We will continue with this Europe tour,

with some more photos.

This time I was in London,

in a workshop called
"Photography Farm".

It was amazing.

And it was a complicated dynamic
because they were 3 couples

each of them with 2 hours
to work and explain at the same time.

I limited myself
and did everything in one place,

without going out at the street
or exploring...

Everything was in the building.

To limit yourself it helps you
to create and to notice details

that, if you are moving a lot,
you will lose those details.

I really liked this result.

With the first couple
I started playing with reflexes.

I saw a circular mirror
on one of the pillars

and I thought:
"How can I fill it?",

Mirrors are always magical but

another complication is added:
that you already have 2 backgrounds,

the wall in front of you
and the one that is being reflected.

And this time I solved it...

GUYS!...

Hey, Jos!
Silence please!.

No screaming!
Thank you.

I'm recording, guys!.

And this time it was solved by
replacing the reflection of a wall

for the reflection of the ceiling.

It had pipes and everything was white.

We use a bench to put the bride up,

and have a completely
linear reflection where the boy was.

I liked that composition

because it gets you out of context
of where you are.

I liked the color of the boy
because it was an intense blue,

and the rest it feels
very monochromatic.

So, we placed the boyfriend there,
very relaxed, hanging out...

And little by little I wanted to see
how a connection could be made,

if one of them should be looking up
and the other looking down,

this time I liked when
both of them are looking down.

Like she's watching him,
as if he's her guardian angel,

something very simple,
a very silly idea, honestly.

But I liked how this composition

of a saturated place,
we could clean and fix it.

In the middle of this

the sun came up.
Very intense.

(In London it is rare that they
have such an intense sun).

So, they asked me
how do I use harsh lighting.

And we looked for a background
where the sun was not hitting.

We had a side light.
From left to right.

And we just...
I liked the symmetry that was there.

There was a right side texture
that created a small triangle

and this is the "L" position
I use for my couples...

One of them is in front of me
and the other one is completely in profile,

to make a small square with the couple.

This way, the viewer's vision
stays there. It gets stuck.

I was causing them a little.
Laugh over here, laugh over there.

And I liked this photo.
I exposed the high light.

Everything else was overexposed.

Their reaction was very natural.

With the next couple

we became more creative.

There were some bases...

(These photos were made
in an art gallery or a museum).

So, these bases or cubes
were in various parts of the gallery.

And I loved the floor,
the texture was amazing.

It was made
of this old / rustic wood

(Normally in Mexico the wood
is like cute and kind of false...)

And I like the wood there
because it is real and worn.

When the couple agrees,
I always try to use this zenith angle

to clean all the background.

We approach a window
to have a soft, diffused light

that came from top
to bottom of the image.

I tried to mirror the couple:

that both were doing
the same action.

And then I exaggerated a little more
by showing only one eye of each person.

It was a very millimeter image.

The triangle of the base
is dividing half of the image

and they just facing the camera
with an expression like: "What's up?".

These are those iconic images that

maybe 99% of the couples

will not understand or will not feel
like this is a wedding photo,

because it is lack of emotion,

but these are the kind of pictures
that as a photographers

(or me personally,
as a minimalist photographer)

I feel very proud of these photos.

And this is what I want to be
exposing in my social media,

to show that we are always
forcing the ordinary.

And maybe these stable couples,

or those couples that are looking
for a romantic photo

will open you that door
to be able to play.

One of the workshop participants
had an amazing mustache

and I liked to think:
"How can we use it?..."

Again, always see around you,

check what elements,
which the location gives you, you can use.

In this case
we looked for a white wall

that we had a place to put couples,
always looking for this clean background.

I looked for the artwork that is there
to have the same distance

in the limit of my frame.

I put this guy in the middle

as if the bride and groom
were the little angel and the devil.

I tried to make the three of them laugh

to have this triangulation
of emotions.

As you can see,
the composition is very similar

to the last picture
(the one with the triangle).

But this time
we add a human element

that gives a little more mischief
or makes you wonder...

"How was this picture taken?."

These photos are those with which
you have to play with the elements.

When you are banging your head
over not knowing what else to do,

I recommend you always look
for an interesting close-up,

and to the same pose of the couple,
the same composition,

but this close-up it will always
make us see the photo.

Do not always use
"couple and unfocused background".

To use an extreme close up

it will give another dimension
and another layer to your photos.

With this couple we also try
to do something outdoors,

the sun had already set,
the light was diffused,

I liked these diagonals
of the stairs where we put them,

and the negative space
on the right side,

which shows the city a little
but it is not so obvious

like: "We are in England",
or..."we are in London".

I like that, only showing
that we are at an urban space.

Her hair color
is everything in this photo.

Everything feels even and she
is having an amazing time with herself.

We tend to use the center in our photos,

so, always make this mental note of:

I already have
so many frames in the center,

Now I need to use
my corners or my ends

to give more life to my portfolio.

That was London.
