Welcome to a new episode.

We hope, as always, that things go as

well as possible.

And here we are, with a thousand doors

open, but with a very clear direction to

where we want to go.

The truth is that this last part of

the season is being very dense and, well,

up to work.

So here we are, right?

I mean, waiting to deliver almost everything quickly,

to see if for Christmas we have almost

everything ready, right?

Well, in today's video I would like to

talk to you about one of the last

sessions that we have photographed.

And it is likely that some of you

have already seen it or have seen a

few photos on Instagram.

But I don't just want to show you

some of the best images, but today's video

is designed to settle concepts and simply show

you that set of patterns that are repeated

in the vast majority of our photos, in

this case of portraits, so that you can

see that we always follow specific rules that

make it easier for us to get to

the final result or to the photograph that

we want to photograph.

That is why in this video what I

am going to show you is a few

photos that we took or some of our

favorites that we took in Rocío and Ricky's

session.

And simply because of that, I would like

to first explain or share with you the

concepts that you are going to see or

the patterns that you are going to see

repeated in all the images or in 99

.9% of the images that you are

going to see and how not to explain

to you or argue a little more some

of them to try to explain something better

than what I am doing now, okay?

The patterns, as many of you already know

and as some of you should know, the

patterns that are going to be repeated or

that you are going to see, the first

of all, and it could be said that

the first with the second always go hand

in hand, which is to find an attractive

background and an attractive light as well, but

the background is no longer, if I mean

attractive, it has to be a clean background,

a neutral background.

As I said in the previous video, neutral

backgrounds for me, the ones that work best

are those that have, or those that are

colored, I mean, a white background, a green,

red, yellow background, I mean, colored backgrounds are

going to make it easier for me to

get a much more powerful image, the clean

background, as you already know, is going to

highlight or help highlight the couple that we

are going to photograph.

Hand in hand, the light will always go.

And you will see how in the session

there is so much, primarily, hard lights, but

it does not mean that at some point,

as you will see, they are softer lights,

but hard or soft, they have to be

100% controlled.

Once we have those two fundamental pillars, which

I am talking about light and background, the

next thing is going to be to play

with body language, that is essential, from, as

you already know, hands, eyes, lips, or just

looks, well, eyes, in this case, and in

short, thanks to body language, what we are

going to achieve is that the couple is

connected, that is, there is a force because

the next point is to separate or divide,

sorry, the frame into two parts.

When we divide the frame into two parts,

what we are going to do, as you

well know, is simply to balance, that is,

to make sure that there is information, both

on the right and on the left, or

up or down, but that's what it's about.

Therefore, if we are separating the couple, if

we are dividing the frame into two parts,

what we are going to do is always,

thanks to body language, make that couple 100

% connected.

And then there will be some other little

tip, how to hide the ground, that is,

not to show the ground.

Why?

Because you already know that we are going

to try to make the images not so

obvious.

And another little tip that I could tell

you is simply to be honest with yourself

and show love as you feel it.

If you are very romantic people, show your

partner in a very romantic way.

If you are people, it does not mean

that we like love, but not so romantic,

don't be like that, be honest with yourselves.

Having said that, what I'm going to start

with is simply to show you those 14

or 15 images that I have selected and

that I find attractive.

At the end of the video, of those

15 images that I like, you will see

that I made a selection and I was

left with only 8 or 9.

I think it is also important that I

speak at the end why I discarded that

type of images that I finally did not

publish on Instagram and maybe it can be

a little interesting.

So we are just going to show you

the images and in one way or another

I am going to stop and I am

going to tell you a little bit how,

not how it was done, but what things

were important.

Because in the future I do want to

create a video in which you see the

complete gallery that I delivered.

Because the couple who hired us is an

American couple who came to Barcelona to spend

a few holidays and hired us, as she

said, to have small pieces of art.

And what I didn't want was for us

to be doing portraits like that, very ...

well, you understand me, right?

Well, that, and that's why I think it's

important that you see that complete gallery in

the future.

But today we are going to start with

those 15 favorites of ours, okay?

So the first one is this, the one

you are seeing.

And well, just remember that the origin of

this video is to share with you concepts.

And as you are seeing, sorry, share with

you concepts that help me find that photograph.

Or that set of patterns that help me

find that final photograph.

As you can see, divide the image into

two parts.

Find an attractive background, maybe I should start

with that.

Find an attractive background, okay?

Play with the light, in this case it

is hard.

Answering a question that a Patreon colleague asked

me recently.

Yeah, but how do you avoid those shadows

in hard light?

Let's see, when I talk about hard light,

I'm not talking about midday light.

I'm talking about light, that is, if now

in Spain the sunset is at 7 o

'clock, I'm talking about playing with that light

at 4.30 in the afternoon.

That is, it is a powerful light, but

it is not a midday light in which

to chat.

Obviously, as you are seeing, I sometimes try

to move the chin up a little bit.

In this case, as you can see from

the bride, to avoid shadows.

Also, sometimes, if it becomes...

I also usually use, well, if they wear

sunglasses, I tell them to put them on,

so we avoid shadows.

But in the least number of cases, okay?

But sometimes sunglasses tend to help a little,

okay?

Describing a little more, for example, by the

photograph, simply show that, again, you don't see

the floor, the floor on which the couple

is, okay?

You see that body language is simply tilting

or inviting the couple so that they are

connected, even if it is only with the

body, right?

That is, 45 degrees each to the side

where the other person is, okay?

When I'm talking about body language, also, as

you are seeing, for example, in this image,

it is to play with the hands.

You already know that the hands are fundamental

to me, but as you are seeing, it

is the same light game.

Divide the frame into two parts, find an

attractive background.

I mean, that set of patterns is constantly

being repeated, which, for example, help me a

lot, but sometimes, as you are going to

see now, I don't always follow, for example,

those patterns, but they don't go very, very

far either, because if we take a look

at this image, I think you will see

that, okay, it is not a 100%

clean background, but notice that I have tried

as much as possible to find an attractive

background, okay?

That is, that it works well.

A light, of course, that, even if it

is soft, works perfectly.

Notice that I tried, not entirely, but almost

to eliminate the background, to eliminate the ground,

as so many times, and here the frame

is not divided, as is obvious, in two

parts because they are centered, but you can

see that the first two or the next

ones that you are going to see, the

vast majority are separated, the vast majority, because

the next one is not either, but notice

that it is a more artistic exercise, or

more creative, or more about body language.

Notice that, despite the fact that the background

is not clean, despite the fact that the

couple is together, it is a more romantic

photo, so to speak, but notice that everything

is going to, that is, it is going

to rely on what is the, I mean,

all the strength of the image, sorry, relies

on her hand, that is, I am already

talking about body language, okay?

If we already break with everything before, that

is, with all the two most romantic photos,

we are going to start playing with something

more attractive, with a bright girlfriend, with a

boyfriend, for example, in silhouette, but notice that

I keep playing with the same concept, dividing

the frame into two parts, upper part, lower

part, and we are always going to play

with a clean background, I mean, as you

are seeing, in most of my images, that

set of patterns or concepts or elements is

repeated because I know that they are going

to work for me, and because I know

that that makes it easier for me, in

short, to get the, for photography, well, that,

I mean, that I'm actually looking for, but

it is that, notice that the next one

too, despite the fact that they are together,

is to divide the frame into two parts,

notice that body language makes those two heads

come together, okay?

And the background again remains a clean background.

I mean, you see that that set of

patterns is always repeated again, and also, if

in the previous photo I was, or had

placed the couple separately, in this photo I

am going to place them, well, in this

case together, you see that I always try

to have a visual rhythm.

If in the previous photo, in which the

couple is, for example, separated, it is likely

that the next one is just the opposite,

and vice versa, but as you can see

in this image, here, despite the fact that

you may think that it is not a

clean background, that apparently it may seem that

it is not, but that so abstract concept,

the arrival or the extra effort in finding

the couple, makes this photo seem really, well,

attractive to me.

And despite the fact that we may think

that it is not a clean background, for

me that repetition of the circles makes it

a clean background, that is, that it works,

okay?

If we already change the concept, if we

already go for a completely different concept, we

already go for this image, in which, notice

how well that body language works, and although

there is no hard light, it is important

to work or know how to work with

that type of light, with that type of

soft light, but look at that background, that

yellow background, with the white of the bride's

dress, with the blue American, of course, with

the skin of the same girl and the

boy, of course, it makes the yellow work

perfectly, but I think this image works even

better.

You see that, despite the fact that the

light is not a hard light, I have

subdued that little problem of not having a

hard light with the action, that action of

asking the girl to move her head was

only, or the reason was, because I wanted

those dreadlocks to know or intuit that the

moment the head moved, lines were going to

be created, it was going to be a

line, I mean, a formation of lines that

would create a circle, and that seemed really

attractive to me, and that it was going

to work in the final photograph, creating a

punch, that is, notice that I divided the

frame into two parts, up and down, the

background works perfectly, I mean, I cleaned the

background perfectly, and notice that for each of

the parts, I mean, for each of the

boyfriends, or the boy with the girl, has

a different part of the background, but it

is that the colors, both the upper color

and the lower color, are complementary colors that

work perfectly and that work with the skin

color of the couple, and I was worried,

speaking of body language, in which the boy

and the girl were connected, or at least

the boy with the look, for what?

For them to be connected, because if not,

if the boy had been looking up, the

look goes up, the girl, when she moves

her head, goes up, and in short, it

does not quite work 100%, or what I

thought could be interesting.

The next image I want to share with

you is this image, but I had doubts

whether to publish it, that is, whether to

edit it in color, as you are seeing

now, or in black and white.

Finally, I opted for black and white for

two reasons.

The first reason is that when I edited

it in color, as you are seeing now,

although the girl, although Ro was not sweating,

it seemed as if she were sweating and

it seemed that she had glitters on her

face.

What did I do then?

Switch to black and white to know what

was happening in black and white, and also,

I was clear that not only, thanks to

black and white, I was not only going

to eliminate those glitters that I did not

have, but that it seemed that her skin

had glitters, but I was also going to

decontextualize it even more.

That is to say, in black and white

I still had a more abstract concept.

In other words, thanks to black and white,

I was able to kill two birds with

one stone and I was finally able to

stay with the image that I have shown

you.

Then comes a set of images that perhaps

the level is a little lower, but that

I wanted to share with you.

The first is this, and you see how

I keep looking for those patterns, an interesting

light, a clean background, divide the frame into

two parts, and ultimately it will start to

work.

But you see that the body language, in

this case, no longer works and it looks

more like a more advertising photograph than a

wedding one.

And also, the energy that it has, for

example, for the image, does not end up

being the energy that I am looking for.

But in the same place, in the same

place, in the same place where we were,

I changed completely and I already asked the

groom that instead of locating himself there, that

he would place himself in the place where

the bride was sitting, that is to say,

that he would stand up and the bride

would place herself down.

What does this mean?

In addition to playing with an interesting light,

a neutral background, divide the frame into two

parts, hide the ground in which it is

found, all that I have been explaining in

all the photos.

I also want to add, to lose the

fear of understanding the couple, not as a

boy or a girl, but as mere elements

or mere figures that we are simply going

to play with them at all times until

we get something interesting and without any fear.

Even the couple told me when I was

asking for this, now here, now there, I

said, man, this is crazy.

But they laughed at me.

But why were they laughing?

Because I was having a good time and

they felt that I was controlling at all

times what I was doing.

If any of you want to do this

but the couple feels that you have doubts,

they are going to get angry and you

will see that it does not give us

time for this type of photos.

I mean, for a couple to give you

time and feel stable with you, they have

to feel that you carry the reins at

all times of the situation.

If not, they are going to get nervous

like you and they will not let you

work calmly.

After I had this, I went for another

image which is the one I am showing

you now, which is honestly beautiful, it is

a visual exercise, but for my taste, I

think it is too quiet.

I mean, quiet does not have the energy

that I would like.

It is worth that those lines and everything

give it strength.

Notice again that the ground is not seen,

notice that I divided the frame into two

parts, notice that I played with an attractive

light.

I'm not going to continue with more, but

it does not add more.

And the last one, which is this one,

despite the fact that it plays with flashes,

there is an element that does not quite

convince me and it is that bride's arm

that does not finish, in addition to being

not quite worked out correctly, it is mutilated.

The light works, it is attractive, it is

a visual exercise for, well, more than anything

for the couple, but I have better photos,

right?

I have better photos and that's why I'm

not going to show it or you haven't

seen it in the gallery, for example, of

Instagram, because, as many of you know, one

thing is to shoot for you and the

couple, for the people who have hired us,

and another very different thing is to publish,

because the moment we publish, we have to

be much more demanding and we have to

know where we redirect all this.

First of all, I wanted to publish it,

why?

Because even if it seems strange, I had

not photographed a boy and girl couple of

color, it is strange, I know, yes I

had photographed people of color, but never a

couple.

In Spain, believe me, it is not so

common, I know, it is a bit absurd,

but they had not had that luck, therefore,

I wanted to publish it quickly, because it

had good material, or I liked it and

it had an international couple, in addition to

color, international means Americans who return to Barcelona

again.

I used to photograph this type of couple,

with which I want to redirect the cannon

again.

That is why I did not publish this

image, why?

Because it does not seem quite attractive to

me.

In addition, the aesthetics of the rest have

nothing to do with this image.

This image, for my taste, the following, I

mean, the number 14 does not contribute much

because it is too static.

Like the number 12, why?

For my taste, this is better.

The number 13 is much better than the

number 12, with which we are going to

stay with only one.

Although I thought a lot if the number

13 should be there because it is also

super static, but that visual exercise of the

girlfriend here and the girlfriend there seemed really

attractive to me.

The number 8, this image that you are

seeing, I did not publish it either because

clearly the next one is much better, with

which we always stay with one.

And why publish something that does not end

up working?

What other photos?

I mean, what other photos did I not

publish?

Well, this image, in which, for my taste,

it does not end up working either.

I think the next one is a little

better, more attractive.

Believe me, I also had doubts until I

got to publish both this and this one,

but well, my head got hot and in

the end I published it.

And finally, and with this I finish, I

had many doubts about publishing this image or

this image.

I say which is the best because in

the end it is the same, it is

in the same place.

They are two different sectors, but it is

the same, in the end, you don't have

to be ignorant.

But yesterday, when I published it, I felt

free to say, hey, I publish what I

get out of my bullseye.

And I'm going to take it out, you

know?

I say, why can't I afford to publish

two?

I know they are the same, right now

I think I would stay with the one

of the hands, after having published and all

that, and after having seen them all together,

I think it is better, but it is

what I did, okay?
