All language subtitles for 33 - Connecting Your Domain Name To Your Shopify Store English

So let's now see how we can point our new domain, the domain we bought at TMB hosting to our Shopify

store so that this doesn't read this weird thing here.

It actually says W-w-what the dog of Dora's dot com, which of course is what we want.

So in order to do that, of course, we need to go over to the admin system, go down to your settings,

and then click on domains.

Now what we're doing here is we're connecting an existing domain.

We have a domain that we've already bought externally from Shopify, in this case with Tad, and now

we're going to connect it.

So we need to click on Connect Existing Domain and then here we need to put the domain name in.

So mine was of course the dog.

Adore us dot com.

Then I click on next.

And then to make this nice and easy, Shopify has provided us with some instructions.

So you can see here follow settings instructions so I can click on that.

Then brings us to this page connecting a third party domain to Shopify.

I mean, to scroll down, we do not need all of this, we just need a part of it.

In fact, we need this bit here.

Connect to your third party domain to Shopify manually.

So if I click on this and then scroll down here, you see this part here before you begin.

Now to make this as simple as possible, what I'm going to do now is are going to log into my Tad hosting

account and show you how to do this, show you how to put these parameters into the right places.

Okay, please don't worry.

This is all copy paste.

Okay.

So here I am, back on TMD in an area that I hope you're now familiar with.

This is the home page.

If we go to services and my services.

And this is where you're going to see your domain.

So click on Manage product next to that and then scroll back down to the bottom to find see panel.

We looked at this before when we were doing the email, so click again on See panel and then scroll

down until you see the domains section.

And then within the domain section, you want this bit here, zone editor And then you should see a

page like this with of course your domain sitting here and then simply click on the manage button at

the end here.

And that brings up all kinds of funky stuff.

But please don't worry because all we need to do now is follow the instructions that Shopify gave us.

So if we go back to those instructions, you remember we were here before you begin.

So I want to scroll down here to step one.

Now, we've already done one and two, in fact, so we can head straight here to three where it says

point the a record to the Shopify IP address this please don't worry about what that actually means.

All I want you to do is to take this number here and simply copy it.

Then head back to the zone editor.

When you see this, you'll have your domain like this and then you'll have a here.

This is the a record.

This is the one you want to edit.

So just make sure you've got the domain here and a here and then simply click on edit.

You can then edit this record so you want to take this out and then paste in the IP that you took already.

So this 23.2 to 7.30 8.65 that relates to this.

So once you've done that, simply click on Save record, then let's head back to the instructions.

And we don't need to worry about B here, but we do need to worry about C.

It says delete any other records on the domain if they are present.

So if we go back to our zone editor here and scroll down, you can see that we do in fact have other

a records a whole bunch here and we need to delete these.

So very simple.

Just go through them.

Each one until you are done.

Okay.

So that's all done.

And now you can see I've only got one a record, so that's what I need.

And then the final step.

So let's go back to the instructions once again.

And you see this point, the C name record with the name W WW two shops dot my Shopify dot com.

So again, I want you to highlight this and just simply copy it.

And what we're looking for is this record here this W WW dot your domain dot com so the dog door is

dot com so I want to go into here and edit it then I want to change this part here.

Take this out and put in shops dot my Shopify dot com and then simply click on save record.

And that's it.

You are done.

So all we need to do now is to actually check that everything works.

And not to do that, we need to go back to the Shopify admin.

So I'm back here in my settings domains where we were before we clicked on connect existing domain before.

Okay, I'm going to do exactly the same thing.

I'm going to type in my domain name.

And then I'm going to click on next.

Now, last time we did follow setting instructions.

That's just what we've been doing.

But this time what we're going to do is we're going to click on Verify Connection.

Now it goes off and checks that all the good work that we've done is correct.

And when it goes back you should see this your domain so the dog WordPress.com and it says primary for

online store everything is great so now let's check this now let's just come out of here, go to the

online store, click on the little I.

And you can see up here it says the dog adore is dot com.

Everything is set up correctly rather than that weird subdomain that we have before.

It now says the domain that I bought.

Now I'm sure it hasn't escaped your attention that somehow the store is looking a bit odd and that's

because it's now behind a password protect.

So in the next lecture I'll show you how to remove that super simple so we can get back to where we

were.

You've now got email set up in the correct way.

You got your domain pointing to your Shopify store.

get back to where we were.
