We are still in Santorini,
with another beautiful couple.

I remember in that workshop,
photographers complain a lot because

they were a real couple
but they were models

and nobody thought
they were very much in love,

so, it was kind of complicated.

How will a photographer
complain about a couple's beauty?.

That was kinda weird for me.

We always want people
that look good in the photos.

And in this case, even when they were
top models and people started complaining.

Anyway, in the end
you have to find solutions.

In this first image,
returning to the same...

We were in this place
with docks...

a place saturated
with many elements.

We had a small mountain,
a small boats

and I saw this little kiosk
in the middle of nowhere.

Low angle.

And it was very easy to have
a silhouette of that element in the sky.

The next factor was

position the couple
as high as possible

and there was a small railing.

So, I positioned them there to make it
easier for me to clean the background.

The higher your subject is,
the easier you can clean the floor.

And on this occasion we raised them
and made a small triangle

with them and with the kiosk.

I liked that composition and I thought:
what else can we add?.

That weird / surprise factor...

And there were
many stones on the floor

and I asked two workshop
participants to please grab a stone

and that they will throw it
at the same time.

This has no symbolism,
does not mean anything poetic,

it's simply to make
a more interesting picture.

Fill these gaps with this stones
and cover that large negative space: the sky.

And I really liked the result
because it is something I had not seen

and it is a creation at the moment.

Something improvised

using all the elements
that the location offers you.

I always look for
trash cans, traffic cones...

Any item that has a solid color

(or that you can shoot through it)

It will always give you
a surprise factor for your images.

For the next image
we focus more on the boats.

We found a wooden chair
that nobody was using.

We also found a small staircase.

I always like playing with that,
with different levels,

so that when you read an image

you can read it from the upper
left corner to the lower right corner.

That you can read all the information

and not just like: the couple
is centered and I don't care the atmosphere.

Making portraits with atmosphere
will make your photo more nurturing.

And for this photo
we put the girl up

and she did her modeling,

she has an interesting pose.

And about the guy,
I told him to look down,

as contemplating...

To have that element
of forgetting about "ulalá love"

or about "romantic love".

It was simply one more factor,
an element within the composition.

And in this last photo...

We talked to the guys
about the hard light;

how complicated it can be
to use it in wedding photo.

Like we often avoid that.

We were in a sunset and...

almost everyone
was using this magic backlight

with which it is very easy to surprise.

I like to use it too, it's just that
sometimes I feel that we abuse it.

I saw a mountain in the background

and I had the opportunity
to completely erase the background

because it wasn't giving it
as much light as they.

So, I positioned the couple sideways

so that the light came
from right to left towards them.

Underexpose...
the magic of underexposure amazes me,

because of a boring place
(exposing correctly)

with high lights
you can transform the universe.

As you can see, the mountain
is a very large and dominant place,

But since it has no direct light,
we can eliminate it completely.

Here I made a sequence
to see which one I liked best,

I moved them.
He walked from front to back,

with this elf/bride look,
(with her flowers and stuff).

It turned out an image
that looks like a photo studio

(due to light control)

but it makes you
forget the surroundings.

Once again, I always like
to make such an iconic place interesting

and make people wonder:
"Where the f*ck was this picture taken?".

And I loved this picture

because it was a great example
of how exposing to harsh lights

you can transform a "boring" place

into something interesting.
