welcome to another chapter.

In this video we want to talk about

one of the craziest images that we have

photographed for a long time.

In fact, we photographed it last year at

a wedding in Barcelona.

If we have chosen this image is because

when we launched it, I remember that there

were colleagues who even asked us if that

white circle had been the result of post

-production or how the hell we had come

up with that idea and how we had

done it.

So that is the reason why we have

chosen this image and what we are going

to explain to you with all the luxury

of details how we made it, where the

idea came from and finally how we executed

it.

First of all, I should tell you that

it was taken last year at one of

our weddings in Barcelona and well, as I

have told you so many times, it was

a wedding in the afternoon, so we had

not visited the farm or the hacienda.

Yes, we had visited what was the Cathedral

of Barcelona, which was where the ceremony was

held, but in this case we did not

know the farm.

As you already know, if we do not

know something, or the day before or a

few hours before, we go there a little

bit to see what we find and to

see what comes to our mind.

As soon as we arrived, that is, when

we arrived at the farm as such, which

is called Mármara, we went around it a

bit with Erika and what we realized was

that there was a party area with a

white circle, we saw that and I thought

it was strange that they had placed a

white circle, later we found out that that

white circle was designed for projections or for

all this kind of things during the party.

Well, I saw it, I remember that I

was left with that and I thought, fuck,

how strange it is to have a white

circle there, but hey, we still find something.

Well, the wedding started, everything started, we started

working, preparations, ceremony, we did a super broad

report through the streets of Barcelona, I'm talking

about 45-60 minutes, which we always have

a maximum report of 20 minutes.

If I talk about report, I mean exteriors,

right?

Here in Spain it is typical that when

the ceremony ends, between the ceremony and the

reception, we have 20-30 minutes at most,

in this case we had, as I say,

60.

Well, when we got to the farm, the

guests, the friends received the grooms, as you

all know, and already during the cocktail, as

I always like to do, I went a

little bit to see if I could find

some more space, some more location to make

a couple more portraits.

Why?

Because normally when the maître invites all the

guests, that is, they get into the living

room to have dinner or to eat, we

always have 5 minutes left to make a

couple more portraits, and I thought, well, we

have to see if we find some resource,

some story around here, and we take advantage

of all this, right?

So then the circle came back there again,

and I thought, fuck, I have to get

something out of the joke, something has to

happen to me about this circle, right?

So then, as in all photographs, the first

thing we do is take a picture, it's

like a canvas in white, it's as if

we were painters and we start painting or

drawing something.

The white canvas for me was this, it

was the circle with the blue background, right?

And notice that there is a little bit

around some pillars, some columns that have a

gray color, and of course this is not

going to interest me, so what I started

to do, right?

First I placed them separately, and by placing

them separately, the reason was that the main

problem was that the bride, as it is

logical, was going in white, and the circle

is white, so at first I thought that

if I placed the bride in the center,

the white color was going to eat the

bride's dress, and consequently the effect may not

end up working well.

That was the reason why I started asking

them to be a little bit there in

front, to start doing the clown, to start

jumping and all these things, as you are

seeing now, but the effect of jumping did

not quite convince me because it seemed too

fake, and it's like a resource that has

been used so much and sometimes I don't

find the meaning, why do they jump?

A couple usually doesn't jump, but it's something

that we wedding photographers sometimes do and I

don't find it very useful.

So that's when I focused them in the

center of the circle to see what they

could do, and I played with them until

I asked her, I asked Lucia to stand

right in front of me, and Alberto to

stand right in front of me.

Of course, don't ask me why or how,

but it occurred to me that maybe I

could do, or I could get them to

form a body, and that that body was

perfectly fit in that circle.

If I say that I was thinking that

I wanted to get a body, of two

bodies, it was because I was going to

ask Lucia to turn her back to the

maximum, and then Alberto to turn to the

other side.

In short, if I placed Lucia in front

of Alberto, she would have a bigger size,

Alberto, by optical effect, would shrink, and then

when she turned in one of those, I

hoped that, in quotes, it would seem that

Alberto would leave her, that is, they formed

one and the other, they formed part of

a complete being.

That was the idea when I started working,

and I would ask them to do this.

At that moment I began to understand that

it could work, and Lucia's energy was correct,

Alberto's energy was super correct, but above all

Lucia needed more strength.

That's where it comes from, as you can

see now, that I'm asking them to go

crazy, to become super, to start screaming, so

that the strength that is transmitted has twice

the visual impact.

As you are seeing now, I continued working

until I more or less got this.

You see that Alberto comes out perfectly of

what is her body, she too, and notice

that the fear she had that Lucia would

blur, as the dress was white, that she

would lose strength, but notice that it didn't,

it worked very well, so the photo was

this.

The truth is that I continued even more,

I was not clear that I had achieved

something interesting, and notice that I came up

with throwing with an old pattern, I think

I'm not going to use it anymore, because

it is so old, and later there have

been so many colleagues who have used it

that we are not contributing anything new, which

was to make two hands touch, but as

you know, it is a super used resource.

So, as you are seeing, keep playing with

them, and later I thought that maybe it

could be interesting to play only with what

she was, with what Lucia was, and doing

something crazy, like trying to jump.

Also notice that although you have seen, for

example, Lucia who was encouraging him, I want

you to understand that not in all weddings

I go to a girlfriend and I get

like this, much less to a boyfriend either,

but you have to understand that there are

weddings and weddings, and we are talking about

a couple, Lucia and Alberto, who were and

are in love with our work, and if

we had said that they had gone up

to the cathedral of the sea and they

had thrown themselves flying, they would have surely

done it, we are talking about a couple

of a moment and something that there were

possibilities for it, and in fact, look at

this image as Alberto was laughing, he was

enjoying like a dwarf, and that's why he's

taking a picture of when I was working,

so that you understand a little bit what

the moment was.

I asked Lucia to do a couple of

jumps, but I don't know, I saw that

it might not work, and also when she

jumped, notice that it was no longer framed

in the circle, so that photo didn't have

much power either.

Well, these have been the photos, or it

was the gallery, or the image strip, but

first of all, I would like you to

see the camera values, I'm going to go

a little bit, I think they were all

the same, I don't know why it gives

me 54, yes, you see that more or

less they were the same, I used an

ISO 4000 because I wanted to go at

a super high speed, at 250, 300, because

I already knew that if they were going

to move a lot, that the gestures would

have a very fast movement, but I had

to get a speed as you can imagine,

a diaphragm, 3.5 more or less, so

that the background, so that Alberto didn't blur

so much, so that he had more or

less focus in a large part of the

image.

And what you also notice, something that I

would like to explain to you a little

bit, the time I invested was very little

time, I started doing this image at 4

.23 pm and notice that I did the

last image at 4.29 pm, that is,

it's been 6 minutes since it all started

until I finished, taking into account that my

way of working, if I don't have to

talk, if I don't have to explain anything,

but I'm going boom, I'm really like a

knife working, and with very clear ideas, notice

that in 6 minutes I did all these

images a hundred and something, and more or

less I stayed with what you have seen.

photo, the truth is that it is one

of my favorite photos and you have already

seen that, although one can think that it

can be a super complex idea, it is

very simple, if you stop to think or

analyze my photograph, you have to understand that

it is super simple on many occasions, only

that sometimes or many times a brilliant idea

arrives and it is executed in conditions, so

that was the result.
