Hope you are having
a good day.

This video has the intention
to... to show us a little bit about

how, when we change
the tools that we use,

the inspiration and our way to create
can modify our style...

(for better or for worse)

but I think we need to be open
and willing to ask these big questions:

"Which elements are an essential part
of my style, my job or my voice?"

And...
"What am I willing to sacrifice?"

I made all these photos this year
in Santorini, Greece.

As part of this session between
workshops and congresses that I gave.

This girl, Johanna, she is a photographer

and his boyfriend, he has motorcycle
and adventure rental business on this island.

I told them to take me
to their favorite place.

We went to their favorite place

with their favorite son who is their pet.

So...
I really liked trying to integrate him

in the photos.

(I am missing one of these photos)
We will see.

How these photos were made
will be shared in videos that come.

This whole session
-and many sessions I recorded there-

I put the GoPro on top of the camera

so we will see a series of video clips
about how they were made.

But in this video
I will mostly focus on the method, as well.

This is one of
my first sessions with Sony.

What I share, from now on
will be done with Sony camera,

the a7 III.

I bought this camera because
I got a very good deal, a good opportunity.

I good friend of mine told me
his cousin works at Sony.

This is a childhood friend.

He is not a photographer;
his wife is engaged in photography.

He told me this about
two years ago,

and I saw the evolution of Sony.

People in video started
to migrate to that channel

and it was very interesting to me

but when I tried Sony I felt like
the focus was still not there.

And then, I saw how people at video
was using it with this adapters,

and using old school lens...

and that caught my attention.

And...
Once I had one in my hands

of the most recent models
(2018-2019)

I honestly saw a world
of possibilities for what I do...

One is the eye focus (mind blowing)
can save you a lot,

but also to come back to this
"cinematographer" essence,

to be able to combine old optics

and have the
manual control of the camera.

I feel like Sony was
one of the first brands

that gave us the chance
to work very organically.

I am a Leica fan.

One of my favorite cameras
for personal photography is the Leica Q

The second version is available
but I won't invest in it anymore...

So, I have a couple of
M6 Leica Optics.

I had the opportunity
to get an adapter,

the metabones,

and I took this lens
and this camera with me

and this whole session we see here
is taken with a Zeiss 35mm lens, f2.

I always forget the name
but is something like: boigo, boigonn...

Something like that, exotic.
(I leave it in the comments)

and manual focus.

So, I liked this adventure
of having two people so dynamic,

and start to draw
another texture in the photos.

Let's see a bit
this series of images.

I can use the before/after,
so you will have an idea.

But I feel that the texture
this lens gives you... I like it.

This is the photo
as it was taken,

and this is the corrected photo.

I liked this opportuninty to
"stop" for a second

and to... to see what is happening
in front of me,

and not to react
(as I normally do at weddings)

and shooting to everything that moves.

In this case I took it a little slower,
I went to enjoy along with the couple.

I took more care of my composition

and based on that I started working

Almost all of these takes
I shot them between f2 and 2/8.

The lens is f2, for nature.

So, I stayed in open optical,

and I really liked
the texture this lens gives me...

How it receives the light

(that is not so perfect
as the optical nowadays),

and I feel it is an optical
that has become one of my favorites

and I will be using it more
in sessions,

as long as I have
a little control and time,

because on manual focus...
you know you will sacrifice a lot.

But i's a beauty to be able
to combine old tools with new ones,

I feel like...

I recommend you that when
you feel stocked (creatively speaking)

to try.

I'm feeling very comfortable
with this combo

and is going to force you out
a little bit of what you usually do.

It will give you the chance to analyze,
to think and to see what's in front of you.

And little by little
be more aware that the photo...

... goes beyond just our style.

It's about being with the couple,
about taking care of our composition,

is about
giving something of ourselves,

and not just reacting like a monkey.

So, I am telling you this
and I also take this advice for myself.

When you have the chance
to do a session calmly...

(I mean, the sun is unstoppable,
it will go up and it will go down...)

but when you can have this time,
dedicate this hours to...

...to give yourself a workshop.

Trying to meditate each photo,
taking care of the composition,

to be aware of your couple.

Not always thinking:
"I'm going to react"

"I'm going to be
the fastest guy in the west"

And that each image, if we take care of it,
can be worthy of the walls of our couple.
