Clamshell lighting is when you have one light
source on top of the subject, pointing down,
and then one from the bottom.
Of course, you can achieve this with lights
on left and right of her as well.
In this case, we have a very beautiful
light source.
It's flat, it's less descriptive, but we're filling
in those shadows.
Of course, if we turn this light off,
you can see what I'm talking about, and
then we turn this light back on, now
it's lit quite evenly, it's less descriptive, and
great for the female face and beauty lighting.
Now, it's important to note that the light
sources have to be of the same intensity,
and if you have one light source slightly
more powerful, it would be the top one.
Otherwise, we get that very unflattering shadows on
the upper cheekbones, as we can see here.
So let's make sure that we light our
subjects evenly, top and bottom, and beautiful.
