this chapter I would like to dedicate it

to reviewing the images that you all sent

me for the challenge that I launched a

couple of weeks ago.

Remember that the challenge was to try to

make some of the images in the state

in which we are, that is, in confinement,

in which you try to get out of

your comfort zone, try to play with interesting

lights in which you could play with your

partner, with yourself, with your animals, your children

and ultimately it was to find neutral backgrounds

and if it could be with all kinds

of primary colors or all kinds of complementary

colors.

So first I want to thank all of

you who have been brave enough to send

me photos, there are super interesting photos and

those who do not, I understand that maybe

you have not had time but for the

next challenge I invite you to participate because

it is a really important game to see

how far our limitations go.

So what I'm going to do now is

just show you some of the images that

you have been sending me, what I'm going

to try to criticize and within all of

them we are going to try to find

the one that I like the most and

remember that the one that was the winner

or the one that was the winner is

going to take two hours of talk with

me in which we can talk about anything

you want from creativity to business or whatever

you want.

Ok, so I don't get distracted anymore and

we're going to get them.

First of all I would like to show

you the photos of our friend Jorge Sulbarán

and although I said that one could be

sent, but well, there have been several people

who have sent several, so well, I'm going

to have fun with them too and I'm

going to criticize them or I'm going to

analyze them a little bit, ok?

I would like to show you the photos

that Jorge sent me.

Sincerely, out of the four, I think the

one that could fit me the most could

be this one, but I would have to

analyze it a little more consciously, although it

is also quite good, but what I would

have done would be, well, move that mirror

to the other side and I would have

done quite well with what was, for example,

with what was the reflection and with what

were also, for example, the hands, I want

to think that they are his hands with

those of his partner.

The mistake that I see here is that

the hands touch, perhaps it would have worked

better in which the hands had not touched,

right?

It is just the moment before they touch,

right?

Do you remember the painting of the Sistine

Chapel?

Ok, that is, it would have been good

that they were almost about to touch, but

without reaching it and also, as you can

see, if they had not touched, the shadow

that is projected, because it would not have

touched and it would have been a little

more interesting.

I also see that the mirror, what I

would have done, correct the perspective a bit

in Photoshop or in post-production so that

the mirror, instead of having this effect, would

have been completely straight, okay?

If we already move on to the next

image, I like how Jorge has played with

his hands, how he holds, for me it

ends up convincing is that again he touches

his girl kissing, I think it would have

worked better if he had not touched her,

that he was about to kiss.

Remember that something fundamental is to play with

our spectator and at the moment that there

are two people kissing, the action has already

been finished, that is why it is good

that they are about to always touch, so

that there is a game with that spectator,

okay?

This photo, you see, it works but there

are already things that distract me a lot,

like that line that cuts Jorge right in

the back, it also gets a little in

the head and makes it not finish working,

also that line is not entirely straight and

notice that Jorge is also touching the mirror

with his left arm and it does not

finish working either, his girl's knee, sorry, is

also touching that imaginary line of the mirror,

with which it does not finish either.

You see that the idea is very good,

all the ideas that Jorge is having are

quite good, but he does not finish executing

them perfectly, it is only a matter of

time and it is a matter of looking

a little more and seeing what those little

mistakes have been, okay?

We are already going for the last one,

which I think I would have re-squared

a little more and above all that window

in which we can see that intrusive light

that is above the couple, possibly I would

have darkened it and also what I would

have done, I would have removed all the

lines, both vertical and horizontal, in the case

of the horizontal ones, they work very well

but it seems that the vertical ones are

wobbling a little so I would have corrected

them, right?

Congratulations to our friend Jorge because he has

worked hard enough.

We are going to go for another colleague,

A colleague that I know, Rafa Bichero, congratulations

Rafa for having sent us, I thank you

and the photos that Rafa has sent us

are this, this and this, okay?

Here we can see that we even have

a couple here, who has put on a

mask, but hey, I think the most interesting

photo could be this, it is the one

that plays, I suppose it will be his

daughter or his son, I think his daughter,

And I like how he played with the

light but it does not convince me, right?

Why?

Notice that the neutral background is perfect but

it has an illumination above what the girl

is, for example, with which I would recommend

to overexpose a little less, perhaps a step

of diaphragm or even two to get that

light to be below and already in post

-production, which would raise the girl a little,

okay?

I especially like the one that plays with,

well, with the girl, right?

That it looks like her right arm, you

see that it looks like it is running

and that it gives it a certain movement,

right?

Yes, I like the dark light game, right?

But as I tell you, for me it

is overexposed a step at least, okay?

We are going to the second and notice

how already not having a neutral background, that

rock background or that stone background no longer

ends up working.

Yes, it is true that I find that

triangle game interesting, but it is about time.

Like Jorge Sulbarán, they are very good ideas

but they are not fully executed to perfection.

And finally, we go for another photo.

The idea is good and the truth is

that I appreciate that you have, well, that

you have messed up or that you have

convinced a couple, but look at the place

where the neutral background was.

The neutral background is found in this box

that we have here and you have not

worked perfectly.

Notice that if we had avoided or if

we had cropped the couple a little by

the waist, the truth is that it would

have worked well, right?

And also notice that the column or the

line that I am marking now does not

finish working, it is with which it does

not work either.

The images are correct but there are small

nuances, small things that do not end up

working and that is missing a little bit

to get there, okay?

We are going to go for other images

of our friend Joe Macas.

I would like to show you this first,

I think it is a pretty, pretty, pretty

pretty photo.

Notice how well the light works here, that

is, if I have these lights, right?

That work so well that they go from

left to right that you can almost touch

them.

They are very, very plastic lights, very, very

interesting.

And what we see, I suppose it will

be Joe's wife, here also later with her

child, with the Batman shirt.

And well, I love that the child is

right between the legs, for example, because of

his mother.

How well the hands work, for example, how

the feet also work and it is a

super, super, super natural image, which is very,

very good, okay?

It is quite good.

Well, and as we are seeing, I think

we have to congratulate him.

I don't know if this image is from

I think it is the one you are

waiting for because the photograph has a current

Well, and speaking, for example, of this image,

what I must tell you is that the

light is super interesting, how it plays with

the hands and, above all, with the language

or with the information that it is giving

us, so nothing, congratulations, really.

Okay, well, let's talk about the next photographer

who sent us images.

I'm talking about Francesca and Francesca sent us

three photos and I want us to see

them.

This first one, this one, and this one

too.

Honestly, my favorite is this one because the

neutral background is simply formed by that amount

of droplets that the child is throwing at

us and I think that, that is, it

catches a lot and I don't know, there

is something that worries me and, above all,

it reminds me of summer, of the happiness

of the children, of how they throw water

and all these things and I think it

is quite good.

Then we have these images that are interesting

but no longer reach the power that the

first one had and look at how the

background here no longer works so well, the

intrusive lights are everywhere and I think the

background should have worked more or it should

have, for example, been cut, but of course,

if we cut it, the background no longer

begins to work because we would carry the

foot of the child on the left or

the child on the right, so we would

have to look or simply darken the sky

a little and also the light that hits

the ground to direct all the gaze towards

the children.

If we go to this one, it also

seems very interesting to me how it has

been played with the colors, how it has

been played with the lights, but notice that

there are lines that do not end up

convincing, for example, like the one I am

pointing out now, that makes it not end

up working and the line that we are

seeing horizontally does not end up convincing me

either, but the rest works quite well.

I have to remember that Francesca was the

winner of the edition contest in which the

presets were won, so well, first congratulations for

the prize and second congratulations also for sending

me this piece of images.

Ok Francesca, let's go for the next one

and we are going to go for the

crazy Alfonso Wassmer.

Alfonso, creativity surely that you do not lack

at all and the images that Alfonso has

sent us, I want us to take a

look, we are talking about how he played

with these marionettes or these figurines.

For me, I think the most interesting could

be this one, in which it is not

a hard light but it is an interesting

light, that is, remember that the day may

come out cloudy or foggy or a very

very strong sun does not come out, but

the most important thing is to find an

interesting light, it is the starting point for

everything and the rest we will already play.

As you are seeing Alfonso here, well, he

has played as if the couple were a

couple of marionettes.

I see that the bride or the girl,

for example, in this case lost her left

hand, so well, nothing happens.

Let's go for the second one, okay?

Although it is a vertical photo and you

already know that vertical photos sometimes do not

convince me, because they have to have a

higher power and it is also super complicated

to find the composition in them, but I

would like to talk to you, for example,

about it.

The biggest mistake or the main mistake I

see is this, in which, notice that the

left arm of the figure is touching, or

the left arm of the boy is touching

the girl's left leg, so that does not

end up working.

I love that continuous light with which you

have played with the girl, I think it

is very very interesting.

I would dare to say that it is

a LED light and it works very well,

that is, how you have also directed her

hands and how you have placed the boy.

Perhaps the boy would have worked better if

he had not looked at us, but if

he had looked well to the left or

well to the right, but hey, it works

quite well and above all the idea is

very good, okay?

And we are going for the last one.

The truth is that the idea again is

good, but as always, it lacks a little

degree of execution, right?

And what I mean is that, notice that

the neutral blue background is perfect, but the

line that cuts through the boy's head does

not end up working and also it does

not end up working for me at all,

that the left foot and the right foot

of him are mutilated, with which we should

have picked up those legs a little or

have taken a small step back so that

everything would have fitted perfectly.

So nothing, Alfonso, it was just not good.

You have a very, very interesting job, but

just as I was saying, for example, to

Jorge Sulbaran and, for example, to Rafa Vicheros,

you just have to think a little more

and you just have to breathe deeply and

know, I mean, before pressing the click, think

about what is at all ends of my

frame and see how we can correct it.

At the moment you look at all ends

and see what there is, I assure you

that the photograph will change, but totally, okay?

friend Andrés Montoya, who titles this image as

background works, right?

I always say that they seem very, very

interesting to me, that is, the contrast, right?

Between colors that have a warm temperature and

colors that have a cold temperature, right?

I love this type of edition and I

also love how you have positioned yourself there,

okay?

of your comfort zone and how you have

photographed yourself in a very, very interesting location,

How did you play with the geometry, which

was something that I had forgotten to comment

on, which is also something fundamental, and above

With the neutral background of the sky and

with the geometry in a circular way, very

interesting.

plays with his daughter, look at what an

interesting light too, look at how he played

with all the balls, I want to think

that you raised or played with all the

balls, and well, and with the girl with

those glasses, so interesting, right?

Let's also go for our friend Andrea Cazziola,

I have known Andrea for a long time,

for several years, he has attended several of

my workshops, he lives in southern Italy and

is an incredible person, in addition to being

a photographer, because as you are seeing, super

interesting.

For how he has played with that master

line that cuts in half, which seems super

interesting to me, how he has played with

the greens, with the blues ...

Notice that in addition, both the green and

the blue are colors, that is, they are

cold colors, but notice that in this photograph,

what Andrea has achieved, that the cold colors

are warm colors, right?

So it seems very, very interesting to me,

well, how he has played, okay?

I always say that the people that I

portray, who do not look at the camera,

unless they have an incredible look or a

It works perfectly, and how, after seeing his

look, I am going to entertain myself or

observe the rest of the image and I

already see, right?

How the girl is playing and the girl

is bathed with an incredible light, it works

perfectly, and also look at how well that

neutral background works, it is completely black, okay?

But it is a perfect light-dark game,

And it reminds me of a painting, so

Alex Torres.

Sincerely, when I saw the image of Alex

Torres, I wondered, right?

That it had been done during this quarantine,

that despite seeing that in the metadata the

image was shot in the days that I

told you it should be photographed, I asked

Alex, right?

And I said, Alex, have you photographed this

in these days?

And he clearly said yes, right?

So congratulations, one, for convincing a couple in

these days, which surely was not easy to

convince them, so congratulations.

And already, a little by analyzing it, I

have to congratulate you because you have played

perfectly with light, with interesting light, with neutral

backgrounds, with little hands, you have played with

the couple, although they do not look at

each other, there is a complicity thanks to

the hands, great, great.

But there is another little detail that I

would like to point out, which is that

hand that is cut off from the boy.

Those small mistakes make a photograph that could

be outstanding, or noteworthy.

So, please, always, once again, remember, before you

press, before you click, that is, think, the

bastard of Spanish who told me, before pressing

the click, we are going to observe the

ends of the frame to see if everything

works.

If it doesn't work, guys, that hand goes

what I like is how Vicente has played

with those primary colors in which it could

be a reddish purple, a blue of the

So everything works well, except, again, a part

that is mutilated and, surely, you don't need

me to tell you what it is, right?

That little leg that cuts around here.

Those little mistakes make our images not be

perfectly closed.

So remember, correct them well, please.

And it's not because it's the best, but

it's going to be the winner for me

and what also for Erika, because, well, I

asked her, right?

I say, which one, which one, which one?

I mean, which one do we choose, right?

And the truth is that we were thinking

between this one, especially Andrea's, we thought about

Xeni too, which could be very, very interesting.

We were also thinking about Alfonso's creativity, right?

example, about Jorge Sulbarán, because he took out

a room, a lot of creative resources to

which we must praise, we must congratulate, but

in all these images there were small mistakes

and, honestly, the one that transmitted us a

better vibe, a better atmosphere, and how he

had played with those primary colors, neutral backgrounds,

hard light or very interesting light, had been

Marcelo Domiciano, from Brazil.

small mistakes, right?

Like that line that he is mutilating by

so well, and I, perhaps, the approach would

have directed it towards him and not towards
