Tucked away behind the clouds
in the hills of North India

is our little town, Riverdale.

Our small town was built in 1914
by Sir John Riverdale.

he couldn't hold onto his heart.

He fell in love with the blue skies
and the mountains.

Sir John and his wife, Sitara,
put all their savings together,

and leased this land from the
prince's father, the Maharaja of Sarna.

They made a new town for people

who were like Sir Riverdale's family,

half British and half Indian.

The Anglo-Indian community.

Then India got its independence.

The British headed home
while the Anglo-Indians

wondered if they should stay back or…

Many left for England,

and the ones who loved their
country stayed back.

Riverdale became home,
and the heart of this town was Green Park.

Every citizen in Riverdale
has once planted a tree here.

In other words, this is where the
community literally planted their roots.

How beautiful is this!

This is not just the heart,
but the history of Riverdale.

We have a tradition here
known as "planting day".

When kids turn five,

their parents bring them here
to plant a tree.

The trees have their names.
