Back home, we have
a bluegrass band.

It's named
Carson Peters & Iron Mountain.

We're a touring bluegrass band,

and I sing lead
and harmony vocals.

We've been touring
throughout the country, really,

for the last three
or four years.

It's kind of gotten bigger
each year as we've gone.

You know, it's just
a really fun experience.

Anything else
other than that?

All you can do is

two different singers
coming out of you --

part of you that's doing

The blind auditions
was quite an experience

just because it was
my first official performance,

and then I have two
of the most famous people

in the music business
fighting over me.

I have five siblings.

I shared a room
with my older brother Alex

pretty much my whole childhood,

and so I grew up listening
to all the music he liked,

which was Bob Dylan
and Johnny Cash and The Beatles,

and it gave me this appreciation

for the literary aspect
of music,

things that you can relate with
on a deeper level.

After listening to "Cardigan,"
it was like,

"Oh, wow, this is more
meaningful than I would expect."

One of the lines

So to have that kind of
mentality of, like, rising above

like, "I can do more
than what you think

an 18-year-old could do."

So I think it kind of resonates
with me on that level.
