[Love of Petals]

[Episode 19]

Luckily,

the demonic aura shared among the others

is still within their tolerable limits.

[Qingcheng Flower Nursery]

Don't blame yourself too much.

The demonic aura in your body is indeed too strong.

Without the support of spiritual power,

it's inevitable that you'll lose control and turn demonic.

No.

I cannot let myself lose control and become a demon.

My father fell into demonic corruption back then

and was falsely accused of slaughtering all the demons on Shouyang Mountain.

If I lose control,

those immortals who look down on me

will only see me as following in my father's footsteps

proving that

my father

did harm others after becoming a demon.

This is not the time

to dwell on the past.

My entire family was destroyed that day.

How do you expect me to let it go?

There must be more

to what happened on the seventh of March.

For now, let's focus on the present.

How is Qingcheng doing at the Sun's Mansion?

She only fainted.

Don't worry.

The poison hasn't reached her heart or lungs,

but it's strange.

It doesn't follow the vessels and meridians

but moves along her spiritual energy instead.

That means

it only harms those who already have spiritual energy.

Then why did others also lose consciousness?

Logically,

the people protecting the flower should be the guards from the Prince's Mansion.

They shouldn't have any spiritual power.

Wushuang.

My power is restricted right now.

I need you to handle something for me.

Alright.

[Peace and Clarity]

No!

Qingcheng.

Qingcheng.

Everyone, listen to me!

It really wasn't me!

It wasn't me!

I'm here.

Don't say that to me.

I'm right here.

Why are you here?

Master, how did you break through the barrier?

Do you not care about your life?

That doesn't matter right now.

Let me see.

Are you feeling unwell anywhere?

I'm fine.

There's nothing wrong with me.

I'm so...

Master.

I forgot to tell you.

I prepared something for you.

I meant to give it to you last time.

Why can't I find it?

Well...

Where did I put it?

Zisu is always so clumsy.

Wait a moment, Master.

Don't be impatient.

Master.

Look.

We're going to

travel and admire the beautiful scenery.

First, we'll visit...

Here,

the water towns of Jiangnan.

We'll take a boat ride on West Lake.

It's all up to you.

Then,

right here.

Outside the border.

Let's go horseback riding.

I'd also like to go stargazing at Tianyun Mountain.

Qingcheng,

no matter where you go

or what you want to do in the future,

I'll be with you.

I thought I'd never see you again.

I'll never leave your side.

♫Get love in the world of mortals♫

But there's been a secret

I never told you.

♫Listen to the words of flowers through the years♫

♫Having eye contact with you, it's like we've gone back to the moment we first met♫

What's that?

Your blood can summon me.

When I gave you the bracelet,

♫I fell in love with you at first glance. I've been looking for you for thousands of years♫

it was to protect you from bleeding.

In the future, if you're ever in danger,

♫Wind follows water, asking the flower spirit♫

you can take off the bracelet,

use your blood to summon me,

and I'll appear instantly.

♫Years pass, yet we are fortunate to reunite♫

I can summon you?

No wonder.

♫A blessed land, moonlight shines on two shadows♫

Before,

you would

suddenly appear.

Is it because

♫Love fills the city, inseparable like shadows♫

your Flower Spirit is connected to my vessels and meridians?

You're such a smart little flower artisan.

♫Evergreen like the bond we share♫

Don't cry anymore.

Then, Master,

if I can't find you in the future,

♫Liuli grass sways, carrying my longing♫

should I just

keep cutting my finger,

again and again,

so you'll

appear every time?

If it's not an emergency,

♫Fate turns, time flows like a waterwheel♫

don't harm yourself.

♫Peonies bloom, stars shine deep in the clouds♫

I'm sorry,

Qingcheng,

I failed to protect you.

Hand over the demoness!

Everyone, please listen to me.

Listen to me.

Our young lady

is not a demon.

She's lived in Pingcheng for many years.

Her love for flowers and plants is well-known far and wide.

There's definitely something fishy about this.

Please give us some time.

Okay?

You're talking nonsense!

This demoness

is deeply scheming and possesses demonic powers.

She's pretended to be innocent all these years

just for the day of the Floral Competition.

She used her flowers

to absorb all the spiritual energy

from Pingcheng's flowers

and the life essence from the people.

I see now.

Her goal is to get

the spirit pill from the Floral Competition

to increase her cultivation.

That's right.

If we don't get rid of her,

the harm will be endless.

No,

it's not like that.

Hand her over!

Hand over the demon!

Hand her over!

My Lord.

Everyone, listen to me!

Everyone, listen to me!

Qingcheng is my daughter.

She grew up in Pingcheng.

I'm sure

many people here know her.

Please, trust me this time.

Give us some time.

We will get to the bottom of this

and give everyone an explanation.

Okay?

Why should we trust you?

My young lady...

My young lady has always loved flowers and protected plants since she was little.

Even if it's just a little grass

on the street about to wither,

she would bring it home and revive it.

Tell me,

would someone like that

use plants to harm others?

I beg everyone

to trust our young lady one more time.

Please, I implore you all.

I also ask everyone

to consider that the Sun Family

has always been law-abiding.

Please give my daughter seven days.

Just seven days.

Seven days is too long.

Who can guarantee

that you're not just buying time

to call for reinforcements?

Exactly!

Yes!

Don't try to fool us!

Letting a demon run rampant

will bring disaster.

Master Sun,

you must think carefully.

Everyone, please hear me out.

Everyone, please hear me out.

Everyone, please hear me out.

My Lord.

My Lord!

Everyone,

please,

the Sun Family has been

a respected household in Pingcheng.

I am willing

to use the entire Sun Family

to vouch

for my daughter, Qingcheng.

Please

give us seven days.

Just seven days.

I appreciate it in advance.

I appreciate it in advance.

I believe in Master Sun.

Before, when the flowers in my shop had issues,

it was Qingcheng who saved them.

I trust Qingcheng.

Please, everyone, give her a chance.

Alright then,

for Master Sun's sake,

we will give her seven days.

Just seven days.

Thank you, everyone.

My Lord.

Thank you, everyone.

My Lord.

Thank you, everyone.

Thank you all.

Thank you all.

We'll get it done within seven days for sure.

We'll get it done.

Thank you, everyone.

Thank you, everyone.

All of this happened because of me.

Qingcheng,

I will protect you no matter what.

I will never let you be harmed again.

Heavenly Emperor's Decree:

The demon Lyu Gengyun,

having had his immortal roots severed, refused to repent.

His demonic nature has erupted,

bringing disaster to the mortal world.

He disrupted the Floral Competition

and destroyed the Moonlight Peony.

The Flower God, Yuxiao, is ordered

to capture Lyu Gengyun

and bring him to justice under the Heavenly Laws.

Yuxiao accepts the decree.

It must have been difficult for you

to personally deliver this decree.

I am merely a Qingluan bird of the heavens.

Delivering the Heavenly Emperor's decree is my duty.

Back then,

I couldn't save Jiang Li.

Now, I cannot save Lyu Gengyun either.

Do you wish to see him one last time?

No.

Officially,

I can do nothing;

personally,

I lack the strength.

I don't have the courage to see him.

[Quoted from Guo Pu: "The Qingluan birds serve as messengers for the Queen Mother of the West and dwell in this mountain."]

[Qingluan, also known as Cangluan, resides on Sanwei Mountain, located 220 li west of West Mountain]

Wushuang.

Mr. Lyu.

Why are you here?

You came at the right time.

Quick, take a look

What's wrong with Wushuang?

When did she lose consciousness?

I don't know either.

I knocked, but no one answered.

So I came in directly

and found her unconscious.

What should we do?

Could it be because

she sneaked into the Prince's Mansion at night?

Sneaking into the Prince's Mansion at night?

I can no longer enter the Prince's Mansion freely,

so I sent Wushuang

to investigate the Moonlight Peony.

And now,

she just happens to fall unconscious.

This must be related.

What should we do now?

Take good care of her.

As for this matter,

I will definitely get to the bottom of it.

At such a critical moment,

what brings you here?

I came to confirm something.

Do you know that

Immortal Qingluan personally delivered the decree?

The Heavenly Emperor has passed judgment,

and you will be punished according to Heavenly Law.

This time, both your soul and body

will be completely destroyed.

Are you the one carrying out the punishment?

That's right.

But since you are the son of an old friend,

I do not wish to harm you.

So,

I hope you won't force my hand.

Besides,

for you,

death is an easy way out.

But what about Gu Qingcheng?

Poor Gu Qingcheng…

She still dreams of sharing life and death with you.

There's no need to provoke me.

I will take responsibility for everything.

As long as I accept the punishment,

Gu Qingcheng's innocence

will be proven,

and her poison will be cured.

Isn't that right?

You deliberately made me break the barrier

for Gu Qingcheng,

creating this calamity,

just to push me

toward my own doom.

Immortal Yuxiao.

Aren't you being a little too impatient?

You're not even pretending anymore.

Pretend?

Since you're saying this,

it means you have some evidence.

Then take a guess.

Where did you slip up?

I am always careful in what I do.

If there were a flaw,

it must have been due to someone under me failing to cover it up properly,

allowing you to discover it.

Since she returned injured

from sneaking into the Prince's Mansion at night,

she hasn't woken up.

And her hands are getting colder and colder.

Is she really alright?

Yuxiao's Red Plum Seal?

Wushuang.

Wushuang.

Master.

Master.

Tiandong, he...

It was all

done by him and Immortal Yuxiao.

What I don't understand is,

if you wanted me dead so badly,

why did you save me back then?

Because what I seek

might only be unlocked by you.

Me?

Jiang Li sealed everything our master passed down

within the Moon-Gazing Well.

The ancestral Luowei Flower Seed

should be there as well.

But no one else could open it.

As her son,

your Flower Spirit

should be able to resonate with it.

But unexpectedly,

your Flower Spirit merged with

Gu Qingcheng's vessels and meridians.

So your search for the Red Spider Lily was just a cover.

In truth, you used her to break the seal.

Unfortunately,

I didn't find the Luo Wei Flower Seed

in the Moon-Gazing Well.

Not only did you fail to retrieve the seed,

but Wushuang also

uncovered your plan.

So Tiandong decided to kill her to keep her silent.

Qingcheng, stay close.

Let's go!

Fortunately, Tiandong failed in his task.

Not only did Wushuang survive,

but we also managed to save her.

You didn't want your plan to be exposed,

so you seized the chance to suppress her memory

under the pretense of transferring spiritual power.

Only realizing it now?

Isn't that a little too late?

Don't worry.

I won't let you die in my hands just yet.

If I did, Gu Qingcheng

would start to distrust me.

She shares my passion

and dedication to flowers.

I hope she can become a flower fairy under my guidance.

Her future

holds great promise.

Is it truly a bright future,

or are you just using her for your own gain?

You should be grateful

that I have plans for her.

Even more so,

be grateful that she still knows nothing.

Because if she were to find out,

no matter how talented she is,

she would be doomed.

Are you threatening me?

Yes, I am.

You'd better not touch her.

And you'd better not go against me.

Otherwise,

both of you are as good as dead.

[Qingcheng Flower Nursery]

Master, you're back.

Go ahead with your work.

Master has returned.

If I tell Qingcheng

that everything was Flowers Immortal Lord's doing,

her lifelong dream would shatter.

Perhaps it's better to let her discover the truth

on her own.

Qingcheng.

Master.

The demonic markings and blotches on your face are gone

I transferred the poison from my face

into the withering flower petals.

Earlier, when I pricked the poison spots with a silver needle,

the blood was bright red,

but the toxins wouldn't drain out.

Since they wouldn't leave through the blood,

I figured they might follow spiritual power instead.

So I used recently wilted petals,

ones that still retained some spiritual power, as a conduit.

I thought it might work.

Using flowers as a conduit?

I threaded flower petals onto the silver needle,

then pierced the poison spots again.

The poison reacted to the presence of spiritual power

and was absorbed into the petals.

This way,

once you extract the toxins from the petals,

you'll be able to track down whoever poisoned you.

Master, you had the same idea as me.

So,

you are boiling the poisoned petals in water.

As the water heats,

the steam condenses.

The filtration process leaves larger particles

on the filter.

After two filtrations,

the larger impurities stay on the fine cloth,

while the smaller ones stick to the kettle's inner wall.

That's right.

The filtered residue

is the toxin itself.

This method was something my father taught me.

It's used to extract key essences from flowers.

This poison has a scent similar to

that of the butterfly bush.

But while the butterfly bush is toxic,

on its own, it wouldn't be potent enough

to harm both the Moonlight Peony and you.

There must be other poisons mixed in.

Yes, there's another herbal scent.

It's cold in nature,

and slightly bitter

with a sweet aftertaste.

But there are many herbs that match these traits.

I can't identify it right away.

You knew it was poisonous.

Why did you taste it yourself?

It's fine.

Didn't I already figure out a way

to expel the poison?

What's going on?

Why is the poison powder disappearing

as soon as it falls onto the table?

Chinese asparagus, when combined with butterfly bush,

produces a bitter-tasting powder with a cold nature.

It scatters in the wind

and dissolves into the earth upon contact.

That's why the powder

on the table disappeared that day.

It was Chinese asparagus.

Your Excellency,

they will soon trace everything

back to us.

We must act swiftly

and wipe them all out.

We?

How dare you think you're worthy of being mentioned alongside me?

I spoke out of turn

in a moment of haste.

Please punish me, Your Excellency.

However,

Lyu Gengyun's body

is deteriorating.

There's no need for you to handle him personally.

Just give the word,

and I will deal with him for you.

Stop trying to act clever.

Lyu Gengyun

won't die by your hands.

Then what is your intention, Your Excellency?

I won't let him die

while Gu Qingcheng still loves him.

Otherwise,

he'll live forever

in Gu Qingcheng's heart.

I really never thought it would be Tiandong.

But thinking carefully,

it does make sense.

He was originally a thousand-year-old Chinese asparagus plant that transformed into human form.

Besides him,

no one else could possess such potent toxicity from Chinese asparagus.

So it must have been him.

I just don't understand.

Why would he want to harm me?

Master,

are you listening to me?

I am listening.

All your questions

will be answered tomorrow.

You've been exhausted lately.

Rest well.

Master,

can you stay and talk with me for a while?

Okay, I'll stay until

you fall asleep.

Master.

Once the Moonlight Peony issue is resolved,

let's travel across the land together.

I don't want to care about

immortals or demons anymore.

I just want

a world with only the two of us,

witnessing all the beauty of this world.

Sounds good, Master?

Alright.

Once the Moonlight Peony matter is settled,

we'll set off immediately.

I'll take you to see every breathtaking landscape

in the land.

Master broke through the barrier to save Qingcheng,

causing the Red Spider Lily to wither.

Because of this, he can no longer

suppress his demonic aura.

It's only a matter of time

before he falls into madness,

or even dies.

Qingcheng asking Master

to travel the world with her now

is because...

She's trying to send him off on his final journey.

Perhaps,

Master already knows.

Why would

a common rosary pea

summon me

with such powerful force?

I don't know either.

It was once stained with your blood.

Could that be the reason?

What do you think?

That can't be.

My powers aren't that strong.

A few drops of blood wouldn't cause such a reaction.

Then perhaps

it's just a coincidence.

Or maybe

Heaven heard my prayers.

What matters now

is that you're awake.

All you need to do is

take your medicine properly

and nurse your body back to health.

Take your medicine properly.

It's sweet.

I added two spoonfuls of honey,

just in case

you couldn't bear the bitterness.

Here.

Be careful, it's hot.

♫Hey, baby♫

Your eyes are wide open.

♫It's already late♫

How can you fall asleep like that?

♫Don't say a word♫

Well,

Master, you should sing me a song.

♫I'll pat you to sleep♫

I don't know how to sing.

Liar.

You do.

I really don't.

Just sing one, please.

♫Hey, baby♫

♫You and I both know this world♫

Alright,

♫Is full of chaos♫

I'll sing you

♫Stay by my side, won't you?♫

a nursery rhyme

my mother used to sing when I was little.

♫I want, within the limited time of life♫

♫Sit cross-legged♫

♫To love you for every extra second and minute♫

♫For three years♫

♫Tame the dragon and subdue the tiger♫

♫There's so much to say♫

♫So much to do♫

♫Rein in the horse and calm the ape♫

♫I want to see what the future looks like♫

♫Heart like water♫

♫I want, in the infinite possibilities ahead♫

♫Breath like silk♫

♫Not a mere immortal, but a true sage♫

♫To hold you for another day, another year♫

♫Sit cross-legged♫

♫In our own way♫

♫We'll write our own story♫

♫For three years♫

♫Tame the dragon and subdue the tiger♫

♫Rein in the horse and calm the ape♫

♫Heart like water♫

Gu Qingcheng,

why have you come?

Your Highness,

I came today

to inform you

that the true culprit

behind the chaos

at the Floral Competition

has been found.

The Flowers Immortal Lord has already brought

his unruly disciple, Tiandong, to confess before me.

It was he who concocted the poison

that made you and the Moonlight Peony

appear as demonic creatures in front of everyone.

Then why was I the only one who transformed?

The other attendants in the Prince's Mansion merely fainted

but did not suffer the same symptoms as me.

Of course I

poisoned you differently.

Otherwise, how could I make you look like

the demon responsible for their collapse?

I have no grudge against you.

Why would you do this to me?

Because I was jealous of you.

You're so young, yet you were able to cultivate the Moonlight Peony

and gain the Immortal Lord's favor.

But despite my utmost effort,

I could only remain beneath others,

unseen and unnoticed.

Tiandong,

even now,

you still show no remorse.

Tiandong,

did anyone instruct you

to do this?

I take full responsibility for my actions.

Kill me or torture me

as you wish.

Your Highness,

I have no authority over mortal affairs.

According to human law,

how should he be punished?

By law,

he should be executed.

Then I ask Your Highness

to act justly.

As you wish, Immortal Lord.

Guards!

Take Tiandong away.

His execution shall be scheduled.
