is where the darkest knowledge
of the universe has been secured.

And now it's loose inside my library.

There is an ancient tomb,
the Grymarcanorium.

Librarian mentioned
something about a book.

He said it was our only hope.

[Ragnabook] The Dark Times
shall return, Ancient One.

And there is nothing you can do
to prevent it.

Argh. No, no. Zero, help me!

[Zero] Librarian!

It's like it's pulling your memories
apart, moment by moment.

Now what's your problem?

[Zero] A decade ago,
the Imperium created the Bioweve,

a digital nightmare
they wired into our brains.

They locked me away, stole
my memories, left me with nothing.

Then one day, I was rescued
and taken aboard the Rogue.

Now my friends and I are going
to shut down the Bioweve

and free humanity.

Because I am Prisoner Zero.

[theme music playing]

[dramatic music playing]

-[laser fires]

The Ragnabook doesn't want people
knowing how they were defeated.

So now no-one will ever know.

And as I said, no-one will ever know.

them in that book of yours...

Wherever I could.

and its mission.

So I preserved it all and hid it.

[Librarian] After the war
to end the Dark Times,

I fled across the cosmos.

I searched for a new life, a new purpose.

Eventually I came upon
an abandoned starship.

But I couldn't understand how to fly it.

Its creators were...long gone.

Wherever I went, wherever I explored,
the whole ship was deserted.

Oh, there were signs that life
had existed once, certainly.

During its long existence
there had been many different races

that, at various times,
operated this ship.

But as to what happened to them,

well, that remains a mystery
for another day.

Eventually, I found an untouched area

within the bowels of this great starship.

I immediately felt a connection,
a link to something deep inside me

and instinctively, I knew.

I had found
what I was looking for, sanctuary.

I decided to make this ship my new home
because it made me feel safe.

With hindsight, I probably should
have given up there and then.

At least I'd have been less lonely.

One day I'll tell you the story
of where all those aliens went.

Some of them, at least.

They don't matter now.
Their time has passed.

And back then all that mattered to me
was making this place my own,

to try and make my mark on history.

Well, that's hardly a crime.

Perhaps not.

But nevertheless,
it was terribly egotistical.

I did it just to prove to myself
that I actually mattered to the cosmos,

and indeed would continue to do so
for generations to come.

So you built your Library here?

Not built, exactly.

[creaking]

Oh, of course.

You needed somewhere safe
you could store the stories,

where you lock away all those secrets,
all those dangers.

Not just evil things,

objects and beings
that could turn a mind to evil.

Powerful things.

[children laughing]

[leaves rustling]

[Gem] Come on, come on. Let us in!

We need the Gryma-whatchamacallit.

Oh, that'll help.
Just shout random noises at it.

I can't believe I'm trying to work
out how to wake up a talking door.

All the accumulated knowledge
and wisdom of the past.

I've even seen Guardian down here

exploring the endless possibilities
found in these pages.

[gulping]

The Ragnabook is making
the entire universe forget.

You have to remember
who you were, Librarian...him.

The man who recorded the truth
in his books.

You have to be the person you used to be.

[clangs]

we're not worthy.

But if we could convince it
we were special.

If we linked our Bioweve,
made it look like we were something new...

We might confuse it, trick the system.
