Today on Nightclub Confidential...
We need this to be the turning point that gets us back on top.
-Your mom taught you to cook? -Oh, yeah.
Being a club owner with all the partying...
...makes it difficult to have a normal dating life.
The party started!
Our goal is to have everything looking a million dollars tomorrow...
when people come in for our relaunch.
If we don't succeed, everybody looks at me and goes, "What happened?"
Not impressed. This isn't what we need to showcase right now.
I don't know what happened.
Nothing happens overnight.
It takes hard work to build a successful club.
You need money...
...and you need hype.
You need the right DJs...
...and the right staff.
But the thing you need above everything else...
is people.
Lots of people.
Right now, Tequila is not the bar where all the people are.
We need to come up with an entirely new strategy...
...to get people into the club.
We're two days away from the relaunch of Tequila.
We need this to be the turning point that gets us back on top.
We've spent six weeks restructuring, reorganizing,
changing things, changing up our music format, you know,
bringing in new staff.
We tried to fix what I saw as things that I thought...
...were making the club not as successful as it should be.
Really hope that Blair's changes are right for Tequila.
He thinks that going mainstream will be good for business,
but I'm kinda scared that it will end up destroying...
...what we've built Te quila to be.
If the relaunch doesn't work out, it kinda dominoes and wrecks everything.
And then we're kinda back at the drawing board.
It's really important we get as many people as we can...
...out this weekend for the relaunch, so we're gonna spend...
...a lot of time reaching out to our friends.
Bill, how're you doing, man?
I'm down at Tequila now, and we're doing a big relaunch party tomorrow.
Yeah, if you pop down tomorrow night with a couple friends,
come check it out, have a few drinks.
Tony, how are you?
I hear you got a show going on at the club.
Got our big relaunch this weekend.
I'd love you to come out Friday night.
-Sure, you know what? Count me in. -All right, thanks, Tony.
-All right. -Cheers.
Okay, man, bye.
My meeting got cancelled today.... was sick.
It's set for tomorrow now.
I'll either be in a good mood at noon tomorrow...
...'cause... agrees to buy my shares or I'll...
Who knows what kinda mood I'll be in.
I used to be partners with one of Tequila's competitors down the street...
...and they weren't overly happy with me when I moved over here,
so it's been a bit difficult dealing with them as far as getting my shares out.
You haven't confronted them or talked to them about it at all?
I ran into them and basically they're giving me the old F-you.
I just wanna get out of it, try to leave peacefully and quickly.
It's imperative that the relaunch is successful.
I've made a lot of changes to the club,
and I just know everyone's gonna look at me if things don't work out.
Blair and I are going out and personally handing invitations out.
Blair is on top of it.
He's got a lot of stress from his previous employment...
...and his previous partnership,
so I think everything's just coming down on him.
This weekend's his weekend, right?
Like, this is kinda where we want him in top shape,
and we wanna show ourselves off.
Perfect timing, brother, how are you?
-How've you been? -Good.
Long time, no see.
I just brought you some invitations of this relaunch we're doing this weekend.
I know you're gonna love the music too. We're doing a little bit more rock.
I'll be there, bro.
Done deal, thanks a bunch, Ray. Take care.
Hello?
I'm good, John, good. Really busy today.
We have a few renovations on the go, mainly putting in a new manager's office.
We only have two days until the relaunch...
...and the custom doors I ordered still haven't come in.
Hello?
Hey, how you doing?
You're not gonna be happy.
The door's that were brought in,
they brought in 24-inch doors instead of 32-inch doors.
So what, do you have any other options as far as what I can do to fill these holes?
This isn't rocket science. They're doors.
We can't have a construction hole, so we need to come up with something.
I ordered calamari and chili lime chicken for us.
-For us? -Yeah.
Being a club owner with all the hours and the partying makes it difficult...
...to have a normal dating life.
I met Simon at the club.
You know, I thought he was a very nice guy.
Jessica isn't your normal club girl.
She's a more sophisticated and classy woman.
We were just gonna have some, some food and a couple of drinks, and just chat.
-Your mom taught you how to cook? -Oh, yeah.
-Did she? -Yeah, she taught me everything.
She taught me to be a man...
...and taught me how to take care of myself,
and I had no choice.
We talked about Greece and his travels.
He really impressed me.
Seeing him outside of work...
...ust really gave me a different perspective on who he was.
He noticed a few of his friends coming through the door,
and more people started to pile in, and they all ended up sitting with us.
Thinking a mellow night tonight.
Is this a date?
Did we break it up?
Simon seemed slightly annoyed.
You know, I would've preferred to probably just spend time with Simon alone.
I really wanted Jessica to see me outside the club,
but I can never escape the party.
It seems to always follow me.
To a mellow Tuesday.
It's not a party Tuesday.
It went from a mellow Tuesday to a party Tuesday again.
Let's do it.
Hey, I'm really sorry we ruined your guys' date,
but we're gonna go out to the club and party.
All right, I know a guy with keys.
Do you wanna come? You can come if you want to.
She was kind of...all over him.
Oh, this is gonna be trouble.
It was kind of a turn-off for me.
What are those, that bad group up to?
Hey, oh, the party's starting!
It went from a mellow Tuesday to a party Tuesday again.
Let's do it.
We're gonna go to the club and party.
Hey, oh, the party's starting!
We went back to Tequila, and about, I don't know,
I think 20 of us or something.
And they were playing music, and we all started dancing and stuff.
I was having a good time. I liked the music.
Jessica was a really good sport with the way the date was turning out.
Everything thing was great until...
Trouble...with a capital T.
Then I noticed this girl was again just all over Simon.
Yeah, this is a little bit of flirting going on,
but we're all partying and drinking, I don't think it's a big deal.
Babe, it's not like that.
I know, but don't think like that.
I think he gets pulled into certain situations...
...and that's not necessarily appealing to a woman like me.
You know, I just kinda didn't wanna be there anymore.
My girlfriend offered to pick me up.
You're gonna get a ride?
I said in the text message, "Please save me."
Simon saw the text message.
Well, why are you texting somebody to save you right in front of me?
I lost my temper a little bit.
Seeing that text kind of pissed me off.
Just saying, what do you need saved from?
I was tired and wanted to go home.
Okay, cool. Call a cab.
You know, he appears to be just a party kind of guy.
-...you, man. -Girlfriend!
Did you have a good night?
It is crunch time now.
We got a lot to get done between now and tomorrow.
Just trying to get them done straight.
Got the waitress meeting tonight yet to go over,
to make sure customer service is handled properly tomorrow.
Office is still not done yet, lots to get done.
We're going to Oakland Supply now.
A friend of mine, he's got a set of doors in the shop.
Simon is... his head's spinning off already by reading his texts.
This is where we... use it every... week.
Long day today, recovering from last night.
Yeah I'm just waiting for some more doormen...
...so I can move around a lot more stuff.
We've moved a couple plasma TVs around.
We've still got some furniture to move.
You ready?
Baby steps, my boy, baby steps.
Just trying to remember everything, just trying to go through our list.
Just a little bit of stress and nerves.
Our meeting with the bartenders is in five minutes.
And I just received a text from Blair...
"I hate to do this to you, but can you manage the meeting yourself?"
"I really wanna be there, but I can't stand up and I'm fighting off puking."
I'll...
So I'll be talking in the meeting, I guess.
See how we wanna start creating that consistency behind the bar, right?
-That's probably what he means. -Yeah.
I'm gonna try and cover everything as best as I can.
-As quick as I can. -Yes.
I totally forgot to order pizza.
That's all you're here for, is the pizza?
I need a huge favour, buddy.
In all my... chaos, I forgot to order pizza.
I'll deal with that.
Okay.
Just one second, sorry.
I got one side.
I do not have time for this.
Where the hell is Blair?
I think it's fair to say I was quite overwhelmed...
...and negotiations with my former partners...
...were not going well.
Talk to a lawyer and set up an appointment with... tomorrow...
...to come over...
...and option to sell him my shares since it's so ugly right now.
And I'm agitated and obviously hurt...
...by the stand that they've taken.
They're upset that I'm working down the street.
You've gotta focus, you know, on the present...
...and the future, not worry about the past.
Your eyebrow's all wonky again.
Crazy eyebrows.
Well, I don't know.
Same thing I said before, don't worry, you're gonna do awesome at Tequila.
The weekend's gonna be awesome. I'm like, super looking forward to it.
You know, I'm worried about people showing up.
We need 1,000-plus people to show up,
and we need those people to all like what they see.
And that's just extremely added pressure.
If we don't succeed, everybody looks at me and goes, "What happened?"
Right now, Tequila is not the bar where all the people are.
We need this to be the turning point that gets us on top.
If we don't succeed, everybody looks at me and goes,
"What happened?"
So now we can pause this, get it off yours...
...and link it back to my USB, right?
Sweet, sweet.
It's launch day today.
Tonight's the big night where we're hoping to pack the place.
I have this whole issue with my partners,
and on the way to the meeting this morning,
I decided I'd opt out because I didn't want to put myself...
...in any type of negative mood for the day.
You know, there's lots on the go today.
We got tons of things to get done left at the bar that aren't finished yet.
I'm just not gonna be satisfied and happy...
...until the doors open and the place is busy.
Turn it up!
Now!
Installing those stupid doors damn near killed Timmy.
Can you turn up the music for him before I... snap?
I wanna know how soundproof it is. Turn it up!
Can you hear me, Timmy? Can you hear me, Timmy?
Can you hear me, Timmy?
Yep, I think we killed Timmy.
Can you hear me, Timmy? Can you hear me, Timmy?
Nope.
It's soundproof, you can't hear a thing in there.
It's almost like you never turned it up.
What a... guy.
Last question, is Peter coming in to pay today?
Or are we switching to polarized for the long relaunch?
Okay, okay. Okay bye.
Got some texts from Jessica today, and we haven't talked yet.
I'm gonna give her a shout right away.
-Hello? -Hey, how you doing, Jess?
Hey, I'm good. How're you?
Are you gonna pop into the club on the weekend?
I'm...
I'm just gonna stay home.
-I work this weekend. -Okay.
Love a quiet night sometime soon with just me and you,
and kinda see how that's different...
...and kind of get to know each other...
...rather than everybody around us.
He's around girls that drink a lot...
...and party a lot, and that's not me.
I have a lot more to me.
No.
Anyway, I didn't mean to wake you or pull you away.
So, all right, have a good night.
-Yeah, you too. -Cheers.
-Okay, bye. -Goodnight.
I'd love to go home to one person every single night,
no question about that.
But do I see myself changing for a girl or a girlfriend?
No. When the party's on, the party's on.
I'm there to party, I'm there to flirt.
It's the way it is.
Hey, what's going on? It's Whitney Graves live at Tequila relaunch party.
Now 8 to 10 no cover.
At 10:00, that's when the party's really gonna get started.
Everyone has their ways to prepare themselves for a night like this.
Personally, I'm a little less high maintenance.
That's probably your best one.
Everything we've worked for comes down to tonight, and we gotta deliver now.
-You got a bartender about to walk. -Yeah, yeah.
Theresa, I hear you're a little upset...
-...about your bar spot? -I'm fine.
I just wanna explain to you why we did what we did.
The night was off to a bumpy start. We're putting out fires left and right.
We had two new girls that didn't show up tonight,
so other girls had to step in and do a little bit more work.
I'm missing one for sure.
Allie never showed, never texted back, and then her friend Lauren,
I don't know if she's here.
I can't find her.
You know what? I've never been impressed with that girl.
She gets drunk behind the bar.
-She can't help us and have respect. -No.
She's actually a good waitress if she's sober.
Typical night at Tequila.
Staff have no respect for the schedule...
...and are just wandering in when they feel like it.
Not to mention, I noticed the staff were too busy...
...making themselves drinks and ignoring our customers.
Natalie, could you handle the Bud Light? Getting them all set up somewhere.
Yeah, but I've got a beer tub girl too that needs a cash caddy.
That's 17.75.
Not impressed, a 200-person pub crawl coming in on a nice classy night.
We're showcasing what we got.
Now we're gonna get a bunch of morons in here.
It's not ideal for the night.
It's a strange thing to see come through the room.
They'll be gone in an hour or 45 minutes so they won't be here very long,
but it would've been ideal not to have them.
Not impressed, this isn't what we need to showcase tonight.
We had a few issues at the start,
but nothing big enough to jeopardize the relaunch.
I don't know what happened.
Somebody got bear maced.
They were just over here and I went to break them up.
When I pulled them apart, the one guy had a can of bear mace...
...and started shooting it off.
This isn't good.
An incident like this can turn a good night into a really bad night.
What was this... deal outside?
I don't wanna finish off with everybody walking out of the club...
...seeing all these lights and cops.
They're gonna be thinking something massively,
massively bad happened.
So I'm a little choked,
and another story to tell tomorrow.
I hate to see our doormen hurt,
but this is a night that we can't afford to have ruined.
Fortunately, our staff pulled through and kept the party alive inside.
We bought some rounds, cranked up the music,
and everyone seemed to not notice what was going on.
-Yeah, I want a drink. -She wants a drink.
I want a drink.
Time to have some fun, time to have some fun.
It's been a stressful day today.
We're been crushing it out since 2 this afternoon, so...
All in all, we're really happy with it. It's a real successful relaunch.
Simon and Chunk seemed really happy with the night.
I was happy with the turnout.
However, it's easy to have one night.
It's really hard to have continual success.
So there's lots of work ahead for us.
