workshop that we had this past weekend and

in the previous one that we had in

Madrid, there were several students or several classmates

who asked us if, or were amazed when

we said that we did not accept all

the weddings that we received.

And there were some who said, ah, don't

you accept everything?

And we said, let's see, no, normally we

don't accept all weddings or all proposals that

we receive because of several issues that I

am going to address today and that we

have a little gathered or that we have

written with Erika to share with you.

Before I start, first of all, I have

to make things very clear.

to tell you today, do not follow it,

If you are starting and you are in

need of weddings, do not follow all this

indicated number with the rates that you have

do not follow everything that I am going

to tell you now because it may be

counterproductive.

Although you are doing very well and all

these things and everything, everything, everything perfect in

it is only my opinion and our criteria

and that we completely do not know what

No, we do not accept all the proposals

that we receive and there are many factors.

The first is that no one thinks that

if a couple is pretty or ugly, that

is going to be a determining factor, what's

more, we don't care about that at all.

Everyone has the right to be taken pictures

of, whether they are handsome, ugly, tall, thin,

fat, small, whatever, that is, that is not

a determining factor.

What is a determining factor for us is

that first email we receive.

Remember that we do not have a physical

study by which we can meet with a

partner, but almost better because that way we

do not empathize with the partner and we

do not know her, with which it is

easier for us to say no to someone,

okay?

That is, the most important thing for us,

first of all, is the first email we

receive.

Our experience, in our case, tells us that

if we receive an email, for example, in

which it only tells us, hey, I'm getting

married on April 5, give me a budget.

We are going to answer, but we already

know that 90% of the chances of

that wedding are not going to happen, okay?

And speaking of feelings, we do not accept,

for example, a wedding at the moment we

meet and the couple starts asking us super

strange questions.

For example, strange questions could be like the

last one they asked us and I told

them that it was a question and in

the end the meeting ended quickly, right?

It was, hey, what is the percentage of

creative photos you take in a day and

what is the percentage that not?

That question was out of context.

The other question was also something like saying,

hey, I got married on a farm that

is not very beautiful, oh no, sorry, in

a church that has the exit, that is,

the door is not very beautiful because it

is in a very, very small alley, there

you can take good pictures.

I mean, that set of questions so out

of context, we already know from experience, in

our case, that the thing that starts badly,

ends badly.

I mean, we prefer, even if we have

that free date, to say that it is

finally occupied or that we have filled it

at the last moment so that we do

not have problems.

I mean, believe us that those weddings or

those couples with so many questions in which,

for example, they measure what they pay, I

mean, they do not measure the photos as

quality, but by number, and then it is

likely that we get into a fight with

those customers and we are not available for

that because we have already suffered all that,

right?

More things for which we do not accept

weddings.

The season can be divided, at least here

in Spain, or our season, sorry, is very

marked.

I mean, we could say that season ...

I mean, there are weddings all year round,

but the high season for us is from

mid-May to mid-October, right?

Which means that if we receive a wedding

in the month of June, a local wedding,

from a farm that does not even ...

I mean, that the elements, the ingredients of

that wedding do not attract us, we directly

risk it and even if we have it

free, we say no.

Be careful, the moment you get to do

this, or before doing it, it is not

easy at all, because you are rejecting a

fiancée, I mean, the photographers, as everyone knows,

we not only live from what we earn

that day by photographing the wedding, but the

previous reservation fiancées that we receive, of course,

to say that does not imply rejecting that

fiancée, of course, rejecting money, it is not

easy that.

Once you have done it five times, I

suppose it will be like stealing banks or

I don't know, once you've done it, you

don't feel so bad anymore, but of course,

once you've done it, you know that there

is no going back, that is to say,

this is not that you do it for

a year and the next year you come

back, once you do it, you know that

it will be forever, and after all, what

we always say, that it is useful for

us to accept a wedding in a place

that does not attract us, that we know

that at most it is only money, that

is, that it will only bring money, well,

at the moment, if it coincides, if it

coincides in high season, obviously we say no,

because I have already said it many times

around here, we, well, of course, photographers, not

only live from what we earn for a

wedding, but from what we then publish of

said wedding, that is to say, obviously we

earn money and we live from that, but

we also live from what we are going

to publish in the future, a wedding in

a high season, on a farm with almost

no more, a couple that does not attract

us at all, classic or as we want

to understand it, with a set of elements

that does not match our way of understanding

this, then what will that affect us?

Nothing, I mean, okay, money, but no, I

want to publish in high season, I want

to move, I want to be taking photos

that attract me and that attract future customers

that we want, which is why that is

of little use, of course, if it is

low season, I mean, for us, low season

could be, for example, November, it could be

March, it could even be April, of course,

then we receive, for example, for a wedding

and we are going to fight for it

and be careful, and I am not going

to be a hypocrite, I receive for a

wedding in March and I am going to

try to even lower the rates a bit

Because for me it is very important to

be trained for when May or June arrives,

that is, if I reach or we reach,

we hire a wedding in March, we understand

that as, in addition to motivating us to

work, because we are going to warm up

the engines, training to be ready, as if

it comes in December, obviously, because we are

going to accept it, it does not mean

that in March we do not receive incredible

couples, as is the case this year, or

even in December, we also have a very

interesting couple, well, two, I mean, I want

to generalize always, that is important, of course,

I do not know if you, speaking of

high season and low season, I do not

know if it has ever happened to you

or 90% weddings that were brutal, that

we wanted, of course, that implied saying no

to many, I mean, it is not that

we go for super kings or super rock

stars, that is, saying that no, you do

not, no, we simply think in our business,

just like customers think about their wedding, that

is to say, there is nothing wrong with

coming to reject and I know that more

than any of you who are listening to

me now, you have asked me sometime, fuck

man, I mean, I'm tired of doing the

same weddings every year and the same thing

always happens, high season, I close it with

a year and a half of time and

then in the absence of six months is

when I receive the super budgets and I

have to say no because I am already

busy, I mean, to all these people who

are listening to me and this happens to

you, I think that some of these tips

may work for you, right?

Here everyone knows their own business, here everyone

knows the numbers they need to finish, no

longer the month, because we are self-employed,

but the damn year, with which to keep

all these parameters in mind and better than

you, no one knows the money you need

take, because when I started as a wedding

photographer, I obviously accepted everything, high or low

season, I could not stand when a photographer
