Original subtitles

Willow and welcome.

If you're wondering why this is out of sequence or if you finished the course and you're wondering why

you don't have 100 percent anymore, it's because I've gone back and I've updated the course now.

I think I mentioned it somewhere that I would try to update the cause periodically.

And that's something I feel that's important is as I come across different tools or different techniques

I think are really cool that you guys and gals should know about.

You know, I want to present it to you.

Or if certain techniques change that I feel it is important to let you let everyone know I'm going to

try to get in there and change it and updated.

So that's what we have the video here today, and this is safe.

Surf safe rather.

So this is actually a pretty cool tool.

It's designed for fighting against fake news.

Essentially, if you see a photo and then suppose a news story, you could potentially use this program

to kind of try to figure it out if it's actually legitimate, legitimate or not, or if someone just

photoshopped and is trying to create some fake news story out of it so they can actually come in really

handy for Olson in terms of if you're investigating something and you come across his photo or this

news story and you're not sure if it's legitimate or not, you can potentially use this to try to find

out and verify the information so it it makes that step that much easier.

Now it's in the Chrome store, and I'm not a huge fan of Chrome, but it's it's currently Chrome.

I believe they're going to make a Firefox extension on it.

Don't quote me on that, though.

And when you search for in the Chrome store, be sure to type in surf safe as one word.

If you don't do that, it will come up with other applications that I really can't vouch if it's if

they're legitimate or not.

So let's take a look at this thing.

So as it says here, it's it's a design to catch fake news, and it does that by when you click, when

you search something or a search image, it's going to actually pop a little box on you.

So once you install it here, it's going to come with this little icon here.

And as we see here, if you hover over the image, it'll show you the indicator here.

And.

Let's click next here.

What you do is once you have an installed, you start clicking on clicking on new sources that you feel

are trustworthy.

So I'm going to actually click on a few here.

I have uninstalled this and reinstalled and a couple of times.

So I need to reconfigure this again.

And as you can see here, there's a lot of different news outlets here that you could actually choose

from to help verify

how safe your sources.

So when you click next year.

I'm going to click on the capture.

And we know them, not a robot.

And we're going to start surfing.

So this is pretty cool here, so here's a here's a picture.

You know, sometimes a photo shops can be really good.

This one, you can kind of tell it looks pretty fake and click on here and it's going to analyze it.

And has a warning here, this image has been fact checked by six sources, so.

That makes things a lot easier when you're again, when you're searching certain images, and if you

want to take that extra step to verify whether it actually is or isn't photoshopped.

So this is safe, surf, it's a super easy program to use again, all you do is hover over an image

to see to go check on it.

Matter of fact, we pulled something like MSN.com.

And as you see here, if I hover over these images here, it has this little bubble here by click on

that it's going to try to start analyzing it, determine if it's actually legitimate or not.

Certain things may not be in the database.

Other things will be.

So if I click on this picture here, that doesn't look like it found anything here, but again, the

more sources you choose, the higher chance it is that it's probably going to be in there or if you

let a little time pass.

As other news sites start picking up these things, it should be able to fact check it also.

So again, just another tool in your arsenal of awesome tools to use.

And again, this was surf safe and again, make sure that you type in all.

That's one word if you're going to grab it from the Chrome Store.

Thank you for watching, and I'll see in the next video.
