I had found, or how I had to

do it to find a second photographer, an

assistant or better than an assistant, I mean

a partner who helps you shoot.

I do not mean the assistant who carries

a flash or similar, but a partner who

shoots with you, that is, how to form

a team in conditions of two people to

photograph a wedding.

First of all, simply clarify if I am

only one and you have not thought of

having one more partner, it does not matter,

each one has his way of working.

Simply, since I started, in fact, I started

as a second photographer and later I already

undertook my solo career, but I have always

relied on a partner who has helped me

to photograph the wedding.

Why, in my case, a second photographer?

Mainly because I have two points of view

at the same time and in preparatory moments

I am fully concentrated.

For example, if I am in charge of

photographing the preparations for the bride, I am

focused only on that, not thinking that I

have to leave in five minutes to run

to the groom's house and then return to

the church and then ...

No, above all, I prefer to be calm,

to be focused and to be where I

am and not so attentive to what the

clock can be, but each one works as

he knows, as he can and as he

wants.

So, we are going to focus or I

am going to explain, share with you what

have been my guidelines or my little things

to always find a partner or partner in

this case, as currently, to help me with

all the weddings.

I started photographing weddings, that is, I mean,

on my own, almost 11 years ago and

I already decided to count on several colleagues.

That was the first mistake, despite the fact

that I worked, well, or that my colleagues

or my second photographers, one was Miquel Picabea

and the other Pedro Etura, yes, Pedro Etura

was also a colleague of mine, that is,

he helped me as a second photographer, despite

the fact that both were very, very good,

that is, I counted on them depending on

their availability.

Of course, they are not the same, so

each report varied and I did not fit

in.

Sometimes working with Pedro was very easy, also

with Miquel, but, that is, constantly changing that

drove me crazy, that is, I did not

go, I did not work as well as

I wanted.

Finally, there was a colleague named Pedro, Pedro

Anguila, he is a photographer who, in the

past, well, at present, was specialized in making

portraits of, well, music bands, writers, I mean,

something more corporate, right?

Of course, at that time Pedro needed work,

he proposed to me, because we were friends,

I mean, he told me if he could

come with me, right?

As a second, so I said yes, I

also loved the idea of having a photographer,

just one with me, right?

And not several, because if not, I always

did not finish forming a good team, so

then I thought of one.

Keep in mind that Pedro, Pedro Anguila, was

a photographer who already had a career, but

not in weddings, he had never photographed, so

the first thing I had to do was

meet him, instruct him, that is, instruct him,

that is, show him weddings and not just

weddings, which is what I wanted him to

photograph, right?

With Pedro I was several months, if we

photographed, for example, for a wedding on Saturday,

on Monday we were eating, that is, eating

for two reasons, the first for making community,

which is very important for being a real

team, and two for criticizing, that is, we

reviewed his wedding from end to end to

say this yes, this no, this yes, this

no, this yes, that is, I invested time

in him, with which one of those tips

that I can give you that you are

going to have to invest in your partner

so that it works and that you form

a team in conditions, that was the first

thing, someone asked, hey, and you would have

a photographer who has no experience, leaves school,

man, it is a bit risky to take

into account and you know it perfectly well,

weddings are not easy, not only to follow

the rhythm, but also to handle the situation

with people, after all, we work with people,

so be careful, okay?

I mean, having a rhythm, I mean, knowing

how to shoot, exposing correctly, anticipating, I mean,

you have to have a background and sometimes,

unless you are a very talented person, there

may be, for example, problems, right?

In that case, therefore, I have always counted

on colleagues who have already been in this

profession, although not at weddings, but at the

end of the day, it is only to

instruct and show and teach, right?

I mean, I was working with Pedro for,

I think, five or six years, everything worked,

until things, well, Erika started to accompany me

to the weddings of destiny, little by little,

in the end, I already decided, I mean,

I am going to start, although Pedro is

a great photographer, well, to count on my

wife, right?

And already to set up a team with

my wife.

At that moment, when Erika started, she thought

that the most important thing in wedding photography

was to control the technique, I mean, diaphragms,

speeds, and all those things, and I told

her, you are very wrong, I mean, in

wedding photography, more than that, that this is

something mechanical, that is something practical, what you

have to know is to be there, to

know what you want to photograph, to know

where you want to go, to know or

intuit what is going to happen, that is

the important thing, and to know what type

of photos, as I said, you want to

capture, I mean, that was the main thing.

The luck I had with Erika was that

she, I mean, when I started doing weddings

as an assistant or as a second photographer,

sorry, she was already with me, I mean,

we were already together, she saw the whole

process.

During all those years, every time I published

something on Instagram, no, on Instagram, no, it

didn't exist, on Facebook, wherever, I gave her

advice, to her as a girl, and she

unconsciously saw my works, constantly, because I showed

them to her.

What happened?

The important thing is that she was nourished

by images, she was constantly nourished, that is,

with which the time came when she started

doing weddings, the technique did not control her,

it was not so complicated for her, you

understand me?

And one of the things that Erika has

is that when she proposes something to her,

she ends up getting it, and that's how

it has been, doing an exceptional job to

this day, and it's not because she's my

wife, but because, luckily or unfortunately, in photography,

no matter how much we have lips, what

remains are the damn photos.

It's the same as you talk, you show

me, and Erika shows it, you understand me?

With which, I mean, we are a team,

and at the moment that, well, when Erika,

got pregnant, for example, that I didn't count

on her, I missed her not being there,

but when Erika was pregnant, what happened?

I had to count on someone, right?

And I counted on a very young photographer,

who had a very short career, but it

is true that he is super, super, super

talented, he is the best, okay?

I mean, what did I do?

I asked Javier Rojas, who is the photographer

I'm talking about, to accompany Erika and me

at two or three weddings, so that he

could see how we worked, so that he

could see what the rhythm was, and so

on.

And with Javier, I did the same as

with Pedro Anguila, I started to correct him,

I started to train him, I started to

stay and eat with him, I mean, to

be a team, okay?

And above all, things, right?

What I told Javi, I'm going to teach

you everything, I mean, everything I know.

I don't want us to end up badly,

I know you're going to leave, because I'm

only offering you, well, for a time interval,

but in that time interval, I want you

to work well, I want us to be

friends, I want us to do it well,

and you, who I know is, you are

a talented photographer, the day you fly, I

want us to remain friends.

Why?

Because he will end up being a great

photographer, not only from my city, but from

Spain, and I want that when I miss

weddings, that he recommends me, as a vice

versa, do you understand where I'm going or

not?

I mean, with which, that is very important,

we have to understand that we have all

been in a nest, with mom and dad,

and we have flown, it is part of

photography, we have to understand that, that in

the end, it is part of life, to

teach and for people to end up leaving,

but we can teach people to leave, and

we can end up well or badly, ending

up well is essential, ending up badly is

only going to bring problems, and that in

the end they speak ill of us, enmities,

no, because if we end up well, then

the thing will end up working well, and

it will be reciprocal.

How much do I pay, or have I

reached, for example, to pay the people who

have helped me, now with Ericano, because it

is a whole team, when we were working,

for example, with Javier or Pedro Anguila, what

I paid them was 10% of my

total, that is to say, if I went

to a wedding, I earned 3,000 euros,

because they charged 300, literally, that is, what

they did was give me all the roles,

all of them, they did not edit anything,

because they do not edit like me, not

even Erika, although she does it well, edits

like me, that is, I prefer to edit

them myself, and that they all look the

same, you understand, they all have the same

aesthetics, the same strength, the same tone, colors,

contrast, I mean, I prefer it to be

me, right?

they never signed any kind of contracts, I

mean, neither with Pedro Anguila, because he was

a friend, nor with Javier, who was a

friend, but they did not sign a contract

in the aspect that they, if they wanted,

was a more friendly aspect in this case,

I know for a fact that contracts are

signed with assistants, with seconds, to prohibit that

nothing is published, that each one has to

know, or has to handle it as best

he knows, or as he thinks is best

for his own business, okay?

Maybe if any of you want to mess

with an assistant, or with a second photographer,

what I would advise, right?

That it is not, well, that they take

the paths they want, but maybe it would

be good, right?

I mean, to have a photographer who already

has a little bit of a career, right?

That is, that he clearly knows what a

camera is, how to move, how to act,

that he is an open guy, or an

open person, that is, I mean, he is

open-minded, eager to work, and above all,

as I have told you at the beginning

of the video, you are going to have

to be patient, and you are going to

have to, if you want to have a

good partner, or good partner, you are going

to have to teach him, you are going

to have to waste time, it is not

wasting, it is investing, do you understand?

you to share a wedding, right?

The first rule is that, if you work

with me, it would be that, if you

want to publish photos, you can do it,

but always with my consent, and always after

I publish.

Whenever you publish, you will always have to

mention, or you should mention, how you got

that photo in that wedding.

I mean, that wedding is not yours, it

is from whoever you shared it with.

Three, if you are going to present photos

at a contest, you should mention when you

win with that photo, I mean, why did

you get it?
