I'm not going to
come down, I'm never going to win, I
mean, I don't think about winning money or
prizes, no, no, but rather, I go out
to win, it's like a horse that is
going to compete and goes out to win,
there is no margin to say, well, let's
see what happens, well, let's see if I
have a good day, let's see if I'm
lucky, well, let's see what happens with the
couple, no, no, no, no, what the hell,
I mean, I'm going for them, the couple,
come on, come on, come on, come on,
I mean, I try during the whole week
to say, come on, come on, Saturday, Saturday,
Saturday, boom, boom, boom, no, it's like convincing
yourself that you're going to do it perfectly.
At weddings, what?
I've been a little bitative?
Error, no?
I mean, you have to be very clear
that you are going to win anyway, to
win, that fucking battle is for you, and
you are going to take it to the
sack, and you are going to take the
damn couple to your land, and you are
going to make that day that everything jumps
through the air, it is the only way
that in my head it works, no?
And something also very, very important, I am
not only worth being excited on the day
of the wedding, but the week, it is
as if we had here like an oven,
and you are putting coal in it, no?
You don't let that fire go out, you
go like the week to rum, rum, rum,
rum, rum, rum, rum, no, you're going to
be thinking all the time, not thinking, but
heating engines, right?
Saying, come on, this fucking wedding, the previous
one didn't go quite the way I wanted,
this damn wedding, come on, I have to
start at the sack, plus that farm, plus
the boyfriends, boom, boom, boom, I mean, it
is to go avenging yourself at all times
and be very clear that you want to
photograph, I mean, it is as important to
convince yourself that you are the best as
to convince yourself that knowing that you want
to photograph what type of photos you will
not miss, I mean, when I go to
a wedding without thinking what I want to
do, what I am going to photograph, who
is the couple, how is the couple, where
is he going to get married, does he
have a wedding planner, no, as a consequence,
what photos, because I want to do, plus
the mother is, they have already told me
that it is problematic, that it is going
to give me war, because how am I
going to manage that, I mean, I am
going to be prepared at all times for
the pros and cons, not to come up
when they applaud me, not to come down
when they hit me in the balls, that
is, I am going to be mine and
I am always going to see the couple
from the affection, but in a super aseptic
way that does not affect me, neither the
good nor the bad, I mean, I am
going to go spearheading forward at all times
with a knife, do you understand me or
not, to death, that is, that is how
I am going to prepare mentally at all
times and we are going, for example, before
he starts photographing in the car, we usually
put music at full volume, that is, we
try to put ourselves almost like the super
saiyajins, do you understand me or not, that
almost comes out fire and the hair turns
yellow, that is, so damn level and there
is, for example, a song and do not
laugh please and this is completely serious, which
is Conan the Barbarian's soundtrack and that I
always put it on, I always put it
on before starting a wedding, because that is
not that I have a childhood like Conan
the Barbarian and that I lost my parents
for a real crazy man, but the effort
that has led me to get here is
not comparable to that of Conan, but it
was complicated, that is, because my life, despite
the fact that I have had a perfect
childhood, getting to be a photographer has been
hard, it has not been easy, I have
had to sacrifice many things in my life
to get to where I am, with which
I compare myself in a certain way with
Conan the Barbarian and I put on his
damn soundtrack so that my hair gets swollen,
it starts to pull forward and it is
like a little donkey that no longer thinks
about pulling, pulling, pulling, pulling forward, you understand
where I am going, that is why that
is one of the ways with which I
try to prepare myself mentally and psychologically for
all this and above all, as I have
told you at a wedding, there will be
many moments in which the boyfriends and family
members, either out of nerves or because they
are some hoodlums or whatever, are going to
touch our balls, they are going to make
comments that are going to sink us and
there will be others that are not, because
it is neither for some nor for other
comments we have, it has to affect us,
you understand, that is, we have to see
everything in an aseptic way, we have to
think everything as if we were sometimes psychologists
and that it does not affect us, you
understand, that is, so that everything goes well
because as at a wedding we have a
bad one, I was going to say a
mother who touches our eggs, which usually happens,
or a girlfriend who makes us a couple
of miscarriages, that can mine us, but that
out, out and out, so I think that
it can work better and the work in
the end comes out, okay?
So this was today's video, I hope that
Fran and more liked it or found it
interesting, I think I see you all swimming
and I see you all listening to Conan
the Barbarian, so nothing else friends, take care,
be good and have a good week and
keep hiring weddings, bastards!
