We are in my parents' house, in the

Huesca, in the north of Spain, very close

to France, and we have come here to

spend a few Christmas days.

The story is that, as I told you,

we are improvising a little bit because Erika

is recording.

We haven't brought a foot or a gimbal

to be able to record ourselves, so if

the image shakes or if it doesn't have

the quality that would be good, well, that.

The important thing is that it is heard

well and that you understand the message a

little bit, which is what it is about.

First of all, to congratulate everyone for Christmas

and, second of all, I would like to

of my parents' house where we are.

Today is Christmas Day.

Yesterday we had a good night's dinner here

and I suppose that, because of the wine

and the glasses and the talks and the

laughs and everything, my mother has here, as

These three images are the images that my

mother actually has hanging here.

The story is that the first thing I

want to share with you is that, well,

the wedding was one of the most interesting

workshops I've had.

The most interesting, well, in my whole life,

right?

Because we are talking about me getting married

to Erika in 2015.

In that season, my criteria, my ideas, or

my philosophy about wedding photography, the thing that

distanced me a lot from what it is

now.

At that time, I always wondered, right?

Why did I have to take a family

picture if the guests could do it with

their damn mobile phone?

I mean, they made me lose a crucial

time, a time for what?

Sorry, to create photos for whom?

For me?

Not for them, for my clients.

Well, I think you understand me, right?

Where I'm going.

So, my philosophy was to say, well, or

to think, sorry, because I never said it,

was to think, well, let's create incredible images,

obviously for the clients, but also, obviously, for

me.

I mean, having 30 minutes to take pictures

like this made my head break the thread

and all that.

Of course, the moment I get married, I

realize that I finish the ceremony and we

hook up, or I ask the photographers of

our wedding not only to take this picture

with my parents and also with my brother

here, but I also ask them to do

it for different combinations, those things that we

like so much, with different, well, with Erika's

family, with her brothers, with the dog Biela,

who is no longer with us.

I mean, a whole set of images that

I had always been against, but that had

made me rethink without even putting on a

contract that I didn't do that kind of

images.

To this day, clients still sometimes ask me

if we take family photos, and my answer

is yes.

I think the yes is so convincing that

the couple realizes the importance that it is

for me, that it is for me to

take a family photo, because, yes, the beautiful

photos, the great moments, the great portraits, all

these photographs that we think are so important

that we think they are the wedding photographers

and that we are right, do not take

away so that these photographs are not important,

because these photographs are the ones that will

stay forever.

In fact, it is a good way to

have collected those who were, those who are,

not invited anymore, but the direct family.

For example, here it makes me a lot

of fun to see, for example, my sister

-in-law with the child.

My nephew was just a year old at

the time, now he is more than a

year old, now he is seven years old,

and even my father-in-law, who looks

not young, because he was not young, but

he looks strong, and my father, who, well,

until a month and a bit in the

hospital, we thought he was not going to

arrive, because there were Christmas, that is, we

were going to spend Christmas at the hospital,

it has not been like that, thank God,

but I mean, these are memories.

I mean, it is true that my mother,

and at least she has a great moment,

which is the moment when we give her

the bouquet, both to my mother-in-law

and to my mother-in-law, just before

dinner, and I asked her yesterday, why does

she have this image printed and does not

have another printed, and she told me because

it is one of the great moments, or

one of the best moments that she remembers

the day of our wedding, because it was

a very intimate moment, very beautiful, and we

were there very united, and the story is

that.

The thing is that I wanted to share

all this set of images with you, because

sometimes our interests or our convictions as photographers

are very different from what, sometimes, the clients

or the people who surround the clients need

from us.

I do not mean that we abandon or

that you abandon your philosophy, each one is

free to think and shoot as he can

and as he wants, that is, that is

each one, but if you are in that

phase in which I was in 2015, in

which I believed that taking family photos was

a little less than wasting time, that you

know that you are a little wrong, and

as I told you at the beginning of

the video, that wedding was one of the

great workshops in my professional career, because I

understood the importance of wedding photography, which is

called social reporting, and that it implies, and

that it is true that wedding photography has

evolved, and we are now building images or

reports with an amazing quality, not at the

creative level, but also at the memorable level,

or simply by photographing what the people were

and those who surrounded them at that precise

moment.

So, well, I just wanted to share these

little things with you, in which yesterday, I

do not know if because of the state

of the wine or what I drank, made

me think a lot about how a mother,

or how, not my mother, but the mothers

of all the brides we photograph, what photos

they have hanging in the living room of

their house.

It is likely that they do not have

that photo captured in a way, with 50

flashes, that photo with an excellent composition, I

mean, well, some brides may have that as

a good memory, but surely they also have

these as a great memory.

So, nothing more, I just wanted to share

with you the Christmas day, in addition to

congratulating you these dates.

I am sure you are going to see

because here we are going to be at

my parents' house for a few days, so
