Another major reason
we might want to do a secondary correction

on a shot is to enhance the depth.

Any image that somebody looks at on
a screen is a 2D image.

There's no way to actually see that
there is depth, but there are tools

that kind of help us enhance an image
and make it feel like there is depth.

One of the tools is depth of field.

That means that things that are closer
or farther away

than our subject would be blurry
and our subject would be in focus.

And that kind of signals to our brain
that there is depth there.

Another big thing is contrast
between different planes.

So in this section,
we have kind of this darker foreground

and then it's light, and then we have this
darker stripe and it's really kind

of striped between bright and dark
and bright and dark and bright and dark.

And so we can easily

see those kind of differences
as we look back into this hallway.

The other

thing sort of related to
that is things that are farther away

generally have less contrast
and are a little bit lighter,

whereas things that are closer
have more contrast and are darker.

These are all things that kind of signal
that there is actually depth there

and there are a whole lot of ways
that we can enhance this using

secondary corrections.
