Directly after lunch, he put cyanide
in Mrs. Symmington's sedative

and then went back to the office.

When he returned, he went to the nursery
where he was given a cup of tea,

which he took up to their room.

He crumpled a poison-pen letter,
dropped it on the floor,

together with the suicide note
and then raised the alarm.

Oh, he is, of course,
a consummate actor.

But the suicide note, "I can't go on."
It was in her handwriting.
